SIRI directions and locations NOT available in CANADA??? ***!!!

Hello Apple??? Canada is not a third world country, there actually is civilization up here. I bought the 4S SPECIFICALLY for the location/direction available thru SIRI. So when I tried finding a Starbuck's - "Sorry, I can't look for places in Canada" I sure hope this is temporary! Not just Starbuck's, but directions, weather information, many commands. Disappointing iPhone

wilmat09, I believe you are missing the point of most of the frustrated complaints on this page. Siri may well be in beta stage, but it was used by Apple as main selling point for people around the world to by the 4S, and aside from small print here and there in obscure places, it was not mentioned in any of the publicities or in any of the keynotes that it was in beta. Also, why not simply generate the response that Siri can ONLY provide locations in the US ? I am using my 4S in Belgium and at first I thought the issue was due to Belgium being a small country, probably not significant enough for the first wave of implementation ... later I experienced same issue in France and UK and am now reading that basically the only country where it works is US.
I have been an apple product fan and user since 1980 (Apple II), and will remain one of the millions of "unpaid apple advocates" , but in the 31 years of using and buying Apple products, I have NEVER known Apple to roll out their main product sales argument (in this case Siri) in beta so clumsily.
In addition, when going through the customer survey I received after purchasing the 4S, I found some very generic (4 in total) questions with tick boxes to reply to, and no possibility at all to provide real meaningful feedback (also a first in my experience with Apple), and after sending a formal e-mail message to the Apple customer service with my frustrations have never received a reply.
Not sure if it is a co-incidence or if it is just me imagining things, but customer satisfaction orientation seems to have taken a turn for the worse with the roll-out of the 4S ... which more or less co-incides with losing Steve Jobs ... I hope this is not going to be the way of the future for Apple.

HT204407 "Location Not Available" label for one friend and they have the same result for finding me. The issue has not been resolved from reading this article.

I always get 'Location Not Available' for one of my contacts in the Find My Friends app. This same friend get's the same message when trying to find me. The app and the iOS software on both iPhones is up to date, the dates and time on both iPhones are correct and both iPhones are in the UK where the Find my Friends service works fine.
There is one condition in which we can see where each other is and that is by having the app open on both phones, this is unlike all my other contacts within the Fnd my Friends app where I can see where they are despite the app not being open on their devices. Can anyone help? It's really bugging us.

For those who are experiencing ongoing issues with their web services, you can attempt to try the following steps that may

I just updated my iPhone 4 to 6.0, and when I launch maps, the 3D button and compass arrow are there in the corner, but when the App actually loads, it disappears... Is it not available in Canada? Is there any way I can enable it???

I would wager the 3GS and 4 don't have the CPU to handle the rendering they were showing on the keynote. Must be one of the reasons 6 won't support the original iPad either, which has the same CPU as the 4.

Find Friends app keeps saying "location not available" on iOS7?

After I updated my 4S to iOS 7, Find Friends will not actually find the person, it just pops up with "location not availble" everytime. I have tried restoring the phone, logging out then back in, and deleting the app then redownloading it and nothing has helped. The person I am trying to find says everything is working well on their end. Help!

My family has 5 iphone 5s's. Two of my kids and myself just upgraded from iOS6 to iOS7. Now, on my Find Friends app, their locations only say Location Not Available. However my wife and and my other child, still on iOS6, their locations immediately appear.
In talking with my two kids that are on iOS7, I have 100% confirmed that THE FIND FRIENDS APP MUST BE OPEN in order for their location to be found. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. Furthermore, my kids will not leave the Find Friends app open because it drains their batteries at an extremely fast rate. This is a new issue for iOS7.
By confirm I mean this. On a hunch I called them when their location said not available, and confirmed that their Find Friends app was closed. I asked them to launch their Find Friends app on their phones. I then checked my Find Friends, and suddenly their locations were visible. I then had them close their Find Friend app, and sure enough, my Find Friends immediately showed their location as Not Available.
THIS BEHAVIOR WAS NEVER PRESENT IN iOS6. NEVER!. I have also 100% confirmed that my wife's phone, beside me as as I type this, has all apps closed, including Find Friends. However her location immediately appears in my Find Friends list.
I certainly hope that Apple will fix this immediately. I bought the five iPhone 5s's over a year ago, almost exclusively because of the Find Friends app, so I could keep track of my kids. Never once did we have trouble with Find Friends. And the app did not consume much battery, even when it was open.

Mapped Drive - Location Not Available

I have a small recurring problem that is starting to get a little bit bigger.
My environment is:
Server 2012 Standard, AD, File Server, Print Server. Running on Hyper-V (2008)
Clients are Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8.1 all professional.
I have a number of mapped drives that all go to this same file server. If I open a Windows Explorer window on any client and leave it open, after a while (always seams random), I will eventually get an error message saying "Location Not Available"
The contents of the directory I was looking at goes blank when this message comes up. I can click OK and immediately hit refresh on the Explorer window and the contents will come back.
Most of the time this is annoying but I am finding a couple of applications that do not like this behavior. They crash or close connections when this happens.
I have had a Remote Desktop connection open to this server while getting this and it does not get disconnected. I do not see anything that looks related at all in the log files of the client, the server or the Hyper-V host. I have made sure that the drivers
on Hyper-V are up to date as well as all firmware (especially the network cards).
I am not sure if the problem started when I upgraded my personal workstation to Windows 8 (from 7) but that is when I first started to notice this.

Do you mean the issue only occurs on Windows 8 systems?
Also whether these mapped folders are DFS shares or just normal shared folder?
If DFS is involved, test to disable Client Side Caching to see if it is related. Please add this key in all DFS target servers.

As it is a random issue, it will be difficult to find out the root case. You can try to capture a network trace with Network Monitor when the issue occurs. Let's see if any specific information could be found.

I'm trying to complete my order. I'm on the site Lenovo Canada-English, and when I try to pass to the 3th tabs : Payment, I see that Error message : General note regarding shipping addresses:

if you're on the canadian site and seeing that error then it sounds like a bug. your quickest and easiest solution would be to call sales and purchase through a rep. let them know the website has a bug and it will be investigated and corrected.
if you still run into issues then please post your results and it can be looked into further.

Why does Apple insist on issuing iTunes update advertising that Music Match is available when it is not available in Canada. How about employing some effective communication skills. Let us know who the update is for, i.e., USA only!!!!

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

HT1600 Update version 6 not available in Canada?

After turning on AppleTv 3, it said update available and started to download something. After about 20 min. a message came saying update failed.
Checked under Software Update in General, it said Software up to date, however checking the software version # revealed #5.xx.
What gives?

It's more to do with the fact that the 6.0 update has been made unavailable due to some issues some users have experienced. I gather then, that in-between your ATV telling you there was an update available, and you trying to download it, the update had been withdrawn temporarily. Don't worry about it, carry on, as you were. When it next notifies you that there's an update available - wait. Wait a while before updating. Check this forum to see if there are any reported problems before making your next move.

This was the only thing that actually worked. I have 3 iPhones, and 3 iPods on my account. All of the devices could see and use our contacts and calendars, except mine all of a sudden. They were there yesterday, and today I went to use my contacts, and poof, gone@!
My settings had been changed somehow, so that my cloud sync was off for calendars, notes, and contacts. I never did this, and my phone is password locked, so my kids couldnt have. I went and turned them all back on, but they wouldnt show any synced data, even though I was plugged in and on my home wifi.
I tried this trick, but starting a new iMessage, add a contact, go and add/edit a contact, and suddenly I could see all the data. All my contacts were there to choose from to edit an existing contact. I edited something simple, and then saved it, backed out, checked my contacts data and calendars, and they magically appeared again.
This seems to be a problem in iOS as the data was apparently there, but not showing. Now I am good. Thanks a ton for the tip!!!!

HT5958 Existing projects will not update and are not available for Final Cut Pro 10.1.1?

I have updated to Final Cut 10.1.1 but existing projects from previous version will not update and are not available. Have tried to re-install Final Cut as well as bring the projects to another computer which has the update, but they still will not update. Has anyone else encountered this problem and is there anyone who can assist?

In the Finder take a look at the path where your old projects and events are stored. They should be in Final Cut Projects and Final Cut Events folders respectively. Those folders need to be in Users/user/Movies on the boot drive and/or at the root level of other drives for FCPX to see them.
If that's indeed the case, then you should be able to get them updated ny using the Update Projects and Events command form the File menu and then clicking on Locate.

Siri responds with "Content not available"

I have been using Siri since the beginning and the question "Show my brother" always would show his information.
Since yesterday Siri will show his name, but not his info.
Instead of the info I now see the message "Content not available"
Also the request "Call my brother" fails.
I have not modified the iPhone the last month (meaning new apps or iOS upgrade).
When I go to my brother's contact record manually all information is correctly displayed.
The same problems occur for my father's and sister's record.
Other relationships like mother, wife etc. work fine.
I restarted my iPhone but that didn't help.
I went to my own address record and deleted the relationship brother.
Then I recreated it by asking: who is my brother?
Siri asked for his name and I provided it.
Didn't work either...

*shrug* Actually, that's what an iCloud Support agent recommended I do earlier today via chat. I said I didn't want to do that and figured out my solution above on my own. I suspect it would not have worked. I think the problem is in some files on the Siri server. "Content Not Available" suggests to me that they screwed up some of their own permissions or something. Also, am I crazy, or did entering relationships used to auto-fill after starting to enter a name? Or wasn't there a plus button where you get to select a relationship from among my contacts? I feel like it used to do that. Now, it's just a text entry field. Can anyone confirm this? What happens if anyone else tries to create a relationship manually in your contacts?

I am confused as I see that people have been able to add this and get family members on their accounts. Is it just not available in Canada?

Find Friend gives an error: "location not available" despite all efforts t fix it.
I deleated Find Friend and reloaded it.
I reset the iphone 5 and set it up as a new phone.
Both iphones 5 work for other FF entries.

Spy menu only showing some items and properties not available

I am having some issues with the spy menu. In order to try and fix my issues I built the menu from scratch again on one of my pages. Everything works now on that page and when I upload it to the server, it is all there.
However, when I then copy and paste the menu to all the other pages and upload the the server, the submenu doen't show anymore. When I go and troubleshoot it and highlight the menu in its entirety and click properties, no properties will show. On the working page, this ation delievers me a properties bar where I can + or - menu items. Why is this? As this must be why the submenu is not showing either?
The page where everything works is this (See sub menu under coaching clinics) http://www.golifecoaching.com.au/go-beyond-registration-test but on every other page on this website, this submenu disappears.
Can anyone help? I am tearing my hair out and don't fancy having to build the menu from scratch for every page. There has to be a better way.

Disclaimer: I am new to coding in general and this is my first attempt to help someone.
I think the properties bar with the + - has to do with the javascript coding that is generated when you create a new tag, and it is located near the bottom of the page just before the closing body tag.
looks something like this:

so dont forget to copy that over too. Also, check the CSS that is associated within each page and make sure they are all in the same style.
P.S. Have you considered using a template for the menu bar so you dont have to copy it over each time?
