Since upgrading to Lion my address book no longer communicates with iTunes? This means that no new information is getting to my iPhone etc? Any ideas? Thanks

Did you install Lion on an empty partition, or did you upgrade Snow Leopard? If you upgraded, I'd not recommend erasing it, since your backups are apparently gone. It's doubtful Snow Leopard will recognize them.
It's not just backups on the drive either, there are other important things on there, so why won't they show?
Mixing Time Machine backups and other data is not a good idea. See #3 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. It sounds like the whole disk is corrupted.
I just really don't understand how this happened. Could it not be an issue with WD because they haven't issued firmware to support Lion yet?
If this is a simple external HD, connected by USB or FireWire, no, unless you installed some of WD's software on it. That shouldn't prevent it from being seen at all, but anything's possible.

Address book no longer communicates with phone

My Address Book has stopped being able to dial my phone and sent text. It seemed to happen at the last OS automated update (perhaps). Address book can link to phone via link button, but does not dial or initiate text. Phone still announces incoming call on screen, and Bluetooth sees and can communicate with phone. The phone is a Sony Ericsson w800i. Can anyone suggest why this may have happened or what to do about it. Thanks.

You need to install the Sony Ericsson Address Book Enabler.

ICal and Address Book no longer syncing with iPhone - HELP!

I am a long time Apple user and rely heavily on my iPhone to keep me where I need to be, when I need to be there. I have an iPhone 4 and it is running OS 6.0.1. Everything was working fabulously until recently. Sadly I don't know when the problems started--when I updated to OS 6 OR when I updated iTunes to version 11. Either way, my iCal and Address Book no longer sync with my iPhone. And to add insult to injury, my phone is no longer automatically detecting the AT&T microcell I have in my house. I have to reboot my phone every time I come back in the house--talk about annoying.
I am not super techy, so I am hoping someone can help me with this. I LIVE by my iPhone and as a self-employed person, I can't afford for this device to stop giving me information. I also don't want to do entries on my phone AND computer everytime something changes. I do not want to go back to the more reliable paper calendar and address book.
I have iCloud turned on, and it appears to sync my address book with my iPhone. But I seem to be a mess with iCal and my desktop. And between iCal/Adress Book on my computer and iPhone, nothing is talking.
HELP!!!!

I think my company updated Exchange on Friday and since then I cannot sync with Mac Mail, Entourage does not seem to be working either?

Address Book no longer syncs with google contacts

After my switch to Lion, I'm noticing that my address book no longer syncs with my google contacts??
After I update my contacts in address book, it doesn't show up on google contacts and vice versa.
Is anyone else exprienceing this?

¡¡¡Ok, Something worked for me!!!
I have my address book empty, and then this is what I did:
1- Copy Address book app to downloads (or other folder) just to back it up
2- Install AppCleaner
3- Drag and Drop address book ap into app cleaner, make sure that it references to several files (all .plist files etc.) If there are no external references then try to drag and drop your backup, do it until you see the rest of references (uncheck address book widget)
4- After press clean in AppCleaner, it will delete everything.
5- Put back your address book app backup into your applications folder
6- Open it and if your are lucky you will see all the contacts again, they were like hidden....
Then I deleted all the contacts again and set up google account in preferences again, after that it syncs fine!!!

Upgrade from element 8 PC to element 12 mac and got an error that mac version doesn't support older element version. Any idea how to move catalog an pics?

Just upgraded Elements to version 12 on a Mac. Did a full backup on my Window based version 8 to external drive and when I wanted to do a restore on the V12 (Mac) got the following message: This catalog is from an older version of Elements and currently is not supported on the Mac platform. Please create a new catalog and then import your media". Any idea how I can maintain all the catalog data from the PC (I have about 25K pictures)?

There was a major change in catalog database format in PSE 9. You would need to install PSE 9 or later in windows, make the backup again and then restore that to the mac. You could conceivably do this with the trial if you didn't buy the boxed version of PSE 12 and so don't have the windows media.

Address Book and Groups vanished with Mavericks download. Is there a way to get them back?

Downloading Mavericks caused my Address Book and all associated email Groups to vanish along with all Bookmarks. Does anyone know of a way to get them back? I wish I had backups of these items, but it seems to me that the wise and sophisticated designers of Mavericks could have provided for incorporating existing data.
My printer which had been functioning perfectly under Mountain Lion suddenly showed up as disconnected. By good luck a download of new drivers from HP allowed me to print again.
I am annoyed that Apple did not make Mavericks seamlessly integrate existing data durng the download.
Oh well, it is what it is, so I'd be grateful for any ideas (other than beating me up because I don't have backups - I've already smacked myself around about that!)

Yes the iCloud seems to be enabled but I don't find a backup for the missing items, or perhaps I don't know how to access it. I haven't been able to find a way to open the backup files.

This was driving me crazy. Sync between Outlook 2007 and my iphone was working perfectly on ios 6 - I primarily sync Calendar, contacts, and notes.
Then everything went bizerk with ios 7... All of a sudden nothing was getting syncronized, but rather multiple Calendars and Contacts showed up in Outlook 2007. Disabling Calendar, contacts, and Notes in my iphone's icloud settings did the trick. Now I have ONE Calendar and ONE contact list in Outlook, fully in sync with my iphone.

My iPhone 5 was stolen and ever since has been showing offline in the 'find my iPhone app' this has been showing since the theft does this mean that they have failed to get into the phone and it has been switched off

My sons iPhone 5 was stolen out of his blazer pocket while in a games lesson, this was last period and on return to get changed find that someone from his class had stolen his phone from his zipped pocket. Straight away I went onto the find my iPhone on my phone and it has been showing offline since the phone was stolen. The phone had a password set on it and I have notified the police, school and also our carrier. The phone has been offline now for 32 hours, would this mean they have been unable to access the phone and switched it off? Is it possible for the phone to be jail broken while this password has been set. I am most angry that this has happened and the changing rooms are always locked while the lessons take place, so this is someone within my sons class that has stolen the phone. Being a Friday And last lesson the phone is long gone now but I'm hoping with the security measures we have put in place with the pass code etc.... That they won't be able to unlock the phone to use it. The phone was only 2 days old as my son had only just upgraded :(

All you may infer is the device hasn't been turned on where it can connect to Wi-Fi.
The phone may be jailbroken if there is no lock passcode to prevent access. However, the phone can be completely erased and restored as new. In this case you will have no ability to locate it or prevent it from being jailbroken.

I'm using a WD NAS as my time machine backup drive and since upgrading to Lion the time machine won't operate with the drive. How am I to retrieve my photos and documents from it?

I realise it is the responsibility of WD to maintain the network storage interface for time machine. What is a solution for retrieving files from time machine?
When trying to re-add the drive a message said the version of the system is not supported.

Iphone 4 since upgrade to ios 5.1.1 no longer works with made for itunes, iphone devices.

Ever since I upgraded to IOS 5.1.1 my Iphone no longer works for playing music thorugh my Apline car unit, My Logic 3 clock radio, and a Next made for ipod device.
I can sync through ITunes on the PC and can also play videos through the HDMI adapter.   My wifes iphone 4s and the kids hand me down iphone 3s still play fine through these made for Itunes , Ipod , Iphone devices.
I want to downgrade back to the prior IOS I had before Apple encouraged me to install this bugged one.   How do I go about getting a legit non jailbroken prior IOS version installed on my Iphone?
Is Apple aware of this issue , as I have seen blogs about this it is affecting other people?   Will this issue be resolved with ios 6?
Can I get the beta ?

Agreed. Same thing here. Just bought a late model Alpine INE-S920Hd and it is all kinds of broken. I think this is happening because Apple shifted the music and video. Totally buggy. Bluetooth refuses to work properly, too. A2dp keeps stealing the audio from Pandora in the Alpine interface. The ipod controls dont work at all.

Since MBA no longer working with iTunes, should I skip buying new iPad2

Since the upgrade to 10.6.7 on my new 13" MBA, my iTunes does not work, my battery does not work, and several other issues are having problems.
My question is: Since my new iPad 2 is scheduled to arrive here by the end of the month should I cancel this order now as I won't be able to connect it toTunes?
I have owned various apple computers since 2002 and this is the first time that Apple so royally screwed up my new machine with this new update that I am embarrassed for them.

What's this about iTunes not working on new MBA with OS X 10.6.7?? That's what I'm running although 11" instead of 13" but I doubt that would make much of a difference, and my iTunes works fine. Although, before this I wasn't spending $130 to upgrade to Snow Leopard from Tiger with a 4 year old laptop, so I hooked my iPhone up to my work comp using XP, and when I got my MBA, plugged in the iPhone, I had the option of keeping the songs on my phone and not syncing with my "old" library, or erasing all the new songs and syncing with my "old" library. Pretty sure that's intentional though.

I can't figure out what's going on. Been working on this all day. Yes, all the preferences are checked off and I've triple checked everything. The truth is, after many experiments, I think the problem has to do with how address book is communicating with my contact list. I use quickbooks 2012 for mac. It has all of my customers and vendors synched with my address book on my mac. If I add a customer in quickbooks it shows up in address book on my mac. But it doesn't show up in Icloud or on my Iphone. If I manually add a customer to my Iphone it synchs fine with Icloud and my address book. It seems that the only time devices can't communicate is when I add a contact in quickbooks. No matter what I do, I can't get the new contact from quickbooks to icloud or my iphone. It looks like those programs/devices completely ignore the new contact in address book that was created in quickbooks. I realize you probably can't help me here but if you have any ideas let me know.

Cant burn since upgrading to Lion

I have had that same problem, but it was unrelated to any upgrade.
In my case the optical drive was simply failing, and I replaced it - it was a Powerbook, about eight years old.
It is possible that it's unrelated to Lion, as unlikely as this may seem, since you've just upgraded.
Optical drives seem to be the most life-limited component in these computers. The laser just seems to get weak with age.

Since upgrading to Lion, iCal event invitations are not working well.

Since upgrading to Lion last week, I am having problems with sending iCal event invitations to large groups of people (say 10 people or more). Although my iMac, iPhone, and iPad iCals show that invitations have been sent, only a few of those invited have actually received event invite emails.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, any insight into the problem or solution?
