Siri keeps sending iMessages?!

Siri keeps sending iMessages, even if the person receiving has a Nokia or blackberry, and I can't see a way to change this, because it is really getting on my nerves. Can you change this?! It's really annoying.

No one here can change anything for you, we are all users like yourself.
Did these individuals have iPhones at some point with iMessage enabled?  That would be the only way for them to be setup as iMessage.
The issue is not with your phone, but rather with the user the message is being sent to.  If they were ever setup for iMessage and did not deactivate the service before switching to a non-Apple device that is the issue.

  • Siri not sending iMessages or text messages

I can't seem to get Siri to send an iMessage or Text message on my iPhone 5 (Running iOS 7.0.3), when I try I get the "I'm really sorry about this error...".
I've tried the followign and nothing seems to work:
    - Reset my network settings
    - Tried on 3g/4g
    - Tried on Wi-fi
    - Reset my phone
    - Restored iphone from iTunes back-up
    - Reset and restarted phone with Siri off and turned it back on
Note: Siri sends iMessages perfectly on my iPad over my wifi network
Any help would be soooo appreciatted

    I had the same problem.
Siri would transcribe the message correctly, but then come back with "I can't take any requests right now."
Although she could send an email, tell the time, shuffle all songs, or any other siri function,
she could not read or transcribe text messages.
AT & T iPhone support had me do some stupid resets, then recommended restoring the iPhone.   They said it was a "known issue."  and that this was the solution, but they could not tell why, other than that it was caused by an incomplete installation of IOS 7.  It was clear they were 1) lying, 2) reading from a flow chart and 3) lacking the training or intelligence to help me in any real way.
I checked into this solution in the support forums.  Many people had appeared to have tried this to no avail.
I didn't want to delete all of my text messages, but I took ten minutes to go back -- my text messages went all the way back to 2009 -- and dump the threads I didn't need; probably dumped 100 or more.
That fixed the problem; I could now get siri to read & send SMS messages.
My guess is that somehow, messaging memory/storage is conflicts with some kind of temp memory Siri needs to be able to perform any messaging functions.  Reducing the number of messages took the memory/storage below whatever the limit is.
It's theoretically possible that this problem could be caused by a corrupt SMS database and that deleting all messages would clear that.

  • My phone keeps sending Imessages to someone without an Iphone, and someone else is receiving them through imessage and replying.

If my 3g or Wifi is off my phone will text the correct number, my friend's samsung phone, however whenever my 3g or wifi is on, my phone sends my texts to my friend as imessages that do not go to his phone - they go to another persons device as an imessage...can someone help this is really frusterating.
No one in his house has anything assosciated to an iphone, ipad etc...

I just had this problem. I found this solution on a discussion board and it seems to have fixed the issue:
"So I finally realized (by accident) that you can tap on the text message you just sent, (the blue bubble imessage) and it'll ask "copy" or "send as sms"...and I chose send as sms.
After doing this about 5-6 times, it stopped automatically sending him imessages and started automatically sending him SMS messages instead!"

  • My iPhone is sending iMessages to someone who doesn't have an iPhone.

My friend's iPhone 4 was stolen two days ago. We're on the same plan. He activated his old non-iPhone to use in the meantime but my iPhone 4 keeps sending iMessages to him... which he's not receiving. I can turn off iMessages from the settings menu but then all my other iPhone pals will be getting texts from me instead of iMessages. I tried deleting him as a contact and then making a new one under his nickname thinking I could trick the phone into resetting it but it doesn't work... it still tries to send iMessages to him. Is there any way around this or am I just stuck until he gets another iPhone?

Whenever I ask Siri to send a message to a contact, it will attempt to send it as an iMessage. This is a problem because it will attempt to send iMessages to contacts of mine which aren't even iPhone numbers. Is anyone else having this problem?
So, this is a problem because when Siri attempts to send iMessages to those without iPhones it, of course, fails.
For example, if I say to Siri, "Tell my mother 'Hello.'" It will try to send an iMessage. My mother has an Android phone, so the iMessage just gets lost in cyberspace.
I use Siri quite often, this problem only occured about two hours ago.
Can anyone help me with this?
                   Thanks.

I had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.
turning of locator and the push notifications from facebook--they have a lot!

  • Why does my iPhone 4 keep sending emails instead of texts via iMessage?

Why does my iPhone 4 keep sending emails instead of texts via iMessage?

This was driving me crazy but I've cracked it!!
Go to: Settings, Messages, Send & Receive.  My mobile number was greyed out and wouldn't allow me to select it.  My email address was highlighted but it also allowed me to "Add An Email".  I selected my current email address and it gave me the option to delete it.  Once I deleted my email address, it automatically reverted to my mobile number!!
Hip hip hooray.  I can relax at last.

  • How do I keep my Imessages from being viewed on other devices under my apple ID?

How do I keep my Imessages from being viewed on other devices under my apple ID?

No, you can authorize any number of email addresses on your Apple Id and then select one of those to use as an alternate Send and Recieve for Messages. It isn't necessary to use seperate AppleIDs. I use my phone number on my iPhone and an email address on the iPad.

  • All of a sudden this morning my iphone will not send imessages from my phone number but only from my email address. When I go to the settings for my imessages to choose where they are coming from my phone number is greyed out....Is there a way to fix this

All of a sudden this morning my iphone will not send imessages from my phone....

    Hi Chas869,
Hmm, that is strange that your phone number is greyed out. There are a few things that we can try. First would be to turn iMessages off, then back on. See if you are able to select your phone number. Then if that doesn't work, turn iMessages back off, then reset the network settings....settings>general>reset>reset network settings, this will reboot the phone. Don't worry, it won't delete anything from the phone, it simulates a battery pull. Once the device comes back on, then turn iMessages back on. Keep us posted if that works!
