Sip connection failed until reboot on E72 and othe...

Hello,
Let me explain in details with some comment about what i thing about E72 and nokia in general.
At first, E72 replace now my "old" N95 'cause, in my mind, this phone, or s60 3rd fp1, is no longer supported by nokia (no free maps as example). I've chosen E72 for its battery and its functionalities that seems to be at least the same or better than N95.
But, among some lacks, there was no "internet tel." menu that could allow me to setting up my voip settings as easily as on N95. I've downloaded this additionnal sofware with its thousand settings that made me crazy to get it work as fine as on N95, without additional actions than clicking "use it"
Finally, after playing with "x-lite" sip software and its codecs manager, VOIP works now fine. Except in some case I can't explain. Some times, E72 is unable to connect / activate "internet tel" service, the problem doesn't come from wifi connectivity that works with other software like maps or web, I try to deactivate and reactivate voip service (from contact menu ?) and always no internet tel service. I must reboot phone to get it works. what happen ?
So, is s60 3rd fp2 an evolution of fp1 or a fork without any knowledge management on bug reports and solutions ? When an application or service works fine, why making changes that break working functionalities.
In that way, it's more and more difficult to get nokia phones working fine.
It's impossible to set up "internet tel call mailbox" via the menu "call mailbox".
You must enter this setting in the "advanced voip settings" to get it appear in "call mailbox" menu.
In general terms, the software integration is very bad. To get a near basic functionality working fine we must click everywhere to find the last ultimate hidden parameter.
Don't ask yourself (nokia) why end users buy iphone in spite of poor functionalities and capabilities. End users don't really want to learn all phone architecture to set up their phones.
Why are mail set up in "messaging" and in new "nokia messaging"  app? why video menu in gallery is a link to video center and why videos are in image menu ? Why the "optical button" has different sensitivity depending of the menu or application ? Why is there's no way to setting up "default call type" like on N95 in "call settings" ? Why internet call service manager is in contact menu ? Why is it impossible to delete shareware like "world traveler" that's always ask for internet connectivity until setting up all functionalities to update manually ?
Finally I was able to get rid of some lack, but it's only because I'm a kind of geek. A lot of my friends are old nokia users and went to iphone. I'm not waiting for an "iphone like" nokia phone but only a better software integration with a minimum of logic. Nokia os looks now like a big multi patched app with a new bug to correct another ... All these modification are easy to find in the "help" built in page, to many topics looks like "option may varies depending of ..." and E72 manual is out of date and useless because a lot of menu links don"t exist in the phone UI.
I'll still trying to setup my present and future nokia phones until only high level developpers will be able to set parameter via the new powerfull command line UI.
On conclusion, it's as difficult for you to read me than for me to undestrand how is organised my S60

I recently did a clean install on my MacBook (from Leopard to Snow Leopard) and ran into the same problem. I provide limited support at my office and do that primarily through screen sharing. One thing I noticed after the install was not only could I not screen share with anyone on the local network, but if anyone tried to connect access my shared folder it would actually open the shared folder of another computer on the network.
Whereas Screen Sharing would simply time out if I attempted to connect to the majority of computers on the network. However, when I tried connecting to the machine whose shared folders would open if someone tried connecting to my computer, I got the "Connection failed. The server is available on your computer. Access the volumes and files locally." error.
After performing a hard reset on our Airport Base Station I am now able to screen share with the other computers on our network EXCEPT for the one that gave me the error in quotes above. Any ideas?

Hello I recently downloaded an app on my iphone 4s - Remote mouse- so i can control my laptop that is connected to my tv, it used to work fine and now the connection fails, I downloaded another app and the same problem occurs, its not the firewall and both phone and laptop are conected to the same wifi, i also tried to connect it manually with the ip address and still no connection, can you help??

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Then reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.(No data loss) Try it again.

  • "Connection failed" message after entering Desktop and Screensavers pref

Whenever I open System Preferences and click the Desktop and Screensavers preference pane, a message window pops up saying, "Connection failed. There was an error connecting to the server "iMacWife". Check the server name or IP address, and then try again."
I think my iMac is trying to connect to my wife's iMac, which used to contain all of the family photos. These photos now reside on my iMac. But I can't get rid of this message. I tried tossing the Desktop and Screensavers preferences, but it didn't work. I tried making a backup of the prefs folder and then deleting all the prefs inside the folder, and that actually worked. No error message. But when I copied back the prefs, making sure to NOT replace any of the newly created prefs (for finder, D&S, By Host), the connection failed message reappeared. So there's some other pref related to the Desktop and Screensavers pref pane that is looking for something on the wife's iMac and not finding it.
And ideas what this may be?
    Thanks!

I see this has not been answered yet. I have the same issue after getting rid of an old server--nothing should be connecting to it anymore, but I'm getting the same message when entering system preferences..Desktop and Screensavers. The only way to get rid of this message (until the next time) is to force quit system preferences.
Does ANYone have any idea how to fix this?
    Thanks

  • "Connection Failed" when trying to connect to another Mac on my wireless network.

    Hi,
I am having an intermittent problem with the connectivity between my iMac and Mac Pro - the latter is the media server for our house. Occasionally my Apple TV's seem to lose connectivity to the Mac Pro too which is a real pain. Both Macs are running Mavericks and the Apple TVs are running the latest software too.
If I try to connect to the Mac Pro in Finder on my iMac, the Mac Pro is there but when I click on it I get "Connection Failed". Rebooting both computers seems to fix the problem but is far from ideal when mid way through a film!
The messages in console on my iMac when I try to connect to the Mac Pro in Finder is:
    14/03/2014 10:20:33.542 sharingd[253]: SDSharePointBrowser::handleOpenCallBack returned -5999
14/03/2014 10:23:34.180 locationd[82]: could not open write stream for /var/db/locationd/clients.plist
I'm not sure if this provides a clue?
    Thanks in anticipation,
    Rob

I've managed to connect OK using Connect as. So at least that part is solved. I will see if I can get any diagnostics as to why the Apple TV drops out.

    Hi,
You are right, its working with additional changes.
In Menu - Settings - Configuration - Default config. settings.
You can try this, it may work.
If you go to Menu - Settings - Configuration - Personal Settings - My Web
And follow the steps, you do not need to fill in any details, just activate it.
Then go to Menu - Internet - Web Settings - Configuration Settings, then select configuration and change to Personal configuaration. Then the 'account' should say my web.
So for good, then check the
Menu - Settings - Configuration - Default config. settings. "Default config. settings", if that still in operator's config settings you have to change this in to "Personal Config."
    then it will work properly

    Hi,
Tap Settings / General / Reset / Reset Network Settings.
    Restart the iPad.

Also my home button has been very sketchy lately. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt.
Probably a good idea to get that repaired. If you just purchased this iPad you have 14 days from purchase for an exchange or refund.

  • CME 7.1 with SCCP 7940G phones and SIP connection to a VOIP provider - inbound outbound fails

Here's a quick and dirty diagram of a CME 7.1 configuration. The phone can all call each other but something is not quite right with the SIP provider. The registrar and SIP registration pieces are working but most of the configuration examples that I've seen make me think that the CME router was being used as the edge device to the internet. From my drawing, you can see that is not the case here. My edge device is a Cisco ASA5505 with 9.2.x software running. I might be missing something in the SIP gateway knowledge department. Without diving into the configuration, I'm wondering if SIP messages are failing for calls because of NAT'ing? Trying to do searches has been tricky because I keep running into information that is more about setting up CME for SIP phones or just getting SIP to work between CME and a SIP provider. I have that part working. I'm just a bit unsure about how an SCCP 7940G gets an outbound call or even gets one to come in.
When I dial from my cell phone to the pilot number, there are no rings, it just goes to the VOIP provider's voice mail. When I try to dial out, I get a fast busy.
So, is NAT a consideration? Will the SIP gateway set up a call (forward) via the pre-established SIP connection? Yeah, I do sound like a newb.
If anyone has good information about, let's say, an inbound call and how that traffic flow works.
    Thanks!

Have you configured your ASA to either NAT the IP address of the CME router or to do port forwarding for port 5060?

    Hi F1N5G10,
Thanks for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you don't have the AirPlay option on your iOS devices. Restarting your Apple TV and iOS devices was a good first step, and you can find some additional tips to guide your troubleshooting at this link:

  • '"Connection Failed" : The server "rrnas01" may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again' message

'"Connection Failed" : The server "rrnas01" may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again' message keeps displaying whenever I try to open any Adobe CS5 applications (except for Adobe Acrobat Pro). It displays until I click "OK" about 15-20 times or so and then will finally let my program open.
I have tried deleting files within my Library/Preferences folder and turning off/deleting login items within my system preferences as other forums suggested but nothing happened. Spending 3.5 hours on the phone with Adobe and completely uninstalling and then reinstalling the entire CS5 Master Collection didn't work either.
Also, it may be helpful to know that my programs worked fine for about three weeks then when we got internet and changed the password (the join, not the adminstrative password) with the wireless network "ScubaSteve" (which I've used with no problems at my old apartment) it started acting up. I have never seen "rrnas01" before so I don't know at all where it came from. I also installed the free 30 day trial of Suitcase Fusion 3 recently, but thinking that could also be the cause I have uninstalled it, and still no help.
Please help me! And please keep in mind I don't know all the computer lingo that a lot of the people in these forums seem to know. Thanks in advance for ny help you can give me.

It may not be possible .. there is a major bug between Mountain Lion and the TC where the TC disk goes off the radar of the computer.
Lion is also affected but not as badly.
7.6.4 seems worse than earlier firmware.. so back to 7.6.1 or 7.5.2 if that is possible.
Obviously that is not a solution for a later Gen5 TC.
Reset to factory after the firmware downgrade. .use all network names that are short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
If the TC is the main router set the dhcp to a very short lease time.. eg 30min.. and see how it goes, or try a longer lease like 99days.
I prefer the very short lease but response has been mixed.
Use ethernet not wireless.. ethernet is always more reliable and stable than wireless.
And last .. a nightly electric timer that powers off every night at midnight for 1min.. would not be the first device we have suggested a fix that amounts to beat the unit to the punch by forcing it to reboot since it is unstable.

Does this happen with all the devices or just one devices?what do you see in the deivce logs
Can you mirror a port on switch and collect network trace?
Do you see any relevant event id on the front-end servers?

  • Tried updating my iPad mini to iOS 8, it went into recovery mode and when I try to update then restore it on iTunes it says the download will last 300  HOURS and then it says something like "Connection failed"?

I tried uppdating my ipad then it went into recovery mode. I thought "oh no problem, my phone has done this before". So, I hooked it up to iTunes and started to restore/update it, but when the update began, it said it would take 24 hours to download. Already abnormal. Then, the number kept rising higher and higher until it got to 300 HOURS. Then, once it reaches a certain 300, it says "connection failed. please check to see that you have a working connection or try again later" or something like that. So, my iPad is now stuck in recovery mode and I can't exactly talk to people now. What do I do?

    Hello aZaa4401
Sorry to hear about your issue. I would start your troubleshooting with the article below to check to settings of your computer to make sure your connection is good to the iTunes Store.

  • Installing Mavericks produced "a connection error occurred" in Mail and "connection failed" in App Store

    Dear Apple Support Community!
I installed Mavericks OS X on my iMac immediately after it was released. I was soon starting to experience trouble with logging in to Mail and App Store. After contacting Apple Support and trying various tips and tricks to no avail, like re-installing Mavericks for instance, I just decided to wait for an update of the OS X to see if that would solve my problems. Unfortunately, that didn't help either.
I therefore turn to the Apple Support Communities in hope of expert help that will solve my problems.
Here are the actions that result in error messages:
    Mail > Choose a mail account to add > Google > Continue > Name/Email Address/Password > Set Up > A connection error occurred.
App Store > Sign In > Apple ID/Password > Sign In > Connection failed.
I have three accounts on my computer:
System Administrator, Guest Account and Other.
I use the “Other” account as my regular account. When I log in to the System Administrator or Guest Account I don’t experience any problems; Mail and App Store work as they should.
Booting in safe mode does not solve the problem:
I disconnected all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and removed all aftermarket expansion cards. I booted in safe mode and logged in to the account with the problem.
I tested the said actions while in safe mode. The problems were the same.
After testing, I rebooted as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verified that I still had the problems.

I have had somewhat similar problems as Øystein Ange since upgrading from Snow Leopard to Mavericks in January. But fortunately, I have been able to solve many of them after a lot of trial & error, frustration and sweat! I now long for the more than 2 years of previous Snow Leopard usage when problems were small, few and far between, and quickly solvable. I feel as if Apple has cut me adrift and left me to struggle on my own with the seemingly numerous problems of getting the performance of Mavericks to finally stabilize on my iMac.
Øystein's Feb. 8th post asks some of the same Mavericks questions that I still have. It would be very helpful to me, and to others I'm sure, if someone/anyone has specific suggestions or solutions on what one could/should do to fix specific problems with newly installed Mavericks OSs, short of a clean, full re-install of the OS.
I have one admin account plus the guest account on my iMac Mavericks. Does this mean my admin account is a/the root account?! How can one tell whether or not they are logging in with a root account?! What's the distinction between the root account, a user's admin account, and other standard users' accounts?! Could someone please recommend a definitive Apple document describing all the various types of Mavericks accounts, in detail, and how/when/where/why each type should be used before or along with any of the others?
Why is it suddenly a no-no to log on to Mavericks via the root user account, when previous OS versions had no problem with this?! What's the purpose of the root user account if not to use it to log on to the computer?! If it's so dangerous, why isn't it internally safeguarded from inadvertent logins by casual users?! What damage or harm are we talking about, and why weren't personal-use customers given a big warning about this apparent "booby trap" in Mavericks?! Saying NEVER DO THAT is like closing the barn door after the horse has already bolted, and it explains nothing to the casual user.
We can't just do a clean re-install every time something in Mavericks hiccups?! Based on my recent experience, and on what I'm seeing in this thread, I would have had to re-installed it a half dozen times in the past 2 months alone!! That's nonsensical. There's got to be a better way of fixing a newly installed Mavericks OS than doing a re-install over and over again. Why don't the Mac diagnostic and troubleshooting tools work in Mavericks' case, as they have done for me on many occasions on earlier OS versions?! What is it about Mavericks that makes it different this time?! Could it possibly have something to do with integration of Mavericks and iCloud; and, if so, what specific cautions should the casual user observe to make sure they don't jeopardize the integrity of Mavericks by doing something similar to logging in from the root account?!
Many customers need to be brought in out of the dark! Is there an Apple Mavericks expert out there who can advise the customer community on specifically how to apply the existing repair tools to solve specific Mavericks teething problems, without having to revert to multiple OS re-installs?

If you're trying to connect to a Bonjour server on the remote network, that won't work over a layer 3 VPN. Use something like Hamachi or one of the SSH-tunnelling Bonjour proxy apps for that.

I can't get FaceTime or iMessage to connect, I enter valid password (tested and works for Apple account) and it won't connect. I have checked all settings, upgrades iOS to 8.3 rebooted, changed Apple acount PW still wont connect. My internet connection is fine Safari works and I can access all sites. I have an iPad 2. Any help on this will be greatly appreciate.  iPad 2, iOS 8.3

This is an ongoing problem as you will see by searching the forum.
Out of curiosity, do you have 2 step verification enabled?  It was recently extended to include iMessage & FaceTime & I'm wondering if it might be causing some of the issues that some users are experiencing.

See the subject line.  Anyone know what the problem is? Also, the back up disk is called "time mac" but when I get to the Selct a Backup page, it says to Restore from: Macintosh HD on MarySmith2 and that is greyed out.  Shouldn't it say "time mac".
