Siri misspelling names

has anyone had trouble with siri spelling names wrong and how do u fix it

I was having this problem and it absolutely was irritating me. I was waiting for someone to comment on here so I could fix it. I found a way around it, but I hope there is a better solution someone can offer.
I have one of my contacts as "Jmee." Siri kept spelling it as "Jamie" and would not recognize it. So, I did the following to get Siri to recognize the spelling in my contacts.
Go to contact > Edit contact > Add New Field > Picked "Phonetic First Name" > Entered "Jamie" > Now associates Jmee with Jamie.
Works for both first and last names.

Problem not solved. I just received an new email from the person involved. Same misspelled name in the "From" field. I did as Paul_31 suggested and then quit and restarted mail.

You can call her anything you want, she doesn't recognize her name. I just said "Joni open notes." Sure enough Siri opened notes.

Siri misspelling

Siri keeps misspelling a nearby city, so it will not search in that local area.. The city is Folsom, but she spells it Fulsome or Fulsom. How do i correct that? I have tried to spell it but she doesn't get that, and I can't type a correction because we are in speech mode. I have tried to speak very slowly but no luck there either..... I have tried to ask different questions in different ways with the city's name in it but no luck.....???

Siri is still in beta testing. There is no correction or learning mode as yet.

I want to delete a name I added to faces in iPhoto that is misspelled. Before I caught the error I added two photos. I then entered the name correctly and continued to add photos under the correctly spelled name. Now I can't move the two photos to the correct name or find a way to delete the incorrect one. HELP!

In the faces view you can turn the face over and correct there - or you can go to the photos and correct each face selection

Siri - phoenetic name issues

I’ve been trying to get Siri to differentiate between my wife’s name, “Bec” and my banks name “B.E.C.U.”. However, every time I ask Siri to “call Bec”, it dials the bank and every time I ask Siri to call B.E.C.U., it puts up "Bec you" and directs me to my wife's contact info. This VERY frustrating.
I’ve tried to add a pronunciation in the phonetic pronunciation field but nothing seems to work. I put in “Beck” for Bec and “be-ee-see-you” and "B. E. C. U." for the bank. I also tried to change the banks name to "Bank BECU" but I get exactly the same results. Every once in a while Siri thinks I say "back" and directs me to local hotels (which doesn't make sense). Even if I ask Siri to call “my wife”, she asks for her name and I get the same result as above.
How can I fix this?

Is you carrier Verizon? If so, try this:
Open the phone and dial *228. This is a Verizon over-the-air programming number.
When the system answer press 1 for "Program or activate your phone"
Wait for the call to disconnect. You should get a prompt stating "Settings updated."
Double tap the Home button to bring up the recently used apps list at the bottom. Locate the Phone, Message, and Contacts apps, swiping if necessary, and press and hold until they jiggle then press the red minus sign to stop them.
Wait a 3-5 minutes.
Open the Contacts App to see if they're fixed.

Need to identify the same people based on their (misspelled) names

hello
we have a table with persons and their name (first name and last name in 1 field) ;
the names are often mispelled, so some string comparison is required;
can you advise what the best approach would be to uniquely identify the same people?
so far i have only found this functions :utl_match.jaro_winkler_similarity and SOUNDEX
is there anything else 'out of box' i could make use of to implement the above?
i appreciate any tips

UTL_MATCH (either the Jaro-Winkler or the edit distance functions) would generally be preferred. SOUNDEX is a less sophisticated algorithm.
In the general case, however, doing this sort of thing yourself is extremely difficult. There are commercial products out there that just help you do fuzzy matching on names. If you're going to build something yourself, you're likely going to spend a large amount of time trying to fine-tune the algorithm to try to balance type 1 (false positive, you match names that you shouldn't) and type 2 errors (false negative, you fail to match names that you should). To do it well will require a rather large number of meetings with users trying to figure out the appropriate balance of errors in your particular environment.

Misspelled Name During Initial Registration - Now my name is wrong!

My name shows up wrong EVERY time I am prompted for a password, even though I changed it in my account preferences. I can enter my name either way (wrong or right), and it still works.
My system works fine, but this just bugs the **** out of me. Is there a plist somewhere I can change?

Sometimes ill ask siri a question and try to ask another and the speaker button only beeps once and stops? Help Please

I asked siri my name and it says it but when i try to ask another question the speaker button just rings and thats it

After Siri answers your question you have to tap the microphone image on the device screen to reactive Siri and ask a different question.

EE/Orange change to bt email name

Recently acquired an iphone4. Received message or email from EE offering to include personal name in front of our email name. Now we have an unwanted and misspelled name in front of our [email protected] name. Any suggestions on how to remove it gratefully received. EE site is of no use. Many thanks, Sparkie.

Siri will not recognize Mindi Abair in the music app?

Siri will recognise other artists for me but when I ask for Mindi Abair, it searches for "Mindy a bear." I'm using an iPhone 4S with 16 GB RAM and iOS 8.0.2. I've tried "tap to edit" several times and Siri doesn't seem to remember the changes. I've also tried playing Mindi tunes, asking Siri the name of the artist, and then attempted to pronounce her name the same as Siri. For me, that just produces a wider range of errors. I suppose I could create and name my own playlist but it seems a shame that I can't just ask for my favorite Grammy winning artist. Any suggestions?

Try this, tell Siri:
"Siri, you're not pronouncing Mindi Abair correctly".
Siri will ask how you pronounce it and give you choices for the pronunciation of both first and last name.
Select the best ones and Siri will remember the correct pronunciation going forward.
BTW, You can find the "MindiAbair" app on the App Store.

I am able to get "new line" to work consistently in NOTES. However, it took a while for SIRI to learn what I wanted. At first, SIRI would type out the command. Then I would enter return from the keypad. After about 6 cycles, she learned it and started skipping ta a new line. I'm not sure what I am going to do when I want to actually type "new line" ! There should be a hot word to use to let SIRI know to interpret the next word as a command suggestion. But I solved my new linds issue.

Managing Users - Editing a User Name and Email?

Hello!
I have absolutely no experience using the Windows Small Business Server 2003. Our IT person showed me how to add Users and this is bascially the only task I perform with regard to the server.
I recently added a new User and accidentally misspelled his name. I went back in and edited the User file to correct the name and I was able to send a test email to him and receive a response from him - however, the response came in with the sender's
name still misspelled. I went back in to the User file and found that the alias still showed the misspelled name. I corrected the error there but now the User is not able to send or receive email.
To to clarify:
1. I entered the User name incorrectly - I typed the name ending in "ki" instead of "ik".
2. Went back in to the User file and changed the name and email address to reflect the correct spelling - [email protected]
3. Sent test email to User (ik at company dot com) and received a response from User but the response listed the sender as: "Employee Ki" - instead of "Employee Ik".
4. Discovered that alias was still showing "ki" - changed alias to correct spelling.
5. User is not able to send or receive email.
My questions are:
A. Did I do the right thing by simply trying to edit the file to correct the mistake? Or should I have deleted the User and started over?
B. If it is acceptable to simply edit the file, is there some other step I am missing or that still needs to be performed so the User can receive email?

I did go through and make the correction in every tab. (That was actually how I found out that I had missed the "alias").
This employee is mostly out in the field and will be sending and receiving email from his phone or ipad. He was able to send and receive email before I corrrected the "alias" - would changing this cause him to lose the ability to send and receive
email?
Also he left me a note that he is not able to log in under the company acount. When he attempts to log in, he is asked for the "exchange account".
I suspect that this may be more involved than just correcting the misspelling. I appreciate any assistance you may be able to provide.
