Single/Multiple Folio apps
Hi,
IS IT POSSIBLE THROUGH CREATIVE CLOUD TO CREATE A SINGLE FOLIO APP WHICH WILL HAVE THE CONTENT UPDATED OCCASIONALLY? I DONT NEED MULTIPLE FOLIO APPS (IE ANY PREVIOUS CONTENT IS NOT RELEVANT SO DONT NEED ANYONE TO BE ABLE TO DOWNLOAD IT). SO CAN I JUST HAVE A SINGLE FOLIO APP THAT HAS ITS CONTENT UPDATED.
IT ALSO RAISES THE GENERAL QUESTION AS TO HOW MUCH EDITING I CAN DO ON A SINGLE FOLIO APP ONCE IT IS PUBLISHED AS NO DOUBT TYPOS ETC WILL BE PRESENT AND WILL NEED TO BE CHANGED
THANKS VERY MUCH
If you purchased a Single Edition serial number for US$395, you have one year to update the content, after which your Single Edition license will expire and you will no longer be able to rebuild your Single Edition application.

Can you self-distribute a single edition folio app?
Currently I am using the Adobe Content viewer to distribute folio's for a couple of clients. One client would like single edition folio apps created, but doesn't like the idea of them being in iTunes. Is it possible to self-distribute (publish) a single edition folio app outside of iTunes? Much the same way you can already create any type of iPad app and create an installable package without having to go through iTunes...
Thanks for any assistance,
Greg BThe only way to do so is to create a developer version of the app but it
will expire and will be limited to 100 UDIDs.
In short, this isn't going to happen without enterprise level accounts
with Apple and Adobe and is still subject to licensing restrictions set
forth by Apple for app distribution.

Hello
I have created 3 Folio-Issues which belong together (language versions)
In the app store I have created a multiple folio app. Thats fine.
But how to place them all under the same admin account (ID) to show them up in a iframe?
I only managed to show one: kabanews.codeserver.ch
Thanks for any help.
OliverIts not possible to show all three folios inside the same iframe. If you are hosting your web viewer yourself, you can customize to have three different buttons on your website that directs the customer to each of the three different folios.

DPS Pro account and a multi-folio app distribution + analytics
Okay, here is the thing again.
I have talked to my client and explained him about how complex it is to track each individual (out of 30) who views a folio.
So now, he basically would be happy just to know the overall time, of how long a folio has been viewed, and also to see, which articles have been viewed the most and for how long.
I believe, analytics can provide this data without any problems, am I right? The question is, can this be seen with baseline analytics or I would need SiteCatalyst for this?
If I understand correctly, getting a Pro account would give me the possibility to create a single multi-folio app, which could contain many folios inside. I could delete and add them without the need to wait for some approvals from Apple?
But the main question is, how can I distribute this multi-folio app to specific people? Can it be sent via some link or something? Because this app is not for public use.You need an enterprise account for private distribution.
You could fake all this by using the Adobe Content Viewer and putting a web overlay on each page with a link back to a hidden web page with google analytics. That would give you very basic idea of what's being looked at assuming each user is on line. Beyond that you have to use enterprise. -
Upgrade from single folio to multiple folio
If i have a single folio app of a title running with creative cloud and the client decides to turn it into a periodical can i upgrade it to multi folio. Obviously for this i would have to take out dps professional edition in order to have multiple folios but just wanted to know if it is possible to change once i have created an ipad app.
yes no reasons not to be able to do that, but just make sure that the content in the single issue, is available to view when you re-submit as a multi issue.

Single Folio Apps: No Bookmarks and Social Sharing
I was just reading on DPS Help that Single Folio Apps don't support Bookmarks or Social Sharing. Does that mean that if I have Bookmarks linking to pages within my folio, they won't work? I know it looks like my question is answered in first statement, but I'm really hoping I'm not understanding something.
I have Hyperlinks in my TOC linking to bookmarks in the folio.
I don't know what Social Sharing exaclty is, so I don't think it'll affect me.
ThanksThe term "bookmarks" means two different things in InDesign/DPS. There is the bookmarks feature in InDesign that links to other parts of the document when you view a PDF document, and there is the bookmarks feature in DPS in which you can add your favorite articles to the list of favorites. The PDF bookmarks aren't supported in DPS. The DPS bookmarks ("favorites") feature is supported. Here's a description.
BookmarksIf you enable bookmarks in Viewer Builder, customers can mark an article as a bookmark and then choose that bookmark from a drop-down menu in the nav bar to jump to the bookmarked article. Bookmarks work across multiple folios within the same viewer app.
The Social Sharing feature is the ability to use social media to share articles through facebook, twitter, or email so that they can be read on a computer or a device. You can read about it here: http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-publishing-suite/help/using-social-sharing.html
When you say that you have hyperlinks in your TOC linking to bookmarks in the folio, what kind of bookmark are you referring to? -
Distributing multiple versions of an app within a single Windows Store app
The company I work for creates Point Of Sale (POS) software using Software As A Service (SAAS), so we host our clients' databases. We do not force all of our clients to all be on the same version of our software; i.e. some clients are on version 3,
others v4, others v5, etc. As you would expect, the database schema for each of these versions is different, so each of these clients also use a different version of our client-side app.
We are looking at making a Windows Store app that acts as a light-weight POS app that clients can use to sell their products. The problem is, we will require having multiple versions of our Windows Store app in production; the version of the app that
the client uses must correspond to their database version. We were initially hoping to have our Windows Store app detect which version of the app the client should be using, and then automatically update itself to the correct version, but
were told on this post that it violates the Windows Store certification criteria, so that's not an option.
It has been suggested that we put multiple apps into the Store; one for each version of our software. We really don't want to do this though, as when we upgrade a client's database from one version to the next it would require that they uninstall their current
app and install the newer versions app, causing them to lose all of their custom settings. We would like the updates to remain as transparent to the end users as possible; the store clerk shouldn't need to worry about which version their database is on so
they know which app to download from the Store.
As a possible workaround, is it ok for us to package all 3 versions of our app into a single Windows Store app, and then just have the app check at runtime which version it should run? I assume that this is alright, since we will not be downloading
any other code or installing any software/apps, as was the case with our original solution that violates the certification criteria. Essentially we would just have 3 different classes and determine at run-time which classes code we should run.
I know that this solution isn't ideal, as it means our app will be 3 times larger than it needs to be, and that an update to any one of the 3 versions of our software will require an update to the Store app (so potentially users may download a new version
of the Store app, even though it doesn't have any changes for the particular code version (i.e. class) that they will use), but it's one of the best alternatives we have come up with. I just want to check that this solution doesn't also violate any certification
criteria before we go down this road.
If this is not allowed then our only other alternative might be to go with sideloading (as
I discuss on this thread) and avoid using the Windows Store all together, but we would prefer to use the Store if possible as it eliminates a lot of overhead that we would have to deal with if we use sideloading.
Any insights or suggestions that you can give are appreciated. Thanks!
- Dan - "Can't never could do anything"Hey Mr_bigworlds, thanks for the reply. The moderator on this post actually told me that this
would be a better forum for my inquiries. I agree that there may be another forum better suited for this question (there are so many that I don't know about), but since this relates to Windows Store certification criteria, I don't think the Windows Desktop
Development forums are the place for it.

Maximum folio-size (single-folio apps)
Hello,
I am searching for the maximum folio-size of single-folio apps.
Can someone help me in this case?
Thank you in advance!
Regards,
SebastianI think it's around 2 GB, however it's best if you keep it less than 700-800 MB.

Helo! I've created a Single Folio app with 1526 articles.
It works in the generic Adobe Content Viewer, but does not work on my custom App.
It shutdowns after splash window.
Could someone help me?
ElismarChanging settings? What part of setting?
My guess is that if you have so many articles, and each article need some particular files in the .folio file, then the Viewer make a mistake trying load all files in the same moment, causing auto shutdown. And, I'm using the iPad 3 to test it.
So, would be fine if someone could give me numbers about the maximum number of articles suggested to put in a Folio Issue.
And yes, I'm publishing the Bible!

Omniture Analytics in Single Folio Apps
Hello,
I have a question about the newest release notes for yesterday's producer tools update. There it is noted that Analytics are now available in single folio apps.
But building folios has nothing to do with the producer tools, it is part of the viewer builder, right?
Does that mean v14 (Viewer 1.9.x) viewers already include analytics in single-folio viewers?
or does that come with v15 (viewer 1.10)?
—Johannes@ Bob, all:
We are submitting a single issue app to Apple this weekend, and I'd love to include this functionality, so I have 2 questions:
Q1 - Is this new viewer builder release you mentioned for this week still on track, so waiting to submit to Apple until the weekend is worthwhile?
Q2 - Other than simply using the new viewer builder, is here anything I need to activate RE Omniture, any data or info I need to submit to our Adobe Solution Provider to set this up?
Many Thanks, Juergen -
Kindle single-folio apps?
Is it still not possible to build single-folio apps for Kindle? (And Android in general?)
I'm assuming that hasn't changed but haven't paid attention. If not possible, is it on the horizon? (Is it a Kindle Store issue, or a viewer builder issue? Assuming the former.)

Single Folio App pricing question
I am a CC member/subscriber. I know I can create as many Single Folio apps as I want, but ...
1) Do I still need to pay $395 per app in order to have the apps published to the Apple App Store?
2) Am I able to use my own CC subscription to create Single Folio apps for my clients or must they purchase their own Single Edition plan?1. As long as you have a full CC account and not a single app the Single Edition apps are included. There's no additional charge from Adobe.
2. Yes, but I would strongly recommend that they have their own Apple developer account.

Password protect single folio app
Is there a way to password protect a single folio app on the Apple app store?
We would like for the user to be required to put in a username and password the first time they open the app.
We do not have an enterprise account. Is this possible? It is not possible with a single edition app, and is only possible in the enterprise edition if you develop a custom storefront.
