Siri can not find certain contacts in my contacts to call them

I have a Marcus Jones in my contacts.  When i ask Siri to dial Marcus Jones, she says she can not find marcus jones and only presents marcus smith or allison jones.  I dont understand.

I also have this issue, when as for a contact, it showed me three contacts with the same last name, but not the one I was looking for...  I validated it was in my contacts.

    This is a MAJOR diappointment

Do you have a wifi signal?  In order for the wifi only iPad to get any location fix, it needs to be connected to a wifi node - it's only way to determine locations is by looking up the wifi networks hardware address in Apple's wifi node location database of approximate locations (as mentioned already, it has no GPS chipset to use GPS location data).

  • Can not find size_t during import a dll and calling a function crash labview

    Hello, experts
I need to use FingerLakeInstrument  DLL ( see the attached) inside Labview to talk to a CCD camera. it is built from microsoft visual studio C++
I unzip FLI dll in my D:\proj\...\linfli-32 and import dll from there. created a c:\FLIDBG.txt as FLI dll needs to write debug message to it if FLISetDebugLevel() or others are called.
During importing the dll, first thing I got is <sys/types.h>  ( ie size_t ) cannot be found. I have installed free version of microsoft visual studio C++
but can not find "typedef unsigned int size_t"
at the end, I just added
     typedef unsigned int size_t;
in the libfli.h. Having done that, I am able to import all functions into Labview and have a user library called libfli.
However, as soon as I start calling a simple function in a test.vi, such as FLIGetLibVersion(char* ver, size_t len), which involves nothing other than the library, the labview will crash.
I created a simple C test.exe which calls many functions without any problem
    any suggstion?

    Hi, Smercurio_fc
thanks for your reply. Yes, you are pointing to the right place.  I have solved the crash problem.
when importing DLL into Labview using Tools\import\Shared Library (.dll), Labview automatically set the calling convention as C not as stdcall (WINAPI).  it is this that later the labview crashes when a function is called.  as soon as I manually re-selecte calling convention as stdcall, my test.vi works OK (see attached).
I tried Call Library Function too to call libfli.dll, as long as I select stdcall as call convetion. the test.vi works.
How do I know which Call convention I need to choose if  there is no infomation from DLL provider?
    as for the size_t,
    I add   #include <crtdefs.h> in libfli.h and
     add additional include path as
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\VC\include.  this  solved the "not found" issue.
for this case I know that the DLL is built from VC++,  is this right way?
    again, thanks for your time.

  • I can not find certain book in ibooks

I would like to purchase " the 60 second novelist". however, i can't locate it on Ibooks.
is there any way that i can purchase this book on ibook?

If it's not in your country's store then you won't be able to buy it from Apple. You can try requesting that it be added, but ultimately it's the book publisher that will have to create an ibooks version of it and then grant Apple a license to sell it in your country : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html
Is it available in other ebook apps/stores that you have access to e.g. Amazon/Kindle, Nook, Kobo ?

If you are saying that you both have iCloud accounts and use the same icloud ID, then yes, the contacts will be deleted.  The idea is that all devices using the same icloud ID are kept in sync.  You need to use different IDs.  You can keep the same iTunes ID so you can share the songs and apps.  But use different icloud IDs.

  • Finder can not  find and display certain files. Why? Any fix, please?

I've discovered to my surprise that Finder can not  find and display certain files. Computer is Mac book OS X (10.6.8)
No matter what Finder settings I use, there are files which it can not detect and display.
Here are just some examples of files sitting in the HD but Finder can not display them:
    Located in  preference panes :
    fibre channel 1.7
    Located in :    /Library/StartupItems/BRESINKx86Monitoring
    BRESINKx86Monitoring
    FxLicenseManager
    Located in    /Library/StartupItems/FxLicenseManager
    EAP8021X
    Located in    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/EAP8021X.framework
    The questions:
What to make of this inability of Finder to ,well, find? (again - I tried all possible settings of Finder!)
Is there any way to fix it?
    Thanks for any competent suggestion!

    Well, guys,
Interesting suggestions but the problem remains -Finder (aka Spotlight) is not capable to find certain files.Period.
I consider it as a fault of the system because in comparison, a search facility of a plain Windows based machine is capable to dig out and display any file, no matter now deeply hidden...
As far as the suggestion above by softwater  goes , well, I've used the additional foptions  extensively and nothing produced the result needed -that's why I created this discussion.
If someone still believes that using Finder with all its options is good enough, here is a test for you to perform on your own Mac:
-Open  /Library/StartupItems/ and have a look inside - most likely you have a bunch of items. Write down the names of one or two of them. For this test I've chosen
FxLicenseManager  located in    /Library/StartupItems/. You can use any file you want grom this location...
    - Then go to  Finder and set it to display everything in Library of the HD. Remember - for this test you pretend you don't know any file name in this folders.
If the Finder works properly it shall display  folders  of Library >Startup items with all stuff inside, including the FxLicenseManager file I used for this test.
Finder displayed nothing. It is obvious that for Finder, certain locations are off limits. That's why I consider Finder as a faulty.
Of course if someone can set the Finder's  options to do the above search and succeed, I'll be glad to try ...:-)
At this point, what I gather from this discussion is that :
    1. Finder (Spotlight) feature is not to be trusted, despite number of fancy but rather useless options.
    2. If you need to really find everything usually not displayed by Finder you better get real  searching software.

  • Can not find item

Went to upgrade my library. It said I had 429 songs to upgrade for $99.40. Went back a few minutes later and it said I had 429 songs to upgrade for $100.60. Try to upgrade and then received "Can not find item. Try again later" error message. This morning I checked and I have only 3 songs to upgrade. Hmmmm.

I'd wait a few days and see if the tracks then appear as upgradable. With millions of tracks to be upgraded, not all of them will be instantly available and there may be some errors (quite likely, I would say). Plus it's quite likely that the iTunes Store is getting hammered with all the people wanting to upgrade, so there may be intermittent glitches due to the heavy load. If the problem doesn't correct itself in a few days and you're certain that the same album it available as iTunes Plus, contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form at the bottom of the Purchase Issues FAQ web page and explain the problem to them.
    Regards.

    Hi XuanLe,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  The resources below will help you troubleshoot the issue you are having of No Service (cellular data) and syncing with iTunes 7 on your PC.
If you see No Service in the status bar of your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/TS4429
If you're in your carrier's coverage area
Follow these steps, testing after each.
Tap Settings > Enable Airplane Mode, wait five seconds, then turn off airplane mode.
    Restart your device.
Remove the SIM card. If the SIM card is damaged, worn, or bent, or if it's too big or small for the SIM tray, contact your carrier for a new one. Then reinsert the SIM card.
Check for a carrier-settings update: Connect to a Wi-Fi network, tap Settings > General > About, and install any available carrier-settings updates. If you can't connect to Wi-Fi, connect your device to a computer that has iTunes.
Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
Contact your carrier to check for any network or account issues.
    Restore your iPhone.
If you see No Service while roaming or traveling
You might be outside of your carrier's coverage area. If you're traveling internationally, you'll need an international roaming plan to use your iPhone or iPad.

    Restart
Turn off your computer and your iOS device, then turn them on again.
    Update your computer
Check to make sure that you've installed all required updates for your computer.
    Update iTunes
Check that you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer.
Make sure your iOS device trusts your computer
If you connect your iOS device to your computer and see "If you have not connected your iOS device to this computer before, unlock the device and tap Trust," make sure that your device trusts the computer.
    Check the USB cable
Verify that the 30-pin to USB cable or Lightning Connector to USB cable is free of debris and not damaged. If another cable is available, test with that cable instead.
USB cables that are bundled with third-party products or accessories might work only to charge those products and might not transmit data. Also, if you're using a third-party case or extended battery pack, try removing the case and connecting the Apple-supplied USB cable directly to your device.
Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
iOS devices require Apple Mobile Device Support, which should be automatically installed with iTunes. To verify whether it is installed, follow the steps appropriate for your Windows operating system below.
    Windows Vista and Windows 7
    Click Start.
    Choose Control Panel.
Click "Uninstall a program" (or, if you're using Windows Vista's Classic View of the Control Panel, click "Programs and Features").
Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is visible in the list of currently installed programs.
Reinstall iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service
Learn how to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows.
Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed
Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8
Connect the device to the computer.
    Quit iTunes if it launches.
For Windows Vista and Windows 7:
Click the Start menu, right-click on Computer, and choose Properties.
In the upper-left corner, click Device Manager. The Device Manager window should open.
Click the plus (+) icon (or disclosure triangle () (for Windows 7 and Windows 8) next to "Universal Serial Bus controllers" to expand this selection.
Locate the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver in this list. If this entry is displayed without any downward arrow, "!" or "?" symbols over it, then this driver is successfully installed. Continue to "Check for third-party software conflicts".
If the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not listed, continue to "If the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not listed".
A downward arrow appearing next to the device's entry in Device Manager indicates that this device is disabled. To enable this device, right-click its entry in Device Manager and choose Enable from the shortcut menu.
If the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver entry is listed, but has an exclamation mark or question mark over it, reinstall the Apple Mobile Device driver:
Right-click the Apple Mobile Device entry in Device Manager.
Choose Uninstall from the shortcut menu.
When prompted, select the box "Delete the driver software for this device," and click OK.
In the resulting dialog box, click OK.
In the Device Manager window, right-click "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and choose "Scan for hardware changes" from the shortcut menu.
Windows automatically reinstalls the necessary drivers and attempts to remount the device.
If the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver entry still has an exclamation mark or question mark over it, right-click this entry and choose Properties. Under the General tab, look beneath "Device status."
If you see a message that reads: "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)," see the section below for Error Code 52.
If you see a different error code, manually update the Apple Mobile Device driver:
Right-click the Apple Mobile Device entry in Device Manager.
    Choose Update Driver Software.
Select "Browse my computer for driver software."
Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer."
Click the Have Disk button. If the Have Disk option is not available, choose a device category such as Mobile Phone or Storage Device (if listed). Then click next. The Have Disk button should appear.
Click the Browse button and navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
Double-click the "usbaapl" file. (This file will be called "usbaapl64" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows. If you don't see "usbaapl64" here, or if there is no Drivers folder, look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers instead).
Click Open in the Have Disk window. Click Next. Then click Finish. Windows will install the driver.
During installation, if a message appears stating that the software you are installing "has not passed Windows Logo testing," click Continue Anyway to continue installing the drivers.
You can find solutions to other common errors and error code numbers in this Microsoft article.
    Error Code 52
You might see this message in the Properties window for your device: "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)."
    To resolve Error Code 52:
Install all available updates for Windows. See this Microsoft article for more information on how to do this.
Consult your computer manufacturer for updates for your computer's drivers, including disk drives, chipsets, and USB controllers.
Temporarily disable "forced driver signing enforcement" as follows:
    Restart your computer.
While restarting, press the F8 key.
    Windows Vista and Windows 7:
The Windows Advanced Options list should appear. Press the Arrow Down key until "Disable forced driver signing enforcement" is highlighted.
    Press the Return key.
    Press the Return key.
Click "Change defaults or choose other options".
    Click "Choose other options".
    Click "Troubleshoot".
    Click "Advanced options".
    Click "Startup Settings".
    Click "Restart" when prompted.
When prompted, press the 7 key to "Disable driver signature enforcement".
    Reconnect the device.
If the device is recognized successfully, then you'll need to perform these steps each time you start your computer. Consult Microsoft, or whoever supports the installation of Windows on your computer, for more troubleshooting to resolve the issue without having to select this option each time.
If the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not listed
Disconnect the device from the computer.
Save a screenshot by pressing the Home button and the Wake/Sleep button at the same time (the screen should flash briefly). Taking screenshots and saving images on iPod touch requires iOS version 2.0 or later.
Reconnect the device to the computer.
Open the Device Manager in Windows:
    Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    Click Start.
    In the dialog, type devmgmt.msc.
    Press Return.
If Windows needs your permission to continue, click "Continue".
Expand all the sections labeled below (not all sections might be listed):
    Imaging Devices
    Other Devices
    Portable Devices
    Universal Serial Bus Controllers
Look for the entry that recognizes the device as a camera. This entry should be called Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, or Apple iPod.
    If only "Unknown Device" appears:
Right-click on the "Unknown Device" entry.
Choose "Properties" from the shortcut menu.
    Click the Details tab.
In the drop-down menu, select "Hardware IDs."
If the hardware ID displayed starts with:
    USB\VID_0000&PID_0000
This means that Windows cannot read the hardware IDs of the device, and so has replaced them with all zeros. This is typically caused by a faulty USB connection, or an incompatibility with your USB chipset drivers.
Disconnect the device, and unplug all USB devices from your computer.
Shut your computer down, then power it back on.
Reconnect your device, testing each USB port for approximately 30 seconds to see if your device is recognized.
Test with an alternate, known-good 30-pin to USB cable or Lightning Connector to USB cable if available.
If you have an external USB 2.0 hub available, connect the hub to your PC, and then connect the iOS device to the hub.
If your device shows up in iTunes, try disconnecting the external USB 2.0 hub and connecting the iOS device directly to your PC. If the issue returns, you may need to use the external USB 2.0 hub as a temporary workaround. Then, consult your computer manufacturer for any updates for your USB chipset.
If "Unknown Device" appears when connecting your device to more than 1 known-good computer, with more than 1 known-good USB cable, your device might need service. Learn more about your service options.
If the device is not recognized while in Recovery Mode
Your device might not be recognized while in recovery mode. This can happen during an update or restore of your device. Typically, when your device is in recovery mode, it will show the "Connect to iTunes" logo on its display. If iTunes does not recognize the device when in this state:
    Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    Click Start.
    In the dialog, type devmgmt.msc.
    Press Return.
If Windows needs your permission to continue, click "Continue".
Click the disclosure triangle () (for Windows 7 and 8) next to Imaging Devices, Other Devices, Portable Devices, and Universal Serial Bus Controllers to expand these sections.
Check these sections for one or more entries called Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode). These entries might or might not have exclamation marks on them.
If you see only one "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" entry that has no errors on it:
Find out if the computer has USB 3.0 ports. Within Universal Serial Bus Controllers, locate any entries containing "USB 3.0" or "SuperSpeed USB" in the title. If these are listed, you have USB 3.0.If you have USB 3.0:
Try to connect the device to a different USB port. Try each port until the device is recognized. Some computers will have dedicated USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. If so, a USB 2.0 port might resolve the issue.
Refer to your computer manufacturer for updates to the USB 3.0 chipset drivers.
If the issue persists, continue to "Check for third-party software conflicts."
If you do not have USB 3.0
Continue to "Check for third-party software conflicts."
If you see two "Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode)" entries with exclamation marks on them:
Open the Device Manager and connect your device.
    Click the View menu.
    Select "Devices by connection."
Locate the erroneous "Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode)" entries. You might need to expand all sections of the Device Manager to see them.
Directly above these entries will be a USB Composite Device entry.
Depending on your version of Windows, take the following steps to update this driver:
Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8:
Right-click the parent USB Composite Device entry.
Choose Update Driver Software from the shortcut menu.
Click "Browse my computer for driver software".
Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
    Click the Have Disk button.
In the "Install from Disk" dialog, click the Browse button.
Use this window to navigate to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
Double-click the "usbaapl" file. (This file will be called "usbaapl64" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows. If you don't see "usbaapl64" here, or if there is no Drivers folder, look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers. instead).
Click OK in the "Install from Disk" dialog.
Click Next and finish the driver-installation steps.
Open iTunes to verify that the device is recognized properly, and continue restoring your device.
    Check for third-party software conflicts
Certain phone and cellular device connectivity software from vendors such as Samsung, Nokia, Bora, Novatel, Sony, Android, LG, Sierra, Huawei, Pantech, or Motorola might cause your device not to be recognized. If you have such software on your computer:
Uninstall the phone or cellular connectivity software temporarily, and test. Contact the manufacturer of this software for assistance in doing this. If you use the third-party phone or cellular device for your Internet connection, try connecting to an alternate network using Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
Remove iTunes and all related Apple software.
Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
After reinstalling iTunes, test the device.
If you still need your third-party phone or cellular connectivity software that was removed, reinstall this software and test your device to ensure it still functions with iTunes. Contact the vendor of your phone connectivity software if the issue returns.
Also, third-party security software might conflict with iOS devices connecting to iTunes. Follow this article to troubleshoot issues that might be caused by your security software. After resolving any issues that you might have with your security software, you might need to try the steps in this article again.
I hope this information helps ....

  • Nternal ERROR: Can not find the ACL containter for object ...

    Hi Maren
Like you I get this error and do not know what steps caused it.In my scenario I have some mappings that give the error and some that do not - the repository user gets the error but the repository owner does not.
Thinking back over the last number of months (as this project contains 7-8 months od work - we do have exports of the project) I think the ones giving the error are those that perhaps were copied from another to start the coding but I cannot be sure.
I have read the metalink note mentioned above as well as the the queries posted by Oleg and yourself. The queries posted are slightly different, one has a where clause
    fco.classname = 'CMPACLContainer' (Maren's)
    and the other
    fco.classname='CMPMap' (Oleg's).
Was this intentional Maren on your behalf for your problem to be fixed?
We are using 10.2.0.3.33 OWB client and 10.2.0.3.0 OWB repository.
    Thanks
    Edwin

  • Had to uninstall Firefox, now I can't reinstall. Get error message "Can not find archive file." Please help!

I believe I had some kind of virus attack. I got everything cleaned up. (I HOPE) In the process of cleaning the virus, I unintalled Firefox because it wouldn't open. Kept getting the error message that Firefox was already open and I had to close out of the sessions or restart the computer. After restarting the computer several times and not being able to find any open sessions in task manager, I uninstalled. When trying to reinstall, I get the error message "can not find archive file." I've tried downloading Firefox from cnet as well as the Mozilla site to no avail. Please help. I'm getting tired of using Chrome already!

    Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!
    Thank you.
