Since upgrading to Snow Leopard from V10.4.8 My copy of Open office won't load. I've downloaded the latest version but it still responds with a "time out" message. Anyone know waht's up and what I can do about it. I can't even read my old files.
Since upgrading the OS on my MacBook to Snow Leopard my open office suite has died. All the old files are still on the HDD, but even "finding" them doesn't help as they are opened, unhelpfully, in Text Edit, which loses some of the formatting. I tried downloading the latest edition of Open Office, but it has made no difference. Any suggestions? Apple OS support has no solution to offer.
Found this, which might provide a clue:
I have had problems with 3.1 after installing Snow Leopard, with files created in MS Word - they come up with the text invisible (as though it's white, but changing the text colour doesn't help - by highlighting I can tell that the paragraphs are where they should be).
I upgraded to 3.1.1 but that did not solve the problem...
UPDATE: I found out the problem, it was nothing to do with Open Office, but rather the way Snow Leopard handles fonts. I went into the Font Book and found that a number of common fonts are now listed both in the "User" and "Computer" collections. I deleted the duplicate ones from "User" and now all works perfectly.

When I opened my itunes, it told me to download the latest version, so I clicked "Ok". Now i don't have itunes on my computer at all anymore. And it won't let me re-install it. What happened???
I have found a temporary solution, allowing the previous version of iTunes (v. 11.1.3 (x64) in my case) to be re-installed. It will allow you to re-establish use of iTunes until the Apple software engineers fix the most recent disasterous upgrade (v. 11.1.4). After I updated to 3.6.8 I started noticing on a game I play at UniversalCriminal.com that randomly when I click on a link, firefox will load the appropriate page and as soon as it finishes loading that page it will refresh or reload the same page. It doesn't happen on any particular link it just happens randomly, and not all the time but most of the time. I tried reverting back to an earlier version of firefox but it still happened. I uninstalled firefox and reinstalled the latest version but it still happens. It doesn't do it with IE or Chrome or Opera. What gives? Any ideas anyone?

I'm creating a book from an album in iPhoto. I have downloaded the latest version of iPhoto. When I choose a book, i.e. wirebound, 19-20 page book, it shows a 42 page book when I am populating the pictures in the book I've selected. Is that because I have more pictures in the album?
In any case, I can't seem to manipulate/choose the number of pages I want. How can I stick with the 20 page book I want?
Thanks.You can not select the "number of pages" - you select the photos and the page layours and the number of pages comes form that - with Autoflow iPhoto uses random page layouts so the number of pages is rando=m
You can change layouts to include more photos, move photos to the pages with no empty photos frames and then delete the pages at the end after the photos are used elsewhere

i deleted everything in appdata under mozilla & macromedia and deleted the plugins folder from my installation folder for ff3. uninstalled ff3, reinstalled ff3. now everything works fine. just have to redo my bookmarks & settings.

I use Windows Vista as my OS.
I can navigate from window to window in firefox, or navigate between pages on a website OK, and I can close out windows until I get to the last one, and then it doesn't respond. I don't get a message that it isn't responding, it just sits there and won't close.
I'm not having this problem if I use windows explorer, but it keeps not responding while I'm browsing, so thats just as frustrating.

Okay, I'm using CS2 and since upgrading to Snow Leopard I have been unable to "save as" .bmp once I choose save, Photoshop crashed
Well CS3 is officially "unsupported" (but still works OK). But CS2, given the under-the-hood changes to the OS, is doubtful that it will work at all. Or as you are experiencing, works sometimes and crashes on certain things. Best to consider an upgrade.
