Siri 'Raise to Speak' not working with iPhone 5S

Didn't work, did a restore, still doesn't work. The basic 'raise to face' function is working since my phone goes dark when I'm talking with it.
Guess the first question would be 'Is it working for anyone with a 5S'.
If it is I guess a trip to the Genius Bar is in order.

Apple has not made any statements about why they removed that feature. Speculation is prohibited. However, the fact that there is a new feature that allows you to raise the phone to make a recording in iMessages may be related.

  • "Raise to Speak" not working on iPhone 4s

I got my Iphone 4s today. Everything works fine except for the "Raise to Speak" feature. I have it turned on in the Siri settings but there is nothing that I can do to get Siri to start when I raise the phone to my ear. Really frustrating. I have been on the phone with Apple's support and so far nothing that they proposed worked. We tried rebooting the phone, turning the phoe off and on again, and turning the raise to speak setting on and off.  Anybody having the same problem?

I think I got it to work fine now. Everything depends on the kind of moviment you do to raise your phone to your ear. If you have your arm straight down and move the phone to your ear it does not work. It works with shorter moviments. I hold the phone in front of me as if I am reading the screen with my arm bended in 90 degrees. I bring the phone to the ear and it works like a sharm every time.
How did I founf that out? I went to the Apple store and I was able to see that everybody was having dificulty with using the feature. We tried several phones and it seemed to work randomly. After spending a lot of time behaving like an idiot moving the phone up and down thousands of times  I sat down and it started to work much better. That was when I realized that it was working better because I was not moving the phone from all the way down but from much closer to my chest.
Now some important information. First, the raise to speak feature works from any screen that is on, even from active application screens. For example, when reading a message, I raised the phone to my ear and it worked fine.  At the apple store, some of the apple advisors thought that it would only work if you were already in the Siri screen, which is not true.
Second, I have to say that I actually got my phone replaced just in case it was a hardware issue. However, I tried the new phone still using the long moviments and the raise to speak feature would not work. I changed to the short moviment I described before and everything worked fine. I am convinced that it is not a hardware problem.
I hope this helps. Enjoy your new Iphone 4s.

  • Siri - Raise to speak not working

I recently upgraded to iOS 7.0.3 after which raise to speak in Siri is not working. Please help

    Hi satish12,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Here are a couple of things to try to address this issue:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If that does not resolve the issue, refer to page 146 in the iPhone User Guide to Reset All Settings:

  • "raise to speak" not working on iPhone 6

My son was very upset when he discovered that the "raise to speak" feature no long works on iPhone 6 or if you updated your iOS to 8. The issue seems to be that Siri comes through only on speaker and not the phone so there is no privacy when using Siri.
Can you tell me whether you know or have information that Apple will restore the "raise to speak" functionality in an iOS update? It really doesn't make sense that they took it out.

  • Appletv remote app and airplay not working with iphone 4S

I have the latest appleTV.  I have the remote app loaded onto my ipad3 and iphone 4S.  The app is not working with iphone 4S, nor do I get the airplay icon, hence I can't mirrior my phone on appleTV.  It used to work.  I have deleted and reloaded the app, and still nothing.  It worked fined until a month ago or so.  I have enabled home sharing.
The app and airlplay are working just fine with the ipad3.  I have the ipad and appleTV hooked up to my router using 5Ghz, and the iphone only connects to the 2Ghz network on the same router.  I don't think this is the issue, because it worked before.
Also, when I click on the remote app on the iphone, to add an itunes library, a code pops up on the phone, which I enter into itunes on my Win7 PC.  Nothing seems happed on the computer when I enter the code.  Could this have anything to do with recent appleTV or itunes updates?  Any possible solutions?

It seems like I am having the same problem.
I have the latest AppleTV 1080, imac 27", ipad, ipad2, 2 iphone 4, all with the latest iOS. After I have the AppleTV connected, a few problems showed up:
    (1) ipad plus iphones cannot airplay photo to AppleTV. After the play button and the grey screen displayed "the playing msg on AppleTV", nothing happened. it is the same for ipad/iphone.
    (2) iMac not Airplay to AppleTV
    (3) Airplay Mirroring not working
    The following are done:
    - Home sharing enabled
    - To test the devices are connected. I set a passowrd for Airplay and the ipad/iphone both requested for it so they are network and devices are ok

  • $80 Apple in-ear headphones not working with iPhone 4

I spent $80 on a pair of in ear headphones and they do not work with iPhone 4. I can listen to music and talk but the volume controls are completely nonfunctional. So I used them on my friends 3GS and they work fine. How can Apple come out with a new phone that wont work with their own products? I used to love Apple until this F@#$ing iPhone 4 came out.

According to Apple, they should work with the 4... http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA850G/A?fnode=MTY1NDA1MA&mco=MTM3NTM0Mjg
Are they plugged in to your iPhone all the way?

AirPlay does not work with iPhone 4 s or iPad.Remote doesn´t work as well.
WLAN is working, I can use Youtube on my AppleTV, but I can´t connect to my computer or use airplay on my iPhone or iPad.

Something is not configured correctly that is creating issues with your AppleTV.  You can disconnect it from the TV and power, and then plug it into your computer with a micro-USB cable.  After launching iTunes on your computer, you will be able to restore it to default settings and upgrade the software.

  • Griffin RoadTrip not working with iPhone 3G any more

    Hi,
my Griffin RoadTrip is not working any more with my iPhone 3G.
Always message that this accessory is not compatible with iPhone, but before, it worked and now it doesn't any more.
(On Griffin case, it's mentioned that the accessory is designed for iPhone 3G)
    any tricks for this?
    Thx

Mine was working fine for about 6 months.  Then, I started getting a "not compatible message."  I called Griffin and they suggested a soft reset of the iphone 4s.  The message went away but now the FM transmitter is not transmitting.  Griffin sent me a brand new one (free) but the FM transmitter still does not work.  That tells me that the iphone changed -- probably after an update.

  • Corporate Email does not work with iPhone

I'm not a tech wiz so my apologies if this is very elementary. My IT guy said the iPhones will not work with MS Exchange on our server. We currently support Blackberry and Windows Mobile devices such as the Q, Treos, Blackjack. He did mention that my email could work through the POP server, but it wasn't secure. I've tried setting up the POP email to pull my corporate email, but keep getting the Authentication Failure message. Any suggestions on what to try?

If Windows mobile devices can connect using ActiveSync, then your iPhone should be able to connect the same way.
I used a HTC TytnII to sync my mail, calendar et contacts. I got the iphone and entered the exact same informations (server IP adress, user name and login) and it just worked.
You need however to know the exact capitalization of your email adress, as described in your MS Exchange server. To know that, create a message in outlook, enter your name in the "to" field and double-click on your name. In the information box, you should have numerous tabs, and the last one gives you the capitalization (in the "SMTP" field).
    Good luck

  • Preinstall Conection 4 Ipod On Nissan Versa SL, Not work with IPhone, Why?

I bought a Nissan Versa SL, fully equiped, which comes integraded the conection cable for Ipod (which has a label to keep with the lates update).
Months later I bought an IPhone (On my understanding it is IPod and Phone in one), I plug it in my car and the system does not recognise the Iphone, It does not charge the batterie of the phone either, It does not want to play the music.
Is there anything I can do, or any explanation about this situation, why does not work?
(Of course i have to come back to the dealership looking for answers, but in the mean time), if someone has any answer or comment about it, will be gladdly appreciated.

Most auto charging systems use the FireWire pins of the dock connector to deliver power (cheaper for them, since FW can take the full 12 V of the car electrical system, whereas USB charging requires a step down to 5 V). Apple has phased out support for FireWire charging of devices. The iPhone 3G, the 2nd gen iPod Touch, and the 4th gen nano cannot use the FireWire pins for power.
The only option (unless Nissan will modify the system for you) is a power converting dongle, like one of these:

  • New MacBook Pro not working with iPhone remote

    Hi all,
I absolutely cannot get the iPhone remote app to work with itunes for whatever reason!
it's driving me crazy never had any issues on my old macbook, its defo on the same wifi, i can ping it etc, I'm faily handy with OSX and the like as i'm a software developer, so I know it's not a firewall issue and the phone is on wifi.
it just doesn't pop up to let me enter the code in iTunes under devices when I'm trying to register the Phone with the machine,
for the record the phone has been synced with the itunes library in question and I have clicked the forget all remotes button in iTunes prefs, and the 'look for iphone remotes' box is checked
so I've pretty much done everything bar uninstall itunes, is that really necessary? is it worth deleting the itunes prefs file??
    Thanks for any advice,
    Cheers,
    John

Have you tried wiping the remote app from the iphone and starting over ?
