Single Edition Question: Which is correct ??

Edition comparrison info says with a Single Edition I can:
"Sell single-.folio applications through the Apple App Store
In the digitalpubsuite_help.pdf, Chapter 5: Assemble and Publish  it states the following:
"Only Professional and Enterprise subscribers can publish folios and create custom viewer apps"
Which is correct?
Also.... if I want to publish a folio only for the Android market, is a Mac platform necessary!
Thanks to anyone!

Hi,
Bob (Bringhurst) will update the help document to state that you can now also use DPS Single Edition to create single-folio apps for distribution through the Apple app-store.
Currently, Viewer Builder only runs on Mac, so you'll need th mac platfrom as well to create (build) apps for Android. This might change in future.
Keep in my, that for creating iOS apps, you will need a Mac. You'll depend on the iOS SDK to be able to upload your apps to Apple (with the Application Loader). iOS SDK is Mac only.

  • Single Edition questions!

    Hi there,
I need an updated, quick and precise answers for these Single Edition questions...!
    (1) For what I got until now Single Edition do not allow clients to publish a store like a bookstall of magazines. Is that right?
    (2) That said, every app built and sent to App Store is "unique" and has no physical connection with other apps built and sent later. Right?
    (3) Even though having Creative Cloud and being able to publish unlimited Folios... There is no way we can do a bookstall??
    (4) Even using Html5 resources?
    Thankyou all...

    1) Correct
    2) Correct
    3) Correct

A bookstall / kiosk / multi-issue-app is only available for Adobe DPS Pro.

How does Single Edition compare to Professional and Enterprise Editions?
Professional Edition is an off-the-shelf solution designed for customers who publish frequently updated content multiple times a year and require the ability to sell single issues or content subscriptions (as supported by individual marketplaces) through app stores including the Apple App store, Amazon Kindle Fire Newsstand, and Android Marketplace.
Enterprise Edition is a custom tailored solution that meets the individual needs of professional magazine and newspaper publishers, large corporations, membership organizations and advertising holding companies. Enterprise Edition is fully extensible and can be integrated with back-end editorial workflow solutions such as K4 and WoodWing, print fulfillment services, and dynamic rich media ad platforms.
Unlike Enterprise and Professional Edition customers, Single Edition customers do NOT have access or the ability to:
    Create multi-.folio applications
Update content embedded in an application once it is published
Sell through multiple market places (Apple App store is only supported at this time)
Access foundational analytics powered by SiteCatalyst
Extend and integrate with other back end services/platforms

  • Photo editing question - which app does this?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask; if not, please forgive my faux pas.
I'm looking for an inexpensive photo-editing app ( < $25) that will let me take an image and distort it in such a manner that it appears to have 3d perspective.  That is, I'd like to shorten the height of the left vertical edge but not the right edge, making it appear that one is looking into the distance.  I have a few common apps like Graphic Converter and Pixelmator but if they have this function, it's pretty well hidden.
    Suggestions anyone?

You can download the free trial of Pixelmator for MacOS:
    http://www.pixelmator.com/try/
and for 30 days distort and apply perspective:
Or buy it at the app store for 14.99.

  • Updating Single Edition Apps

    Dear members,
I've got one question referring the Adobe DPS SE and updating a published app.
In the FAQs I came across with the following statement:
I have Single Edition. Can I update the content in my app?
Yes, you can update the content in your app after it has been submitted and approved by Apple. If you are a Creative Cloud member, you can update the app for as long as you have an active membership. If you purchased a Single Edition serial number for US$395, you have one year to update the content, after which your Single Edition license will expire and you will no longer be able to rebuild your Single Edition application
Is it correct that a developer who purchased the SE licence won't be able to update a published app after one year? Is there a possibility to update the app by purchasing a new licence then?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Best regards

Is it correct that a developer who purchased the SE licence won't be able to update a published app after one year? Is there a possibility to update the app by purchasing a new licence then?
Yes,you would need to purhcase another Single edition License and you would recive a new Serial key using which you can build and update to the app and submit it to Apple.

  • Single Edition rebuild

The problem i'm having, if anyone would be so kind to lend their thoughts is:
I have a single edition license which i used to build my developer and distribution app with no problems.
I then discovered a typo in the app so I re-uploaded/exported from inDesign and the dashboard.
I put the new folio into the viewer builder and went through all the steps with the same apple provisions as before.
However, I get a signing error at the end of the process when trying to retrieve the zip and ipa files.
I've been through this so many times checking everything with no results. I've even re-done everthing on the apple developer side from revoking and regenerating certificates to making fresh provisions/keys and all that other stuff multiple times.
I'm starting to think maybe a single license only allows one build but have been unable to confirm this.
So, if anybody has any ideas how to proceed or can you only build once with a single license?
    Thanks in advance,
    Niall.

Yeah its all up to date. Its for a client and its being done using their brand new apple developer account just for this app so the certificates, provisions and p12 files are all new. It has worked the first time too and i've just been going through all the steps to from scratch again but always get the same signing error at the end. I know the p12 files are correct too as i can test them in my keychain with no problems.
As for the viewer builder i've been through the edit process each time because i re-exported my folio on the dashboard then went throught the edit steps again.
    Thanks for the help though.

  • Single Edition App question regarding using the activation number

    Hello,
I am producing a single edition app for a client. We have purchased a single edition package and I have the serial number. I have created the app and done all the certificates and provisioning stuff...
My question is now that it is built and I would like to download a version for testing purposes it is asking me for the serial number to activate it.
After I enter the serial number will I be able to go back and make changes to it as needed before I publish? Or how does this work? I just want to make sure I dont activate this and am then stuck with the results if changes need to be made. I'm sure the answer is fairly obvious but just wanted to check with people who have had past experiences. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Yes, you should be able to make changes, but I can’t let this pass without reminding you that you could have gotten unlimited apps for year and every Creative Cloud application and service for less than you paid for that one app.

  • Buy License for single edition....newbie question

Hi, very new to this forum and DPS. I tried to click the "Buy licence for single edition" link on the left of the page, but was not provided with any cost information - only an adobe product notification page. I am a Adober CS5.5 Design Premium subscriber. Keen to know costings before I learn how to do all this. Cheers

it depends on the adobe store website and may be a legal issue too, because
you don't buy software but a licence here (in fact, sth. like a serial
    number)

  • Some Single Edition and Single Folio Questions

    Hi all,
First of all, sorry about my english, is not as good as I'd like.
I've some questions about single edition and single folio projects, the process is not too clear for me:
With single folio, is possible to protect access through user/password? If it's possible... what's the way to get it working?
How many time does adobe need to give you the IPA file for the appstore when you work with a sigle folio project?
I've read with single edition you can't update your app, so if you publish in the App Store a book, and you find some mistakes... how can you solve them? Is possible to solve them buying another license or you need to load an complete new app?
    Thanks in advance,
    Marcos González.

    Joe,
ALL of your questions were already asked and answered (some of them more than once) on this forum. You should try some searching first.  No offence, but Bob (and the other Bob as well) are really working hard answering tons of questions coming in every day.
I think I can answer this one:
"How many Single Edition can I purchase? I have 16 small brochures for one client to publish to Apple's App Store."
Having 16 brochures to publish, it would be unwise to buy 16 SE codes for$395 each. Buying  Professional Edition for one year (12x $495) would spare you $1200, and give possibility to publish even 1000 small brochures during the period.
    Cheers,
    Tomek

  • Single Edition :single question

    Hello Adobe
I've got a simple and single question
    - when you get a Single Edition and pay the US 395 fee and then get your folio available fopr iPad, do you get charged for the downloads (the 0.30)
    same question even clearer
    - for a Single Edition: do you pay US 395 and "that's it and there's no later charge or tax or anything and will this only cost US 395 forever ?"
Sorry but the more I read about all this, the more I'm lost
    Thank you for your help

    Have some patience.
Single edition apps are one offs. You pay the $395 and then submit the app to Apple.
You pay nothing more to Adobe.

  • Single Edition Distribution Question

I am a member of the CS6 Cloud and a user of Adobe Digital Publishing Suite Single Edition.
I have created a sales tool apps for a client. How do I distribute this to my client? I don't want to sell the app through the Apple Store, only
distribute it for a small group of three to use on their iPads.

If you want to distribute you're app to a small group then you need an Enterprise account you can't do that with Single Edition, with Single Edition you're app is put on the App Store for everyone to see and download. Another way you can do this, is if you have an iOS Developer account and add the Device UDID numbers from each of the ipads and create the mobile provisioning files to include these devices then you can have you're users install the developer-viewer.ipa that you download from App Builder, hope this helps.

  • Single Edition: Preview question

    Hello
On this link that compares editions
    http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-publishing-suite-family/buying-guide.html
the "Preview interactive content on desktop and iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Kindle Fire and other Android devices" box is not ticked for the Single Edition.
    Is that really it ???i
EDIT: of course, as SIngle Editions only work on iPad, sorry ...

Single edition is iPad only. The Adobe Content Viewer works fine for this.

  • DPS Single Edition - Wrong builder ID, how to fix it?

    Hello all,
We design a quarterly magazine, and we´re using a dps single edition license to have it available to the readers as an iPad independent app, for each edition.
We were doing our second edition, and by error, on the Viewer Builder on the provisioning step we used the old mobileprovision files from the first edition (with the old bundle id).
The result is easy to find out - the app created on the DPS Viewer Builder (and signed with the old provisioning files) is not correct when compared with the one prepared on iTunes Connect for this second edition, and we only noticed that when we were trying to submit the app with the Apple´s Application Loader.
So my question is easy: how can we edit our mag on viewer builder and change for the new provisioning files (we need to use a new bundle id because the second edition is not an upgrade but a new app) on the without buying and new DPS Single Edition License (please mind that when we edit it we can use new provisioning files but they should keep the same mobile provision id or else we get the following error "Bundle ID inside the mobileprovision does not match the bundle ID used for the build").
    Thanks!
    Mario

Hi Bob, thank you for your reply.
Re-creating the file unfortunately doesn´t solve my problem:
    1) if I edit the app on the viewer and replace the provisioning files (now with the correct bundle id) I get "Bundle ID inside mobileprovision does not match the bundle ID used for build (which was xxx.xxxxx.xxx)" , which makes sense because I´ve used first the wrong ones (and that´s why I´m in deep trouble and unable to upload it to Apple)
    2) if I create a new app, even with the same name, at the end it asks for the Single Edition serial number to activate, and if I use the one that I´ve bought, I get "Serial number already redeemed".
If there isn´t any other solution (all ideas are welcome)  I´ll contact tech support from Adobe in order to reset my Serial number (or something similar) because we can´t afford to buy another serial without using first the one we have paid for.
    Thanks
    Mario

  • Why "Single Edition-App" and not "Professional"?

    Hi, I've got 2 questions :
    1. We've  changed our Single Edition Account (two weeks ago) to a Professional Account.
Written in the DPS App Builder-panel is unfortunately still "Single-Edition-App."
How can I change this or is that normal?
    2. How can I make an App for the iPad AND for iPhone to distribute on the App Store?
Is that possible with my professional Account? And what's the correct App-Type for that? I only can choose "Multi Folios", "Multi Folios with iTunes Abonnement", "Adobe Content Viewer".
    Thanks for help

    Hi Phillipe,
you need to rebuild your app using DPS App Builder if you want to change the app type, it does not automatically change when you switch to Professional Edition. You will then also have to resubmit it to the App Store.
Professional Edition allows you to create an app for iPad and iPhone. The app type depends on the kind of content you are offering with your app. Multiple versions of the same folio aimed at different devices are called renditions. You would need to choose "Multi Folio" for that. If you want to enable your readers to subscribe to your publication you would need to select "Multi Folio with iTunes Subscription".
Your second question cannot be answered comprehensively in a forum post as it involves just too many things. There is a lot of documentation available on the DPS help pages on the topics of the different app types, app creation and app distribution. Maybe start with this article Understanding different types of DPS apps and take it from there. There is also a Publishing Companion Guide available to download from the the DPS Dashboard which I can recommend.
