Since upgrading to Yosemite mu USB 3 to Ethernet adapter not working

I just recently (earlier today) upgraded to Yosemite 10.10 from Mavericks and now my USB 3.0 to ethernet adapter is not working.  I see a bunch of people complaining about this online but I can't follow the solutions.  They seem to be playing with plist files and kext files but I am not sure what to do.  Any help on getting this resolved would be greatly appreciate.
Let me know what information is needed.
I am using a MacBook Pro 2.3GHz Intel Core i7.  It is Model MacBookPro11,3 which is a Retina 15".  I bought it February of this year.

Well, the issue with USB anything is that the device manufacturers have to supply compatible drivers. Check with CableMatters for an updated driver.

Since upgrading iPhone 4S to new OS it has not worked. Now over 10 days with no phone, talked to Apple Care in Colorado and Australia over 10 hrs on phone 7 consultants. All that has to happen is for someone at Apple Care to reset a password? Phone and Apple ID don't recognise each other. This is nuts!

  • Since upgrading to Mountain Lion 'Add Bookmark Here' does not work in Safari

Hi, since upgrading from Lion to Mountain Lion, Safari does not add bookmarks to a folder on the Bookmarks Bar using the Add Bookmark Here sub menu item.
The dialogue for adding the name of the Bookmark appears but I have to click OK twice and the bookmark does not save.
Does anyone have any suggestions for fixing this bug?  Thanks...

Thanks mejudy that worked!  Much appreciated
I also tried removing the Bookmarks.plist file from the Safari library and restarting Safari.  I then quit Safari, copied the file back and now the Add Bookmark here sub menu has gone altogether.
Is that how its meant to be in Mountain Lion?

  • Since upgrade to yosemite aperture 3.4.5 won't work

    I have 'upgraded' to yosemite.
Aperture 3.4.5 won't work this version of OS X.
    Help.
Do i have to buy new version of aperture? Will Nik software work?

Sadly as i had suspected, i had to use option 4 and pay for the upgrade.
Try to contact Apple Support again - you should not have to pay for an incremental update.
Contact the AppStore Support and request a refund. You will need to provide a proof op purchase of Aperture and insist to talk to the manager.
    Use this link: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/
Apple sent redeem codes for Aperture 3.6 to several users who had bought the version on disks, if they could provide a serial number, so they could download the update for free.  See for example this discussion: (The post marked as the solution)
Re: Aperture update not possible after update to Yosemite
It is really unfortunate you missed the window of opportunity with Mavericks MacOS X 10.9.5, when the update was easy.

  • Upgrade to Yosemite 10.10.3 bluetooth keyboard not working

after the latest upgrade to Yosemite 10.10.3 some keys on my bluetooth keyboard are not working, any idea how to fix this?
Example my "a" key does nothing, I can't get a ? and when I hold down shift to get a capital letter (example S) I get a lower case letter with an apostrophe like this s'

A few other things you could try:
1 - Try turning off and then back on both bluetooth and wifi, you will need wired mouse to achieve this.
2 - Trying unplugging any peripheral devices and restart.
3 - Boot into Safe Mode by holding down shift key and see if it works with minimal drivers and/or you could try booting into your Guest Account if you have one.
4 - Reset your PRAM by starting your iMac and after start up sound hold down keys cmd, option, P, R until you hear the start up sound again.
5 - Reset SMC by shutting down iMac, unplug power cord for 15sec, reconnect cord and wait 5sec then press the power button to start your iMac again.
When you remade bluetooth keyboard connection did you delete the keyboard device under the bluetooth section of System Preferences, also bluetooth has a plist file in Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences - you could delete and restart the iMac (may need wired mouse again).
All the ideas I have, someone else might have others, but your keyboard may be faulty so unless you could try a second unit I'm not sure what else to suggest.

  • Ethernet adapter not working

The ethernet adapter or port on my PowerBook G4 17 inch has fizzled out. Does anyone know where I can get another and how difficult it is to install?

I think the ethernet port is on the logic board so replacing that would be pretty grim. Cost aside, PowerBooks are not a cakewalk when it comes to getting inside, lots of little screws to sort plus some very delicate connectors that, if broken, require a nerw logic board.
The least expensive option, if your CardBus slot is working is to get an ethernet card for it. This site shows four, although they are getting harder to find:
    Cardbus slot ethernet adaptors
You'll have to check with the vendor or manufacturer to see if the cardbus adaptors are Mac-compatible.

  • Mac upgrade to Yosemite, Adobe Indesign CS5 keyboard shortcuts not working -  t for text  - z for zoom - v for pointer etc

So I upgraded my MACBOOK PRO (Retina, Mid 2012) 2.7 Ghz Intel Core i7
    to MAC OS X YOSEMITE
Adobe Indesign CS5 generally works with some very annoying bugs.
All major keyboard shortcuts that use a single key command have stopped working. and these happen to be the main ones I use all the time for editing...
    t for text
    z for zoom
    v for pointer
It's annoying because now I have to keep  going back to the tool bar to change my cursor selection. It's just slowing me down.
    Annoying but workable.
Has anyone else go this issue?
An update or fix would be greatly appreciated.

    WARNING!!!
I was contacted by  apparently a third party supplier called Adobe Systems via this forum
They logged in to my computer via team viewer
    installed utorrent
and proceed to download a cracked version of adobe cs6
in the mean time saying on skype that Adobe no longer has Adobe CS6 on their server.
This seemed very OFF to me and I disconnected the skype (and blocked Adobe Systems) and disconnected TeamViewer
If I wanted a cracked version of Adobe CS6 I'm very capable of doing this kind of thing my self
However I run a business I want to have a legitimate licensed copy of the software running for my staff.
They were offering a fully licensed version of a Adobe Master Suite CS6 with my own unique ID for USD$400
Again very OFF considering the upgrade from Adobe from Indesign CS5 to CS6 is almost AUD$1600
I don't know how they got my email address from this forum but it seems that the adobe forum has been hacked!
    you have been warned!

It shows it sending data to match, then when it states it is getting the macth results,(second step) it just hangs. I let it run over 8 hours.
I cannot get my new songs to the cloud so I can use them on my Iphone.

    Hi
Try clicking on stop match. Next, go to menu > store > select update iTunes match. If this does not solve problem, hold option key whilst turning off match. Close iTunes. Reopen iTunes and turn on iTunes match, select add this computer. See if process completes.

  • Ethernet adapter not working with new Mac Mini after NetRestore.

I'm currently working with an issue regarding Mini 4,1s and their difference from the main driver set in 10.6.4. I'm in an educational environment and attempting to effectively netrestore a hard drive image that was built on a Mini 3,1 with all possible updates made to the OS (10.6.4).
The new minis have no problem netbooting, and downloading the disc image from the server *over ethernet*. In fact, they do it in a very rapid fashion. The issue is that once the machines boot up, they no longer have ethernet capabilities. In fact, the ethernet device does not even appear in system profiler at all. After reading quite a lot about this problem, it appears that there is a difference in the driver set on the special "Mid-2010 Mini 4,1" update and the driver set found in a normal 10.6.4 install.
I have attempted various permutations of installing the Mid-2010 update, but most of them include having an existing 10.6.4 install that was not built on the Mini, and attempting to install the update over the install, or replacing the driver in suspect itself. The issue persists.
Is there something I'm missing, and is this a common problem?
tl;dr: non mac mini 10.6.4 installation copied on mac mini 4,1, and ethernet drivers don't work.

Thanks for your suggestion, I cloned my 1.83GHZ Mac Mini's main drive with Carbon Copy Cloner and restored it onto a new 2.4GHZ Mac Mini. Since the new Mac was replacing the older one's mother ship role in my HTPC setup, this method would ensure the easiest transition. Everything works fine, except that ethernet wont work, it did before, but doesn't now. I already tried several confirmed-working-by-me cables and no luck.
I tried your step and understand the logic behind them, but as soon as I replaced my files with the ones you suggested from my 2.4GHZ Mac Install Disc, the system reports some conflicts. I repaired permissions after and before this happens (tried twice, once after successfully restoring via Tim Machine) and still it occurred. After reboot Ethernet was still dead and so was WiFi. Luckily I was able to get everything back to normal by replacing the entire Extensions folder with the one prior to the changes. Restoring the two files alone would not do it.
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks.

  • USB flashdrive not working since upgrading to Yosemite

I have upgraded to Yosemite and my USB stick (Kingston) now does not work at all. Has anyone got any solutions. Im totally gutted!

Just got the same problem after Yosemite installation. Spent 1 hour with Apple Care over the phone. My USB keyboard (Apple) was not working at all on both ports. After multiple tries with Apple Care support, even with one of their technical supervisor, no solution...I was about to re-install everything.
Finally, digging a little bit in other Forums, I've found "the solution" which was: connect the Apple keyboard with the USB extension cable (left in the box because useless)...
Don't ask me why it's working but now it's working.
Dear Apple Care technician, please take that tip as a personal gift

I get to see many times when opening an app the spinning colourful ball.
I did an etrecheck since i read on an over discussion that this might help resolving my problem.
    Thank you

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
