  • HT4972 I need to update a 4.3 version on my iPad 2.  Not sure how to do that as it is not listed in my general settings

I need to update my version of operating system from 4.3 to 7.  It is not listed in my general settings.

Connect the iPad to your computer, open iTunes and it should be recognized. You should get a pop window saying update available.

  • HT201365 Square Register is not listed on Settings Privacy Microphone in iOS 7. How do I turn it on?

How do I turn on the Square Register slider - it is not listed on Settings > Privacy > Microphone?

I am having the same problem, only whenever I have tried to perform any iOs updates (from the computer using most up-to-date version of iTunes) my iPad gets an "unknown error" message & goes into Restore mode.  I then have to use RecBoot to get it out of restore mode w/o losing any data.  So far never have been able to update iOs, and can't do it wirelessly b/c option is not in settings panel...any other suggestions?  Wasn't a big deal before, but now it really needs to be done or certain apps/functions won't work.

  • IPhone 6. How do I enable emoji keyboard? It is listed in settings/general/keyboards but I cannot highlight?

iPhone 6.  How do I enable emoji keyboard in apps.  It is listed in settings/general/keyboards under English but I see no where to turn it on or use it.

Make sure you first add the Emoji keyboard:
Settings/General/Keyboards/Add New Keyboard, then select the Emoji keyboard.
To use the Emoji keyboard, you access it anytime the on-screen keyboard pops up for use by tapping the smiley-face icon on the keyboard's bottom row, left-hand side. I believe iOS 7 & ealier don't use the smiley-face icon but an icon that looks like a globe.
To return to the normal keyboard after using the Emoji keyboard, tap on the globe icon on the bottom row, left-hand side.

  • HT201299 After installing an app on iPhone 5s, I can't use it outside of wifi (using cellular or mobile data) and the app is not listed in settings to enable its use of mobile data - any clues on what is wrong here?

After installing an app on iPhone 5s, I can't use it outside of wifi (using cellular or mobile data) and the app is not listed in settings to enable its use of mobile data - any clues on what is wrong here?

Steps to take to resolve this issue:
    1/  Turn off Wifi
2/  Ensure Mobile (cellular) data is on
3/  Turn iPhone OFF and then ON (re-boot iPhone)
4/  Without turning Wifi on, open an app that requires mobile (cellular) data.
5/  The app will now show on the Settings list with the option to enable or disable mobile (cellular) data
6/  In time all apps that require or use mobile data will be added to the list automatically.

  • Siri not listed in settings

trying to activate siri but its not listed as availble in settings

        Hi ibshagn,
How strange! No Siri is no fun so lets get this fixed. If Siri or other pre-installed applications aere not properly displaying on your device you will want to ensure that this app has not been restricted. To check your restrictions on your device you can follow these steps: Settings>General>Restrictions. Under Allow please ensure that the On badge is present.
    Thank you,

  • Apps not listed on Settings

I just purchased the Team Umizoomi math app and loaded it on my iPad but there is no sound.  I read on the app's site that the sound needs to be turned on through settings. When I go to settings on my iPad, there is only one (of at least a dozen) apps that are listed.  There doesn't appear to be an option to change any settings once the Team Umizoomi app is actually opened.  Any suggestions?

All app sounds need to be turned on in the settings. Are you sure that you don't have system sounds muted maybe? In Settings>General>Sounds that is where the controls for many system sounds reside.
If you are specifically looking for the app to be listed in the settings - if that is what app support suggests - then Clay's suggestions seems logical to try. In the event that the setting doesn't appear, maybe system sounds are muted. Do you have keyboard clicks, emails notifications, etc?
    If not, read this.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • Trying to update software on ipad 2.  Software feature not listed under Settings and itunes not connecting...

I am trying to update my ipad 2 ios software and when I select Settings, then General, there is no option for software.  Also, when I connect to itunes, the ipad is not even acknowledged.  My initial goal is to connect to a wireless printer, but I need to update software first.  Any thoughts on how to update this software that I cannot find and make a connection with itunes when not acknowledged?
    Thanks.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.0.4. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
You can no longer update to iOS 6.x, or down grade the iOS.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and antivirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
    To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
    Go into the iPad's Settings.
Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.

  • Maps not listed under Settings

Someone told me that when he goes to Settings, Maps is not listed.  I just noticed the same issue on my iPad. How can I make Maps appear under Settings so I can change settings for the map?

What feature(s) are you trying to change?  Do you have iOS 6.0.1?
Assuming you're running iOS 6, generally speaking, the features for maps in settings have to do with turn-by-turn navigation.  Here's a list of which devices support turn-by-turn.  Further, if you're not in the U.S., these featuras may not be available yet.

The motion is making me dizzy! Please help!

Make sure that your date and time settings and time zone are accurate (Settings - General - Date and Time). Reset your phone to 'Set Automatically' and then try signing in again - this worked for me.  My date/time settings were not automatic (candy crush cheats!!).

  • HT204389 Siri is not in my Settings.  Why?

Ive been trying to use my Siri to dictate text messages, but it always goes to Facetime.  I tried going into Settings to see if I could change something, but Siri is not there.

If you would have said that, it might have made sense... but that's not what you said...
As you've discovered, The iPhone 4 does not have Siri at all. It has the old "voice command" interface that happens to activate by holding the home button down the same way you activate Siri on a 4S.

  • HT4623 Do not have in settings general update software what can I do plz ??

Hey do not have in setting general update software what can I do plz?

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1. Are you sure you really do not have a 2G iPod? Those can only go to 4.2.1
    Identifying iPod models
    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.
    - A 3G to 5.1.1  Requires iTunes version 10.5 or later
    - A 4G (has cameras) to 6.1.5  Requires iTunes version 10.7 or later. For a Mac, that requires a Mac with OSX 10.6.8 or later

  • "SYNC" Not listed in "SETTINGS"?

Hello! I just purchased the ATV and get everything pretty well setup. I was able to sync my ITunes library to my ATV successfully by initiating a sync through my existing ITunes setup associated with my computer, where my catalog is housed. I then purchased a few songs via my new ATV setup. I had thought I'd read that I should be able to initiate a sync through my ATV, is that correct? I believe it said there should be a SYNC option under SETTINGS, however, I only have GENERAL, SCREEN SAVER, AUDIO, VIDEO, COMPUTERS and DOWNLOADS? I do have my ITunes preference on my ATV setup to automatically sync...would that by why SYNC does not show up in my ATV settings? Thank you very much!

There's never been an option to force a sync manually via AppleTV - the process should be more or less automatic when you add new content to iTunes depedning on the iTunes settings, but I don't think it's as reliable with software 2.0. Restarting either iTunes or the AppleTv will usually force a sync.
The sync options in AppleTV menus were only to designate a syncing library not to actually sync it.
