Single VLAN can have different subnets????????

single VLAN can have different subnet

Hi Devang,
Yes your single vlan can have different subnet but they will not talk to each other on ip (layer 3) till the time you configure routing on your layer 3 device using secondary ip address on same logical interface.
But your answer is yes single vlan can have different subnet.

  • How to setup 9ias so that we can have different profile to cater for 2 DADs

    Dear Sir,
How to setup 9ias so that we can have different profile to cater for 2 DADs with the same name pointing to different database.
    For example:
    /pls/users --> pointing to database 1
    /pls/users --> pointing to database 2
I would like to know, how possible is it.
Reason being we would like to deploy both our live and demo plsql application on same application server without the need to change all the dad path to:
    /pls/users -- pointing to database 1
    /pls/usersdb2 -- pointing to database 2
In other words, we would like to preserve the same DAD name in both live and demo application to minimise unnecessary changes to application.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

  • On-premises & Azure VMs with my virtual Network both can have same Subnet?

    Dear All,
May i know Azure support on below scenario.
On-Premises & Azure VMs with my virtual Network both can have same Subnet?
    Examples:
On-premises VMs and Azure VMs using same network subnet(192.168.191.0/24).
*On-Premises VMs = The VMs host at my own Data Center.
    Thanks.

    Greetings!
You cannot configure 2 networks with the same subnet and join them. While connecting via VPN, the packet may not even hit the Gateway of a network to get routed to the other. Also, the destination IP may or may not be present on a computer within the
same network. If it is present, the destination might turn to be undesirable, and if not, the packet might be broadcasted and dropped when nobody acknowledges it in the same subnet.
    Hope it clarifies.
    Thank you,
    Arvind

  • Shared Members in Custom can have different aggregation weight?

    Hi guys,
I have created a Flow dimension to track the cash flow movements. Under TotalFlows, I have the different movements (OpBalance, CloBalance, Variation, Gain, Loss), all with aggregation weight of 1. But I have to create an additional structure (sibling of TotalFlows), called TotalFlows2, with shared members (OpBalance, CloBalance...) but with aggregation weight of zero.
Can I used the Shared Member with different aggregation weight? Or should I rename them (for ex., TF2_OpBalance)?
    Please, advise.
    Thanks!
    Jai

Absolutely use the shared member and set the aggregation weight to zero in your duplicate structure, this is the key benefit to custom dimensions.

  • WLC4402: same VLAN, different subnet - can it work?

    Hi,
I bumped into a interesting issue with WLC4402. Management interface and prod-interface were in a same vlan, but they have different subnets. It seems that "there are two subnets in a same vlan" - 192.168.66.0/24 is defined as primary network in the router and 192.168.72.0/24 as secondary. See the pic attached.
At the moment there is v.4.2.176.0 running and it works. When I tried to upgrade it to v.6.0.199.4 something goes wrong. Controller changed prod-interface port to 0 and I can't change it back to 1 or 2. My best quess is that the WLC is not able to handle this kind of setup...but why is it working at the moment??
Any comments would be most appreciated. Thank you.
    -Petri

It's actually a wonder/miracle that someone was able to configure this in the first place, to my opinion.
Maybe it was configured with an old WLC release and survived with the upgrade to 4.2
For sure, this is definitely something that the WLC now prevents you to configure. It's not supposed to work, just an example, if you get layer 2 traffic on that vlan (arp for example), where to reply ? you can't know from which subnet it comes from. So it basically means that you are bridging the 2 subnets together and then why not just giving them the same vlan id then ? effect would be the same.
It's anyway going against the linux routing engine, so I'm still wondering how it was working on 4.2
It was probably bridging vlans and doing some unefficient forwarding without you realizing it. So definitely something you should avoid configuring.

  • Sonicwall connect with different subnet Mitel VOIP system

You can add a VLAN sub interface to interface X3, just click the Add Interface button at the button under all the current interfaces you have under Network Interface.Select the Zone you want to assign to this
Select the VLAN you want to assign to the new interface
Select the parent Interface (in this case X)Personally I would create a new zone for this(called Mitel VOIP or similar)to allow you to customise your Access rules as they work with zones rather than interfaces. If you setup the interface zone as trusted then the access rules will be automatically setup to allow all traffic in both directions to and from your other trusted zones. If it is setup as an untrusted zone then the traffic should be blocked to all other trusted zones (but I'm not toosure about the other direction - it's been a while since I've setup a sub interface).
    ...

    In my SonicWALL NSA 2400
at X0 Parent interface LAN IP is 192.168.3.1/24
X1 interface WAN IP assigned by ISP.
X2 interface WLAN IP is 192.168.10.1/24
our all switches are L2 switch.
    192.168.3.1 Network
connected to running all our workstation, printer, pretty much everything. I
have different subnet physically different system Using Mitel VOIP phone system
    using 192.168.2.1/24.
Is there anyway can I set up the VLAN in SonicWALL’s X3 interface and connect
the cable in X3 interface to the 192.168.2.1/24
network switch. And can I manage the Mitel system from
    192.168.3.1/24 network connected workstation.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Poss. to have different invoicing partys on 1 vendor for diff purch. orgs?

    Hello!
    We are running SRM 5.00.
I am a rather techy person and was given the task to link the invoicing vendor to a purchasing vendor on purchasing org level.
Everything I have found so far (table BUT050 and FM BAPI_BUPR_RELATIONSHIP_CREATE/CHANGE/GET/..) there is no way to link invoicing party on purchasing vendor on purch org. level, without mod's, because it is not part of standard functionality.
Could this be correct? Does all vendors in SRM have the same invoicing party regardless of purchasing org?

    Hi Nam,
As per SRM 5.0 standard funtionality, you can have different invoicing party. You need to follow below steps-
    1. logon to admin and click on 'manage business partners' and maintain here possible invoicing parties for that vendor.
    2. You extend this vendor data to 'purchasing group'
In this way you can define same invoicing party for all vendors.
    Thanks

  • Can TWO different Zen Micros be installed on the same computer w/o confli

I have a Zen Micro 5G, and would like to buy a Zen Micro Photo 8G as well. Does anyone know if there will be conflicts to install the software (firmware?) on the SAME computer? I had conflicts when I tried to install two different Palm Pilots on the same computer - the software of the first Palm no longer worked properly. Perhaps the new one "overrides" the first? I don't know if this might happen with the Zen Micro and Micro Photo.
Also, does anyone know if the Micro Photo fits into the Zen Micro Traveldock?
Thanks so much for any insight you can offer!

I don't think they will conflict because if you use mediasource, you can have different music libraries etc...
I believe the microphoto fits the traveldock, but don't hold me to it

  • Is there a max number of actions a button can have?

I'm building an interactive matrix in InDesign (CS5.5 Mac) with stacked buttons to implement the change of state for a given spot on the grid. This is working fine in Acrobat, but when I made a "master reset" button in InDesign (setting 96 buttons to "hidden" and 96 buttons to "visible"), not all of the actions transferred to the button when opened in Acrobat.
My question: is there a limit to the number of show/hide fields a single button can have? If so, I have a pretty good idea how to work around the limit, but want to be sure before proceeding.
Acrobat 9 Pro, Mac OS 10.6.8.
    Thanks,
    Ben

I highly recommend you do it with a script. Not only you won't have this
issue with the maximum number of actions (which I have no answer for,
sorry), but maintaining it would be MUCH easier and more straight-forward.
Imagine you decide to change the name of one of the fields, or remove it.
You'll have to go over all the actions and find the relevant one. In a
script you could do it in seconds, and it would be much easier to find out
    if something went wrong.

  • 2 different subnets on single vlan

    I have this setup.
    2 3750G switches stacked.
I have 2 servers with IP 10.10.10.1/30 and 10.10.10.2/30 connected into port g1/0/1 and g1/0/2 respectivily on switch1 both in vlan 100
I have another 2 servers with IP 10.10.20.1/30 and 10.10.20.2/30 connected into port g2/0/1 and g2/0/2 respectivily on switch2 both also in vlan 100.
I need to keep this same vlan across the stack. In theory servers on same subnet in vlan 100 should be able to communicate properly, or am I wrong?
What can I do to prevent broadcasts from propagating between subnets of this single vlan?

    Edison
Perhaps I read the post from Sparky slightly differently than you do. The first pair of servers are in the same logical subnet and in the same VLAN so they should communicate with each other fine. And the second pair of servers are in the same logical subnet and in the same VLAN so they should communicate with each other fine.
But I agree with you that there are flaws in this implementation. First, since the subnets are /30 they only allow two hosts and with two servers in the subnet there is nothing to act as a gateway and to provide access to "remote" addresses. Also this implementation breaks the assumption that there is a correlation between subnet and VLAN. We tend to assume that a correlation exists and that a subnet is related to a VLAN and a VLAN is related to a subnet. But VLAN is a layer 2 concept and subnet is a layer 3 concept and they are not necessarily related. There is no rule that says that a VLAN have only 1 subnet (though that is common practice). A VLAN interface with a primary IP address and a secondary IP address would certainly support 2 (or more) subnets.
Note that this implementation does not provide the isolation that we tend to assume when we talk about subnets. We generally assume that devices in 1 subnet do not communicate directly with devices in a different subnet (because we tend to assume that each subnet is a separate broadcast domain). But this implementation puts both subnets into the same broadcast domain. So the first pair of servers will hear all the broadcasts (including ARP) from the second pair of servers and any of these servers could communicate directly with any other of the servers - certainly not bounded by the subnet.
    Sparky
There is no way to isolate the broadcasts within the same VLAN. The basic definition of VLAN is that it is a broadcast domain. And any broadcast generated will be flooded thoughout the entire broadcast domain. The only way to restrict the broadcasts is to create 2 VLANs.

  • Management and native Vlan in different subnet??

Can i have a management ip and native vlan in different subnet on a AIR-1242 and 2960 switch?
    Native on Switch = 1.
    Interface vlan 100 = 10.10.1.25X /24
    BVI ip in vlan 100 = 10.10.1.25X /24
    -HM-

    Hi,
    Thanks for the update..
Ok in short YES this can be done.. here is the AP configuration..
Step 1>> Configure the SSID and map it with respective Vlans..
    Step 2>> Create the sub interafce int dot11 0.5 / int fa 0.5 (encapsulation dot1q 5 , bridge-group 5)and int dot11 0.6 / int fa 0.6(encapsulation dot1q 6 , bridge-group 6)
Step 3>> Create the sub interface 0.100 for both Radio and Fa and under this (encapsulation dot1q 100 native , bridge-group 1)
Step 4>> Make sure all the interafces are up and running and Try to ping the VLAN 100 interafce ip addr from the AP to verify.
lemme know if this answered your question..

  • Can ARD 3 now share a screen across 2 different subnets

We have one central office. Clients access that office via a VPN. We can then share our screen with them as we work on a proof of a project.
It's a great solution, however, we can't with ARD 2.2 get it to work with two clients at once over the VPN.
An old Kbase article said that it wasn't possible to route screen sharing to two different subnets in the 2.2 version. But rather required all clients be on the same subnet.
Does anyone know or have the ability to test to see if this is different is 3.0. I'm hopeful that it is, as I can no longer find the old Kbase article saying that it wasn't possible.
    Thanks,
    Greg

Still no reply as to if this was resolved. I'm not so much worried about the move on the client side. As once we upgrade we have the luxury of upgrading everyone at once. I think that will be a smooth process.
However, our motivation to upgrade is dependant on wether or not the ability to route traffice over multiple subents is fixed or not. So we'll wait and see. If anyone can easily test this. I'd love to know. Sounds like a few other people are hoping to hear something as well.
    Thanks in advance,
    Greg

  • Can members in a pool be on different subnets using CSM

Hello. We have recently been investigating load balancing devices, and were almost set on F5. We then overhauled our core network, including replacing one 4507R with 2 6500's, outfitted with Sup720's and FWSM modules.
Now, we are seriously thinking about investing in the CSM or ACE module instead of the F5. I was wondering if the servers in my virtual pool can be on different subnets?
For example, the user is looking for a web server with an IP of 192.168.110.1. This virtual ip is setup on the CSM module, and contains three physical servers, 192.168.110.10, 192.168.110.20, and 10.10.10.1 (server in a different data center, only to be used if the two primary servers go down). Will this work, or do all members in the pool need to be on the same subnet?
    Thanks.

I am aware of the fact that i can click on the app and check with "getinfo" to see with whose apple id it is brought.but there are hundreds app which i cannot check one by one.
How do i filter the apps with apple id and sync?

Connect the device to the computer.
    Open iTunes.
Select the content desired to sync.
    Sync.
