Since Yosemite upgrade, my iMac automatically logs off.
After the upgrade to Yosemite from Mavericks, my iMac (2011) will log off my account after a certain amount of time. The preference to do so is NOT checked. I have tried checking that preference, logging out and in and then deselecting that choice, logging out and in (this seemed to be advice to help other issues). Nothing seems to keep it from doing so. It is my Administrator account (the computer's at my house, so I'm not concerned with unauthorized access). My laptop, also upgraded from Mavericks, does not have this issue. I have installed at least one update since the initial release.
Any help??
Is Do Not Disturb turned on? Do you see a quarter-moon icon up top in the status bar?

When i move my cursor to the top left corner of the screen, I am automatically logged off. Is it a software problem or is it a feature I can turn off?
I don't think there is an option for logging off in the Hot Corners, but check Mission Control System Prefs, Hot Corners button. What is set in the top, left.

Care to share which latest software you installed?

Hi,
Great work on Yosemite, great new design as well.
Several problems since the Yosemite upgrade though :
- When playing high pitch noise (watching the keynote for example), the speakers make the case around it vibrate. This was not happening under Mavericks and previous OSXs.
- This page (post editing) does not allow the right click (works everywhere else as far as I'm aware).
- when changing the volume, I have now the noise feedback when clicking on shift+volume up/down and no sound when clicking on volume up/down on my keyboard (was the inverse before).
- The keyboard light was stuck in off, had to restart the computer.
More general problems (covering the last OSX since introduction of 10.9) :
- lack of possibility of choosing for a 3x3 set of desktops as it was before (the new mission control only allow us to have a horizontal set of several desktops)
- Notifications cannot be turned off automatically when being in full screen. (only options for auto turn off given are "display is sleeping" oO and when "mirroring on another display" -> meh, would have prefer when having an app in full screen)

Auto Login since Yosemite Upgrade with Skype 7.0
Hi,
last week i updated Skype to v7.0 and it worked like always when i opened Skype i had to login myself with a Microsoft account.
Yesterday i upgraded from OS X Mavericks to OS X Yosemite. The first time after the succesful upgrade i had to put in my Microsoft credentials as always when i opened Skype, but since then i always get auto logged in when i open Skype or even when i just click within Skype at the "Sign out" button - after a second i have that light blue colored window and it already says "Signing in"...
I already deleted every file which is associated to Skype with Appzapper (basically the appropriate files are stored under the "Application Support" folder), but even then Skype logs me in automatically .. which is kinda annoying.
Tried to forbid access to keychain for Skype. After the next "sign out" it goes back into the "signin in" window but asks if it can access keychain. If i click on "deny" it still signs me in. So i guess it just wants to write the login credentials back to keychain and dont read it from there.
Any tipps? Havent tried to use an older version of Skype yet .. but prefer to use the current version.
Thank youTry this:
Go to Windows Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right click on Command Prompt, select 'Run as administrator'.
In the Command Prompt type: cd c:\windows\syswow64 and press Enter.
Next type this and then press Enter:
regsvr32 jscript.dll
Next type this and press Enter:
regsvr32 jscript9.dll
After each Enter you should receive a message saying that DllRegisterServer in XXX.dll succeeded.
Reboot your computer.
Make now the test showing if your Internet Explorer can execute JavaScript.

Imac automatically switched off???
I installed airport extreme in my old imac g5 and it worked perfectly.
Since I also use my macbook pro, i seldom use my imac G5 until recently. I discovered that after about 3 minutes working, the computer automatically switched off. When restarted, the same problem re-occurs. Has it got anything to do with the installed airport extreme...i dont think so.
Can someone help?Hi, and a Warm Welcome to Apple Discussions and the Power Mac G5 Forum!
You could try browsing, searching or posting in one of the iMac G5 Forums
http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=134
where there is some discussion of similar issues.
You could check Applications > Utilities > Console - system.log for entries at around the time of the shutdown.
You could try an SMU reset
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301733
There is a repair extension programme which may apply

How can i fix Connection issues with back to my mac since yosemite upgrade.
Ok I have been having nothing but problems with back to my mac since the upgrade. both machines are using yosemite and I have even reinstalled yosemite on both still having connection issues. anyone else know how I can fix this? I get one of 2 error messages one that says there is a problem connecting and i should make sure screen sharing is active and then another that says the server does not exist. So far to get it working it involves restarting back to my mac or both macs. This is not a good fix since once I disconnect and try to reconnect a few hours later it does it all over again. I am currently in France and needless to say my parents are starting to get really annoyed with constantly having to do things on there end so I can remote into my iMac.Before the yosemite upgrade I maybe had to do this once or twice.
What I have done is open Disk Utility, Repair Permissions, and do that more than once if it returns a lot of errors in the permissions. Then Restart the Mac.
Also, go to System Preferences > Spotlight and try turning off a couple settings such as search suggestions...these things are taking a lot of resources now. -
Hi there,
So ever since I've updated my computer from 10.2.4 to 10.2.8, no matter what I'm doing or program I'm in; it automatically logs out. Then brings me back to the same password menu I enter when I turn my computer on. What's going on??? I have no idea where I can go to fix this.
Thx for any help!Hi,
I posted this pic for other purposes but what settings do you have in the lower section ?
Technically AIM Accounts can have Four or so "States".
Off line is obviously one.
Available is another (with or without an Status Message).
Away is another.
Idle whilst Available is yet another (you can see these iChat and Messages Buddies and they can see you as Amber blobs)
Idle whilst Away is not displayed separately within iChat or Messages Buddy lists.
There is also Invisible.
On some laptops you have an option to power down Apps to save power/battery.
I don't have a laptop that can run Mavericks so I am not sure where the Setting might be.
Start with Energy Saver in System Preferences.

Hello,
I am having trouble with my MacBook Air 13 inch June 2012 MacBook Air5, 2 4GB RAM details below in Etresoft report. I recently upgraded to Yosemite and am having system trouble. My computer crashes and I have to force quit to restart. When using webmail there is a black screen for a split second between pages. This did not happen before. I am worried that it is not running properly and perhaps I need to revert to the previous operating system. I only have a MacBook Air and no need to share images between a tablet or phone so I did not need the new photo sharing software of Yosemite. I wonder if I don't have enough RAM to run it? I did not run time machine before I made the upgrade as I did not realise the significance of an upgrade as not very Mac literate. Any advice on whether my system is in danger... most appreciated! I am writing a book and making a back up but this machine is my lifeline and my work is conducted through it. It ran perfectly before... the Yosemite upgrade has perhaps highlighted some problems and it has unnerved me!
Thanks ever so much for your advice!
Lillibet

☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

Can't screen or file share since Yosemite upgrade
I upgraded my 27" iMac and my Macbook Pro Retina Display to Yosemite yesterday. Today I neither screen sharing nor file sharing will work. I have tried everything I know to connect the two computers, and nothing works for me.
No devices show up in my sidebar. Before the Yosemite upgrade both Macs were there, as well as a PC that my wife uses. Now there are no shared devices showing at all.I just tried to delete this. Seems my problem was that for some reason my Macbook was connected to a free wifi hotspot instead of my home network. Everything works now. I feel so stoo-pid.

Since i upgraded to yosemite, my HP laserjet 3050 printer no longer working. i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still not working. Any suggestions?
Have you checked the HP web site for driver updates?
If you haven't done so already, try resetting the printing system.

Keyboard shortcuts are gone since Yosemite upgrade
I use a large number of keyboard shortcuts (the ones accessed in System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Text).
Since the upgrade to Yosemite, the personal ones I've created (and which are still visible in the menu) do not work any longer.
The default ones from Apple, however, still function properly.
What do I have to do to get these working again?
I've tried obvious things like re-creating the personal ones. No go.
Thanks for any help on this.½ ¼
You can add the ½ ¼ to your own shortcuts and then use them like before:
To enter the shortcut use the character viewer:

My 27inch iMac automatically shuts off
My 27 inch iMac will shut off automatically after about 30 to 45 minutes - it will not turn on when using the on/off power button. I have to unplug from the wall, hold down the on/off power button for 10 seconds, plug it back into the wall then usually, it will turn on. I have tried using different wall outlets and not using a power strip but unless i follow the previous steps, it will not turn on. I ran an apple diagnostic test - it showed no issues with the hardware. It was purchased from the apple refurbished store in April of 2013. For hardware -processor 3.2 GHZ quad core intel core i5 - memory 8GB 1600MHz DDR3, graphics - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX -software - OS X, iLife '11
I think you should have received a 1 year warranty on this Mac, so I would take it in and have them fix it for free. If this is happening routinely at about the same time after boot up it sounds like an overheating issue, which is most likely hardware related.

Why Does iChat AV Automatically log off?
I've recently got myself a MacBook Pro 15" 2.16GHz. Everything I do on my G4 PowerBook is the same on my MacBook Pro, but faster.
However, when I use iChat on my MacBook Pro and the screen goes into sleep mode I am automatically logged out of iChat, even if I have set my status to Away. Just for your info, I'm using my .Mac account.
On both of my PowerPC Macs, when using iChat I can quite happily let the screen go into sleep mode without being logged out. So what's changed?
All ideas and suggestions gratefully received.Looking at the Optimization Normal settings in Energy Saver, both the computer and the display are set to sleep after 10 minutes. I've changed my Screen Saver settings so that it starts after 5 minutes.
The problem always seems to be when I return back to my MacBook Pro and it has gone to sleep. If I set my status in iChat to Away, when I return to my computer and wake it up, iChat AV automatically logs me off and then reconnects me.
If I do the same thing on my G4 PowerBook or PowerPC Mac Mini, because I have changed my iChat General Prefs to "Ask What to do" when I return to my computer and wake it up I get a dialogue box where I can change my status to Available or keep it as Away. This is what I expected to see when using iChat AV on my MacBook Pro, but it doesn't seem to happen.
