Single crack in middle of screen on iPad.

How the world does this happen and what is your opinion on warranty coverage?
The nitty gritty:
iPad is a refurb because of a defect in original one purchased which was exchanged with this one. (Original one was exchanged at one month old.)
iPad is only 2 months old.
No Apple Care.
Ultimate care has been taken with this device and the crack happened while I was using it, while sitting down, playing a card game. Device has always been in a case and has never been dropped, flopped or mistreated.

Out-of-Warranty Service

Not unless the crack is determined to be caused by a manufacturing error.
Accidental damage is not covered under the standard one year warranty, which is a limited manufacturing warranty, not insurance.

Does it stay in the same place whichever way up you hold the iPad. Have you tried a reset to see if that clears it ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If that doesn't fix it then you could try restoring to your last backup and/or resetting back to factory defaults. But it may be a hardware issue, in which case you'll need to contact Apple.

Your warranty is actually one year - the 90-days is only for free telephone support - but the warranty would not cover damage due to the iPad being dropped. I doubt there's anything you can do to fix the rocker, so you'll probably need to pay to get the iPad exchanged (by Apple) or repaired (by a third party repair service).

I have also noticed the drop down menu arrow on Numbers Tabs has dissappeared since move.

If the reset doesn't work:
FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTune (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTune and plug (very important)
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTune has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTune.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note: Data will be lost

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off".

THese are iPhone/iPod touch apps that Re not optimized for the langer iPad screen. You can make them larger by clicking on "2X" symbol in the lower-right orner, but they might look pixelated.
WHen purchasing apps in the App Store, pay attention to the 'universl' plus symbol and the app's description, or filter by device type.

Is there a way to fix the white or black screen on Ipad 4th Gen?

Ive tried to reset it and restore to factory settings but this does not work. The screen was white until I restored to factory settings and now it's black when it starts up. Ive also let it die and tried to charge and power it on again but no go. It's an Ipad Black 32GB 4th Gen. I will post a link to one of the pictures I had of it below. I am wondering if I have to pay how much it'll be to fix. It was working great until about a week ago when it randomly happened. It was purchased in February of 2013.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. You can take a screen shot of any page in your iPad. Simply hold the power and home button for less than an second and you'll hear the camera shutter. The picture will be stored in your camera roll and you can then email it.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

The iPad is fine. But the computer you're syncing with needs to be authorised with the Apple ID that was used to buy the material on the iPad. You do this by picking the 'Authorize' item from the menu in iTunes and entering the account name and password.
