Since upgrading to ver 3.6.13 FF not closing!

Hi Folks,
Since upgrading to ver. 3.6.13 FF won't close unless I do so through Task Manager|Processes.
I haven't installed any new Add-ons, Themes or Extensions. Just allowed Add-ons and/or Extensions to upgrade.
BTW, I've been using FF for several now and have upgraded every time the new versions have come out (and '''ONLY'''' from the FF site!!).
Any ideas???

* "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
* "Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Recently, since upgrading to ver. 8.0.1, videos are extremely choppy, scrolling is choppy and loading pages is slug slow. I have a very fast quad core i7 processor and plenty of RAM & HD space.

Sometimes a video will start smooth but within moments it becomes very choppy and jumps from image to image. The browser itself does the same thing where it bogs down to a crawl and scrolling is also very choppy. Very frustrating. I have been using Firefox for years now since it first hit the scene, but until I upgraded to ver. 8 this did not happen.

Since upgrading to ver 12 from 9.01 It takes between 15-30 minutes to startup then anything I click just has the spinning wheel ie wait. Both Ie and Chrome work

I had no issues with Ver 9.01 but since upgrading to Ver 12 it takes forever to startup but is unusable when it finally comes up. Any ideas why and how do I fix it. IE 9 and Chrome have no issues.

Try to start Firefox in [[Safe mode|Safe mode]]. This mode disables all extensions, user customizations, hardware acceleration, etc. temporarily for diagnostic and troubleshooting. If Firefox works fine in Safe Mode, then this is likely an add-on issue. Restart Firefox in normal mode, then type "About:addons" (without the quotes) in the address bar. Disable your extensions one by one, restarting Firefox between each one, until you find the trouble maker. Once you do, you can disable that add-on and report the issue to that add-on's developer.
A few other basic trouble shooting things you can try is this:
Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.
Update your graphics driver (Firefox uses your graphics card for some rendering, and an out of date graphics card driver can cause problems. [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers].
Update all your plugins (Flash, Java, etc.): [http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/ http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/].
Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. [http://www.malwarebytes.org/ http://www.malwarebytes.org/]. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. You can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.

Since upgrading to windows 8.1 I can not see any local files in the files window.

I have recently upgraded to windows 8.1 and can no longer see my local files in the files window. All remote files for all remote sites are visable.
If I change sites under local view get error thet dreamweaver can not update cache

I honestly don't know if DW CS5 is compatible with Win 8.1. The OS compatibility FAQ only mentions DW CS6 & CC.

Make sure People Sending you via iMessage are sending their messages on your PHONE number not on your EMAIL addresses . My sister had the same problem, thats how i managed to solve it!

So you have business contacts that were lost... do you not have these on a Database in some shape or form? Sounds like you need to invest in a RAID1 backup setup for your computer so you dont have this issue in the future.
As for repairing your problem, sounds like you are going to need to start from scratch at this point or if the data is still on your phone look into a program that can take the information from the phone onto iTunes.

I can't help you with why your PC won't upgrade to W8.1, but I can tell you that if you manage to get W8.1 to install, you won't be able to get the graphics to work anymore.
There is no W8.1 driver for the graphics setup in your PC.
So maybe it is a good thing that you can't get it to work.

I just discovered that by turning off in tracked changes balloons in Word preferences prevents the software from crashing, but from then on I need to use only the review pane.

Why, since upgrading to iTunes 11, are my devices not being recognised on my MacBook Pro?

Yet another: Crucial memory causes restart during sleep mode And another: Kernal Panic after wake from sleep after installin... I've just contacted the retailer and they're going to switch it - again. Hopefully it'll be fixed this time, otherwise I guess there's a fabrication error in these chips and we'll have to wait for Crucial to fix this (or we're going to have to look for another manufacturer).

Since upgrading to Lion last week, I am having problems with sending iCal event invitations to large groups of people (say 10 people or more). Although my iMac, iPhone, and iPad iCals show that invitations have been sent, only a few of those invited have actually received event invite emails.

Did you install Lion on an empty partition, or did you upgrade Snow Leopard? If you upgraded, I'd not recommend erasing it, since your backups are apparently gone. It's doubtful Snow Leopard will recognize them.
It's not just backups on the drive either, there are other important things on there, so why won't they show?
Mixing Time Machine backups and other data is not a good idea. See #3 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. It sounds like the whole disk is corrupted.
I just really don't understand how this happened. Could it not be an issue with WD because they haven't issued firmware to support Lion yet?
If this is a simple external HD, connected by USB or FireWire, no, unless you installed some of WD's software on it. That shouldn't prevent it from being seen at all, but anything's possible.

Since upgrading my 4s iPhone to the latest iOS , I now can not see many wi-fi locations beyond my home network. Friends can find and connect to many wifi networks yet my iPhone does not even see them. I can not recall prior to the upgrade whether in the settings whether turning on the wifi was shown as wifi or WLAN however the on/off is now WLAN. Not sure what the difference is. Are you still having this issue? SofTest's Guided Access seems to be working alright on my iPad, although I think there was a small stretch where it wouldn't work.

Since upgrading Mozilla IE7 keeps stating it is NOT the default browser despite it being checked.

Mozilla and IE7 were working fine but since upgrading IE7 will not remain the default browser. Everytime I launch IE7 it states it is not the default browser. How do I resolve this issue.

Do you have IE as the default, and then, when you open Firefox, do you have it set to check if it is the default?
To check it, Inside Firefox, click on Tools, then Options. Go to Advanced. Look at the Default Browser option in there. Make sure the Checkbox to always check if Firefox is the default is unchecked if you don't want to use Firefox as your default (If you want it as default, leave it checked).
Then, you can op[en up IE, and make it your default.
