SIP settings on nokia X6

I just got an X6. I don't have experience with any other nokia smart phones.
So what is the function of SIP settings under Settings->connectivity->admin settings? Is it supposed to allow you to make VOIP calls? I read in the forums that a lot other phones can be made doing so. If this is the case, how do I setup my profile? I keep on getting "registration fail"

To be able to make voip calls on your phone you will also need to install a voip settings application. I do not know if this is supported on the X6, it is not listed here:
http://www.forum.nokia.com/Technology_Topics/Mobile_Technologies/VoIP/Nokia_VoIP_Framework/VoIP_supp...
You can try installing the S60V5 version you can download from here: http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.nokia.com/id/d476061e-90ca-42e9-b3ea-1a852f3808ec/SIP_VoIP_Settin...

  • SIP settings for Nokia N95

    Hi All,
Can anybody provide detailed guide on how to make SIP settings for N95 so that I can use internet telephony thru my router?
    Thanks in advance.

It'll involve using a proxy put at your disposal by your VoIP provider. Contact them for more details. People here can't help you because they have no reason to know your provider's settings.

go to accounts . press add account, type address as user [email protected] and then password. then go to advance setting and type only the user name and proxy: sip.actionvoip.com.Transport change to UDP.
    It should work.
Thanks for your reply Mr. Abrar, I tried the steps you have explained but it's still not working, say: "Sorry, can't connect to sip.".   It used to work like charms on my Symbian device N8.
Don't know what to do? :-(

  • Nokia E51 SIP Settings

For those of you who may be looking for the SIP Settings of your Nokia E51 (maybe this is also applicable to other Nokia models)
I found the solution in: http://www.daniweb.com/blogs/entry2352.html#
But I'm using Voipbuster & so the settings hereunder are for that voip service.
You may just have to change the values depending on your account and voip service provider.
    Voipbuster settings for Nokia E51:
    Profile Name: Voipbuster
    Service Profile: IETF
Default Access Point: Whatever your access point name is.
    Public user name: sip:[email protected]
    Use Compression: No
    Registration: Always on
    Use Security: no
    Proxy Server:
    Proxy Server Address: sip:sip.voipbuster.com
    Realm: sip.voipbuster.com
    Username: XXXXXXX
    Password: XXXX
    Allow loose routing: yes
    Transport Type: UDP
    Port: 5060
    Registrar Server:
    Registrar server address: sip:sip.voipbuster.com
    Realm: sip.voipbuster.com
    User name: XXXXXXX
    Password: XXXX
    Transport Type: UDP
    Port: 5060

What do you mean by "caller ID to work"?
First of all, does the SIP settings of Justvoip work with your E52?
    http://justvoip.com/en/sipp.html
Or the SIP settings work but you are just asking about the name/number that appears on your friends' display screen when you call them?
As Justvoip & Voipbuster are both from Betamax, I guess it's the same system.
You can't just put any number that you want to appear as your caller ID.
As I said in my previous post, you must register those numbers first as your official caller ID number in Justvoip/Voipbuster.

  • How to Delete Locked SIP Settings.

    Hello,
I tried adding one profile to my SIP Settings. It got created successfully but a LOCK SIGN is appearing along with it. and I am not able to DELETE the profile or edit it.
Can anyone kindly guide me how to DELETE/EDIT it and send the requested information to my mail id [email protected]
    Thanks,
    Pawan.

try resetting device with the following codes
With all these operations I recommend you TAKE OUT MEMORY CARD and DO A BACK UP OF YOUR STUFF!!!
NOTE: In front of the hash key ( #) there is also a STAR key that people often miss and state that the code does not work.
1.. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data) Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list. The default code for ALL operations listed here is 12345.
2.*#7370# - Reformat your phone (out of the box, tho keep in mind that most newer nokia phones at least n series, e series and s60 based phones have udp - user data preservation so not ALL data may be lost. still it is a good idea to always do a back up of your stuff.)3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
    3. hard reset - hold the following buttons * (star key), 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons ( for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, /GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. ) For Nokia N97 (unofficial version but works) is SHIFT /SPACE BAR / BACKSPACE while holding the power button. Again do not let go until you see the handshake screen.
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Why there is a SIP settings if VoIP is not present...

    Hello,
Kindly ask you to explain subject of this post. There is SIP settings on my C5-03 but I can find how to make an internet call ! Moreover nothing about SIP in official attached phone manual.
There is an advise to install "SIP_VoIP_3_1_Settings_S60_5_x_v1_0_en.sis" which will create additional menu like "Advanced SIP seetings" but it doesn't help in my case. Probably that old plugin just not capable with new C5-03.
I can see that this is not only my problem. Please try to resolve this issue, it's very stupid to have SIP settings but not able to make internet VoIP call.
    Best regards,
    another department.

    Hello,
Thank you for quick reply. But seems that you didn't read my post carefully.
I have already perform SIP settings and made my phone registered with configured SIP profile.
Problem is that I can't find how to make VoIP call after that.
In Nokia E63 it was very simple After dialing the number you need just to choose voice, video or Internet call (using created SIP profile) option.
But seems R&D just forgot to put it in call options.
Also given link are leading to already installed "SIP VoIP Settings (SIP_VoIP_3_1_Settings_S60_5_x_v1_0_en.sis)".
However mentioned  "Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Admin.settings > Net settings > Advanced VoIP settings > VoIP services"
    still not present.
Same was indicated by other users, shown in my previous post.
I'm sure that somebody from Nokia is present here, guys, just tell how to make VoIP call using already registered and configured SIP profile, so simple.

  • X3-02 sip settings issue

    HI All
Has any one managed to set X3-02 with sip settings from third part provider not supported in Internet Phone settings?
    Tried to follow this
Nokia X3-02 with VOIP other than Gizmo5
and I have set it up without any problems and got logged in.
The problem starts when calling as the other person cannot hear me. I can here with no problem but I also hear my own voice (just like echo).

    sudude wrote:
Has worked fine for me and on my friends phones as well.
Take a look at this, /t5/Pool-of-Knowledge/Series40-phones-and-VoIP/td-p/1146267
Tried this already and got the it logged in for 12voip as well as justvoip. I can call and I get connected but the communication works only one way which means that the person who I call can not hear a thing. On my site I can hear with no problem and quality is fine.
I presume that there is something wrong with my settings, please see xml uploaded in my phone attached.
sudude Did you create you own xml or used n0kVoIP? I Google it but I cannot get it anywhere.

I dont think I can remove the password, the user profile created on the 3Com NBX must have a password set. I tried the following setting but still get a failed to connect message. Is there documentation on what all the SIP settings are? eg. use security? use compression?

    I can suggest two possibilities:
    (1) The 5230 does not have a fully-functional SIP VoIP builtin client the way E/N series handsets do have, and indeed, the 5230 is not listed on VoIP support in Nokia devices.
    (2) You have to install a small piece of code from Nokia, called "SIP VoIP Settings" (the one that is to be used with S60 Rel. 5), and only through this software an internet telephone profile can be generated for a SIP provider.
If it turns that No. (1) above is the case, I would suggest trying to install Fring for Symbian, and place calls through Fring using the said SIP provider's account...
