Siri no longer understands my voice commands.

Since the 6.01 update, Siri is now worthless. It does not understand my voice command. When using Siri to "Call Home" it will pick someone in my address book that has nothing whatsoever to do with my "home". What happened to Siri since the "update"?

Although I posted the problem initially, I figured out what was wrong just a few minutes ago. I thought Siri was automatically turned on. It is not in the new upgrade to 6.1. You need to go to Settings, General, Siri. It needs to be turned "on". Turning it "on" also fixes the problem where the microphone disappeared from both text and email creation screens. Now that it is "on" the microphone reappears in both text and email. It probably should be rewritten to tell the user to turn it on with first use but what it defaults to when not turned on takes a typical "call someone" command and messes it up. Now, all seems fine. Just be sure to go into settings to turn Siri to on.

Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release the buttons...

TS4079 Siri is not working since 7.0 upgrade - if I turn Siri off it works with voice command. Microphone functions with other apps just fine. I have gone through the trouble shooting page and still nothing. I read others are having the same issue.

I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue.

No, on newer Nokia phone you can no longer recorded your own voice tags.
If you are having difficulty with the phone understanding your voice command please try to change the voice playback setting on the phone. Do the following :
Menu -> Settings -> Phone -> Language settings -> Voice playback language
Then select a language that the phone should use for playing back voice commands, you might want to select a language that closely resembles your accent and language.

Siri does't understand me

I have the iPhone 4s and Siri does't understand my voice . I don'T have an accent. I'm in Colorado usa. I tried speaking slowly or with regular speed, with or without background noise, to no avail. The words she thinks I'm saying are random names from my address book that don't sound anything like the actual words I'm saying

Can't hear Voice Command prompt over bluetooth headset

I paired my Jawbone Prime headset with my new iPhone 3GS, and for the first day or so I was able to activate Voice Commands by pressing & holding the "Noise Assassin" button. First the headset would beep, then the Voice Command screen would come up on the iPhone, and when the the phone was ready, I'd hear the Voice Command prompt. Everything was great.
Then, suddenly one afternoon, the headset beeped an extra time, and I no longer hear the Voice Command prompts. I don't hear the initial prompt, or any further prompts such as "home or cell?" or the voice telling me what song is playing.
I have tried pairing/unpairing, resetting the phone and the headset, and every combination thereof.
Has anyone else encountered this or have any suggestions?

I wish I could say that was the problem, but it was not. I keep the phone in vibrate mode all the time, but I took it out to try and increase the volume for notification, but it was up all the way already. FYI - the bluetooth volume is all the way up too.
I sent a message to Motorola last night to see if they have a solution. They already upped it to the next level of support to resolve, so I am hoping to hear something from them soon.

No, it's not normal. You should be able to send and receive from any mail account set up on your device, whether the account is also set up on another device or not. Have you tried sending email from your @me account on your Mini? Does that work properly?
Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try on your Mini:
On Safari and go to www.apple.com to confirm that your connection to the internet is working properly
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Fetch New Data, make sure Push is set to On, tap Advanced at the bottom, tap your @me.com address and make sure Push is checked.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Mail section) and confirm that you have selected your @me.com address as your defalut.

Is there a way to turn on/off 3G for iPhone 4S with a voice command and/or without Siri?

For example, I almost always have 3G turned off on my iPhone 4S so that I won't use any of my cellular data when not needed. However, when I'm driving, and I need to use Maps for directions, it would be nice to unlock the iPhone by voicing my PIN and using a voice command to turn on 3G and accessing Maps.
Is there already a way to do this? I know that accessing applications via Siri will be capable when iOS 6 is released.
Voice Control should also be set to the default voice-command option when Siri is either off or when the iPhone does not currently have access to the internet. Because Siri requires the internet, Voice Control could be used to unlock the iPhone and turn on 3G. Once 3G is turned on, Siri can take over (if Siri is turned on in Settings) to access an application, like Maps. When finished, there should be a voice command that will "turn off 3G."
So, here's how the whole process could work:
1) hold Home button to access Voice Control and respond with PIN to unlock the iPhone - "one, two, three, four" or "twelve, thirty-four" for PIN 1234 (I'm not sure if people would want to say, "one thousand, two-hundred, thirty-four")
2) once unlocked, it should intuitively stay on Voice Control so the user can say "turn on 3G"
3) if Siri is enabled, it will take over Voice Control; if Siri is disabled, Voice Control will remain active, bu you should also have the voice-command option to "turn on Siri" (now that 3G is on)
4) a voice command to "launch Maps" - I know that this will capable with iOS 6
5) when done, hold Home button and voice a command to "turn off 3G" via Siri
Could this feature please be integrated into iOS 6?
In terms of driving and accessing Maps, this would be a lot safer and a lot easier.

Did you enable Siri in settings?
Settings > General > Siri > ON
If Siri is off, all you get when pressing the home button for 1 second is the old Voice Control.

My voice command keeps turning on by itself even when my siri is disabled.

my voice command feature keeps popping up in the middle of anything im doing, even when my siri is disabled. My ipod also plays music randomly and the time on my screen blinks a few times. Has anyone else had any of these problems?

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. The headphone jack can actuate VC.
- Try another pair of headphones, Ones with mic/remote wold be best

i have Fixed the problem, Had to go into dictation and speech preferences and actually shut the dictation microphone off. Once that was done I turned it back on and it automatically began to download new software for the microphone. Once that was done I re-booted my computer and it is now working beautifully.

Is there anyway to get rid of siri and get back the old voice command?

I have found siri to be really useless. The server based approach just isn't ready for prime time. Is there a client based alternative. I am really only concerned with being able to voice dial my phone while using blue tooth in the car. Other aspects of voice would be nice, but siri is just too in accurate.

Apple should take down the voice commands that no longer work - it over sells a product that is, while good, significantly less useful without the commands it claims to support. It has also lead to me wasting time trying to get them working as the Apple site itself says that that should. It wasn't until I Google'd the issue that it came to light these features have been removed after patent issues with Nuance.
