Single Edition still iPad only?

Just wondering if this is still the case?

Will a Single Edition appear in Apple's Newstand, where you can search for periodicals, or just in the general App Store?
I have a client who publishes two print issues (per year) and they flat-out rejected my proposal for the Professional Edition based on costs.  I'm trying to come up with a cheeper alternative for them.

  • Single edition apps can only be Private?

    Hello
I have the teacher/Education account of CC, and when I try to publish my folios with Folio Producer, I cant set them to "Public". Only Private is possible. Are there any not documented limitations for the Educational account or am I missing something? Pleas help me?

When building a Single Edition application you don't use Folio Producer. Instead from within InDesign select the Create App item from the Folio Builder panel flyout menu.
I suggest taking a look at our Step by Step guide for Single Edition: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ppcompdoc/Step_by_step_guide_to_dps_se.pdf.

  • Single licence version = iPad only

Is there the scope to open up this model to allow Single Licence version for Andriod and Tablet also?

I wouldn’t count on that happening any time soon. Keep in mind there are size limits for apps on Google Play and I think it’s about 50 megs which would eliminate most single edition apps anyway.

  • Single DPS on iPad only. But why?

Does Adobe have any plan in near future to allow Single DPS to be able to publish to other tablet platforms that iPad (at least Android)?
The market place is being invaded by other tablets as well and iPad will face a stiff competition real soon. As I will be publishing with DPS single only twice a year (top), where is the added value from my clients' perspective if their documents can be only viewed through iPad but not through other tablets?
With the amount of digital publishing per year that I'm about to do, there is no logic for me (and for my clients, as their document is free) to move unto Professional DPS.
The way I see this, allowing the Single DPS to be published only through iPad feels like you're ignoring the reality of the tablets market out there. Even if iPad holds the majority of the market share (for now), and only in North America at that.
    Thanks in advance for answering.

  • Single Edition vs. Google Play 50 MB Limit

    Hello,
is it possible to upload a Adobe DPS Single Edition App to the Google Play Store, that is bigger than 50 MB ? (due to this fact: The APK file, the principal of all applications, 50 MB is still limited, but developers can submit up to two extensions of 2 GB for each app, downloaded when downloading the file)

    Single Edition is iPad only.

  • Single Edition: Preview question

    Hello
On this link that compares editions
    http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-publishing-suite-family/buying-guide.html
the "Preview interactive content on desktop and iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Kindle Fire and other Android devices" box is not ticked for the Single Edition.
    Is that really it ???i
EDIT: of course, as SIngle Editions only work on iPad, sorry ...

Single edition is iPad only. The Adobe Content Viewer works fine for this.

  • Switching from Professional Edition to Single Edition

    Hello,
I am considering downgrading my app from Professional Edition to Single Edition with the CC. I have some questions I cannot find on the FAQ.
How do fulfillments work for a Single Edition?
Our app is free. Do we still have to purchase fulfillments? Are unlimited downloads/views included?
    Is the webviewer option available?
Can I submit and launch additional single folio apps upon approval from iTunes?
Are single edition apps available for iPad only?
I am finding conflicting information. On the comparison chart it shows that you can PREVIEW your app on multiple devices. Can I launch an app on iPhone, Android and iPad?
I currently meet all the neccessary requirements for my app. Certificates, Apple Dev license, and everything is set up with iTunes Connect. Can this information "roll over"/be applied if I cancel my professional Edition and move to the CC Single Edition?
    Is social sharing available?
Your help is appreciated. Thank you

How do fulfillments work for a Single Edition?
There are no fulfillments in Single Edition. The content is packaged into the app you submit to Apple. Bob Levine has a good place that explains the basics of Single Edition vs. multi-issue apps: http://boblevine.us/digital-publishing-suite-101-single-edition-vs-multi-folio-apps/.
    Is the webviewer option available?
    No.
Can I submit and launch additional single folio apps upon approval from iTunes?
With a Creative Cloud account you can currently create as many Single Edition applications as you want, but those are individual applications. See the link I posted above for more details on this.
Are single edition apps available for iPad only?
Correct. Single Edition apps are only supported for iPad.
Can this information "roll over"/be applied...
Your iTunes developer account and certificates are completely independent from DPS. You can use the same developer account and certificates to create Single Edition apps as a Creative Cloud customer.
    Is social sharing available?
    No.

  • Are there plans to let single edition users publish to the iPhone?

As the owner of a small publishing business, I was very frustrated to find out that only Professional Edition and Enterprise users can publish to the iPhone. I have a client who is ready to move forward with an iPhone version of its weekly trade publication. However, to do so with Adobe's current offerings would be WAY too cost prohibitive. My client would need about 750 downloads to serve its readership. The publication itself has hardly any graphics and consists of about 10-12 differerernt articles. So, my questions are as follows:
    1. Does Adobe plan to let single edition users publish folios for the iPhone?
    2. Are there any good alternatives for publishing a simple trade publication for the iPhone?
    Thanks

    Hi there,
I am a Professional Edition member of DPS and currently publish our magazines on the iPad only. Most of our magazines are free, and thus makes it impossible to afford the $0.30 per download fee that Adobe requires. The only way to do so is to publish everything in single edition and update/overwrite each new issue. This has worked for us, but still limits us to iPad only. The Android, Kindle Fire and iPhone are only available for using the fulfillment service, which again charges $0.30 per download. It is frustrating to me too, as I have been a loyal customer of DPS for two solid years now and they have been "promising" that these will be available in single editions soon. They have said that for two years now.
My point is that Adobe is slow to adding devices to the single edition because they don't make any money off of it. They only make money off of the fulfillment services, so there is absolutely no incentive for them to even "bother" with coming out with single edition versions of any other device. I'm surprised they even offer single edition for iPad.
Which leads me to my point -- I recommend that you find an alternative to using DPS for your iPhone single edition version. If it is simple in design, you can use something like Hype (for mac only) to build as an HTML5 web app and then package it into a native app with PhoneGap.
Here is where you can find Hype: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hype/id436931759?mt=12
Here is where you can find PhoneGap: http://phonegap.com/
I really hope this helps! Don't give up on Adobe, because they are a great company and have awesome products, but realistically they are also in the business to make money. I am sure eventually they will come out with different single editon versions of devices that are supported, but it definitely won't be anytime soon.
Let me know if you have any questions or need any help!

  • Single edition App

    Hi,
    I've a Professional Edition account.
I want to create a Single Edition App for iPhone but with my app builder a can select only "Più Folio". See attachment ("iPad_and_iPhone")
If I select only iPad I can create an App Single Edition. See attachment ("Only_iPad")
    How it's possible.
I can't create a Single Edition App for iPhone??
    Thanks
    Berto

Single Edition is iPad only. All other platforms require a multi folio app.

  • Single edition and p12 certificate

    Two questions:
1 - Using Single edition will I only need the serial number (Adobe single edition number) to publish on the app store? I've been finding conflicting information saying, yes, it's possible on the Adobe site, and then another source saying I would need either Professional or Enterprise to make the viewer "public" rather than "private." It seems with single edition I only have the "private" option available.
2 - I am building the app for a university. In order to sign the distribution app, I've downloaded the distribution mobileprovision file from the university's ios developer site. I can't create a p12 certificate using the university's distribution certificate on my computer.
I found this webpage describing how to transfer what I think I need: exporting your signing and provisioning assets from the one Mac and importing them to the other.
    http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/Xcode/Conceptual/ios_development_wor kflow/10-Configuring_Development_and_Distribution_Assets/identities_and_devices.html#//app le_ref/doc/uid/TP40007959-CH4-SW8
After my university contact sent me their p12 certificate, I'm having the following error message, "Not finding expected label 'iPhone Distribution:' in this certificate."
Can you tell me how to solve both issues?

    1. In Single edition Workflow, you do not have an option to publish as Public, thus publish as Private then you would need to export the Folio and import it in Viewer Builder while building the App. Use the serial number to activate your build for download.
Read the following link for more on the workflow:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/digitalpubsuite/using/WS67cb9e293e2f1f6032817afa1337a03d59b-7f ff.html
    2. Read the iPad publishing guide for creating required certificates (Attached). It's best if you complete the whole certificate process on a Single Mac using keychain Access to avoid complications. While creating certificates, remember to de-select enable for iCloud. I would recommend going though the guide in detail and follow step by step process as mentioned in the guide.

  • If we upgrade to a Professional Edition DPS license can we create an unlimited number of Single edition apps for iPad, iPhone and Android devices?

I work for a organisation based in Sydney and we have a team license for creative cloud (single edition).
We have been producing single folio apps for the iPad and want to continue this through 2015.
At the moment we can only create apps for the iPad platform.  If we upgrade to a Professional Edition DPS license can we create an unlimited number of Single edition apps for iPad, iPhone and Android devices?
We do not need multi-folio apps as we are not a publishing company.

    Thanks Neil
I sent an email yesterday and am awaiting a reply.  Here is my email for reference.

We are not a publishing company so we will produce a small number of the apps.  If you could get back to me with a solution and approx price that would be great.
    Thanks for your time

  • How do I get my iPad single edition articles into my android App?

    Hi,
I'm in troubles getting an android version of my reader app up and running.
I have an iPad app (1024x768) that works well.
It is published as a single edition app with my Creative Cloud account.
Now I wanted to release an Android version.
    That's what I did:
-I tried my iPad app with the android content viewer on my device (nexus 7): it scaled down but it was okay
    -I bought a Professional edition.
-I created a multi edition app container with the DPS App Builder
    - The DPS App Builder did not accept my Adobe ID, but required an application ID which I created.
-I created the apk file and copied it to my device (Nexus 7)
-I opened the app on the device - it was empty.
-I shared the folio of my iPad app from my main adobe id to the new application ID, then I copied it with my application ID in the folio producer organizer to a new folio and uploaded some articles again. But the app on the device remained empty.
-I made a brand new folio and imported a new article . Butmy android app remained empty
What do I have to do to see folios in my android app?
    Thanks you
                Hans

It sounds like you need to publish the folio as Public. Only public published folios appear in a custom viewer app.

I just got the iBooks update and that fixed the problem, except the book covers look like they were done in a government printing office.

  • My iPad is locked on Apple logo. Already made a restore still have only Apple logo. Any ideas?

My iPad is locked on Apple logo. Already made a restore still have only Apple logo. Any ideas?

Try a Restore but force the iPad into Recovery Mode first.
Doing that involves restarting the iPad, holding the Home Button, and connecting it to iTunes.  Holding the Home Button is the trick.  Here's an article explaining how to do it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If Force Restarting and Force Restoring doesn't work, it may be time to look up warranty information.
    Good Luck.

  • HT1918 After seven ios updates, why is iBooks still the only app that won't synch between iphone & ipad?!?

After seven ios updates, why is iBooks still the only app that won't synch between iphone & ipad?!?

    Hi there,
Thanks for the reply.  I did think that could be the case but then other books would also show up as apps on phone but not counted as an app.  Maybe book apps downloaded from the app store work in this way whereas books bought from the ibooks app show in ibooks and not as apps.
I guess that would make sense, it must be because they are books but downloaded from the app store rather than the book store so they are visible as an app but don't actually get counted as an app.
Would you think that's the case too?
    Thanks
    Adam
