Since updating to ios 8 my wifi wont connect on ipad 3

Hi all
I've recently updated to ios 8.1.2 and now can't connect to the internet. The wifi signal from my router is strong and it will connect to the google search pages but as soon as I click on a link to a website I get an error message saying you are not connected to the internet. I have reset the router and reset the network settings on the ipad. I have also tried to connect at work and get the same problem so it is definitely a problem with the ipad. Can anybody help please???

  • Ever since updating to IOS 6, my wifi has not been staying connected

This is applicable for my iPad and iPhone 4S. My iPhone doesn't connect to my home wifi at all and my iPad has issues staying connected. I never have these issues using my work place's free wifi for either device. At home I lose connection with my WiFi on my iPad on a regular basis while I'm using the device. I have to turn WiFi off and back on to reconnect and that usually works, but sometimes I simply can't connect to the internet at all even though my iPad shows it is connected to my WiFi. These issues were not happening prior to the update and not a single thing has changed with my wireless at home. No other devices (PCs and other smartphones) are having any issues with the internet at home, it is only my Apple devices.
Help! This is extremely annoying and inconvenient and I have tried different things with my internet (reserving IP addresses and devices) and it does not work.

    Try #5.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Bluetooth won't discover my iPad2 since updating to iOS 8.2. Have tried hard reboot and restoring.

I have an iPad 2. I use a ZAGG keyboard with it.  Since updating to iOS 8, my Bluetooth cannot discover my iPad, so I can't use the keyboard.  I updated to iOS 8.2 hoping this would fix the problem. It didn't. I have done several hard reboots following online directions, didn't work. Tried restoring the iPad, didn't work. Is there something else I can do?

FWIW, my Zagg KB works well with my iPAD 2 (IOS 8.1). To my knowledge, there is no 8.2.....
Be sure BT is on. Turn the Zagg KB on. Go to the system area (Bluetooth). Press the connect button on the Zagg. Highlight the device. It should connect.

also i have no signal as i am on 3 so i can not currently use my phone till the wifi is working again and this is driving me mad!
    can anyone help?

This is a link to the Apple support page on this issue. Have you tried all of these steps?

Not sure what you mean that you have no signal but are on 3. What are you trying to say?

  • Cannot connect to my WIFI network since updating to IOS 7.0

Since updating to IOS 7.0, I have been unable to connect to my (or any) wifi network.
I have tried every suggestion / help from the forums / web searching.
I have tried different wifi connections (all the same - unable to connect to network).
Waited for the 7.0.3 to see if this has fixed the problem, but no..
I'm extremely frustrated and would like Apple to help.. I'm not the only person with this problem - and I haven't seen a single response from apple regarding this.
Since I am now out of the 1 year warranty - I will be pursuing this through the 'sale of goods' act in the UK if I don't receive a satisfactory response - I expect my device to last longer than a couple of years and consider the ipad broken as a result of the update...
Have been very happy with my apple devices up to this point, but loosing patience now!

You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Issues with wifi since updating to iOS 6 on iPad 3.

I'm having wifi issues since updating to iOS 6 on my iPad 3. I can't access certain sites and get error messages such as 'servor can't connect' and 'request timed out.' Although some sites work fine. I can't access apps which require internet such as facebook, iMessenger, face time and games which need internet access. I can't use iTunes or App store and get the message 'can't connect to iTunes try again.' All these problems started after I updated to iOS 6. I found that the iPad works fine at another location on a different wifi but not at home. The home internet is not the issue as laptops, phones and iPad 1 and 2 all work fine on the internet here. I took my iPad to the apple store with no help and no useful advice so came back again and they offered me a hardware swap which I took. I now have the new iPad but the issue still remains. I have tried everything and I have done everything that has been suggested. Some things I have done are reset network settings, reset all settings, changed wifi dns, changed HTTP proxy to auto, closed all apps and re-opened, fully shut down the iPad, turned off the wifi router and restored the iPad several times. I have searched for help and advice and found that there are many complaints about iOS 6 on the iPad 3 when it comes to wifi. What else is there for me to do to fix this problem? I can't use internet or apps that require internet, basically my iPad is of no use at the moment. Do I have to wait for a new software update which will address this problem?

Are you losing the connection to iTunes on the iPad or the computer? You are saying that iTunes is updated. Of course iTunes is updated when you update the iOS software. That's a no brainer.
If you mean that iTunes is updated on the computer, that has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with downloading and updating apps on the iPad itself so changing the date on the iPad, signing in and out of the stores on the iPad .... Doing any of that on the iPad would have nothing to do with iTunes on your computer.
If .... you have not been able to connect to the iTunes or app stores at all on the iPad - try this ...
Settings>Privacy>Location Services>System Services (swipe to the bottom of the page to find this)>Location Based iAds>Off.
If the downloads are stalled or "waiting" - try these suggestions.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If you can't connect at all - you can also try rebooting your router. Unplug it from power for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again.

  • Since updating to iOS 6 iPad uses cellular even though I'm on WiFi

Since updating to iOS 6, my iPad uses cellular to down load everything, even though I'm on my home WiFi. It shows that it is connected to my WiF, but, does't use it. As a result, my cellular usage has gone thru the roof. iOS 5.1 did not do that. iOS 5 would automatically switch to my network and work within my network and not cellular.  Other than switching off cellular when I'm home, is Apple going to fix this bug or any other suggestions?

Your answer was true with iOS 5.1 however, not with iOS 6. It's the same problem is occurring with iPhone 5. Apparently Apple has issued a patch for iPhone 5 using Verizon's cellular network. My iPad (3) uses Verizon's cellular network.
Not looking to avoid cellular charges but wanting my iPad to switch to WiFi when it's available. For example, at home my WiFi is on ALL the time. The icon showing that WiFi is on and active shows up in the upper left corner (as well as the Verizon icon) however, is still operating on the cellular network. I want the connivence I had with iOS 5. I don't need to be switching manually.

  • Since update to iOS 8 and iTunes 11.4 no sync to iPhone BUT works with iPad!

Strange behavior: Since update no sync with iPhone but no problem with iPad mini!
iPhone sync stucks on "waiiting to use the changes" (not sure about the correct transation from german).
Makes me crazy! I tried sync with cable, WiFi and every hint I found in Internet.
This time, Apple screwed it pretty good! Thanks!
    Mac OS Mavericks 10.9.4

I've had this same issue. I just updated to iOS 8.0.2 but the problem was not a fix in the release. I do have a legacy machine, a MacMini, which may be the issue, but she's still a great little work horse. Runs like a champ. Here are what I think may be the relevant lines from my log. Any ideas?

  • Since updating to iOS 7.0.4 my iPhone 5 doesn't work

    Hi there,
Since updating to iOS 7.0.4 my iPhone 5 stopped working.
The wifi function has since started working again (after 2 weeks) but the cellular 3G function still doesn't work.
Any ideas on how I can fix this?

    Hi ematthews,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has steps you can take for issues with your iPhone's cellular connection:

  • Problems since updating to iOS 7.

Hi everyone ! I got some problems since updating to iOS 7.My first problem is that my computer can't detect the photos from my iPhone 4.My second problem is that when I watch a video on Youtube or Facebook it keeps stopping for some seconds and then it plays normaly like it should. The third problem is that some apps change their look sometimes. What I mean is that the Calendar app sometimes takes a look from another app on the other page.So the calendar app sometimes looks like Minion Rush app.The calendar app isn't the only one app which does that. The fourth problem is that sometimes I can't acces the first page.My phone sometimes crashes when I try to swip to the first page.Does anyone has a solution for this or I will have to wait until next update in which they will maybe fix it ?

  • Since updating to iOS 6 on my iPhone 4S...

Since updating to iOS 6 on my iPhone 4S my iPod app runs very slow and crashes a lot. Once playing I can switch songs and what not with little difficulty, but if I go back to the list of songs/artists/etc it freezes or force quits. I don't know what to do as this is the only problem I've had. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Since updating to iOS 7, my new mail sound is unchangable. Please Help!

Ever since updating to iOS 7, my iPhone 4s came with a new sound for incoming emails. I cannot change it. It will physically let me change it...but new emails still come in with the sound that iOS7 came with and its driving me nuts. Ive reset, turned off and turned back on,  nothing helps.  My VIP email works great but my regular email wont let me change tones.

Basics from the manual still remain:  restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new.

  • Has anyone encountered drastic shorter battery life both on iphone 5 and ipad since updating to iOS 6.1.2? How can this problem be solved?

    Dear all,
I am new to this community even though I have been a Apple user for years, so please forgive me if this question is not in the right section.
Has anyone encountered drastic shorter battery life both on iphone 5 and ipad since updating to iOS 6.1.2? I've always been happy with these two products until the update - now the battery life is considerably shorter which is extremely frustrating.
How can this problem be solved? Is there any way to go back to the previous version?
    Thanks for your help.

If you update using iTunes the phone is first wiped clean, then the new OS is installed, and finally the backup is restored. After this finishes if you sync your music should be restored. Music is not in the backup, because it is already on your computer and duplicating it would use up a lot of hard disk space.
An OTA update just patches what has changed; it does not disturb content.
