Lenovo V580c [Win 8.1 x64]

Lenovo V580c [Win 8.1 x64]
CSM off. Secure Boot ON.
i5-3230M / 6GB DDR3 1600 / 1TB HDD Samsung SpinPoint F3 (Seagate Momentus 5400rpm) / nvidia GT 740M

- проверьте режим sata контроллера в BIOS Setup;
- надеюсь, чипсетный драйвер установлен;
Intel RST?

  • RAID 0 volume failed - Intel RST, W530 (wonder if it is hardware issue now)

    Hi,
My laptop is about two years old. I got one of two intel RAID 0 volumes failed several months after I got this laptop. This problem has been on my laptop for a long time.
The functionality of my laptop started to become poor after this volume failed. In the beginning, windows explorer stopped working and restarted every time I opened the laptop. The windows repair tool said windows could not be repaired... So I reinstalled the OS and reset it to factory setting. However, the crashes persisted and gradually became more frequent. Many other error reports showed up. After searching for solutions, I finally did a clean windows install and used the BIOS Intel RST to repair the corrupted volume (I deleted old volumes created new ones).
Unfortunately, now, the same volume fail error appears again and the functionality of my laptop is impacted. Sometime I cannot save my excel or pdf file because program stop working, or cannot open a pdf file. I have to restart the OS.
The detail error message of Intel RST is: "your volume appears inaccessible. Try fixing any problems reported on the array disks. If this fails, review the Troubleshooting section under Help for more information. In all cases, back up any accessible data before taking action".
I'm now wondering if it is the hardware issue. If so, I'm thinking about buying an extended warranty because my orignal warranty has expired. However, I'm not sure if the warranty can cover this...
In this community, I find there are two types of extended warranty, one will start from the expiring date of the original one and the other will start from the date of purchase. I suppose I need to find the second one.
I'm also wondering the quality of the warranty. Will it take a long time to repair if I send it? or will it take a long time for them to ship?
Any idea, solution and experience in warranty / repairment would be appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    Haoyi
BTW, here is also my experience with Lenovo if you would like to have a look at:
I got my W530 two months after purchases... I found it was a common problem in Lenovo...
When my laptop was still in the original warranty, I contacted the lenovo customer service for repairment of the failed volume. Those people told me it was errors coming from my software. They said the repairment was not covered in the original warranty and I needed to buy a new type of warranty (related to software repairment). I had no confidence in the quality of lenovo's customer serivce... So I did not buy it.

    Hi, Colonel,
Thank you for reply. I tried HD Tune, but it cannot show any information about my harddisk. It only shows Intel Raid 0 Volume, the firemware version is 1.0 and the capacity is 931.5GB. There is no other information, such as serial number, standard, supported, and buffer. I cannot choose supported features. HD Tune also cannot display the temperature of my drives. What should I do?

  • Proper way to migrate OS to new SSD with mSSD cache Intel RST installed ?

    Hi everyone,
    I have a laptop hp envy dv6 7300 CTO.
it has  750 GB SATA  with 32 GB  mSSD for Intel RST cache now.
Right now,  I am purchasing 500 GB SSD to upgrade my HDD so I guess I do not need intel RST to work with my new SSD.
I am not sure about how to disable intel RST cache properly (without damaging OS)
    I think
    1.  Backup my important data
    2.  Disable Intel RST in laptop BIOS  , just change from <enable> to <disable>  and hope system will resolve everything.
    3.  make sure system run in AHCI mode, check boot order
    4.  Boot to windows , make sure everything work fine (should see new 32 GB drive)   uninstall intel RST driver stuff.
    5.  Clone HDD to new SSD
    6.  install SSD to laptop   , set boot order
Am I correct about process ?

Erico has a guide on moving to SSD ,with several methods:

  • Intel RST Service Not Running

    PLEASE HELP
Since updating from Windows 8 to 8.1 I am experiencing performance degradation on my HP HPE-250f desktop PC (one HDD, NO RAID).
In the past (Win 7 & 8), when I would occasionally notice performance degradation, the Intel RST icon in the system tray would have a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in front of it and if I would hover over it, it would say “Intel RST service is not running”. I would then reboot the PC and performance would return to normal.
Since updating to Win 8.1 everything stated in the previous paragraph is still true, except nothing changes after the reboot.
I’ve tried right clicking on the RST icon and then opening the IAStorUI program, but the message “IASrorUI has stopped working” flashes on the screen then disappears and nothing changes.
Any help solving my problem will be appreciated.

    Hi,
Some versions of IRST have delayed startup.  This improves the startup time to get the desktop displayed.
Try the lastest version of IRST.
I have never experienced an performance degradation due to a delayed  IRST startup. However, your mileage my vary.

  • Qosmio F60-00Y- Intel RST, TOSHIBA PC Health Monitor crash

    Hi,
Just started having problems today with my Qosmio F60-00Y, purchased June 2010. I do have extended warranty but just wanted a quick fix since system is still operational.
As I have lost my factory settings recovery I can not reset my system.
It is working fine at the moment as long as I don't open both programs Intel RST, TOSHIBA PC Health Monitor.
When I open one, system decides to freeze and fan speed accelerates and it shuts the notebook down. I have done system restore several times too and same problem still happens.
I have reinstalled both programs from:
    http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/qosmio/f60/pqf65a-00y002/download
After re-installing assuming, programs will run fine again. Same thing happens, crashes and shuts down.
I do regular virus and anti spy-wear check up with trend micro 2012 and still active every 7 days and defragment the system every 7 days.
    No viruses and spy-wear found.
    PLEASE HELP!
    thanks,
    Lem S.

It is not easy to say how you can fix this.
Try to remove all problematic applications, clean registry entries and try to install it again.

  • HP 3D DriveGuard not working with Intel RST enabled (Envy 4-1050)

Hello, i'm having this issue and it's driving me crazy. I got my Envy 4-1050la three days ago and the first day i've changed the operating system to Windos 8 64 bits since I've bought a key last year.
Now all is installed and working properly (after having tons of issues enabling Intel Rapid Storage Technology and restoring all device drivers), exept for the DriveGuard 3D.
With Intel Rapid Storage acceleration disabled, DriveGuard will detect the hard drive as "supported" and the SSD as not, wich is the normal behaviour. But with acceleration enabled in either "enhanced" or "maximized" modes it shows one single drive (as expected since Intel RST makes a RAID array) but it says it's UNSUPPORTED and protection won't work at all.
I've tried several 3D DriveGuard versions without succes.
I will appreciate your help, thanks inadvance!

Hello again, haha, i'm sorry but I dind't get my cake with this recipe. I followed this steps located in the link you gave me:
    1. Disable acceleration
    2. Select "Make available" to dissociate drive.
    3. Enable acceleration but instead of choosing "Full Volume", you can choose to only use 18.6 GB. That's the only other option available for a 32 GB drive, you can't go down any more.
    4. Format what's left in disk management.
The result is RST working with 18.6 GB and the rest formatted into an usable drive. But still DriveGuard won't work giving me the same "Unsupported" message.
I send you two screenshots of the procedure. First of all, one showing DriveGuard fully functional with Intel RST disabled and all space on the SSD unlocated. The second one shows the result after the given procedure showing DriveGuard listing all the drives as Unsupported and RST working over 18.6 GB fixed capacity in "enhanced" mode, with the rest of the SSD formated in a NTFS partition without unlocated space left.

  • Yoga 13 - BIOS update kills Intel RST

My Yoga 13 had the fan noise issue and I ran the recent fan embedded controller (EC) update to 66EC42WW from the Knowledgebase article. My BIOS is at 66CN52WW after the Jan 28 BIOS update (66cn52ww.exe). After the EC update and a cold boot I get the error message that Intel RST is no longer properly supported on my Yoga 13. Also, there is no longer a BIOS setting to enable/disable Intel RST.
I uninstalled and tried to reinstall Intel RST, but get an error message that the system does not support it. I suppose this is due to the BIOS setting missing. I then went to the Yoga 13 driver page to see if there were any newer/older BIOS files and the Jan 28 BIOS update is now TOTALLY gone.
    So, a few questions:
    1. Was there an issue with BIOS update 66CN52WW that forced the update to be pulled?
    2. If so, what were the problems?
    2. If the BIOS did have problems for those of us who applied the update, is there an older BIOS file we can reflash to restore Intel RST?
    3. If we do reflash with an older BIOS what should we do about the fan update? Go back to the original or keep the new one?
    Thanks for your input.

Thanks. As I mentioned in my post I have uninstalled RST, and the PC runs fine. In researching the effects/benefits of RST it seems it enables a faster restarting hibernate mode that uses less battery power than the normal Windows sleep. This may be important when traveling and away from an electrical outlet for a while.

  • Setting up Intel RST on z77a-gd65

    Hi All
Are there any detailed step by step guides to setup Intel RST on a MSI Z77a-gd65 ?
I went into the BIOS and set the SATA Mode to RAID MODE. I installed Windows 7 using the latest RAID drivers from MSI. I loaded all the drivers with no problems.
When I try run the RST installer file it comes up with a message "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software"
I also have edited the registry changing the value of the "Iastorv" START section.
Am I doing something wrong? Should I be changing something in the RAID controller configurator (CTRL I) ?
Any help will gladly be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
have your red the "Appendix B - Intel RAID" section of the mainboard user manual?
    --> http://download1.msi.com/files/downloads/mnu_exe/E7751v2.2.zip
Includes a detailed description on how to set up a RAID Array using the Intel SATA Controller, including numerous screen shots.
Also, what is your current BIOS Version and which SATA-Ports are your HDDs or SSDs connected to? ---> >>Posting Guide<<

  • Intel RST Service is Not Working

Hi guys, I'm hoping you can help me with this error message that I noticed on my Toshiba laptop.
Yesterday, when I was editing a video (less than 2 GB in size), my laptop just shut down without any warning. I didn't have any other applications running, nor web browsers open, except Windows Live Movie Maker.
As I was saving the edited video, I could hear the fan inside the laptop blowing really fast and the bottom of the laptop was quite warm (not hot).
I thought that my harddrive crashed. After the laptop shut down, I waited for about half hour before turning it back on. Thankfully it rebooted normally and it seems to be working ok. However, I noticed that in the system tray (see image to the left), there was an error message indicating "Intel RST Service is Not Working"
I looked online, as well as on this forum, to see if there were any solutions I could find. And I hope I can get this resolved before the issue escalates. I could not find the exact cause of the error, but the only solution I could find was to reinstall the Intel RST driver. Before I do so, I wanted to just confirm if this is indeed what I should do.
Can you please confirm that I should reinstall the Intel RST driver? If so, which one is the correct driver. I found the Intel Download Centre website below. Do I download the driver that reads "RAID: Intel® Rapid Storage Technology Driver for Intel® NUC" dated "12/2/2014" version "13.5.0.1056"?
My laptop details are as follows:
    Model: Toshiba Satellite L500
    Processor: Intel Core i3 CPU
    System Type: 64-bit Operating System
    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
Should you require any further information, please let me know.
    Thanking you in advance!

  • T530 Intel SSD 520 Freeze Issue Win 7/8

I've tried asking Lenovo support, however I'm yet to receive a reply. The other concern is that now that I know more, which may speed the reply, I'm unable to update the support request, which is annoying that such a feature is missing from the support system!
Anyway, I thought I'd try this forum to see if anyone else is having/had this issue, and may be able to help.
The issue: Widows 7/8 Freeze often for around ~30 seconds.
In Win 7 - Event viewer says "\Device\Ide\iaStor0 did not respond within the timeout period"
In Win 8 - Event manager says "Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued."
After doing much research on the Internet, it would seem that this is a common issue with some SSDs and Intel's controller. The issue, in my case, is that Win 7 and 8 freezes when configured to use HIPM and DIPM, though I'm not sure if it's both or only one. In Win 7 I was able to use a registry hack (I say hack because I should have to resort to this to get it to work) to make Intel's SATA AHCI drive work. However, I wasn't able to use this same method in Win 8 as the new driver is slightly different and I can't find the necessary information to know how to implement it properly. You think that considering the SSD, chipset, and driver are made by Intel it would work, right? WRONG
Reference: The win 7 registry hack: http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f108/solved-device-ide-iastor0-did-not-respond-within-the-tim...
I have found a work around in Win 8, but I consider this not good enough, because I feel that all that should be required is for me to install the "Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver" from the Lenovo support page and that should be it, the device should work. There should be no need to a registry hack or lose many hours trying to make it work - simply, not good enough!
Reference: The work around I have for Win 8 is:
Remove Intel's "Rapid Storage Technology Driver" in favour of MS's generic version
Applying another registry hack to enable MS's power manger to show the HIPM and DIPM options
    Disable HIPM and DIPM

    I would not think so.
My understanding is that it's more of a powersaving feature than anything else. I beleive HIPM and DIPM simply stands for Hardward Initiated Power Manager (Internals request power off for the sata bus), and the other Device Initaited Power Management (HD requests power off for the sata bus).
