Siri on iOS 6 lets me post to FB from lock screen

From the lock screen (password protected phone), I am able to post to FB by asking Siri to open "Facebook" and either speak or type my message (The phone is locked, all the while).
So, could someone not abuse my FB by posting even when my phone is locked ?

Is anyone aware of this?? From the lockscreen, with iOS 8, even if you have a passcode, someone can pick up your phone and say to Siri "Listen to voicemail" and it will play voicemails on the speaker! This seems like a HUGE oversight.
Why are you leaving your phone where untrustworthy people can pick it up? My debit card requires a pin but I still wouldn't leave it where it could be picked up as there are still things that can be done with it.
Of course this can be turned off by denying access to Siri from the lockscreen all together, but that eliminates a lot of other things too that are convenient.
There is always a trade off between security and convenience. Apple gives you the option to have the security you're asking for. Until such time as they change the system, you'll need to decide which is more important to you, security or convenience.

  • IOS 8.0.2 camera not available from lock screen

iPhone 6, upgraded to iOS 8.0.2 last night. Now at the lock screen, the camera icon is there but you cannot scroll up to activate it.

It works for me with iOS 8.0.2.
As this shows (from the iPhone User Manual), you could also use Control Center.

  • Can't pause music from lock screen in iOS 6?

I have my iPhone 4s set up with a passcode.  In iOS 5 I could pause and resume music and podcasts without having to unlock the phone with my passcode.  I no longer have that ability in iOS 6.  If I have a song or podcast playing the phone will Auto-Lock after a minute, and to pause playback I have to slide the slider and then enter my passcode to make the controls visible.
I've done a fair number of searches to determine whether this can be controlled with a setting but haven't been able to find any answers. Am I missing a setting somewhere, or did Apple remove this functionality?
    Thanks.

PS:  I wasn't planning on upgrading to iOS 6 any time soon, but I dropped my 11-month-old iPhone 4s a week ago during our first trip to New York.  Smashed the front glass (couldn't find my bumper before we left).  Out-of-warranty, no Apple Care.  It turns out we were only a few blocks away from the upper west side Apple store.  They replaced the shattered phone with a "new" one for $200 (plus $50 for Applecare and $30 for a case), but ended up with a phone running iOS 6.  So now there's this lock screen control issue, plus the map issues (which weren't too bad).  On the bright side, I made a lot of use of the Panorama photo feature on our trip.  And I was happy we were able to get a replacement within an hour, even though it cost $200+.

Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner!  Thanks so much Steve A.  Double tapping the Home button does toggle the player controls on and off from the lock screen.
I was hoping it would be something simple like that.
Just wondering, is that functionality explained somewhere?  As I wrote in my first post I did several searches to come up with a fix or explanation for this issue.
    Cheers.

  • Using IOS 5, but no camera from lock-screen or Week view in Calendar, as promised. What can I do?

Using IOS 5, but no camera from lock-screen or Week view in Calendar, as promised. What can I do?

Thanks. I don't know if it seems obvious to everyone, but it shouldn't be needed to double click to seet it. If anyone finds out why there isn't a week view in the Calendar native app, or a way to make it avaiable I would be thankfull. If not, I will continue using third party app for that purpose.

You don't have to purchase it again, but you do have to download it.  See Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519

  • IOS 5 - Notification are not showing in the lock screen knowing that the option view in lock screen is active ?

    Hi ,
After Upgade my  iphone4 to ios 5 ,  Notifications are not showing in the lock screen knowing that the option view in lock screen is active ?
    Regards
    HM

I experience this also sometimes (whatsapp), is this a bug??
sometimes when a person writes 2-3 messages in a row (for instance) in whatsapp (im in standby mode), it sometimes only displayes ONE message in lock screen mode (though he/she wrote more than 1), and sometimes shows the right corresponding written messages!
    Why is this?
its really annoyoing when you get messages in lock screen mode BUT it doesnt stay and remain so you notice it. That way you get missed messages etc and notices it first...when doing the "pull-down list".

Press the home button once to wake the phone into lock mode.  Then press it twice while in lock screen and you will see camera button to right of slide.

  • Difficulty answering iPhone 5 with iOS 7 from lock screen

With iOS 7, when I try to answer the phone from lock screen, the slide to answer green bar is less responsive than answering phone in previous versions of iOS and it also takes awhile for other party to hear you. Several persons tell me the same. Using an iPhone 5. Can anyone help me out on this? Is it a generalized problem that Apple should address?

No, we have to wait till Apple fixes this problem.
For the Slide to reply bar: Turn on "Reply with message" in your passcode settings you that you will have a button to answer a call instead of a slider. (Will also enable Messaging from the lock screen)

  • Issues Control Center from lock screen in iOS 8

Since getting my iPhone 5S, and iOS 8, there were a couple of times I couldn’t access my camera from my lock screen. I didn’t think anything of it at first — I just brushed it off as carelessness — but then it happened a few more times this weekend. Not only could I not access the Camera, I couldn’t access Control Center either. I would swipe up on my screen, but nothing would happen. I tried multiple times. Nothing. Eventually, hours later, it would work, but I couldn’t figure out why it was only working intermittently.

There's only a couple things left you can do. One would be to do a restore, the other would be to have the hardware checked at an Apple store or Authorized Apple iPhone Service Provider.

  • Hide/Show Today View from Lock Screen in iOS 8

In iOS 7 I had customized for the Today View not to show from the lock screen. In iOS 7 the Setting was simple, Go to Settings > Notification Center > Turn Off "Today View" for the lock screen.
I updated to iOS 8 & the Today view is much more useful now so I want to bring it back on the lock screen but I can not! Going to Settings > Notifications, only shows the notifications but not a way to toggle on/off Today view.
WHERE CAN I CHOOSE TO HIDE/SHOW THE TODAY VIEW FROM THE LOCK SCREEN IN IOS 8?

    Hi there original_p,
It looks like this setting has moved. Take a look at the User Guide for more information.
    Notification Center - iPhone
Choose whether to show Today and Notifications View on a locked screen. Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode (iPhone models with Touch ID) or Settings > Passcode (other models), then choose whether to allow access when locked.

Did you check Settings>Control Center>Access on Lock Screen and make sure it's set to ON?

  • [Unsolved] iOS 8 Exchange Emails read on other devices do not clear out from Lock Screen

Creating this thread again since the last one got marked 'solved' automatically although no solution was found.
My Google Apps (Exchange) emails on the lock screen are not disappearing when I read them on other devices (eg. my iPad or Mac). On iOS 7 this used to work very consistently for me, that is, when I received an email on 3 devices and read it on one of them, the email would instantly be marked as read on the other devices and the notifications would be cleared out.
Furthermore, if I slide the notification of a read email on the lock screen and delete it, it has no effect on the server. So this is certainly a bug.
PS: Also tried Push email notifications with iCloud mail, same problem. For iCloud, even the icon badge count is not updated.

Nope.  Mine is an iPhone 5 that has Exchange, Gmail and Hotmail accounts on it.  All three email clients worked perfectly on iOS 6 and 7 in terms of appearing on and disappearing from the lock screen, but my experience with iOS 8 has been horrible.  As to this issue in particular, not only are items not disappearing from the lock screen, but even when I changed the setting to show only 1 message on the lock screen (just so I would know if I have any new email), every email I get nevertheless still appears on the lock screen ?!?!  I agree with t87 that iOS has been a regression and, to my mind, a big one at that (not just limited to this issue).  The mantra of "it just works" does not hold true, at least in my experience.

  • Posting a notice on lock screen

How can I post a statement or notice on the lock screen of my iPhone 6?

The simplest way is to write a note in the Notes app and then take a screenshot, by pressing Home button and On/Off button together.  Then go to photos and make that photo your lock screen wallpaper.  If you want something more sophisticated, there are apps available in the App Store which do this.  abcNotes is one.
