Siri on Iphone 5 only works with headphones

I have an iPhone 5 64 gig gsm, factory unlocked phone. Siri only works with headphones or when you use raise to speak. When I attempt to use it without it doesn't seem to hear me. I read a few threads on the subject and it seems this is a known issue. Most of the time the threads end when someone finds a solution without the solution being disclosed. Apps like Soundhound and Shazam seem to work fine so it appears the issue is software related. I have notice Apple texting does not work with the mic either. This is a very strange problem and I would appreciate any help you can give me as my iPhone is no longer in warranty.

Thanks for the question. It sounds like you may have a hardware issue with one of your microphones on the iPhone (three in total). To help isolate the issue to software or hardware, it may be best to back up and restore your iPhone to factory settings. However, before doing so let's first try a simple restart/reset of your device:

After erasing and setting up as a new device, your device is now in a factory configuration. Test to determine if erasing and setting up as a new device resolved the issue. Content on the device may have caused unexpected behavior.

Speaker not working only works with headphone dock

I bought iphone 4 in Apr , fisrt its started rebootong every 5 min so I got a replacement , now after a month of use its speaker stop giving output without earphone dock , can anyone help me wihth this problem or again I need to get it replaced , Its really frustrating & surprising with the such big brand like Apple, next time I will think twice to upgrade or buy apple product

I know it sounds strange, but it's possible that your headphone jack is jammed.
There's a small sensor within the headphone jack that tells the iPhone that there are headphones plugged in. It's been a long-running issue with iPhones that sometimes it gets... uh... stuck.
When it gets stuck, the phone keeps thinking you have headphones plugged in, and keeps routing the sound there, instead of to the speakers.
The Apple Store recommendation is to plug your headphones in, and then remove them... do it a few times to make sure.
Give it a try... let me know how it turns out.
(If that doesn't work... off to the Apple Store!)

Why the update 10.6.7 kills my audio, only works with headphones...!!!

Yesterday i've installed the 10.6.7 update of Mac Osx and my audio has gone. The only way that i can hear a thing it's with headphones...

Is there a red light in your headphone port? There is a little switch in there that sometimes gets stuck. Try plugging your headphones, or some different headphones in under it clears up.

If you deleted files from the operating system, you wrecked your installation and the first thing you need to do is either restore those files from a backup or reinstall the OS. Doing that is never the solution to any problem. Back up all data before making any changes.

My iPhone only works with headset/speakerphone, cannot hear calls otherwise

Everything I try and make a call I have to use the headset or speakerphone. Otherwise it won't work. Is there anything I can do?

After pulling my hair out with the same issue (could only use Iphone 4S on speakerphone or no one could hear me or vice versa) I disabled Siri rebooted phone, made a successful call without speakerphone and then re-enabled Siri. So far so good keeping fingers crossed. Shame on you Apple for letting this problem persist!

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

Audio Only Works With Headphones

So here is a weird one, when I'm in a video or audio chat, I can only hear the other person if I"m wearing headphones. I can hear everything right up until the chat begins even the vwoom sound as the other person accepts the invitation. If I put my ear next to the "right" internal speaker, I can barely hear someone talking but as soon I plug my head phones in I can hear perfectly. What's the story here?

I would try the "Run the Combo" Trick.
Download and Install the Combo version of 10.5.6 over the top of what you have.
This often correct issues like this that are hard to find.
If this does not work I would then delete com.apple.ichat.plist
This holds the camera and Mic info and the volume settings (But normally the Speech volume of the Alerts in iChat Preferences > Alerts)
However deleting this is fairly destructive as things go for iChat.
You lose any setting you have made in the Preferences :- Font choice, Font Colour, Balloon/Text IM background colour, Saved Transripts, tabbed Chats, Alerts you have set other than defaults, Menu Bar Icon (it's sub sections about Logging off fully on Quit and changing to Available on Launch)
You also Lose Saved Status Messages.
I would use this as a Last Resort.

Cannot get internal speakers to work. Only works with headphones or external speakers?????

All of a sudden my MacBook Pro internal speakers are not working. The status bar at the top of the screen shows everything bold and in black print but now the speaker volume symbol shows just the gray color and will not allow me to adjust the volume. However, when I plug in headphones or external speakers the symbol becomes bold and black the way it should and everything works just fine??? How do I correct this?

Why Does the camera on the iPhone only work with linkedin

Since i got my new iphone 4s the camera wouldn't work. The carrier checked the phone and said they would change the device, but i'm still waiting...
Turns out that i recently tried updating my linkedin picture from the iphone and to my surprise the camera worked!
So it must be a software malfunction. Does Apple already know this and is there a workaround so i can finally use the camera?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Has any of this been tried?

IdeaCentre B540 Audio only works with headphones

Hi,
My sounds has been working fine on my IdeaCentre B540 for the past few months. One day the sound stopped working on my speakers. It still works on my headphones though, can someone please help?
I'm using Windows 8, and according to the sound options on my control panel my sound device is up to date, the high definition audio device is the default device and its coming up that its working fine?
I'm not really sure what else to do!

IPod audio only works with headphones

Anybody know how to fix?

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

SBH 52 Microphone only working with headphones attached

Hi All,
One of the main reasons I got the SBH52 is so I can use it as a headset, however, recently the microphone stopped working unless I have a headphone connected or I use the SBH52 speaker instead of headset. Is anyone facing the same issue, or anyone managed to resolve it ??

Airplay from ipad/iphone only works with offline content

Hi guys
Strangely, my atv3 will only stream, from my ipad, downloaded YouTube files. If I want to stream some live online content (I.e you tube clip), then there is an "error occurred loading this content".
Any ideas?
