Since upgrading to OS X Yosemite I can't run pro tools LE

I up graded my i Mac to run on OS X Yosemite 10.10.2.
Since uploading I have discovered that my pro tools LE is not compatible with this new operating system.
How can I address this?
Can I uninstall OS X?  If so, how do I uninstall?
Cheers,
Shaughno

Have you checked for an update to the program?
Do a backup, preferably 2 separate ones on 2 separate drives.
Revert to a Previous OS X - Yosemite
Revert to former OS from Mavericks
Revert to Snow Leopard
Revert Yosemite to Mavericks
If you do revert, I'd use Setup Assistant to restore your data. This process takes a while, so do it when you won't need the computer for several hours, based on my experience.

  • HELP!! Since upgrading to Mac OS x 10.3.2 my Pro Tools sessions won't open!

Can anyone please help me. I was running Mac OS 9 and Pro Tools 5.1 on my Mac G4. I needed to upgrade to add a new piece of equipment. So I was told to update to Mac OSx 10.3.2 and Pro Tools 6.0. Since doing so, when I try to open my Pro Tools, it opens, but when I try to open a new session, I keep getting a small screen that says I must restart my computer. AFter restarting and repeating the above, I get the same message over and over. I tried updating to Mac OSx 10.3.8 and the problem is still occuring. Can anyone out there give me some advice on what to do next??? Thank you!!!

    Hi Susan,
I dont know what the specific issue is but will try to be helpful anyway.
If this were my problem the first thing I would assess (preferably from Digidesign) is - is PT 6.x known to be compatible with Mac OSX 10.3.x ?
Once this hurdle has been cleared, and assuming that the compatibility is there,
then I would want to know if your install/upgrade to 10.3.8 is 'clear'. Meaning, you've run Disk Utility *from the Panther Retail install disk* and DU is showing no errors, either with Permissions or with "Repair Disk". The logic being an app cant be expected to work right on top of an OS that isnt even healthy.
Next, you say PT launches. You seem to imply that either:
    a. File/Open/sessionX
    or
    b. 2x clicking a session
causes some kind of window to appear. Is that a PT related window or OSX type window ?
Does the window occur with either a. or b. above or with only one method or what ?
Can you do a "File / New ..." and not see the window appear ?
    Best,
    Chris

  • Can't login to Hotmail via Safari since upgrading to OS X Yosemite

Has anyone else had a problem logging into Hotmail.com or Outlook.com via Safari (or Firefox, Chrome and any other browser) since upgrading to OS X Yosemite?  I can log in via Safari on my iPad and iPhone, but not on my 2008 iMac running Yosemite.
    Thanks.

The Canon MG series uses two protocols - Apple's Bonjour and Canon's own "canonijnetwork". Bonjour is used by the printer and scanner component, while the Canon protocol is used by the printer only. Given that you cannot locate either via the Add printer window and I'm assuming the printer is networked, then open Safari and then its preferences and select the Advanced tab. You will see an entry of Bonjour and the option to enable it in the Favorites bar or Bookmarks menu bar. Enable one of these and then close the Safari Preferences window. Now open the Bonjour bookmark (via the Favorites bar or Bookmarks menu). Do you see the MG5220?
If not, then check what IP address it is using by printing a network data list. If you then enter the IP address into Safari (for example http://10.0.1.10) this should connect to the internal web page of the printer. Does this happen? If yes, then it at least shows that you have a working connection between your Mac and the printer. If it does not connect to the MG5220 web page, then check what IP address your Mac is using and compare that to the MG. Typically for a home network the first three sets of numbers in the IP address (known as the subnet) are the same and the last number (known as the network address) is different for each device on the local network.

If you have an external drive with an OS X Time Machine backup, then do restore of your last backup. If you have an external drive  with a bootable clone of your previous system, you can boot to that clone and re-clone the OS X on your external drive back to your Mac's internal drive.
If you do not have either of these available, then the reverting/restoring process becomes much more complicated and involves purchasing an external drive and backing up your current system to that drive, then erasing, reformatting your hard drive and now your only options to installng an OS X version is doing a clean install of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, then upgrading, again, to either OS X 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion. OS X 10.9 Mavericks is no longer available for download and Apple has not made OS X 10.9 Mavericks available in any other form to be able to redownload and install.
Maybe it would be better to explain in detail your issues with Yosemite to see if any of us here can help you with your difficulties.
I am not running or using Yosemite, so I cannot help you with your Yosemite issues,
There are others here who can help you with Yosemite.
    Good Luck.

    Thx Leonie,
Surprisingly, I just went to the crash reporter and there were no reports re: the iPhoto issue. This is the only report I found, which I not sure is related to the iPhoto issue:

As for the TimeCapsule indeed, I use it as an extended drive but I'm surprised it would be considered a FAT-32 formatted drive as this is an Apple device.
I asked the apple reps if I could use the TimeCapsule for such purpose and no one raised a concern. It's also surprising that I didn't have an issue with this prior to the upgrade to OS X Yosemite.
Having said the above, thank you for your help - if the TimeCapsule is indeed the issue, perhaps I can solve the issue by transferring the iphoto library to an OS extended hard drive.

  • Since upgrading to OS X yosemite my printer will not work.

Since upgrading to OS X Yosemite my printer will not work.

I found the solution in another thread. Thanks to frankglyn who posted it there.
I've just copied it here, as this seems to be the most active thread on this subject.
The solution (steps A to C) worked fine for me and others and should work for you as well, until Kodak will come with an updated driver. Then, you can revert the changes as also described below (steps 1 to 7)
    A) in Spotlight Type Terminal and then press enter.
This should bring up the terminal window/program.
    B) In the Terminal type sudo sh -c 'echo "Sandboxing Relaxed" >> /etc/cups/cups-files.conf'
It will ask for your password.
    C) After that type following: sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsd
After that if you are lucky the printer driver should start to work. (which it did in my case)
I hope this works out for you, if not then you can do following to revert the changes:
In case you want/have to revert the changes:
    1) Open the terminal as usual (Spotlight type Terminal hit enter and wait for the terminal window to appear)
    2) then type: cd /etc/cups
    3) then type: sudo nano cups-files.conf
    4) 'type in your password'
This brings up a command line editor which you can use to edit the file
    5) Remove the last line which says Sandboxing Relaxed
    6) press 'ctrl x'
And then confirm with y when being asked if you want to save the changes
    7) after that type sudo launchctl start org.cups.cupsd

Have been using Lightroom on my Apple computer for years. Now, ever since upgrading to Apple's  Yosemite operating system I get an error message (150:30) every time I try to open a lightroom file. Has anyone else experienced this problem?  Also how do I subscribe to Adobe's Premium Support? Every time I've tried (through contact support) I just get taken on an unending loop.

I think we need a lot more information.
Exactly what does the message say?
Exactly what files are you trying to open?
Exactly how are you trying to open them (what menu command or button or mouse action or keyboard shortcut)?
And lastly, what version of Lightroom are you using?

Thank you Meta, but I could not get the calendar and contact sync with Gmail to work. Apple support already suggested to use Google or a Windows PC. Maybe I should actually reset and try my old Windows PC. Seriously, ... can this be the solution after a Mac OS update for pure Apple users?

I honestly don't know if DW CS5 is compatible with Win 8.1.  The OS compatibility FAQ only mentions DW CS6 & CC.

I have had this problem for close to a year. I have an Extreme base station, two Airport Express's and multiple G4 Mac's with up to date software. I have spent a huge amount of time trouble shooting, resetting, reapplying software and finally calling Applecare without any help. It would be great to get this problem solved.

Since upgrading to OS 10.6, I can no longer drag email addresses into my address book. Is there a quick way to restore this function that had worked in OS 10.4 but is apparently disabled in 10.6? Is there a work around someone figured out that's quick? I wish Apple would send out a patch to fix this problem. Any news on this front?

    James,
Although slightly different than the problem you are having, perhaps 10.6: Change Mail's 'Copy Address' behavior - Mac OS X Hints will help with your problem.
