Siri name recognition ipad3

I'm trying to get Siri to call me by my name. I created a contact of me and updated the phonetic spelling as well but whenever I ask "Siri call me KC," (or phonetic Casey) she says that she cannot make calls from my device or that she cannot edit contacts. Is there a fix to this?

Anyone run into this?

  • Siri name and relationship problems

I am posting this as a form of bug report. I do not expect any of the regular posters to have a solution but someone at Apple needs to revise the Siri recognition process.
First of all, I have set up a specific contact as my "father", even deleted and reassigned the relationship manually and Siri keeps telling me that it (she?) does not know who my father is. Frustrating to say the least.
What makes it worse is that he is a "junior" and I am a "third".
When I attempt to send a text message to Bob Hathaway Junior, Siri keeps trying to send a text message to me as Bob Hathaway, with the word "Junior" in the body of the text.
I'm a little surprised that the system is stumbling on that kind of naming issue, but there it is.
I hope I don't have to wait TOO long before there's an update to deal with this.

No, that is between you and Siri.

  • I cannot use Siri on my ipad3 - it is not under settings?

I cannot get siri to work on my ipad3. was working prior to upgrading to IOS 6. Not even under the settings heading to allow it to be opened.

Check the Restrictions settings (Settings -> General) and see if perhaps Siri is disabled there.

  • Siri name change

Has anyone had trouble with Siri changing the "My Info" name in Settings for no apparent reason?  It keeps changing itself to my wife's name (also a 4s user) and I have to change it back to my name.

Same problem here. I am married and we want to use the same iCloud accounts to keep in sync.
However, that means one of us, me of course, gets called by my wifes name and I cannot use any of the Siri functions like, "call my spouse" because it thinks my wife is me, so it calls her spouse, which is me.
    Confused yet?
Apple needs to fix this so we can tie a contact record to a device instead of having a "My Info" contact synced across all the devices.

  • How to teach siri names of companies and towns?

    Hello all,
several year ago, sombody asked the same question without any reply. (see here: How can I teach Siri on iPhone 4S to understand names of towns or companies?)
Maybe it's now possible to teach Siri how to pronounce the names of companies and towns. But i have no idea how. I know how to teach the names of a person, but obviously it's not possibile to teach other names.
    Thanks for any help
    Greeting

Ajit, I would choose a different way although your solution is working it will take a lot of time to edit all the buttons. Whenever possible I try to offer timesaving tips. And that means: first see what you can edit in Preferences (for this project alone or for all projects), then look at the Master slides, and only in last instance go into editing of the slides themselves. Hope you don't mind this remark, after all I'm only a user.
@jun jun  This works only if you do it before inserting question slides. Go into Quiz, Preferences, Default Labels. You will find there the labels for the buttons Submit, Submit All, Clear, Back, Next. You have to be aware that the Next button doubles as a Skip button during the Quiz, it is acting as a Next button (and necessary) during Review. More info: Question Question Slides in Captivate - Captivate blog
The advantage of adjusting the Preferences is that this will propagate on the different Quiz Master slides.
For the text 'Accuracy' and other text fields on the score slide, edit the labels on the Master slide for the score.

  • AVCHD User Clip Name Recognition in Prelude

I am shooting on a Panasonic Ag-af100 and I have used the P2 Viewer Plus app to load custom metadata onto the camera. I set a name in the "User Clip Name" field.
I can see this custom name when previewing the AVCHD file in Quicktime Player, but Prelude CS6 reverts to the numbering beginning at 00001.
Is it possible for Prelude to use the customized name field in the transcoding/copying process?

    Hi -
Prelude CS6 does not have support for that type of renaming.
Prelude CC 2014 introduced additional file renaming on ingest options that allow you to specify the starting incremental count. It does yet provide the ability to get this starting value from existing metadata, however (it must be entered by you). That is a good feature request though and we are looking into it.
    Hope this helps!

When you type travelzoo into the search field, does it make any token suggestions such as People or Name, or does it provide no search tokens?

  • TS4079 Siri is not recognizing all of my appointments on my calendar help??

One day she recognized all of my appts the next day not help?

I had the same problem in iOS 7.  Siri name recognition worked for me for awhile then stopped working with Siri saying "I don't see" <name> "in your contacts."  To fix it I went into Settings > General > Restrictions > (entered my passcode) and then I disabled and re-enabled Siri.  That cleared the problem and Siri now recognizes my contacts again.

  • Module Function Name Resolution - Issues with DefaultCommandPrefix

Just getting started on module development, running PS4, and I've run into an... inconsistency... that I'm trying to understand. I've got two test functions, Get-Something and Set-Something in a script module. In my manifest file I specify a DefaultCommandPrefix
    of 'Test'.
My issue is the function name resolution doesn't result in an executable result if you leave PowerShell up to it's own process.
To begin with I closed all sessions and deleted all files in the CommandAnalysis directory. After starting a session I waited for the CommandAnalysis cache to populate. Then I ran a series of test commands to illustrate how, most of the time, the function
name PowerShell registers with tab completion can't be executed because it lacks the 'Test' prefix. Even worse, much of the time tab completion won't recognize the correct (i.e., with prefix) name of the function and honor tab completion for it.
Having just learned of the CommandAnalysis cache I assumed I would see it change as PowerShell 'learned' more about the module because the name resolves differently over time. I've included three files at the end of this post, the module code (ModuleTest.psm1),
the manifest (ModuleTest.psd1) and the capture of output to the PowerShell session (ModuleTest.txt). I've tried to include the times I used <tab> and <ret> for tab completion and execution as well as (comments in parenthesis for things I did like
starting a new session and checking the CommandAnalysis cache for changes).
An example is, when first starting a session typing 'get-som<tab>' will resolve to 'Get-Something' (prefix 'Test' missing) and typing 'get-test<tab>' won't resolve to 'Get-TestSomething'. Try to execute the 'Get-Something' from tab completion
and you'll get the 'name not recognized, blah, blah'.
Now if you type 'get-som<tab>' PowerShell will resolve to 'ModuleTest\Get-Something' - looks promising... but no.  Try to execute the 'ModuleTest\Get-Something' from tab completion and you'll still get the 'name not recognized, blah, blah'.
Even though the same key strokes resolved differently there were no changes made to the CommandAnalysis cache so I'm lost on why it produces two different (though equally useless) results.
Manually importing the module and sometimes running Get-Command -Module ModuleTest will make tab completion of the function names behave correctly. Is this a known issue with using DefaultCommandPrefix in script modules or is there something I need to include
in the manifest to enforce strict name recognition (including the prefix)?

    Hi William,
yes, that's something you'll either have to do the hard way or live with admin confusion.
If you're using Sapien's PowerShell Studio as an Editor (hint: Usually a great idea), you can very easily rename a function, even in a multi-file module project, by rightcklicking on the function-name and selecting "rename".
Alternatively you can do a bulk rename with Powershell:
Get all functions in your module (Load it and check exportedcommands)
    loop over each function-name
    calculate new name
search your entire project for all references and replace them.
    Let me see ...
    function Rename-ModulePrefix
    [CmdletBinding()]
    Param (
    [Parameter(Position = 0, Mandatory = $true)]
    [string]
    $ModuleName,
    [Parameter(Position = 1, Mandatory = $true)]
    [string]
    $OldPrefix,
    [Parameter(Position = 2, Mandatory = $true)]
    [string]
    $NewPrefix,
    [Parameter(Position = 3)]
    [string]
    $Path
    # Catch all typos
    Import-Module $ModuleName -ErrorAction 'Stop'
    # Get root path if not manually passed
    if (-not $PSBoundParameters["Path"])
    $Path = (Get-Module $ModuleName).Path
    # Get module files
    $Files = Get-ChildItem -Path $path -Recurse -Include "*.ps1", "*.psm1", "*.psd1"
    # Iterate over each file
    foreach ($file in $Files)
    # Null variable in case you get an empty file somewhere and run this from Win 7
    $data = $null
    # Get Content of file
    $data = Get-Content $file
    # Replace strings
    foreach ($c in (Get-Module $ModuleName).ExportedCommands)
    $newName = $c.Name -replace $OldPrefix, $NewPrefix
    $data = $data | ForEach-Object { $_ -replace $c.Name, $newName }
    # Write back to file
    $data | Set-Content $file
While I didn't proof it, in theory this should do it (Make a backup before running it :) ).
    Cheers,
    Fred

  • IOS 6 update didn't provide Siri

I have the iphone 4 and just completed the IOS6 update but it didn't provide Siri. Which phones actually receive that feature?

You are with me, and I am sure many more, that have upgraded os twice now, to find out all those cool features, you don't get. And this time you actually lose features, because of Apple's little spat with Google. I for one am pretty sure this will be my last iPhone. Oh look, they changed the adapter AGAIN, last time you thought it would work because it looks the same, but no, the pins are different, so it will only play, not charge your phone in the car, you have to buy a new one.
So if you have a 4, last update you didnt get Siri, Face recognition, etc. only for 4s. but you did get that great Newsstand icon that you cant put in a folder, it just takes up space on that empty desktop tab, thanks.
This patch, more updates to the camera, panoramic, but not for you, only 4s, and above. Turn by turn directions, and flyover, not for you, 4s and above. And that is on the new and improved Apple maps... No APP yet for Google maps, and you also lost the YouTube shortcut, because, well because Google are meanies, so we make it harder for YOU, THE CUSTOMER, to get to the things you love, that they offer. Thanks again Apple.

  • Using 2 Identical SuperDrives with DVDSP in Mac Pro

    Hello-
I recently installed 2 new identical Pioneer 118 Superdrives in my 2006 Mac Pro. In DVDSP, I'm having problems selecting a drive and burning discs. The Burn dialog box allows me to select either drive, but both have identical names. When the top one in the list is selected, sometimes the bottom tray will open; when I try to burn a disc there, it takes a long time for the burn to begin, and sometimes it will hang before finishing. I'm not sure if the Mac is having a tough time figuring out which drive is which because of the identical names.
I have both drives installed correctly, with Cable Select chosen on both. I wonder if there is way, anywhere, to rename the drives, or if this is the problem. The drives both read any kind of disc without problems, and I have burned discs on both, so they do work. I can also create disc images, which I can then burn in disc utility.
It just seems like DVDSP gets confused because the drives are identical. Should I get a different model or brand of drive to replace one, or is there another way to straighten this out?
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

Thanks for the response; I've been trying a few things today, and they seem to be working now. Both drives show up in DVDSP with identical names; when I select the upper name, the lower tray opens, and I can burn the disc. Selecting the lower name results in the upper tray opening, and again I can successfully burn.
In Toast, both names also appear and I can burn to both drives (haven't tried two discs at once, yet), although the names/trays are correctly oriented in Toast.
What I do notice is that these drives (New Pioneer 118s) take an extra minute or so before burning begins (in DVDSP only, so again, this might be a name recognition issue), and are noisier while burning.
I wonder if switching to the master/slave setup would improve anything.
