Convert 11.1.0.7 EBS 12.1.3 single node to RAC with ASM on 11.2.0.3 cluster

I am trying to convert a single node 11.1.0.7 database with EBS 12.1.3 version from single to 2-node RAC ASM on Oracle clusterware 11.2.0.3 on AIX 6.1 - 64 bit
I am following Oracle metalink document note id 466649.1 . My 11.2.0.3 clusterware is already setup correctly and working fine as per document E24614-03.
However I am currently stuck in section 3.3:Configure TNS listener (Doc id : 466649.1) . The netca is unable to start the listener and failing with error as below.
However when I start the same locally from lsnrctl command listener starts.

I am trying to convert a single node 11.1.0.7 database with EBS 12.1.3 version from single to 2-node RAC ASM on Oracle clusterware 11.2.0.3 on AIX 6.1 - 64 bit You don't need to create listeners, after installing 11203 cluster there will be LISTENER running from $GRID_HOME
along with SCAN_LISTENERS

1) I have created single node standard database called mydb in /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1 home (hostname linux1)
2) installed crs and asm on linux1 and linux2 and shared storag on ASM(which external HD running ieee1294 cards and ports) . no database is created on linux1 or linux2
3) I want to convert mydb to RAC DATABASE called mydb1 instance on linux1 and mydb2 on linux2 machine respectively.
4) copied and modifed xml as you see above called ConvertTomydb.xml to $ORACLE_HOME/bin directory
5) when I run
$rconfig ConvertTomydb.xml from $ORACLE_HOME/bin directory , i get the following error

Oracle 10g Dataguard Setup

Hi Guys,
I am planning to have Dataguard setup for my single instance database in HP-UNIX.
Please let me know the pre-requistes for this setup. I currently have Oracle enterprise edition installed. Do i need any specific application, tool or software installed for this, etc ?

2. Add Listener, and add standby service name

Invocation service only processing on a single node (Coherence 3.4).

I'm trying to run a task on each node using the invocation service. The task should return a list of report files from each node.
The service is setup as follows:

And accessed as follows, using the deprecated getInvocationService method:

 Map<Member, List<String>> reportQuery = service.query(new ReportFilesnameAgent(), null);
When I access it in this way, the ReportFilesnameAgent only runs on a single node, despite the following listing both cluster nodes:
 Set memberSet = service.getCluster().getMemberSet();
I even tried to force it to run on all nodes by passing the member set to the query method, but this made no difference:
 Map<Member, List<String>> reportQuery = service.query(new ReportFilesnameAgent(), memberSet);
If I access the service using the recommended (non-deprecated) method:
 InvocationService service = (InvocationService) CacheFactory.getService("agents");
Coherences throws the following:
 Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Missing scheme for service: "agents"
Any ideas?

I'm trying this invocation-schema with Version 3.5.2/463a and a pof serializer and it fails with the below stack trace suggesting that my nodes run of different configurations.
I can see them loading the same cache-config and the same config though.
Any ideas?

Using DBConsole In Dataguard Setup

Hi,
We have 3 node RAC Primary and a 3 node RAC Standby part of our Production Dataguard setup. We are using DBConsole to monitor the databases in our environment.
The agent and console was up on the Primary site and the Production database was being continuously monitored using the GUI.
Recently as part of maintenance activity the database roles have been switched.
My question is :
Can we just proceed to start the emagent and console on the new primary site (which was not running initially as it was a standby previously) and continue to monitor the environment?What is the risk involved in doing so?

If I were going to use EM I would make sure that:
1. I deploy Enterprise Manager agents to the both primary and standby servers.
2. The Standby database(s) are added to to Enterprise Manager.

We have a single node setup (Applications and Database are on the same server). Now, our management decided to setup a Multi-node configuration and i'm the one who will do this.
The plan is to use Oracle ASM and RAC for the database and for the Application is to have a multiple application servers. For the database, we will be using a minimum of 3 servers and another 3 servers for the application. Is this possible? How can this be done. Can someone point or give some link or infos on how to do this. We're going to use the existing data on the single node server.

ASM and clusterware are two separate things. Clusterware is required only if you are setting up a RAC environment, is this your case? If you are just planning to use ASM then proceed with the RDBMS (database disk) install and use the DBCA to perform ASM configuration. It is assumed you have the raw devices ready to setup the ASM instance. Once the ASM instance is ready you can create the database to use the ASM disks.

Single instance Dataguard on RAC

I am trying to create a single instance dataguard for 2 node RAC. The following is the uname -a on all the 3 machines. Just want to know as the uname is different on dataguard machine than the RAC nodes, will there be poblems? I am using CentOS 4.
Also, the Oracle veresion of RAC and standby machine is 10.2.0.1. Is it recomended to patch to 10.2.0.3 first or patch after setting up dataguard.

Upgradation of Primary (RAC) two node database and single node standby DB

We have our primary setup in Oracle RAC in 10g R2 (10.2.0.1.0) in HP UX 11i 64bit (PA RISC). It is a two node RAC.
And we have a single node standby database (DR).
Both the primary and standby database are existing in 10.2.0.1.0
We need to upgrade the primary and standby database from 10.2.0.1.0 to 10.2.0.4.0
Am planning to go through the DBUA method for upgrading the database.
I like to know is there any special cases for upgrading both the primary and standby database.
since as i mentioned i will upgrade the database through dbua method, and if i upgrade my standby database as same as primary,
will it forcefully open the database, because while we upgrade the database through dbua it will open the database at the end of installation.
Is it possible to upgrade the standby database with DBUA method even when my standby database is in Mount state.
I will be helpfull if anyone has done this earlier, are there any know issues and is there any good document which i can refer.

or i can proceed the installation of software in the same oracle home.
I will list out my action plan, please correct me if am wrong,
In Primary RAC,
a) Shutdown the database
b) Shutdown the asm instance
c) Stop the nodeapps services
d) Stop the cluster ready services.
e) Stop the enterprise manager
f) Stop the isqlplus
In Standby single node database,
1)Cancel the managed Recovery process
2) shutdown the database
3) Shutdown the asm instance.
PATCHING Process
g) Apply the oracle clusterware patch 10.2.0.4.0 in the same old existing ORA_CRS_HOME
h) Apply the oracle database software patch 10.2.0.4.0 in the same old existing ORACLE_HOME
Note: In my case both the ORACLE_HOME and ASM_HOME are in the same location.
i) Execute dbua to update the database in the primary database.
j) Apply the 10.2.0.4.0 patch in standby database ORACLE_HOME where as ORACLE_HOME and ASM_HOME are in the same location
k) Copy the recently generated archive logs from primary to standby manually and apply in standby database.
l) Mount the database in standby
m) Start the Managed recovery process.

...that document doesnt say you cannot have multiple ASM instances on a node. It says "...ASM, +you only need one ASM+ instance for that computer, to manage the two database instances that use ASM."
The fact that you only need one - and I cannot think of a good reason to have more than one - does not preclude the fact that you do seem to be able to have multiple ASM instances on a single node, each looking after its own set of disks and diskgroups.
Again - I cannot think of a good reason to do so though!

I had been discussing the same issue with someone from Oracle. I asked for multiple ASMs on a server so that we could have seperate ASMs running for, say, 10g and 11g.
He explained that we should think of ASM as being the same as Veritas FileSystem. We don't run multiple instances of Veritas on our servers. On single Veritas "instance" (set of drivers) provides all the Veritas Fx mountpoints on the server. Similarly, there should be only 1 ASM instance on a server.
(substitute UFS or ZFS or CFS for Veritas in the above example and you still have only 1 filesystem manager on a server providing one type of filesystem, although you could have, say , UFS and Veritas co-exist ; just as you could have Veritas, ASM and Raw co-exist on a server).

After going through some threads it seems to me that multiple ASM instances on a node is not supported and recommended by ORACLE but i coudn't find any ORACLE document or support matrix mentioning this. Can any one give me a pointer to this. Please correct me if i am wrong and Multiple ASM instances are fully supported by ORACLE.

Multiple ASM instances on a single node are supported but not recommended due to several issues you could encounter during that kind of configuration.
Possible interraction between those instances for identification of each disk area usage,each disk area permissions , database instance to asm instance mapping and so on, could result in unwanted behaviour, as ASM is in some way just oracle's representation of LVM.
Intention is that any kind of distinction/separation of oracle related data under the ASM should be done through the disk groups.
So it seems it would be better to apply this kind of logic rather than doing suspiciously magical and rare configurations that could bring you similiary strange and unexpected problems.
