SIP User Agent to talk with Cisco Presence Server directly

Hi there! I wonder if anyone has tried to have a customized SIP User Agent to talk directly to the Cisco Presence Server to subscribe for phone status? Any link to related documents? Thanks in advance!

The Cisco SIP functionality enables Cisco access platforms to signal the setup of voice and multimedia calls over IP networks. The SIP feature also provides nonproprietary advantages in the following areas:
Protocol extensibility
System scalability
Personal mobility services
Interoperability with different vendors

  • Sip User Agent for Pocket PC

    Hi,
I want to create SIP user agent for Pocket PC, to enable users to make and receive telephone
calls to other users on SIP platform, and to and from the telephone network (PSTN).
I have read alot of articles, and looks like J2ME + JAIN sip is my solution.
So I just want to confirm that it really works for Windows Mobile 2003?
Is JVM available for that OS?
    Thanks :)

sip useragent for pocketpc is not compatible with j9vm.

  • Cisco Presence Server 8.5 Application - Cisco Jabber menu option not available

                       Dear Support,
I am trying to configure cisco jabber with Presence Server 8.5. All the documentation indicate that jabber option in Presence must be configured in the Application -> Cisco Jabber menu, however this menu option is not available in my Presence Server. Anyone know why this is happening? I am using CUCM version 8.6.1. I installed the jabber client for windows in two Windows 7 machines and I have presence and IM funcitonalities but I can not make calls or activate other features like video, desktop sharing and so on.
Any help would be really appreciated.
                        Best Regards,
                        Roberto López.

Thanks a lot for pointing me to the right direction.
Just one more question. After installing jabber for windows on a couple of laptops and signing in, the call option (right click on contact or telephone icon located right to the contact)  is not available right away meaning that I have to wait a long time for it to appear or if I start a call from the "search or enter number to call" field then all call button and options are enabled. Do you have any idea why this could be happening?
    Best Regards,
    Roberto.

  • Cisco Presence/Jabber both internally and externally

We have installed the Cisco Presence server and intergrated it with our Microsoft Exchnage for ldap, Cisco Unified Communications Manager, and Cisco Unity Connection for phone and voicemail support.  It is all installed inside our corporate network and with my testing, I have found it to be available outside our Corporate network as long as I have a VPN configured and active from outside.
However, management wants the enitre thing accessible from both within and from the outside without having to have a VPN connection. Does anyone know of a method for doing this or could point me to some good documentation as to what would be required?
    Thanks in advance.
    Gene

If you are using Jabber onPrem with CUPS, the only way this will work (for now) is using VPN.  This will give the external using IM/Presence/CUCM.  You cant really open CUCM or CUPS via 5060 Ports and expect it to work.  The problem is the internal/external IPs are not proxied correctly and presence will not work.
If your management really wants to have this seamless inside and out, the best solution right now is to use Jabber Cloud and use VPN back for CUCM call control on the client. (mobile or PC/Mac).
Hopefully sooner than later we will see a "Presence gateway" that will sit in the DMZ and connect external IM clients to the internal CUPS server,

  • SourceFire/FireSIGHT User Agent Won't Open on Windows 2008 Server

I have downloaded v 2.2-18 of the Sourcefire User Agent to use with my FireSIGHT Management Center. I installed the agent on a Windows 2008 R2 server. When I try to open the agent to configure it the program crashes with the exception:
    Application: Configure Sourcefire User Agent.exe
    Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
    Exception Info: System.TypeInitializationException

       at GUI.UserAgent.LoadConfig()
       at GUI.UserAgent..ctor()
       at GUI.Program.Main()
I verified that I have at least .NET Framework 4.0 installed (does this with v4.0 and 4.5.2). The program works on a straight Windows 7 machine. Anyone else seen this issue or can anyone tell me what I need to change to get this to work?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Did you manage to successfully install SQL Server Compact 3.5 as well as .NET v4 prior to installation of the agent? I've seen similar errors where the installer did not automatically download and install SQL CP.
    Thanks

  • How to append the User Agent String in IE11

We use "Internet Explorer maintenance" GPO to append the standard User Agent String for IE9 with "ADFSIntAuth". "Internet Explorer maintenance" is deprecated and will not work anymore for IE11 and later.
Now we want to move to IE11 and I can't find a solution to append the User Agent String. With GPO this isn't possible anymore (Why Microsoft?). And the registry keys I've tested won't do the job. I've tested
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent\Post Platform
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent\Post Platform
So whats is the best way to append the user agent string for IE11?
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/cdc999aa-faec-4aa5-9025-f12a524794f0/ie10-user-agent-string?forum=winserverGP didn't help.

Thank you for the Reply Roger.
I have already read the website you are referring to, but it doesn't say how to append the User Agent String.
    Only this:
"Earlier versions of the browser included
Pre-Platform and Post-platform registry value tokens in the user-agent string. However, this led to
performance issues for customers of certain tools and add-ons. As a result, these tokens are now reported only through the
    navigator.userAgent property"
With a dead link to the article "navigator.userAgent", but with a search I came to this article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ie/ms534712(v=vs.85).aspx But also this article won't say how to append the User Agent String for all
    clients in a corporate environment.

  • My Intel Mac has a User Agent String that is Reading it as a Power PC (PPC)

Hi. I am hoping someone might be able to help me with an unusual situation. I have been trying to watch online streaming of the Olympics with my MacBook Pro (2.2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo). I have updated my browsers to the newest versions and have installed the newest Silverlight from Microsoft in order to ensure compatibility with the nbcolympics.com website. Even so, when I try to get onto the video section, it tells me I have browser or system incompatibilities. I corresponded with the tech person on the olympics website and he looked at my user agent string which (with firefox) reads as follows: "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070206 Firefox/3.0.1" I do not have a PPC mac, it is an Intel Mac. Because the olympics website reads it as a powerpc I cannot get onto the video section. Does anyone know what's happening? Ive searched user forums throughout the internet and have not found an answer. Thanks for any help or direction.

Hi mfwoodwin, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Many Applications are still PPC & run under Rosetta...
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosetta_(software)
Some APPs can be chosen to run in PPC or Intel, quit them All, do a Get Info on say FireFox, see if it has a "Use Roseeta" check box, (not on an IntelMac at the moment to see what it is actually called).

  • Unknown user agent at several forums when using other than firefox 3.6

I tried upgrading to firefox 4.x and was no longer able to log in to several forums. I've heard this problem exist for other members too. So I went back to 3.6 and it worked again. I like Firefox very much and want to keep my system up to date but I need to have access to the forums that I moderate.
The unknown user agent message happens with all higher versions then 3.6. I hope this can be solved or that there is a proper workaround.
    Best regards,
    Paul

That is going to have to be fixed in the forum software or users are going to need to install a user agent switcher addon to fake the user agent that Firefox is sending, but that may cause problems on other websites which are HTML5 compatible.

  • Safari User Agent Control

I am using the most current os x system, Mountain Lion. I have the current version of Safari (6.0.1). The problem that I am having, is that Safari is not automatically adjusting to websites that are not compatible with it. I have to manually set the user agent to Mozilla 11, which is the only user agent that works with the website(s). Is there a fix for this?

Safari is not automatically adjusting to websites that are not compatible with it.
    It doesn't do that.

  • Jabber connection to Presence server /softphone issue

    Hello community,
Can i get some help with Cisco Unified Presence (8.6) working with Cisco Jabber for MAC (9.2.1)? So here is the scenario, we are currently moving away from Cisco WebEX, so i needed to configure our Cisco Presence server to be able have our Mac user login to Cisco Jabber so that they can use the phone.  Currently i have configured CSF device on the Call Manager, which is working fine when i login to Cisco Jabber with my WebEX account, it allows me to define my phone device and login information, once connected i am able to make calls with my Cisco Jabber client.
Now that i have configured my presence server, i have reset my jabber so that i can point to my presence server which seem to work for my account, but i am unable to get another account to work.  It allows me to sign into the presence server, but under the “Call Preferences” tab, it is not picking up my phone device.  It shows alias as Computer (Software Phone) but the area is grey out so i am not able to make any changes.
On my account that is working this area would should my device “CSFXXXXX” the device that i have created in CM.
Also for the account that is not working, it is working if i login with the WebEX credentials and manually set the phone device in the Call preferences.
Hope someone can guide me in the correct direction.
    Regards,
    Allan

I found my error. I needed to add the user to the CTI profile.

  • Authentication an admin user on AP1200 with Cisco Secure

    Hello,
I am trying to configure a Radius authentication for an administrator logging on an AP1200 via HTTP. On the Cisco Secure ACS server I can see that the authentication was successful and with a trace I can see also the 'Radius Pass' answer coming back to the AP1200.
Unfortunately the administrators gets no access to the AP1200 Web page, and the login windows still ask for username/password. The log of the AP1200 does not give any error message.
    The software versions are following:
AP1200 version 12.02A (the last one non-IOS available)
CiscoSecure ACS v2.6 for Windows 2000/NT
    Release 2.6(3) Build 2
The return packet 'Radius Pass' answer coming back to the AP1200 is the following:
    0000: 00 0b 46 aa a0 e8 00 a0 8e 77 de 75 08 00 45 00 |..F......w.u..E.|
    0010: 00 36 0b 70 00 00 7b 11 8b 0e ac 13 58 fd ac 12 |.6.p..{.....X...|
    0020: f8 15 06 6d 06 fd 00 22 05 f3*02 2b 00 1a 95 ad |...m..."...+....|

0040: ff ff ff ff |....|
I suspect that the the last ff ff ff ff (255.255.255.255) shall be equal to the IP address of the AP1200 which was send within the initial Radius request packet.
Thanks in advance for your answer

I had a similar problem with the 350 series. I receieved the following information that resolved my issues.
Using RADIUS, You need to use cisco AV-Pair attribute for admin users with following syntex
    aironet:admin-capability=write+ident+admin+firmware
Here is the procedure for the admin user you to define the Cisco AV pair Attributes .
    a) On acs select the interface configuration and go to the advance option ,
selct "per-user Tacacs/ radius attribute " click on submit .
    b)On ACS , Select network configuration ,
    1) check if you have configuration >> Radio ( IOS /PIX available ) on the ACS
if not add NAS type Radius IOS/PIX , note that this needed for IOS / PIX attribute
    2) After adding IOS/PIX device , select interface configuration >>Radius ( IOS / PIX )
Enable [026/009/001] "cisco av-pair" option , again make sure that you enable
at user and group level click on submit
    3) Add a user ( User setup >> ADD/EDIT ) to restrict administrator access control
    1) enable and configure cisco 09\001 cisco av-pair using
    aironet:admin-capability=write+ident+admin+firmware
