since updating to firefox 09 my scroll feature on my touch pad doesn't work. How do I fix this, please? I have a Gateway laptop. This has never happened before with other updates.

Thank you so much for your link - unfortunately it is totally beyond my skills to understand or correct the bug as posted. I can find the touchpad icon and right click to open the options and that's about my speed. If this is a bug should I uninstall Firefox 9? Thanks so much...

I can not scroll through web pages with the scroll feature on my touch pad. It worked in 3.6 and all other programs that I use. I have tried 4.0 twice with the same results, I've restarted, rebooted etc.
This should not be application dependant but a system function.
Now I will either roll back to 3.6 where I have troubles with some secure sites or just dump the whole thing and try Chrome.

I have discovered the solution and it involves an issue I suspected. After the restore of my old Time Machine Lion files to my new MBP running ML, the restore restored my computer back to Lion. After an install of ML, my computer worked perfectly except the fancy Scroll and zoom featured we all love from the trackpad. Ha already installed ML on other partitions and the trackpad worked perfectly on them. Even the guest login's trackpad worked perfectly but not the main admin account.
First thought was to create a new admin account and copy everything from the old admin to the new admin and then delete the old admin account. Hated the idea because all files had to be copied rather than moved.
So what was left to do. I had thought of deleting all the apple preferences from the library and replace them with the contents of the library on another partition in ML. First I deleted old preferences many of which were old Lion preferences. That didn't solve the issue.
I forgot that Lion and ML HIDE the user library so I was working on the wrong library. Discovered the Terminal command "chflags nohidden ~/Library" and I chose to reveal the user library on a ML partition.
Solution:
I booted into another ML partition. I guess that I could have booted into the new admin user account and changed the permissions to access the old admin users Library But I chose to boot
from another ML partition: copy ALL the com.apple. XXXXX.plist files and the folder BY Host. It has special hidden files. Other way is to copy the Preferences folder we'll say into the Desktop.
I then proceeded to delete ALL the com.apple…….plist files and the Host folder into the trash. Then I copied all the apple.com…plist files and the Host folder and then rebooted. And now my wonderful Trackpad works as mountain Lion intended it to work.
I'm leaving this solution because there's someone else in the MacWorld with the same issue.

Try disabling your firewall and antivirus software and see if that helps - if you are trying to update using iTunes on your computer.

Since update 4.2.2 the LED on my Apple TV2 doesn't work.

Since the automatic update a few days ago the front led on my Apple TV 2 doesn't light up anymore. Everything else seems to be fine with regard to navigating the interface, watching content and AirPlay from my iOs devices. I just can't tell anymore if it's on or off. I know it's not a big deal but I've got used to the little white dot under my tv.
Has anyone else had this problem and have you resolved it?

I have had the same thing happen, it will now show the light when I press a function on the remote. It may be something that was changed to show status feedback when using the remote.

HP DV4-1114NR bricked by HP's own bios update help plz and thank you

Hello friends, I have a HP dv4-1114nr, I downloaded the Bios update from hp and guess what? it bricked the laptop. I have read several forums on how to fix this, i have gotten as far as attempting to restore the bios, renaming the bios and putting it on a flash drive... The windows+ B key is definitely the way to launch recovery, with my bios i am not sure what to rename the file and also is it a requirement that it be on a small usb drive and that it be FAT format only? any help would be greatly appriciated. I have been working on it for weeks now... Thank you and god bless..

If the HP_TOOLS partition is still on the hard drive, it may contain a copy of the original bios that was replaced by the newer one.
To recover the bios from the HP_TOOLS partition hold Win+B down while you power up, continue holding Win+B until you hear some beep(s) then let up, it may take some time to recovery and may show no signs of activity or mesaages.
If Win +B does not work try all 4 arrow keys.
Usually the bios file name must match the motherboard model number.

After installing FF4 scrolling up and down with the touch-pad doesn't work on my Acer Aspire anymore.

Neither does it work to browse forwards or backwards with the double gesture. Zooming in and out works fine though.
Everything still works in IE8 and in Google Chrome.
The touch-pad uses an ALPS-driver.

Thanks, I don't have the file tp4table.dat on my computer. Currently I've reversed to 3.6 and will run it as long as it works. Really don't like 4.0 anyway... May be forced to use IE again if I don´t find anything better. Tried Chrome and worked well at first but now back and forth doesn't work there either and that's so annoying.

I removed the ASK tool bars from my computer and since then I keep being told the cookies is either enabled or disabled. I refreshed Firefox and that solved nothing it just erased somethings that I setup on my desktop. I'm not dump but I'm not that well versed in resolving this issue and I don't want to make matters worse.......please help! And thank you so much! Good afternoon and thank you John99!... for the reply and advice to my problem the other day. To give some insite to the issue I presented...the ASK toolbar was somehow downloaded onto my laptop and I not knowing that it was as malware and dangerous to my computer at first I left there. I did not like the fact that it was there and how it seemed to take over my setup. Well I looked into it which was fairly easy and found out what I did about Mindspark...not good! I also discovered while trying to solve the problem after receiving you responseto this problem that JAVA ORACLE can carry the Ask toolbar thru their updates. When OKed an update I found it wanting to add the ASK toolbar. I know that in the past I have not allowed other things that carry the ASK toolbar to download this because I liked what I had already setup. Well some where along the way it got downloaded. Anyway...I tried what you had suggested and nothing has changed. I receive email's thru Exployer and bring up my desktop to get onto Mozilla. This is not working!!! I just want to get onto Firefox, click into gmail and anything else I want and use it!..I can assure you that the one thing I cannot do is get into my gmail. It wants to tell my about my cookies...I have pressed all the right buttons and this is not solving anything at all. I was wandering that if I remove Firefox and download it again will this solve the problem. And will I be able to use all the same information or will I find it telling me that someone else already has that email, password, name, etc. because it did not clear everything when I removed Firefox from my computer? Alt+Scroll do not work since updated to firefox 17.0

Usually I use Alt+mouse scroll to scroll one line in firefox, but since updated to firefox 17.0, it do not work anymore, even in safety mode.

If images are missing then check that you do not block images from some domains.
*Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu bar.
Check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
Check "Tools > Page Info > Media" for blocked images
*Select the first image link and use the cursor Down key to scroll through the list.
*If an image in the list is grayed and "Block Images from..." has a checkmark then remove this checkmark to unblock images from this domain.
Make sure that you do not block (third-party) images, the permissions.default.image pref on the about:config page should be 1.
Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"
Note that these settings affect background images.

I updated to Firefox 4.0.1 this morning. Norton 5.5 is now disabled and the message states that it is incompatible with 4.0.1. I need the Norton features enabled. Can I go back to 4.0 until this is rersolved?
