Since updating to iOS 8 guided access does not work

I Was given a iPad mini at school to use for test taking on SofTest. Since updating to ios8, my guided access no longer turns on when I triple click.  But it worked fine before the update. I am not the only student having this issue. I tried resetting, without deleting all content. I rebooted several times, turned access on and off while rebooting, and still nothing.  Does anyone have any ideas or is this an ios8 flaw?

Are you still having this issue? SofTest's Guided Access seems to be working alright on my iPad, although I think there was a small stretch where it wouldn't work.

The 8 pin Lightning connector can only output 720p and lacks all iPod Out functionality unlike the full iPod Out functionality and 1080p that the 30 pin connector has and I suspect that they are coding iOS 7 specifically for the new devices which have severely reduced abilities and perhaps skipping adding the code needed for 30 pin devices to use their functionality with HDMI, etc.

I recently updated my ipad wifi only to the new ios 6.1.2 and initially I had the auto cover lock option which can be seen in the Generals tab, but then it stoped working!! Before the update, the auto cover lock worked fine. So after trying all the options, I then did a complete reset on the ipad and now its gone all together from the General tab!! I can no longer see the "auto cover lock" option.
The iPad cover lock is for when you use a cover with magnets in it to lock and unlock the iPad when you close the cover or open it. Try running a refrigerator magnet along the sides of the iPad and see if that trips the iPad Cover Lock back into the settings.
That is not the same thing as the iPad Auto Lock setting which allows you to set an allotted time before the iPad goes to sleep.
You can try resetting all settings to see if the Auto Lock feature retinrs to the iPad.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. This can be a little time consuming re-entering all of the device settings again.

  • Troubleshooting Guide: Audio does not Work after a Certain Period of Time

Hello everyone, Thanks for choosing the HP Forums! If your sound recently stopped working on Windows 8.x or Windows Server 2012, and you suspect a Windows Update is involved, then look no further! This is the troubleshooting guide that will explain how to resolve the issue! Explanation: Currently, there is a Windows update that may be causing the sound on your computer to stop working. The update is KB2962407, and it is now an “Important” update. That means that it will be installed by Windows Update unless you hide it. This thread also covers generic sound troubleshooting that can resolve "no sound" issues. Before tackling the update itself, since a Windows update may not be the culprit, there is some troubleshooting that can be done. A Round of Troubleshooting: 1. Running the Audio Troubleshooting in Windows 8 can resolve the issue. It does contain the ability to eliminate any setting that affects sound. Here are some steps on how to run this troubleshooter: a) Hold down the “Windows” and “R” key and then type “troubleshooting” and hit Enter.b) A window will open. On the left, click “View All”, then “Playing Audio”.c) Click “Advanced” and run it as Administrator. Then click “Next” to complete the process. 2. Try creating a new user account. The changes forced by the update may only affect one user. This HP document shows you how to create a new user under the “Creating a new account in Windows 8” section: Managing User Accounts and Logins (Windows 8) 3. Try a pair of headphones or external speakers. It will rule out where the issue lies if sound does not work through a second or third output device. 4. Another solution is to uninstall the driver manually then force it to be installed again:a) Open Device Manager, and go to the “Sound, video and game controller” section.b) Right-click on your audio driver and select “uninstall”.c) Restart the computer. This will force the hardware to write a new driver upon startup. 5. Finally, make sure that the remaining steps that you haven't tried from this document are attempted: No Sound from Speakers (Windows 8) New Inclusions: Disabling and enabling the sound driver has been tested with successful results enough for me to post here. These are the instructions to do this: a) Open Device Manager, and go to the “Sound, video and game controller” section.b) Right-click on your audio driver and select “disable”.c) Wait a minute, then right-click on it and select "enable" Also, A System Restore is also a valid troubleshooting step. This will return the computer to a point before the update and/or external source of the issue occurred. Here is a document on how to perform a System Restore: System Restore If you want something stronger, a Windows Refresh completely refreshes Windows 8, without affecting files: Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8) Also, here is a Windows sound troubleshooting tutorial. Just out of curiosity, I re-created the issue on a Windows 8 computer and went through this tutorial. It was able to resolve the issue: No sound in Windows  *Everything in italics  is currently un-tested, but will be tested as soon as possible. I believe these steps will help: In the search bar, type "services.msc" and hit Enter. Hold down the "Windows" key and "R" key. Type "services.msc" and hit Enter. Look for the following services: - Audio Service- Windows Audio- Windows Audio Endpoint Builder I want you to right-click each of those services, and select "Stop". When they are all stopped, right-click on each one again, and select "Start". As well, make sure each service's status is "Started" and their startup type is "Automatic". Troubleshooting the Update: At this point, unless you want to reinstall the operating system, the only other option is to tackle the update, KB2962407. Please note that the following troubleshooting is ONLY a workaround, for now, and only should be done if the computer has installed this update. First, you can try the Hotfix in this Microsoft document, specifically to address KB2962407: Windows RT, Windows 8, and Windows Server 2012 update rollup: June 2014 If that doesn't help, then uninstalling the Windows Update, and then hiding it, is the only method of eliminating the issue if it caused by this update. Here is the procedure for uninstalling the update: 1. Go into Control Panel, then click on “Programs and Features”.2. Click on “View Installed Updates”. Look for the update with the ID number KB2962407.3. Right-click on the update and select “Uninstall”. Restart the computer. Next, here is the procedure for hiding the update: 1. Go into Control Panel, then click on “Windows Updates”.2. Click on “Check for Updates”. When the process is completed, is should find important update(s) available. Clicking on the message will open a window where the important update(s) is.3. Right-click on the KB2962407 update and select “Hide Update”. This will prevent the update from being installed next time Windows Updates are being installed. Conclusion:
At the end of this guide, you will have sound working again (assuming that the cause was the Windows Update, or at least software-based). Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks!
    Mario

Hello everyone  Thank you so much for making use of my thread, dedicated to resolve the issue. I appreciate all the feedback  For those who are still experiencing issues, please reply to this post with the following information, and I can continue to assist: 1. The computer's model number. If you require assistance locating this information, please reference this website: Guide to finding your notebook product number 2. The computer's operating system. • IoS 4.0 Does NOT work with BMW iDrive

Since updating to ios 4.0 my i touch no longer works properly with BMW idrive. This needs to be sorted out with a bug fix asap please apple!
For reference there is a long, long delay when starting up. Thereafter the first track skips and pauses. Menu's are now so sluggish I almost given up. By the time the track listing comes up the menu reverts back to the 'now playing' screen. This is sooo frustrating!

Yes you can, but with a bit of risk and without Apple's blessing.
1- Verify that your computer still has a prior version of the Touch OS. If you can't find it, search the internet as there are places to recover it from.
2- Put your Touch into DFU mode (Google for instructions, pay close attention).
3- Hold the Shift key (Windows) or Opt (Mac) while you click the Restore button.
4- Navigate to where your OS file is located, let the Restore process continue. When prompted to use a prior backup, don't (since it was based on 4.0.2). Instead, set your Touch up as a new iPod, which means you'll have to re-do all your preferences on the Touch, as well as wi-fi passwords, e-mail accounts, etc.
Not being satisfied with either iOS 4 or 4.0.2, I've taken my 2G Touch back to 2.2.1 both times so that it works with my Honda's stereo (3.x didn't work for me either).

  • Maverick update now my login screen does not work please help.

Hello hope you can help.  I have a 24 inch Mid 2007 Intel iMac.  It has been great until now.  I recently did the Maverick update and now my login screen does not work.  When I wake the computer up the screen appars with my picture icon.  When I click on it nothing happens.  If I click on it a second or third time the beach ball appears and nothing happens.  I have to shut the unit down with the power button and when the unit powers back up everything works normally.  Are there any suggestions out there?  I have updated the software without resolution. Is this computer too old?   Do I have to buy a new one?
    Thank you

Your iMac can support Mavericks according to the requirements > OS X Mavericks: System Requirements
Try a Safe Mode boot. That deletes some system caches that may help.
Startup your Mac in Safe Mode
A Safe Mode boot takes much longer than a normal boot so be patient.
Once you are in Safe Mode, click Restart from the Apple () menu.
See if there's an improvement for the login screen.

  • Since updating to Maverick, my screensaver does not show my iPhotos anymore and I can not find how to reset this.

My screensaver preference was set at showing the last 12 months of iPhotos on my Mountain Lion.  Just updated to Maverick and now it shows "no photos."  Tried to reset, but it does not give me the option to personalize using my iPhotos as an option to do so. I do not want to use what Apple has chosen, but want my pictures.  How do I get this back?

You need to upgrade to the latest 64 bit Mavericks optimized, compatible version of iPhoto.
Older versions of iPhoto will no longer work under OS X Mavericks.
What  will happen is that the new iPhoto library will be updated to work the new version of iPhoto an Mavericks and the updated iPhoto library will no longer be accessible to older versions of iPhoto or older versions of OS X.
If you want to be able to access the current configuration of your Libary with older version of iPhoto an older versions of OS X, then you need to create a copy of the IPhoto lIbrary and move this copy to another location
You can save the duplicate iPhoto Library anywhere on your Mac's internal hard drive.
I created a new folder in my Home folder/directory called My Photos and stored the duplicate iPhoto library there along with other images I didn't want to be in iPhoto.
As long as the copy of the iPhoto library is made before you let the new version of iPhoto convert it, it will still be intact for older versions of iPhoto and OS X to access at some future date, if needed.

    Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

  • Since updating to Yosemite my audio is not working?

    Hey,
Every since updating to Yosemite on my MacBook Pro (Early 2011 model) my audio/sound has been very intermittent.  It stops working after my computer goes to sleep and needs a hard restart to get it back.
A few times I was able to kill the process in activity monitor or use a terminal command and it would reset the coreaudio and work but that stopped working for me now too.. Coreaudio shows in activity monitor as not responding even after it comes back after a force quit or regular quit.
Has anyone been able to identify and solve this issue?
    Thanks

    =====================
    Repairing the mysteriously muted Mac
The background on the issue is that there’s a small sensor switch inside the headphone port. When you insert a headphone jack, the sensor understands what's what and changes the sound output setting to Headphones. If you insert a jack for digital audio output, the device changes to Digital Out. When you remove the jack completely, it should read Internal Speakers.
The spirits tell me that there’s a very good chance that you recently had something jacked into this port—a set of headphones or a cable leading to powered speakers, for example. When you removed the jack, something in the port prevented the sensor from tripping correctly. That’s why you see Digital Out instead of internal Speakers.
The solution is to force the sensor to do its job. The safest way to do that is to simply run a jack in and out of the port a few times. Much of the time, this takes care of the problem by correctly tripping the sensor. If that doesn’t work, there may be gunk in the port. Before turning to more invasive techniques, get a can of compressed air, attach the small tube that fits the nozzle, and blast a few shots of air into the port. With any luck, that should dislodge the gunk and the port will operate as it should.
If that doesn’t work, find a foam-tipped swab that fits (electronics shops generally carry them), dip it in rubbing alcohol, and gently insert it into the headphone port in an attempt to wipe away any stubborn gunk. I recommend foam rather than cotton swabs because the cotton variety might leave threads behind. (This same technique works well with misbehaving headphone ports on devices such as iOS devices.)
It's possible that gunk has nothing to do with it. Rather, it may be that the switch just needs a subtle nudge. If a jack or swab doesn't work, I've heard of people successfully resetting it with a deft poke of a toothpick.
