Since upgrading to OS Lion, airport express can't see any remote speakers to pair with. Why?

My iTunes no longer gives me the selection for remote speakers. I hav an airport extreme and airport express. I have solid green lights for both. Does anyone have a clue what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

ML will show the AVCHD as a pkg, so you are not able view the directories like BDMV-->Stream-->MTS. You can right click AVCHD file, then choose show package contents. you will see BDMV, then you right click BDMV to choose show package, you will see stream folder, just do it again, you will find MTS files. Next time if you want to check the MTS files you just need to do above again. right click AVCHD....
Another way, rename AVCHD to AVCHD.mts then do it same with BDMV and Stream folder, it will let you see MTS files after that. Those mts files will keep showing on your mac next time.

I honestly don't know if DW CS5 is compatible with Win 8.1. The OS compatibility FAQ only mentions DW CS6 & CC.

Airport Express can't 'see' my TimeCapsule Airport

Im trying to use an Airport Express to extend the range of my TimeCapsule Airport Extreme wireless network, however my Airport Express doesn't appear to be able to 'see' my existing wireless network when I try to configure it using Airport Utility.
FWIW, the TimeCapsule Airport network works fine and is running firmware 7.4. My Airport Express is running 6.3 firmware (I think its the latest for that model). I get a WDS error when trying to configure the Express - anyone know what that means and what the problem is.
More importantly, can these two devices play nicely together and cooperate. Maybe up/downgrades in firmware might help? Any ideas greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid that you're trying to mix an older "g" device with a newer "n" device in order to provide more wireless coverage for your network. To use Apple's "extend a wireless network" feature, all devices must be "n" capable. Since you have an older "g" AirPort Express and a newer "n" Time Capsule, your only option is to use Apple's WDS arrangement.
Tesserax has provided excellent step by step instructions for the WDS type setup and we can provide you with the links to these threads, but you might want to consider the downsides to the WDS setup.
1) The entire wireless network will drop down to "g" levels
2) The bandwidth of the wireless network will be reduced by 50%
You might want to take a look at an upgrade to a newer AirPort Express "n". This would allow you to maintain "n" speeds throughout your network and there is much less of a bandwidth loss with this type of setup...about 10-15% on average.
Please post back with what you would like to do and we can furnish help for either type of configuration.

Since upgrading to 10.8 my iMac can't see video files to copy across in Finder when connecting my AVCHD camcorder via USB

Hi, I usually connect my Panasonic AVCHD Camcorder via USB to copy the .MTS files across to my iMac for editing. Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, Finder sees the directories for photos stored on the Camcorder but not the video directories/files. I can see them via Parallels. Any ideas why?

Airport Express can only extend network, not create new one. Why?

I am sharing a flat with some friends. The shared broadband router is placed in the living room. To strengthen the signal and make it easier for me to manage, I bought an Airport Express, connected it to the shared router with an ethernet cable and set up a wireless network of my own in my room. It was working fine, until recently we renewed our broadband contract. The router had been replaced by a new one (I don't know why) and the network configration had been changed. Since then I was not able to use my own network. In the Airport Utility display, the light of Airport Express is green, but the light of Internet is yellow, and the status is disconnected. I tried to change various other configuration on the Airport Express, and all in vain. Until I switched the network mode from 'Create a new wireless network' to 'Extend a wireless network', the Internet connection was finally back online. But this merely extends the existing network and not what I want. Why this happens? Why my Airport Express can only extend a network, not create one?

Here is the situation on my Airport Express.

See my problems here? The Airport Express does not show anything in amble, but the Internet complains that there is no connection.
This problem did not occur before the broadband was renewed and the rounter was replaced.

Airport Express Can't See Base Station

I have an airport extreme base station that has two computers normally connected to my network wirelessly (iMac G4 and Powerbook G4) which have worked fine for months. After completing an apple security update this evening on both computers the Powerbook G4 did not automatically connect to the network upon restart as it normally does. The iMac G4 started up fine and is how I am posting this note. The powerbook on the toolbar shows the network I want to join but when I select it (and and see the check mark next to it) I still cannot access the internet. When I run the Airport admin utility it cannot see any base stations (despite the iMac sitting 1 foot away and working perfectly). When I manually give it the IP address and password it says "unable to read the configuation of the selected base station." When I try the Airport Setup Assistant it also lists my network as one that I can choose but when I click on the "continue" button it says "unable to establish a network connection" and that my computer could not connect to the internet. Help!!! I have tried every angle I can thing of to get the Powerbook to connect like it did a few hours ago.

I have just discovered the same problem. After downloading the latest security update my Powerbook G4 [10.3.9] can not "see" any base station or express and/or connect to my network. The G5 running 10.4.5 works fine and sees all. Everything had been working just fine before the update then... Have tried all the work arounds I can think of and wasted a great deal of time. Any answers out there?

Mountain Lion airport utility can't see my old airport extremes

Hi - grateful for any help - I have two old style airport express that have been working fine. I've now set up a new network with a new router and want to add them to this network. However the airport utility in Mountain Lion can't see either extreme. I've reset one extreme to see if that works but still nothing. The other extreme still shows as a network option through wifi so it is transmitting but nothing through the utility?

I had the same problem, the referenced macworld article worked great. Downloaded the free unpkg app so I could install utility 5.6.
HERE'S my soapbox...I call apple with the problem and they ask if I have an older computer running the old airport utility software. No, that's why I purchases a new apple computer, because my old one finally quit after 7 years. Then basically I'm out of luck and there's nothing they can do for me.
BUT if my airport express is working great, why won't you support a utility program to allow me to configure it? If I can download and install 5.6 with a quick hack-around, and it runs in mountain lion, why didn't you allow me to do that apple?
Unfortunately the only answer I can come to is that apple is trying to get me to upgrade my airport express, despite the fact I have two airport express' which already work fine and just needing a config tweak. And that grates my skin. I pay a premium for apple because it works, because their products typically live longer physically...but to have them try to force me to upgrade my wireless equipment when I just upgraded my computer. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth!

My airport express can't see my wireless network

I am bringing up a new AE in my wireless network. I have set all the internet and wireless configurations. I am trying to add it as a client, initially connected to my router via ethernet. After tweaking several settings I am now down to what seems like a critical problem: Airport Utility tells me that my AE cannot see the wireless network. This is a bit amusing since I unplugged the ethernet and am communicating with it solely via wireless.
My config: static IP addr reserved in my router, WPA2 encryption, ethernet clients allowed, using my router as the default DNS server. Running the latest firmware and Airport utility according to Apple Software Update this afternoon. Router is an SMC Barricade N with latest firmware.
Any and all advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the ideas, but alas those are not the cause.
I am broadcasting SSID and I am running mixed b/g/n mode. FYI Airport Utility finds my network OK, as do the many other pieces of networking equipment in my house (4 computers, a NAS, an SMC wireless client, etc etc etc.) Even my son's Touch, after going through very similar games with Apple, solved by an OS upgrade a couple months later...but I digress.
Spent an hour with the Apple expert on the phone verifying everything was right on the AX and then took it to my local apple store where they were able to connect it to their G router as a client - thus eliminating wrong AX config and broken HW as a cause.
Here is what I know: it has to be able to see my router because when I bring it up my router sees it and issues it an IP address. I might reserve the IP and then set it to always use that. That is one of the things we did to get the Touch working initially.

Since upgrading to latest iOS, my WLAN can not see many wifi networks, my friends iPhones pick them up easily. What should I do?

Since upgrading my 4s iPhone to the latest iOS , I now can not see many wi-fi locations beyond my home network. Friends can find and connect to many wifi networks yet my iPhone does not even see them. I can not recall prior to the upgrade whether in the settings whether turning on the wifi was shown as wifi or WLAN however the on/off is now WLAN. Not sure what the difference is. I totally reset the phone but no improvement. Can any body help me?

I have tried this however it did not make a difference. I found another user on the support pages that has the same issue.

Airport Express can't see Linksys router

Hi, I'm getting nowhere trying to get my Airport Express to find my Linksys E2000 router and I hope someone here can help.
The E2000 is connected to the internet and both laptops in the house, an iphone and an Android phone can all use it successfully. I have a 1 month old Airport Express which I'd like to use to stream music. Until today I've been using the Express as the wireless router without problems so I know it can be used in that capacity. In the Airport Utility, the Express is found but after setting the Wireless Mode to 'Join a wireless network', the droplist of visible networks does not include the E2000's secured network. Curiously, the unsecured guest network created by the E2000 can be seen. The network which can't be seen is secured with WPA2-PSK. I've tried disabling the firewall on the E2000 but this had no effect.
Has anyone else come across anything similar with the Linksys routers or similar? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It won't come up up in Airport Admin Utility. To configure the router launch a browser. Typically Linksys routers use 192.168.1.1 as the admin address for their routers. Once there, use admin as the password to gain access. If it won't let you in you will need to reset the router to factory default settings. Check the Linksys web site for the router manual.

ITunes 11 Airplay works for one Airport express, can't see the other

I have two Airport Express units in my house - both working, both with speakers hooked up to them. My iPhone can send music to both of them, but iTunes 11 only shows one of them. Any ideas?

Hi there. I have had numberous problems with my upgrade to IOS6, particularly with the Camera/Photos. Two big ones: The camera does not orient itself properly when taking horizontal photos. You take a horizontal photo and it never rotates properly. So I have to go into Photo Shop and rotate each one manually. Sometimes it does not recognize horizontal from vertial when taking as well.
Also, I can not download ANY videos to iphoto or via Image Capture. The error I get for every video (both new videos shot after upgrade and those that date back to before the upgrade): Import Error An error occured while importing. The item ZZZZ.MOV was not imported.
I have all my software updates on both my phone and computer.
Any suggestions?

I would try restarting you Mac if you haven't already. If you still can't get either iPhoto or Image Capture to work, you could try something else, like PhotoSync or PhoneView.

Airport Express can't see printer

I have a Brother HL-2040 laser connected to a brand new Airport Express. The AE unit works fine in all other respects but doesn't seem to see the printer. When I go to printer utility and click "add" nothing shows. When I look in the airport admin utility there is no usb printer shown. I have unplugged and replugged the various things, restarted my Macbook etc. Any suggestions? Very frustrating! Many thanks.
PS--Brother's support page specifically says this printer should work with 10.4.x via Printer Setup Utility.

Well I must apologize--I had failed to fully insert the usb cable at one end. When I corrected this the printer was immediately recognized and now works fine.

Airport extreme can't see any wireless networks.

Hi, I have an iMac that has always used an ethernet connection to the internet, but now I want to connect wirelessly. But it doesn't seem to "see" any networks, mine or otherwise, which work fine on my other apple devices. Does the fact that my wireless card was purchased (as was the imac itself) overseas make it incompatible with US wireless networks? Or is the card broken and I have to take the computer in for repair? Or is there some way I can resolve it myself?

The reason I asked is I like using Verizon Messages and found out via a chat on your website that with iMessaging, you can't see those messages on Verizon Messages. This phone is for a teen ager so I want to make sure all of the fun things about an iPhone are still intact if I turn off iMessage. r do you know of an Apple product that works the same way as Verizon Messages?
