Single User License Protocol

Let me get one thing perfectly clear.
I am a Photographer who is the sole user of
1 desktop PC and 2 notebooks.
So I can use 1 license for the desktop and 1 of the notebooks
at any given time.  but if I've signed out of one notebook I can
sign in to the other notebook while still using the desktop it will
still work.
Or I can use any one of the three by itself and the system will work.
What happens if I have no Internet Access.

IF you have no Internet, you can't do your activation juggling an that is that. Otherwise it should work just fine, but of course the forums are full with these errors, so there's always a chance it could end up as a mess...

  • Where can I download Acrobat Extended version 9 for use with a single user license?

    Hello,
I am helping a client who has previously purchases a single user license of Acrobat Extended version 9. It shows up under 'My Products' for his Adobe ID account and provides the serial. However, no version of Acrobat I have been able to find on the Adobe.com website or from people asking the same question on these forums will accept his Serial #.
Has adobe made these single user serial #'s invalid due to their change in licensing format, or I am just now finding the correct version to go with this serial? Please assist, I would hate to have to tell this client they have to re-pay for a product they already have purchased simply because you have changed your licensing format.
    Thanks,
    JC

JC you will want to utilize the installation media you received at the time of purchase.  If you choose the download option at the time purchase then the download would be available under your account at http://www.adobe.com/.  You can find more details at Find a download link on Adobe.com.

  • Single User License

Does anyone know if Apple allows a copy of iWork to be installed on a single user's desktop and laptop (when not used at the same time...like Adobe) or is the Family Pack what is needed to be able to install it on more than one machine?

    From the license agreement:
"*iWork Single User License*. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software (whether trial or full version) on a single Apple-labeled computer at a time. This License does not allow the Apple Software to exist on more than one computer at a time, and you may not make the Apple Software available over a network where it could be used by multiple computers at the same time. You may make one copy of the Apple Software in machine-readable form for backup purposes only; provided that the backup copy must include all copyright or other proprietary notices contained on the original. "
In other words, you're only allowed to have the software on one computer at a time.

  • FrameMaker server vs single user licensing requirements for WebWorks Automap?

    Hi guys,
Does anyone happen to know if a FrameMaker server license is required to support a WebWorks Automap HTML generation process?  Or is a single-user license acceptable (so long as only one user is accessing the machine).  My understanding is that WebWorks simply opens and closes FrameMaker files and does not use any FrameMaker functions to produce its content.  I've checked with WebWorks on this, but ultimately it's any potential Adobe licensing restriction that I'm concerned with.
We're currently using unstructured Frame, so much of our content could only be generated by having FrameMaker and WebWorks installed on the same workstation or VM.
    Thanks in advance.

If you're actually running FM on a Windows server platform, then there's a high probability that the EULA demands you use the FrameMaker Publishing Server (FPS) instead. However, if you're just accessing existing FM files and not triggering FM via Webworks to do anything, then I don't see how a FPS license would be required.
There's a bit of info on the differences in the licenses at: FAQ | FrameMaker Publishing Server 12
However, I can't seem to find any more recent versions of the EULAs than the FM11 and FPS10 ones listed here: Licenses and terms of use | Adobe

  • Does the single user license Leopard allow installation on two Macs?

Does the single user license Leopard OS 10.5 allow installation on two Macs - say my G5 desktop I use at home and the Macbook Pro I take on the road?

Thanks everyone. I don't intend to risk at that… seriously, the problem is many software licenses allow for installation on two computers (one "at home" and the other "at work", for instance) - at least all my recent purchases, mostly music production software such as Finale, Logic, Line 6 stuff and Live. That's why I thought Apple might have been a little more generous at that…
I appreciated everyone's help at clarifying that.

  • Can I upgrade my single user license to a family pack?

I recenlty purchased a Single User License for tiger, and am now wanting to buy a used computer that has been completely wiped, so it has no operating system or anything. Can I upgrade from the single user so I am not breaking the law, but not pay $200?

  • Single User License Questions

    Hello,
Firstly, since there is no general forum for iWork as a whole (rather than its individual packages), I have posted it here.
    Anyway, back on track.
I am a British MSc student wanting to purchase iWork Single-User at the discounted education price - as MS office for Mac has no UK education discount and seems to crash an awful lot, and Open/Neo Office is, in my opinion, the worlds most counter productive and clumsy software package out there (I hate it!), I have opted for iWork. After trying the demo I really like it! Very slick.
However, I have noticed that there are two packs available for iWork. Single-User and Family Pack, and have become a little confused about how the licensing for iWork pans out.
I want to install iWork on both my 27" iMac "Ratchet" and on my 13" Alu' Notebook "Clank" (yes those are the actual computer names in System Preferences), so I can work on a document with Clank when out and about, upload it to my iDisk, then work on it again with Ratchet when I get home. I am the only user of these two machines, not even a guest account. Will the Single-User license of iWork install and run without running into problems? Or does single user mean one Mac and one Mac only? If its the latter then it looks like I'll have to make do with OpenOffice until I can afford MS Office 2008/11 and just hope it doesn't crash when I click "save" (which did happen very frequently with MSO2008)
    Thanks in advance!
    Ben

Well that just burst my bubble quite dramatically.
In the education store its £35 for the single user which is a hefty 1/2 price discount, but its still £87 for the family pack, no discount to speak of. £87 is only £12 short of Office 2008, so it looks like I'm waiting until next payday before I can afford it, or I dust off the credit card."
    Thanks for the quick answer

It seems silly having two single user disks and for a little extra I get 5 installs and one less disk.
How is me saying I'll wait until next pay day or making a personal observation considered a rant? I'm puzzled how you came to that conclusion
yes I was snippy in reply to Allan Eckert's suggestion of OpenOffice and I apologise, but a rant? Come on mate, how is any of what I said a rant?

  • Single user license of Snow Leopard on 2 machines then a family user straight to Lion?

I bought a single user license of Snow Leopard and installed it onto an external harddrive so I could boot my machine and check my applications such as Vectorworks 12.5 still work with the new OS.
Now I've done that on both Macs I have at home (MacBookPro 2.4 Intel Core 2 Duo and MacMini 1.83 Intel Core Duo), and now installed Snow Leopard properly on the MacMini (i.e. not booting off the external hard disk).
What I am wondering is that rather than purchase a 2nd user license of Snow leopard, if I was going to upgrade straight to Lion anyway, could I install my single license Snow Leopard on each machine, then upgrade both to Lion on a proper family user license given I'm not actually going to be using Snow Leopard if I upgrade to Lion?
    thanks.

Yes the licence for SL states it can be installed and used on one machine. So if you remove it from the MBP (which you will if you run Lion on it) then there is no reason you can't use it on the Mac Mini.
And just for clarification there is no more Singel User or Family Pack or Family License for Lion. The license allows you to install and run it on as many systems as you own or control. So should you get a Lion compatible system in the future you can use the copy of Lion you now have on it also.

  • Commercial use of a single-user license

    Hi,
I have two question for Adobe CC single-person license
    1) Does the license allow commercial usage, i.e. selling my artwork, photos, etc?
    2) Can i install the software on my 2 computers under this license? (i would be still the only one using it)

    Hi Janadik,
The license allows you to sell your artwork, photos which are your own creation.
You can also install and activate the software on 2 computers. However you should not use the products on both the machines simultaneously.
    Regards,
    Anand

  • How can I tell if an install DVD is a family pack or a single-user?

I'm now running Tiger, and want to install Leopard. I can't go to Snow Leopard because my processor is powerPC -- not Intel.
I have purchased a new Leopard install DVD from a seller on Ebay. I paid for a family pack. It does not say "family pack" anywhere on the package, which is sealed in clear plastic. I asked the seller why it didn't show "family pack" anywhere visible on the package. He "guaranteed" that it is a family pack, not a single user license.
I've looked at a family pack DVD for Tiger and for Snow Leopard. Both show "family pack" on the exterior of the package, but I don't see anything on the face of the DVD.
Is there anyway that I can confirm whether the seller is being truthful? If I open the package, and it doesn't show anything on the face of the DVD . . . . how can I tell if it really is a family pack?
    Thanks for your help.

My Leopard came pre-installed, so I don't have a retail package to examine. However, doing a google image search for family packs, I couldn't find any obvious difference on the outside or inside between the two. Here, for example, is someone who says he bought a family pack and photos of the inside of the box including the DVD:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/robertnelson/2211524221/
Notice, no "family pack" to be seen anywhere.
The only difference, as I understand it, between the family pack and the single-user pack is the number of license you pay for. If you paid (a third-party) for a family pack license, then I feel you can in good conscience install the OS on up to five computers in your house or that otherwise meet the terms of use for a family pack. The OS will not seek out duplicate serial numbers on your network or anything like that (even single-user installs rely on the honor system) so you will be fine.

  • Want to install Creative Suite 6 Premium on third home Mac CPU, single user, for college classroom use. No other users at home. Have CS6 on Mac desktop and laptop

I want to install Creative Suite 6 Premium on a third home Mac CPU, single user in the home.  Will use the third CPU in college class

A single user license only provides for having two activated installations.  If you want a third activated installation you will have to purchase another license.
You can install on as many machines as you like, but the activations of those are limited to two per license.  You could activate/deactivate as needed, but I do not know if you end up reaching a limit for that as well.  I know there used to be a limit on the number of times you could activate.

  • Deauthorizing Single-User Tiger

I bought a Single User License for Tiger and put it on my G4 in January.
But now I'm getting rid of the G4 and moving up to a used G5 that's running OS 10.2. How do I deauthorize/deinstall the single user Tiger from my old G4 so I can install it on my new G5?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Use the original OS X install package that shipped with your G4 when purchased new (or used) and perform an Erase & Install.
If you plan on selling or giving your G4 to someone else, you should zero all data on the hard drive which makes data on an erased (initialized) disk less recoverable.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107437
When reformatting the hard drive, select HFS+ (or extended) with Journaling enabled.
This way, Tiger is removed from the G4 and allows for installing your copy of Tiger on the G5 without violating the single user license agreement.

  • Leopard Single User Pre-Install Question

I have an iBook that is capable of installing Leopard, however I'm about to ditch that laptop in the recycling bin. I'm also about to get an even newer iBook running Tiger. If I put Leopard on my current iBook for now, will I not be able to put it on my new one? Is there any activation service or anything that will stop me from installing it when I get my new one? Thanks!

A single user license means you can only use it on one Mac.
Before disposing of your present one (there are also some folks who might like it) you should clean it. Then, you are free to install OS 10.5 on your new one.
The proper way to "clean" a computer before selling it is to zero the hard drive. This will make all your data irretrievable.
Steps for zeroing the drive Disk Utility:
    1. Insert your Mac OS X CD-ROM disc or Restore DVD disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key until you see the spinning gear.
    2. Once started up from CD or DVD, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu.
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from disc to access Disk Utility.
    3. Choose the entire disk (top icon).
    4. Choose erase tab.
    5. Click on Options
    6. Choose "write zeros".
    7. Erase
This will take a bit of time because the computer is physically writing zeros to each block.
You should then re-install the original OS from the system disks and deliver the Mac to the new owner with the system disks that shipped with it. (If you actually dispose of it, this is of course unnecessary)

  • Defining "Single User"

I have a laptop and a desktop (like many people these days). Does a Single User license allow me to install one copy of OS X on both computers? Or do I need to purchase two copies (or a Family Pack)? I've spoken with more than one person at Apple about this (both Sales and Tech staff), and each time I get a different answer. Would anyone be willing to provide the final interpretation of this law? Thanks!

If you buy a retail copy of OS X, you can install and use it on one Apple computer at a time. In order to install it on another Mac, you would have to first remove it from the other computer.

"This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on a single Apple-labeled computer at a time."

  • ARD single user -- $300?

So I'm considering allowing my Macbook Pro to assess files on my Mac Pro while I'm not immediately within the network (i.e. accessing via internet).
Is my only option a 10 user license for $300. Is there a single user license? Is there maybe a trial version?

Well, I think some of the user interface sharing might be helpful. Dunno, I've never used ARD.
Can I set a render in Cinema 4D on the MP from a project on the MBP from the internet?
ARD sure looks cool, but I thought is was part of OS X until about an hour ago. My budget is way too thin after purchasing a MBP this week -- someday maybe.
Simple file sharing may be all I need now. I've got that set-up for my network, but not for non-local. Guess I'll do that today instead. Bummer.
