Since updating to 10.4.11, Mail missing some enabled fonts

Since updating my G4 desktop to OS 10.4.11, when an incoming email uses Arial Narrow, Mail instead displays characters from one of the symbol fonts. However, Arial Narrow IS enabled in Font Book, it shows up correctly everywhere else, but the font does not even appear in Mail's font list. When I look at the same email on my MacBook (running Leopard), it displays fine.

OOOw, that's cool & very good work on your part!
A good amount of the User's prefs are in the user's Library, but far from all, let's try this first...
Drag this whole folder to the Desktop, then reboot, test the bad User..

Hello. After updating my Ipad2 to Ios5 Ive missed some Apps( pages and numbers). What's wrong with my device? Thanx

Were the apps on your computer's iTunes when you started the update process ?
As long as the apps are still available in the store, and you use the same iTunes account as you originally used to buy them, then you should be able to re-download them for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519 . If you download them to your computer's iTunes you could then try restoring to your backup and see if that restores them and their settings/content - a backup doesn't contain the actual apps, just their content/settings, so for the restore to work fully iTunes needs access to the apps so that it can restore them.

  • I updated my iPhone and am now missing some of my music, how do I find it again?

I updated my iPhone to iOS 5 and Itunes to 10, then synced to my iPhone to my computer and I realized i am missing several albums I have downloaded.  I try to re-download thru iTunes on my phone but I would have to reperchase.

sounds like your phone was hacked to work with your carrier.  Upgrading has now re-locked the phone to the rightful carrier.  You will need a SIM from that carrier to activate the phone.

  • Since update, various sites load very slowly and some do not load until "Reload Current Page" is clicked several times.

Since Firefox update (6.0.2) many sites load very slowly and some do not load at all (green circle rotates infinitely) until "Reload Current Page" is clicked on 2 to 12 times.
Returned to version 5. No more slow load.
Automatically re-updated me to 6.0.2 and now slow again.
Returned to FF 5 again and turned off automatic update.
Downloaded 7.0.1 and the problem seems to be solved.

Same here, only that updating to 7.0 or 7.0.1 doesn't seem to solve this issue. Seems to have something to do with loading images (e.g: adobe.com stops loading when "wwwimages.adobe.com" is being loaded. imdb.com, on the other hand, seems to load images very slowly and not all of them).
Safe-mode. disabling add-ons, clearing cache and cookies and checking for malware doesn't help.

  • After the iOS6 update I have apps that are missing & some that won't load or open!  When will this be fixed?

I try to open some apps and the loading screen comes up but the it cuts off and will not open no matter what I do.  I have reinstalled the app and rebooting the iPod?!! Don't want 2 reset the iPod to original settings will lose all saved material with games and videos!!?

Hi. Thanks! I guess I didn't state the problem clearly. The downloads are stalled--18 of them. The last time I tried to update (after a sync with my iMac), they stalled and never finished. Now I can't use any of those apps. I have a feeling it's one bad app stalling everything, so I'm going to try syncing with just bare bones apps. The iPad is strictly used by my kids, so I'm not that adept with it.

  • Can't connect to speakers via bluetooth since updating to Windows 8

Hello all. I have an HP Pavilion dm4 3050 laptop. I have spent a lot of time trying to fix my bluetooth problems since updating to 8, and now I need some help!
I go into add a device in a the CP and the machine finds the bluetooth speakers and I add them. I then right click them-> sound settings, then see my speakers below the default device speakers. They are listed as disconnected so I right click them and try to connect but they won't connect. I have updated the Intel bluetooth drivers but the speakers still won't connect. What can I do? Thank you.

BTW it would be nice if the driver update scanner actually worked on the HP website.

  • NeostarHD didn´t start since update to 8.0.2 & other Problems

Hi, on my Ipad3 NeostarHD won´t start anymore since update to iOS 8.02.
Also some other Software like 01v96Remote makes grafik nonsens.
The EQ settings/Lines in the Grafic view are any where but not there where they have to be.
i realy like a working DOWNGRADE to iOS 7.1.2 from 8.0.2... until things working and im not getting a beta tester!

Was that a reset to factory default through the iTunes program. See below ... and ... I included the backup links since you should always do that first.

  • Mail stopped sending or receiving mail on some accounts since update

Since update two of my mail boxes can't send or receive email.  I can't see where settings have changed.  Anyone else having the same problem?

You changed but did not delete and recreate the
    account?
I deleted the account details using the Edit server function in the account window
I have since then again put in my ISP details, account name & password and email address. I then received a single mail sent Jan 5th as a test. My other mails are still in the Webmail.
I tried to send a mail but it gave me the message "Cannot send the message using the server smtp.africa-online.net" It then advises that I use the pop up menu to select a different server. And in that pop up is the server smtp.mac.com:(then my account name).
This is the server I just thought that I had deleted with the Edit function??
If so, changing all account settings probably
affected the account named folder at Home > Library >
Mail which stores all account mailboxes.
The account named folder for each account is named by
the user name and incoming mail server for the
account. If you have two account named folders with
similar/slightly different names, this is the reason
the messages are missing. If so, the missing messages
are probably in one of the account named folders.
Found my old Inbox messages about 2 days ago on this method, I forget now where they were but it was in the Home~Library~mail folder.
There are currently 2 addresses in there. One which we set up 3 days ago to check messages on a new mail address africa-online and the other which is a bad spelling of my normal address but with a comma not a dot before the net. Should I trash these?
.Mac account information is stored at System
Preferences > .Mac under the Account tab. When
targeting the Mail.app preference file, the .Mac
email account information is recreated automatically
Mail with the information gathered from System
    Preferences.
Had a look in there and I am not a paid up .mac member so did not get far and do not have Mail priviliges anyway.
    hope you are still there!

  • Mail Problems since updating to Maverick 10.9.1

My Macmail on all my Apple devices no longer works since updating yesterday to Maverick 10.9.1. I have restarted, deactivated and reinstalled gmail via Macmail on all my devices (Macbook Pro, iPod 5, iPad and iPhone 5s). On my mobile devices the "Checking for mail wheel" just keeps spinning and spinning. On my Macbook I can't even get through the initial sign-in stage before an "unknown error" pops up. I have enadbled via Gmail the IMAP and POP. Nothing works. Anyone have a similar problem, hear anything about this problem or have a fix? Thanks for your help!

If you've activated 2-step verification, you need to generate an application-specific password in your Google account and enter it instead of the login password you use on the website.

  • Since Mavericks update I get "Welcome to Mail" every time

This is just one of many issues I'm having since updating to OS Mavericks. As a long-time Mac user, it is quite annoying. It's the first time I've felt like a frustrated WIndows user who just installed and inferior OS. Can I go back? Are there real fixes for these issues?
So, Every time I open the Mail app, I get a "Welcome to Mail" dialogue, as if it is the first time I'm using Mail. Here are a few other Mail issues:
No option to reply solely to message author when responding to group/list message. Now I have to compose new message and paste message in, or reply to group and then change “to” field.
Can’t “mail PDF” without opening mail first (or I get error message)
MAil often doesn’t fully quit although it appears closed in dock (I have to force quit)
New mail indicator doesn’t always appear on gmail account
Spell check on mail is now more aggressive and changes words I don’t want changed…setting for this?
I can’t reverse pinch to increase font size on documents/mail
I'm also having issues with Safari, iPhoto, and iTunes...as well as occasional glitches elsewhere.

MAil often doesn’t fully quit although it appears closed in dock (I have to force quit)
Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folders. In OS X 10.9 there are two sandboxes, while in 10.8 there is only one. If you're running a version older than 10.8, this comment isn't applicable.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder—not just its contents—to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

I have I-phone 4S - Since updating to IOS 6, when at home with Wi-Fi network with my I Phone connection is not responding sometimes – for example if I want to check my G-mail it shows loading but nothing happens and after few minutes it displays “Cannot Get Mail” – The mail server “imap.gmail.com is not responding, Verify that you have entered the correct account info in mail settings
Other times the Wi-Fi connection works fine and it check e-mail or other within few seconds. The connection problems seems to be intermitted
This issue never happened before with IOS 5 since I bought the new phone in Oct 2011.

We suffered the imap.gmail.com server problem After an IoS 6 upgrade. The simple solution is to delete the problem account, shut down the iPad, start up again and reenter the account. Everything comes back normally. Good Luck everyone!

  • Mail Won't Open Since Updating to Mavericks

Since updating to Maverick's, I've been having trouble opening Mail.  If I restart my computer, I am able to open it one time.  Then if I close it, I can't reopen it without restarting the computer.  If I try to open it, I get the spinning beach ball when I put my cursor on the info bar at the top of the screen and I have to Force Quit to get it to stop.  Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?  I searched the forums and came up empty so if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate that too.  I have updated my software to the most recent version, OS 10.9.  I installed the Mail update, version 1.0, back in November.  I am running on a 2.7Ghz Intel Core i5 iMac. Thanks in advance for any help.

    I have the same problem.

Since updating to Mavericks, Mail doesn't work properly.  It just stops working (no error messages--it just won't check for new mail) and I must shut it down and reopen it to get it working again.  Any suggestions?

Try to force quit the mail app
Double tap the home button. When you see the app previews on the screen scroll sideways if needed to get the preview in question on the screen. Flick that preview up and off the screen to close the app. Single tap the home button or home screen preview to exit the mode.
Failing that, go into the settings, mail, contacts and calendars and remove your account info then put it back in and see if that works

  • Since updating to OS5, my text messages are being sent as e-mails.  Also, my contacts do not show the people's phone

Since updating my iPhone 4 to iOS5, it seems my texts are being sent as e-mails or in e-mail form. The person I am texting gets a phone number and not my name.  Also, when I click on contacts to text to, where it used to show the phone number and I would touch the number to text, it just shows the persons name, no phone#.
    Thanks for any help!
    Kerry

Settings > Messages > Send and Received > Uncheck any number/email that does not belong to the device
Note: The little blue (>) will give you an option to remove the number/email from the device
Note: Check this setting on any device(s) using the same Apple ID
