Siri not reading my messages?

I might be going crazy, but I recall that Siri is suppose to read your new messages when you received them and ask her to read it. On my phone if i ask siri to read a new mesages, she respons by saying "You have a new message from "name of the person" and that's it. Then asks if I want to reply or read it again. I say "Read it again" She repeates the same thing again. "You have a new message from "name of the person" then goes on you want to read it again or reply? This is somewhat inconveniant since I was looking forward to this cause i bike alot and don't want to pull over every time so I can respond..

I'm having this problem as well. Last night I was able to listen to the messages when I asked. But only for a little while. Then when I got out of Siri and tried to do it later/today it does the whole, "you have a message from ..." and then is silent, and then says "you can either reply or read again" and when I say read again thinking it will actually read it, it doesn't. what's going on??

  • Siri not reading new messages in iOS 8

    Ever since I have starting using iOS 8, Siri no longer reads my new messages to me.  In my car, with my iPhone 6 connected to my car speaker via Bluetooth, I hear a ping that I have a new text message (or to be more accurate, a new iMessage).  So I ask Siri to read me my new messages, which always used to work.  But now, Siri claims that I have no new messages.  If I look at the phone I can see the new message.
    If I know that the message came from Person X, and I ask Siri to read me my last message from Person X, it will instead read the second-to-last message from Person X until I go to my iPhone and launch the Messages app and read the message.  Then, if I ask Siri to read the last message from Person X, Siri will correctly read the last message.
    I see various people posting similar problems for the last two years, but I haven't seen any solutions.  And yes, I have restarted my iPhone and that doesn't fit.  In fact, I kept my fingers crossed that this would be fixed in iOS 8.1, and then 8.1.1, but no luck.
    -Jeff

    Well, this kinda solves my problem. I seem to recall that it would still suggest words (but only one at a time), whereas now it doesn't. It does offer corrections if I fat-finger something. Us users are never satisfied! ;-)

  • Why does Siri not read my text messages to me?

    Why does my Siri not read my text messages to me?

    If your phone is locked with a passcode and you ask siri to read any new text message, Siri tells you to unlock it first, which you do by entering the passcode and the moment you do that Siri says 'OK' and starts reading your message without you doing anything else.
    However if you have not set the passcode in your phone and if your phone is locked (which means you have yet not done 'slide to unlock') and you ask siri to read the message then you will hear nothing..there will be silence ..and then 'siri will ask you to reply or read it again'. If you want to hear the message then first slide to unlock your phone and then ask siri to read for any new text messages and you will start hearing your message.
    Let me know if this does not work.

  • Siri will not read my messages

    Since the last update, Siri no longer recognises that I have a new messages when I ask it to read my messages.  It now says "you have no messages". Previously it would read the message back to me and ask for a reply.  Any pointers?

    i talked to Apple tech support and we figured out it was in the phrasing. The command is ""Siri read me my text message"

  • Does any one know EXACTLY how to get siri to READ text messages out loud ?

    How do I get siri to READ my text messages ? What do I "say " to siri ?

    Just reading through this post and the best way to Reset SIRI is to go to Settings>General>Siri and then turn SIRI off. This erase's anything SIRI has learn't about you, all you have to do then is turn SIRI back on and it is reset. It is not necessary to reset the iPhone itself.
    SIRI can only read back unread Txt messages, if you have opened a Txt message and already read it you can not have SIRI read it back to you. Don't forget SIRI is still in BETA and will take a little while while Apple tweek this technology.
    Cheers.

  • Siri can not read text messages

    When asked to "read my texts" Siri will respond with something to the tune of "new text message from ....." then it goes quiet for bit until saying, "would you like to reply or should I read it again". This happens while in my car connected to Bluetooth. I have a Toyota Tacoma.
    Since being able to verbally communicate by text while driving was meant to be one of Siri's killer features, I expected this to work.
    Any ideas?

    You should mark this as solved so that everyone will not look at it and can concentrate on other questions that still need help.

  • Siri Not Reading Back Texts...

    With iOS 6, I could dictate a message to Siri while holding my iPhone to my ear.  With iOS 7, Siri just asks, "ready to send it?"  I can't figure out if this is no longer a feature (which would not be helpful!) or if there is a new setting I need to enable.
    Any ideas?

    I am having the same issue and it is very annoying.
    I used to be able to send texts by telling Siri "send text to xxx I'm on my way home." Siri would then read the text she wrote and asked if I am ready to send. Now all I get is a beep-beep after giving the command. I have to look at the screen to review the text. If I tell Siri "review" she gives me a list of available commands, including review, but doesn't understand review.
    What is the point of handsfree assistance like this if you have to pick up the phone and look at the screen? iOS 6 worked much better for this. You took a step back Apple.
    To make it more frustrating, if I simply dictate text to Siri it understands "review" and types it perfectly, but will not recognize review when editing texts as notes above.

  • Firefox can not read Hotmail messages and some other program input fields (Hotmail OK if add-ons disbled)

    Yesterday Hotmail was fine under Firefoax, today messages cannot be opened, cannot access bank account customer number, cannot enter text into comments section in newspaper. Can access Hotmail and newspaper comments on Opera. But I can access Hotmail on Firefox if I start up with add-ons disabled option, but when disable all add-ons individually on Firefox normal access, it's back to not working again. Have also gone back 4 updates on Windows Vista Home Basic and disabled the excellent Rapport bank security. Tried to disable Foxit reader previously (as older posts advised) and no difference. Any ideas ?, In the meantime will keep Opera open for Hotmail and try access bank tomorrow. Thanks all.

    Thanks Jcher2000 and cor-el for your suggestions, I think have solved the mystery, Firefox add-ons were all ok, but EXTENSIONS contained a program called Price-Peep which has caused the problem. Solved by elimination;
    Shut down ALL Add-ons AND extensions, Hotmail worked, re-introduced all Add-ONs, one at a time, all worked OK, then did the same with extensions, worked down the list and, at the second to last (how unusual), Hotmail stopped working with Pricepeep enabled, then restarted with it Ppee disabled, checked the last program and all still working in Hotmail. I have just looked at the Pricepeep site and I think it was added when I took delivery of a spare webcam which didn't have software so downloaded software from the web (cannot check back site as have cleared all history caches in sorting this mes) so ise people NOT to agree to download this crap. Just emailed the idiots )© 2012 Verti Technology Group). Now, how do I report this to Mozilla and Hotmail ?... Thanks folks, from a very pissed off person in France...Colin.

  • How to not "read" Junk Messages In Lion Mail?

    In the new setup in Lion Mail, the left column now has the subject line and first couple lines of the message.
    To create any kind of action with the message, I have to select it.  It then appears on the right and is seen as opened mail.
    For most messages, this is okay, but for junk mailing (foreign entitities wanting money etc.), I don't want to open it but I do want to delete it.
    Does anyone know how I can delete without "selecting" the message and automatically opening it or do I just have to use the alternate older view of Mail that is provided?

    I second this... Some emails I don't want to see at all. (i.e. Prince SoNSo has left me a gazillion dollars, all I have to do is reply...) Is there and edit button in the new mail as similar to the one used on portables?

  • New Email notification only looks unread for about 3 minutes even if I have not read the message

    I have just started using Microsft Outlook to use my yahoo account. Both of those services show a new message as unread indefinitely but for some reason, my 8310 only shows the new email as new for about 3 minutes.
    In the BB Mail-Options General options - I have the Display Message count as Unread, and the Display New Message INdicator as Yes, and under the Email Reconciliation it reads On. It used to work fine but all of the sudden something has changed.
    Does anyone have any tips on this issue? I would hate to miss an important new message when I am traveling.

    Take it to apple store and don't replace it with the new one my son had the same problem he was in there about 10 minutes and walked out with a new phone

  • Readline() function is not reading the message sent

    Hi I developed a small socket server to receive GPS positions over IP. the system is very simple it listen to a port using the following syntax
    Server.this.socket = Server.this.ssocket.accept();
    and when a client is connected a new thread will be created using the following syntax
    try {
    Server.this.clientThread = new ClientThread(Server.this.socket);
    Thread t = new Thread(Server.this.clientThread);
    Server.this.clientThread.addObserver(Server.this);
    Server.this.clients.addElement(Server.this.clientThread);
    System.out.println("System reading the process 4");
    t.start();
    } catch (IOException ioe) {
    System.out.println("Thread Error");
    try{
    System.out.println("Start reading the buffer ");
    in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(Server.this.socket.getInputStream()));
    out = new PrintWriter(Server.this.socket.getOutputStream(), true);
    } catch (IOException e) {
    System.out.println(e);
    System.exit(-1);
    line = in.readLine();
    Normally when I run it in a lan environment the system is well functionning and I recieve the data properly. but when I upload it to the hosting server the software is blocked on the level of
    line = in.readLine();
    and stop execution after that line and if I disconnect the client software that I am using for testing the software will crash.

    thank you for your response in fact I surely made some research while developping and had a lo of code and sample that I combined together. In my question I added small part of the code. In Fact the exceptions for readline can be througn be on level "WriteLog("Thread Error "+ioe);"
    In fact this program function very good in local environment. it seems the program is crashing on the level of readline() but nothing is writen on the log file.
    in our lan environment I can send messages from several stations in the same time and insert them in the database properly.

  • Siri stopped reading messages...

    Anybody else got this? iOS 8.0 came out and for a brief period I could say 'Hey, Siri' (pause) 'Read Last Message' whilst driving, absolutely brilliant, it meant I didn't have to try to catch it when I heard it come in.
    Now it just tells me 'You have no new messages' even though I know I just gone one.

    argh, should say iOS 8.1 on my installed version, 8.0.2 is when it started happening. Persists with 8.1.

  • Mail not can read some messages.

    I use Mail (3.6) and after do the 10.5.8 upgrade I can not read some messages (the message appears in white), but I can read the same message with Entourage for example...
    I have the same problem with Safari... some sites appears now in white and I cannot read them...
    Before, with the 10.5.7, always work perfect.
    You can help me?
    Thanks!

    Hiya Trebla07,
    have you had a look at mail/preferences/fonts & colours? When you click on the e.g. "mailbox font / Select...", you find tabs for "document colour"; tried changing that?
    Anything in there that could change the colour of the font?
    As I suspect it is merely a white font on a white screen background, which would, of course, be illegible.
    In Safari, it would be preferences/appearance.
    Although it's peculiar that this occured after the 10.5.8 update, but apart from a corrupt font/preference, I would not know what would cause this.
    NB: I just went to elperiodico and it looks fine in Safari. What is the "default encoding" (also found in preferences/appearance)?

  • ESB not reading message from AQ

    I have a simple ESB process which reads the data from an AQ and based on the routing rule invokes recpective end points. I have the AQ database details in the ESB wsdl. But the ESB when deployed is not reading the message from the AQ.
    Has anyone else faced this issue before? The ESB env has MLR#2 patch.
    Thanks in advance
    Rakesh

    We are using JMSAdapter to read the message from the AQ
    We modified the code and made the ESB wsdl look like
    <jca:operation
    DestinationName="java:comp/resource/TEST/Queues/ADMIN.TEST_QUEUE"
    UseMessageListener="false"
    PayloadType="TextMessage"
    ActivationSpec="oracle.tip.adapter.jms.inbound.JmsConsumeActivationSpec"
    OpaqueSchema="true" >
    </jca:operation>
    <jca:address location="eis/Jms/DBAQ" />
    and in J2EE_HOME/config/application.xml
    <resource-provider class="oracle.jms.OjmsContext" name="TEST">
    <description>Resource provider for the OEMS database</description>
    <property name="datasource" value="aqDS" />
    </resource-provider>
    and have defined the aqDS in the data-sources.xml to point to the AQ database.
    We are using JMSAdapter to read the message from the AQ and we have defined the connection factory in the oc4j-ra.xml of the JMSAdapter
    <connector-factory location="eis/Jms/DBAQ" connector-name="Jms Adapter">
    <config-property name="connectionFactoryLocation" value="java:comp/resource/TEST/QueueConnectionFactories/QCF"/>
    <config-property name="factoryProperties" value=""/>
    <config-property name="acknowledgeMode" value="AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE"/>
    <config-property name="isTopic" value="false"/>
    <config-property name="isTransacted" value="false"/>
    <config-property name="username" value="ADMIN"/>
    <config-property name="password" value="password"/>
    <connection-pooling use="none">
    </connection-pooling>
    <security-config use="none">
    </security-config>
    </connector-factory>
    and the connection factory QCF is deployed on the OAS.
    Still the JMS Adapter on the ESB is not picking up the date.
    Thanks
