Since upgrade to iOS4 Safari does not remember passwords

Since I've updated my 3GS to iOS4 via ITunes, Mobile Safari keeps asking to save username and passwords, even if I've visited the site before and said "Yes" to save username and password, at the next visit, Safari doesn't remember and I have to enter the details again.
I've already cleared Cache, History and Cookies, turned off and on the auto-fill option, but the problem persists.
Anyone got an idea ?

Apple seems to have completely missed browser user/password remember feature all over again. This had happened with iPhone 1.1.4 firmware as well. Hope they correct this issue with iOS 4.0.1 update. Apple discussion forum thread specifically mentions users with iPhone 3G and 3GS are facing this issue. Found this on http://iphoneindia.gyanin.com/2010/07/07/ios-4-0-bug-safari-does-not-remember-pa sswords/
Last time a mod called Fix Safari Cookies via Cydia did the trick - Tired of having to enter your username and password everytime you visit your favourite site? With FixSafariCookie not anymore! This package / utility overwrites your cookies and changes the permissions that safari can actually write and save your cookies.

  • Safari does not remember passwords correctly

    Hi all!
I use Safari with several online browser games, where I have to login with user name and password. However, Safari does not complete these forms after loading the page, instead it only completes everything when I have entered the first one or two letters of the user name.
I have read that this might be the case when there are multiple user accounts for one page or domain, but this is the only account for this specific page.
The pages uses some kind of transparent forwarding, so the user name/password information is transmitted to different subdomains, something like a load balancer, I guess (wod1.world-of-dungeons.net, wod2.world-of-dungeons.net,... you get the idea).
Auto-fill is enabled, the passwords are correctly stored in the keychain and everything works as normal once I start typing the user name.
Any ideas on what could cause this?
The page in question is (for example) http://world-of-dungeons.net/
I use Safari 3.1.1 on OSX 10.5.2 on a MacBook, if that helps.
    Thanks,
    Helge.

    Welcome to the Forums!
I don't usually use the AutoFill function, but as I understand it, AutoFill does not automatically populate the form fields when the page loads. You either need to start typing in a field, select Edit menu > AutoFill form (or use the Command-Shift-A keyboard shortcut), or add an AutoFill button to your toolbar (View menu > Customize Toolbar and drag it there) then click it after the page loads.
    Hope this helps...

  • Anyone know why, firefox does not remember password for a site when you remove password from the view password site? I removed a pasword in the view password window and now it not asking me to remember and also it is not remembering the password when I go

Anyone know why, firefox does not remember password for a site when you remove password from the view password site? I removed a password for a site that was not remembering the correct password for the "view password" window and now it does not guess the password and does not remember the password for that site. All other sites are being remembered.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== After I deleted the password from the view password window.

The saved password feature worked well, but the site I had saved the password for required that I change the password. I have found no way to update the password in Firefox. After I deleted the saved password, Firefox did not ask if I wanted the new password saved. When this happened before, I removed and re-installed Firefox, and then it worked. I hope there is another way to update a password.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • Since upgrading to Mavericks, Mail does not display the count of unread messages

    Hi,
I upgraded to Mavericks from Snow Leopard (on a Macbook Pro mid 2009) when Maverick went out.
Since then the count of unread messages in the Inbox is not displayed on the Dock Icon, nor in the app itself (the label Inbox does not change to bold with a count of unread messages when I do have unread messages).
I did when to see the preferences of the app to see if the move from Snow Leopard to Maverick changed anything but I could not see anything odd.
    Anyone having the same problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers,
    Martin Monnier

  • Safari 4.0 on Windows does not remember password when realm changes.

The site I am using requires authentication. Unfortunately authentication only works the second time (using a different realm). In that case Safari seems not to remember the password (and use it in further requests) so every page I visit in that secure site will require authentication from anew.

  • We had to intall a new hard drive and upgraded to Windows 8.1.  We can see all our music on I-tunes but when we try to sync the gen 5 nano our new music (since upgrade to 8.1) does not end up on the i-pod.  Any ideas.

We recently installed Window 8.1 and now our new music does not sync to our i-pod nano.  Any ideas?
We have tried both a generation 5 Nano and new Nano.

    Hey Terrible Teddy,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with the iTunes library on your PC. To begin, I see that you recently installed a new hard drive. Did you happen to copy over files from the previous hard drive? If not, I suspect that the iTunes library is no longer locally stored, and what you are seeing is your iTunes in the Cloud purchases.
Do the tracks have a download icon that looks like this?:
If so, you’ll want to download these purchases as they are not locally stored on your computer:

After doing so, go ahead and attempt to sync your iPod once more.

  • Safari will not remember passwords

I've only recently started using keychain but this has already gotten on my nerves. Almost all of my websites will not remember my password, and not just banking sites - even YouTube and MySpace ask for my password. And when I do, it gives me the "This password is different. Would you like to replace the saved password with this one?", even though it's the same.
I've searched the discussion pages and here's a list of solutions I've tried but to no avail:
    - Checking "User names and passwords" in Autofill in Safari preferences
    - Unchecking "Open with Rosetta" (wasn't checked anyway)
    - Deleting com.apple.safari.plist
    - Keychain First Aid
    - Creating new keychain
    - Deleting "Safari Forms Autofill"
    Can anyone help me out?
    Rob

I also have the same problem and have tried all the recommended solutions to no avail. I have finally switched to Firefox for most of my Web browsing because it does not present a similar inconvenience for me as does Safari right now. Nonetheless, I still wish that was not the only apparent solution to this problem for me, as I prefer Safari to Firefox otherwise.
If any of you finally do find a was to fix this once and for all, please clue me in, too.
    Thanks!

  • ITunes 9 does not remember password.

Is anyone else having this problem? Since iTunes 9 it no longer remembers my password. Even if I check the box to remember it I still have to type it in every time I update an app or download something.
Also, while this doesn't really matter right now because I always type in my password, what happened to the one-click purchase options? I would like to disable it due to the new layout of the app store but I can't find it in my account settings in iTunes.

Me too, but it's not everytime. Sometimes it seems to remember it and other times it doesn't. Very frustrating.

  • IPHONE 5 WI-FI does not remember password

My iphone 5 does  not memorize the Wi-Fi passwords.
I mean those with a popup screen when you connect to a Wifi network, then type in username/password.
I have to do it every time I connect!!!
My iphone4, and iphone3  used to be fine; Safari memorized those passwords and no re-typing was needed.

Had the same problem. I thought I had tried everything and then the answer was so simple (Thanks to a Chris on this forum!).
Went to 'other' in the list of wifi networks and entered the network name (beware of caps), correct security (in my case WEP) and password. Knew immediately it had worked because the 'forget this network' button appeared in the network details, which it hadn't before.
    Yippee!

  • Since upgrade to iOS 4 Safari does not remember Wi-Fi auto-login passwords

On the university campus where I work the public WiFi wireless network requires you to enter your university username and password. A login screen pops up in a special Safari window and asks for this information shortly after the iPhone connects to the access point and the DHCP server gives it an IP address.
After entering the info the first time Safari asks if I want it to remember the information. In iPhone OS 3.1.3, when I tapped Yes, it would actually remember the information and autofill it on subsequent visits. In iOS 4 it asks, and I say Yes, but it never remembers or autofills.
I suspect this is just a regression defect that we can't do anything about (other than complain, which I've done and I encourage others to do too if it's not just me), but I might as well ask, has anyone else noticed this, and is there a fix or workaround?
    Complain here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

It's not just you - I've got exactly the same problem. I use a university network, and I've always needed to log in every day, but now (since iOS4) my iPhone doesn't remember the ID and password. Every time I re-type the data, it asks me "Do you want to remember this?", and I say yes, and I've been doing that every day... and it still refuses to remember.
    Very annoying.

  • Safari does not remember websites

When I go to a site (apple forums, Sprint, or whatever) I have to type my user name and password to log where FireFox auto remembered everything. This is a pain as there are times when I forget my password as in the case when I tried to access my Credit Card and had to use FF just to do that, because Safari forgets everything. Is there a way to get Safari to remember the information? Its much faster than FF and is not as bug and speed ridden on FaceBook as FF. Safari seems to work much faster and with far less crashes on most websites.
    John

    HI John,
You need to set your Safari Preferences.
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences - AutoFill
Make sure: User names and passwords is selected.
Now go to a a site and logon. After you type in your user name and password Safari will prompt you to Never for this Website Now Now or Yes. Click Yes. That will save that data to your Keychain Access application (Applications/Utilities).

  • Safari does not remember web pages.

Lets use the website " apple.com " as an example. When you start to type the website in the address bar, with each letter you type, normally, safari would have a drop down box showing past websites visited. however, in my case, safari doesnt remember many/most sites. My question is; how do i make it so it remembers even those sites i havent visted in a long while. thanks for any help!
    -Brad-

    Bradley,
In order to come up with a list of options when you begin to type a URL into the address bar, Safari collates entries from your browser history as well as your bookmarks. The reason why you're not seeing the sites you visited a long time ago, is because Safari's history is set to retain only a limited number of days' worth of sites by default.
This article highlights one method of extending Safari's history to stretch back further. Of particular interest are the terminal commands listed in the comments section:
    defaults write com.apple.Safari WebKitHistoryItemLimit 9999
    defaults write com.apple.Safari WebKitHistoryAgeInDaysLimit 365
