Since updating to 10.10.2 I can't open the applications on my dock?

Since updating to 10.10.2 I can't open the applications on my dock?

Try doing a Dock restart using the following Terminal command:
killall Dock
Log out/in and test. If that doesn’t work, you need to look in your user Library/Applications Support/Dock for the .db. Use the Finder “Go To Folder” command. Enter ~/Library/Applications Support/Dock.  Move the .db to your desktop.
Then try a dock reset.
Applications/Utilities/Terminal enter the command
killall Dock
Log out/in test. If it works okay, delete the .db from the desktop.
If the Dock is the same, return the .db to where you got them from, overwriting the newer ones.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox

The full message is "You can't open the application Adobe Photoshop CC because it's not supported on this type of Mac." - why ?
I notice people had the issue back in June, but this after the new point update for Photoshop CC - the update was OK but I can't access the program and it's regularly used.

It's OK now - but seems that it was tied in with the .5 OS X update for any future reference !!!!

  • New MacPro 10.9.4 included Keynote. Worked fine. An update was released August 21. Just downloaded the 6.2.2 update and now get error message "You can't open the application because PowerPC applications are no longer supported". Any ideas?

New MacPro 10.9.4 purchased three weeks ago included Keynote. App worked fine. New update for Keynote was released August 21. Just downloaded the 6.2.2 update. Tried to launch app and now get error message "You can’t open the application “Keynote.app” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." Confused as to why it worked prior to update. Nothing else has changed. No issues with recent iMovie, Pages or Numbers updates. Any ideas?

    I tested this:
Reinstalled Aperture 3.1 from the Trial Installer.
In some way it seems to be working. But the whole thing is a scary Chimera.
It can create an Aperture library. I can import and edit images, even in Graphic Converter ias an external editor.
But the Media Browser does not show the aperture Library that I created.
The versioning is inconsistent. The library appears as an Aperture 3.4 library in the Finder.  Aperture 3.5 seems to be able to read this library and to upgrade it to 3.5
The Applications folder is showing the application as version 3.4 and as compatible. Spotlight is showing it as illegal.
When opening the chimera Aperture, I see plenty of warnings in the Console window:
    An Aperture "Hang" report
    xpcproxy assertion failed
com.apple.IconServiceAgent: main failed to composite image
    quicklookd: Warning
and more ... the hang was critical. I had to force quit Aperture more than once.
So be careful. I would not trust any important Aperture library to this patched application, without testing thoroughly. Be careful with your  precious photos.

  • Tried to install a new game but got error message "You can't open the application "XIII Install" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."  I have since read that Yosemite doesn't have the program. What can I do?

Tried to install a new game that I bought (Xiii) for my MBP. All system req have been met and exceeded, however when trying to install it I get an error message saying "You can’t open the application “XIII Install” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
I have since read online that the operating software Yosemite has got rid of PowerPC applications, meaning I can't install my new game.
Is there anything simple that I can do to get this game to work. I'll be gutted if not as I have opened the game therefore the shop will not give a full refund, I'm sure .
    Regards
    Simon

A lot longer ago than that. PowerPC apps haven't been supported since Lion, 10.7.x.
You may have just purchased the game, but the developers obviously haven't kept up to date with the requirements for newer versions of the Mac OS.
You have three options, depending on how old your Mac is.
    1) If it were ever able to boot directly to Snow Leopard, you could create a separate partition and install SL onto that partition. Make sure to turn on the option during the installation to install Rosetta. That is OS X's PPC emulator.
    2) If your Mac is too new to install Snow Leopard, then you can purchase and install Snow Leopard Server within a VM, such as Parallels, VirtualBox, or Vmware.
    3) Use a separate older Mac for running outdated software.

  • Can't open the applications for Hewlett Packard since upgrading my operation system

HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-One operating in OS 10.8.3.
I recently upgraded to OS10.8.3 and since doing so, I am getting this message, "You can't open the application HP Scan Pro becasue PowerPC applications are no longer supported." I tried to download a new driver and that didn't seem to work. What do I need to do?

    Hi,
The HP Scan Pro is an older software verison, intended for Leopard (10.5) or older OS versions.
Unplug the printer if it is connected via USB and uninstall any incompatible software by following the HP Uninstaller, located under Applications > Hewlett-Packard.
Next reboot your Mac and follow the steps below to install the printer on Mountain Lion:

"You can't open the application Safari because it is not supported on this type of Mac."
I vaguely remember some capability to rollback any updates. Is this true?
Where should I go from here?

First you need to clear out some space on the startup volume. You should have at least 9 GB available. Then do as follows.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS. You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it.

  • "You can't open the application [application name] because it may be damaged or incomplete"

I just wiped a Macbook Pro and freshly installed OS 10.6.3.(since ran updates to 10.6.8) I installed Adobe CS4 and when you try to open InDesign, bridge or Illustrator you get the error message:
"You can't open the application [application name] because it may be damaged or incomplete" The Icon to each of these three also have crossed out symbol over them.
I have done this whole process twice, the 2nd time I used a different Adobe Install CD and a different license, same result.
Photoshop and Acrobat work fine. What happened to these three?

I am having a simular problem with cs5.5 Dreamweaver.

  • Can't open the application "Adobe Illustrator CS6.app" because it is not supported...

UPDATE - Ahhh haaaa!  If I log in with the guest account Illustrator works fine! WTF!? Oh well, at least I have a direction to be working towards, thanks for all the suggestions and assistance Adobe Community!
That was sarcasm by the way...
UPDATE - Just installed the latest Illustrator update from Adobe - still not loading. Tried reseting the iMac's PRAM, no luck.
UPDATE - I've just reinstalled the whole CS6 Suite, and the only things that have changed are that I now have a little white no entry sign over Illustrator (it still won't load) and I also have 1.5GB of application updates to do
I don't have any direct evidence but I'm guessing this is a Mavericks incompatibility judging by the other issues people are having with Illustrator. Any suggestions are welcome!
I've been using CS6 on my iMac for the past year (3.2GHz Intel Core i5, 32GB ram).  Everything running fine, no problems.
Then I get the popup from Apple saying to upgrade to Mavericks, so I did. After updating my Java version, for the next two weeks everything carried on running fine. Until just now.
    I finished working on an Illustrator file, saved it and then exited, only to remember I needed to make one more small change. So I clicked on the AI icon and got this error message;
'You can’t open the application “Adobe Illustrator CS6.app” because it is not supported on this type of Mac.' Eh???
I tried doing a reboot thinking that maybe something had just gone wonkey and needed resetting. Still no luck. So I reinstalled Java again. Nope. Then I tried every other CS6 app and they all ran fine.
Does anyone know what could cause Illustrator CS6 to be working fine for weeks and then suddenly become an unsupported app? These things always happen with you're right up against a deadline! I NEED ILLUSTRATOR WORKING NOW! HEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPP!
    James

I had the same issue and resolved it
I first remove the prefs folder and the plist files for illustrator in ~/Libary
    next I logged off,
then I uninstalled illustrator using the adobe uninstaller(http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html)
    Next I reinstall illstrator
after that it worked for me.

  • I am unable to open Photo on my MacBook Pro after installing ilife 11 from a disc.  The message I get says "you can't open the application iPhoto because it may be damaged or incomplete.  What can I do?!

I am unable to open iPhoto on my Macbook Pro (OSX 10.9.3)  after installing ilife 11 from a disc.  The message I get is "you can't open the application iPhoto because it may be damaged or incomplete.  What can I do?!  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Reinstall it.This time delete the receipts first.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.
    Important:
As you're on 10.9.3 you'll need to update iPhoto to v9.5 before opening it. Use Software update.

  • Please help with "You can't open the application NovamediaDiskSupressor because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." I have seen other responses on this but am not a techie and would not know how to start with that solution.

Please help with the message I am receving on startup ""You can't open the application NovamediaDiskSupressor because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
I have read some of the replies in the Apple Support Communities, but as I am no techie, I would have no idea how I would implement that solution.
Please help with what I need to type, how, where, etc.
    Many thanks
    AppleSueIn HunterCreek

I am afraid there is no solution.
PowerPC refers to the processing chip used by Apple before they transferred to Intel chips. They are very different, and applications written only for PPC Macs cannot work on a Mac running Lion.
You could contact the developers to see if they have an updated version in the pipeline.

    Here’s some updates.
I can not uninstall Flash (CS4) using "Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium". It looks like Flash is not installed.
If I try to install it using the disk, it looks like Flash is not installed at all. So I go thrue the installation process, and follow the instructions, until it’s complete.
But if I go in my App folder, and look in the Adobe Flash CS4 folder the Flash.app icon has a circle with a bar in it. This is when I get the message.
