Since version 6.0.4.2, iTunes has loads of bugs. Help!

Hello, thanks for reading.
Basically, I updated iTunes to version 6.0.4.2 and since then my iTunes has "ruined". Whenever I type stuff on the internet, on a messenger, anywhere it will use it as a shortcut and make iTunes pop up, sometimes taking me to the letter of the artist or other times stopping the track. My other problem is that whenever I scroll down it will decrease or increase the volume. This is really annoying since I can't listen to a song and type at the same time.
Any ideas what I could do? I have re-installed iTunes but there is no diffence. This problem is getting on my nerves and as I have typed this message iTunes has popped up 6 times
Ideas, please.
Thanks you,
Theo

Could be other programs "Fudging" with iTUnes files. Try uninstalling iTUnes AND quicktime then scan for viruses with your antivirus, scan for malware with the adware/spyware program you have or Ewido http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Scan for errors in windows by going to "My Computer" rightclick the harddrive, hit properties>Tools tab. Under error checking hit check now. The window that appears check "Auto fix system file errors" hit OK then next pop up just hit "Yes" and reboot.
When its done and windows loads goto the PC makers site and install ALL upddates/patches for your PC. Now disable antivirus/security programs and download/install the latest iTUnes from apple.com

  • Since Aug '14 MS Patch Tue, iTunes has stopped working

I have 2 instances of iTunes running on 2 different Windows 7 64bit machines. Both are crashing out since the Microsoft patches were installed on Wednesday, 8/13/14. I have uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled completely removing all Apple programs from Control Panel. I rebooted and reinstalled and it is still crashing out with 'iTunes has stopped working' and a prompt to close the program. I have also gone back to a previous restore point before the most recent MS patches. I then uninstalled iTunes, I reinstalled the MS patches, rebooted, and then reinstalled iTunes. This did not resolve the issue.

  • After installing version 11.3.1, saying itunes has stopped working

Accepted update to version 11.3.1 this week and now can't get iTunes to work. It starts up, shows the interface and then promptly a message saying iTunes has stopped working is displayed by Windows X64 and it tries to search for a solution to the problem which it can't find. The iTunes was working fine until after this version 11.3.1. I've removed all Apple applications installed (bonjour, mobile support, Qtime, iTunes) and re-installed, but same problem. The iTunes application is broke for me and no resolution I've found on any forums has helped. It's permanently broken.

    Hi Figaro56,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're seeing an issue where iTunes isn't responding or is quitting unexpectedly. The article linked below provides a lot of great troubleshooting tips that help you isolate and resolve the issue.

  • Itunes has encountered a problem. help please?

ok this is making me really angry. i am obsessed with itunes and now mine doesnt work. when i click on the icon a little box comes up saying:: itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvience. if you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost. blah blah. and then if you click see what the data report contains it says--- this error report includes information regarding the condition of itunes when the problem occured; the operating system version and computer hardware in use- your digital product ID. which could be used to identify your license and the internet protocal address of your computer... and there's more..
I NEED HELP NOW i'm desperate. it's really bothering me i've deleted my itunes three times completly off my computer and downloaded it again and the same thing comes up... help pleasee!!!??
    thanks so much
---I have the new version of itunes installed. and I uninstalled it by going into add or remove programs and deleted it completely off my computer. I reinstalled it by downloading the new version of itunes off the website.. also I'm not quite sure whether my itunes is external or secondary drive.. i'm thinking external..

    hi Alessia!
actually, that's a good sign. the registry issues are tricky ...
okay, let's try to cleanly remove all your itunes and quicktime program files and folders. use the full uninstallation instructions given here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
and use the windows cleanup utility if you run into trouble.
then download and save a standalone QT 7 installer to your hard drive. we'll run the installation from there. here's a link through to a standalone:
Scott Patrie, "Installation hangs on "installing QuickTime"", 10:33pm Oct 7, 2004 CDT
after you've got that installed, download and save a new itunes installer to your hard drive. then run the installation from there, skipping the QT part of the install when given the option.
keep us posted on your progress.
    love, b

When I try to open itunes my computer says itunes has stopped working.....HELP

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • The new version of iTunes has screwed things up - help!

Hi, I recently downloaded the newest version of iTunes (10.6.1) on my Mac and now it won't sync with my iPhon. A message appears saying I require MAC OS X version 10.6.8 or later. I currently have version OS X 10.5.8.
    What do I do???
Please someone help me. I'm strressing out as I can't sync my iPhone and I use it for absolutely everything! And I'm a complete novice when it comes to anything technology-related.
    Heeeeeeeelp!

If you need the newest version of iTunes because (for instance) you have a new iPhone or iOS 6 device, then you will need to purchase and upgrade your OS X software; to Snow Leopard 10.6 and then patch to 10.6.8, or to a more recent release of OS X...  See this thread or this thread for some related details; for information on how to learn what hardware is supported by Snow Leopard 10.6, on how to order the DVD, etc.

  • All of my Itunes has disappeared! Please help

I've had iTunes on my Windows for quite a while and I have frequently used it. Unfortunately today, another family member used it and now for some reason or another all of my music, playlists and videos have disappeared. I was able to retrieve all my music, but I lost all of the playlists and play counts and such. This makes it very frustrating as I had which songs I wanted included on my iPod in a seperate play group and now I have to redo that and resend them onto my iPod. Is there any way to fix this without having to go through all that trouble? Plus I would really like to have my play counts back if possible. The guilty person has no idea how they caused this to happen, so they're off no help there. I would really appreciate your help. What should I do to fix this?

Is your Itunes program gone? If not then open up your my computer, go to program files or something on the lines of that, then find Itunes and look for playlist and import them back into Itunes =)

  • I've put a folder in my dock (macbook pro) with all my music in it, and my itunes has erased itself. Help?!?

So I added a folder to my dock next to the trash can, containing all my music to make it easier to access my songs.. and I try to open up iTunes and everything has gone! It is completely blank. I try to copy all the music from that folder.. back into iTunes, but it gets to the part where it's copying the actual songs.. and it comes up with an error saying the disk cannot be read or written to!
    Please help D:
I can't sync my ipod either! Cheers!

I believe there are third-party applications that can do that, but I don't know what they're called or how well they work. Try posting a question in the iPod or iTunes area. You need to put everything back exactly where it was. I can't tell you how, because I don't know what you did. What I can tell you is this: if you don't make backups, you're going to lose all your data eventually. That's a sure thing.

Go to the Apple ID Security site from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699 or call the AppleCare support number from http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 and ask to speak with the Account Security Team...either can help you reset your questions/answers.

  • ITunes Has Stopped Working (10.3.1)?

So before I downloaded the new iTunes, it kept saying "iTunes has stopped working." when I tried to open it.
After multiple tries, I finally resorted to uninstalling it, and installing the new version.
Still, it says "iTunes has stopped working." I tryed the repair option in the Control Pannel for both iTunes and QuickTime. QuickTime opened up just fine, and works as it should. Again, I opend iTunes, but checked the details, and this is what it's saying -

From other posts, you usually could fix it from reading the Fault Module Name and repairing the name of whatever it was, but I have no idea what to do with this.
To play it on the safe side, I am doing a virus scan, but I have'nt downloaded any thing that would carry anything harmful lately.

    Fault Module Name:          MediaToolbox.dll
    Fault Module Version:          1.0.694.7
Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post:

Okay, that rules out one possible set of causes for the Stackhash result. Unfortunately it still leaves the field pretty open ... they tend to be user-specific errors (affecting a single user account), but there's quite a few possibilities with that too.
I think the best thing would be to proceed in a general-principles fashion, using the following troubleshooting document as a framework:
