Siri Location Reminder Weirdness

This is not the same issue I see all over where Siri refuses to set a location reminder. Rather she creates the proper reminder for the proper location (per contact list) yet she verbally confirms the reminder with "Here's your reminder for when you get Home, shall I create it" I say yes and the reminder is created with the location Staples but Siri uses "Home" in the confirmation.
Not a major issue or anything but more of an amusing bug.

It would be great if you did not have to create seperate entries in your address book for other locations other than home and work.  We should be able to add these to our contact information.

  • Siri created reminder for bogus location, causing marital stress!

Over the past month, I have demonstrated my iPhone 4S to at least 25 people at work.  On one occasion, I said, "Remind me to pick up a pizza when I leave work."  Siri appeared to schedule the reminder correctly, and everyone was impresssed, as usual.  I usually delete such demo entries after making them, but this time I forgot.
My wife picked up my iPhone the other day, hit the Reminder icon, and saw an entry, "Pick up a pizza when leaving 711 Hilton Road . . .  "
She asked, "Who lives at 711 Hilton Road, and why were you there?"  I told her that I didn't have a clue what she was talking about, and that maybe Siri just chose an approximate address.  (The address in the reminder is a house about a mile from my work, in the middle of a residential area.)  As you can imagine, this provoked lots of questions, and I correctly stated that I had never seen or heard of that address before.  "But how did it get into your phone?", she asked.
There was a point in the past week or so, when I asked Siri to do something, and she replied, "I dion't know who you are?"  Apparently when something synced, my contacts got switched from using "All iCloud", (where I was listed), to "All in my Mac" (where I was not listed).  That might explain why Siri didn't recognize me, (or presumably my work address), but that doesn't explain how Siri picked "711 Hilton Road", and used it as a "Custom Address".
Any ideas how Siri would just pick this address out of thin air?  (I haven't been within a mile of that address within the past 10 years, and it doesn't show up in a search of either my personal or business contacts).
Basically, when I asked Siri to remnind me to pick up a pizza when I leave work, she ignored my work address, and selected an unrelated address about a mile away, and even created a custom address for it.
Any expert insight would be appreciated.  I'm afraid that I might have to give up Pizza!

I use the location reminder all the time, but today I was walking to work, so had no time to stop and fiddle about with the screen for fear of being hit by a cyclist or a car I didnt see... So I thought i'd use siri-on-the-go, and this is exactly what I tried to do this morning.  I took some screen shots.
I use siri all the time, even with its limitations in the UK on services, I can still use it to "google [Business]" as a work around.
But come on!!, if you look at my last Photo, the reminder service recognises "home" as my address, but siri has no Idea what the word "home" or the frase "my house" is... yet you can ask it to hide a dead body!? and woodchuck wood chucking facts!?
I think its a "missing content" bug that needs reporting.  its a very usefull feature that siri dev's seem to have missed layed.  I might pop into an Apple store and confooze one of there "Apple Experts"

  • Siri and reminder at locations

When I ask Siri for a reminder when I arrive at a location that is in my contacts it will not use that location but the location where I am at when I am creating the reminder.
    Example,
Remind me to pick up X when I go to my parents house.
OK here is your remider. When would you like to be reminded?
When i arrive at my parents house.
I do not understand....you can be reminded at a time....
    When I arrive
OK, here is your reminder. Do you want me to create it.
And the result is a reminder for when I arrive but at the location where the reminder was created not at my parents house which is a valid address in my contacts.
It sure would be great to add a reminder when I am somewhere else so that it remids me when I go to another location where I actually have to do the "thing".
    Thoughts??

  • Location reminder, ios7

Has anyone figured out how to make Siri work like she did under iOS6?  Where when setting a reminder, after she asked what you wanted to be reminded about, then she would ask when you wanted to be reminded?
I have had zero success in getting her to set up a location reminder, without going in and manually editing a reminder after it has been set.
A trip to my local Apple store, gave me the suggestion to delete everything on my phone and manually reinstall everything from scratch..  Or course, they couldn't explain why none of the floor models worked as expected either...

My info is set correctly, and my home and work addresses are in the contact card list..  The problem is that she won't ask for what location I want..    I can set the location manually, but that defeats the purpose of having Siri...  Not that she will remember when I arrive somewhere unless I have the app running..  But that's another issue altogether that is documented throughout these forumns.
I want to be able to set a reminder and have her ask when I'd like to be reminded so I can set a location ( just in case they ever fix the bug with locations )
Sorry to reply to myself, but your post won't show up in Firefox in the discussion thread now..  But it will show up in Safari, but doesn't give me an option to reply in Safari..

  • Next item not working in siri location services

When using Siri location services to find for example "I feel like chinese food tonight" siri responds with a list  of restaurants and asks if you want to call the first one on the list or go to the next one. If you say "next" or "go to next one" siri does nothing it does not progress to the next item on the list. We've just got siri location services here in canada. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong.
Thanks in Advance for any help!

This is no longer an issue. Sometime between friday and saturday something has changed at the server end for siri. There is no longer a prompt to dial number or go to next

  • Using ios 5.0.1 in an iPhone 4. Can't get the gps to turn off in the Reminder app even though I do not have a location reminder set. Battery life suffers because of it. What can I do other than keep the app turned off all the time in settings?

Installed ios 5 and created a location reminder to see how it worked. The gps icon came on and I expected it would because how else would the phone know where I'm at.
After I was reminded and marked it as complete I also deleted the reminder from the app. The gps never went off and the only way I can get it to turn off is by switching the app off in the location settings.
Installed ios 5.0.1 and the same thing. I turned on the app in the location settings to see what would happen and I was again reminded by location to the same reminder. It said in the alert that the reminded was 28 days old. Like I said I deleted the reminder from the app. Somehow it's still in the apps memory and I have no idea how to get rid of it for good.
    Thank you,
    Marilyn

  • Siri-location services always on please help!!

On my iPhone 4s Siri has been on with location services enabled since I got it. Out of the blue the purple arrow next to my battery bar apeared and will not go away this means my phone is actively using location services which drains my battery faster . In settings it says Siri is the only thing actively using location services. How can I use location services without having the purple arrow constantly being there and only being there when I use Siri for something that requires location services

Ok that was a no go. But I previously had an issue where Siri couldn't connect to the network.  On another forum I found the fix which was to:
    1.  Turn Off Siri - Location Services (Settings > Location Services > Siri > Off
    2.  Reboot the phone
    3. Turn On Siri - Location Services
I did that just now and Siri has not used LS once.  Then again, I haven't tried the, "How do I get home" command with Siri yet.  It's a quick fix...for now.

  • When i ask siri to remind me of something, will it also list on ipad and computer?

when i ask siri to remind me of something, will it also list on ipad and computer?

Apparently Reminders can either be a reminder or an event.  If a reminder that's placed on Siri from the iPhone, it will stay ONLY on the iphone.  If it's recorded as an event (not sure how to do that), it will transfer as you've said previously.  I have done as everyone has said and "reminders" are not showing on anything but the iphone.

  • How to use the location reminder

When I first accessed the new reminders app I clicked 'do not use my location'. However, I want to use the location reminder, but I can not find it in my settings to change my preferences. Anyone know how to turn the location on? Does it even work on 3GS?

This worked for me as well.  Thanks!
    shafir,
I had the same problem. By trial and error I turned off the reminders coming from my work-place microsoft exchange server account in "Mail, Contacts, Calendars". Left mail, and calendar, contacts etc on but turned off reminders. The only reminders in "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" that I left on is in iCloud.
The reminder app then appeared in the "location services" list and can be turned on.

  • HT4970 Location reminder not working

Cannot seem to get Friend Finder Location reminder to work, any suggestions?

Yeah, has to be in the address book. If you want to add places you don't really want address cards for you could put them in a separate group, then just ignore that group when viewing.

  • How do i get siri to set a reminder for a time other than the appt time. For example:  I want Siri to remind me at 10:00 pm on Monday that I have a dentist appt. at 9:00 am on Tuesday. She screws up the dates and times no matter what I say

What I can't figure out is how to set a reminder for a time other than the appt time. For example:  I want Siri to remind me at 10:00 pm on Monday that I have a dentist appt. at 9:00 am on Tuesday. She screws up the dates and times no matter what I say

"Remind me at 10:00 pm on Monday".  Siri: "Ok, just tell me what you want to be reminded about".  "I have a dentist appointment on 9:00 am on Tuesday".  Siri should set it up correctly.

  • TS4000 how to turn on location reminder on ios6?

how to turn on location reminder on ios6?

Easy to turn off the Wifi, but a bit more complicated to turn it back on. Here are the screenshots for AirPort Utility 6.1:
To completely turn off the wireless radio signal on the AirPort Extreme......
    Open AirPort Utility
Click on the AirPort Extreme icon
    Click Edit
Click the Wireless tab at the top of the window
Change the setting for Network Mode to Off
Click Update to save the settings and the AirPort Extreme will restart in about 30 seconds
To turn the wireless function back on, perform the same steps above to reach the Wireless tab
Change the Network Mode to Create a wireless network
Type in the name of your Wireless Network
Set Wireless Security to WPA2 Personal
Enter your wireless password and confirm
Cllick Update to save the settings and the AirPort Extreme will restart in about 30 seconds
If this seem too complicated, there is another possibly simpler option, mentioned previously by alanoconnor, but it will be a setting to either allow wireless devices to connect to your network, or not connect.
This option will not turn off the wireless radio on your AirPort Extreme, the wireless radio will remain on at all times, something that you may not want.

  • Siri location services overenthusiasm?

I don't want to disable location services for Siri, but Siri keeps using it long after I've gotten what I wanted. Is there a setting I can change or something I can do to make it relax but not actually turn it off? If Siri were a real person I'd say, okay thank you--I'll call you when I need you again. But I definitely don't want to enable/disable all the time just to save some battery life.
    Thanks.
