Siri 'Raise to Speak' not working with iPhone 5S

Didn't work, did a restore, still doesn't work. The basic 'raise to face' function is working since my phone goes dark when I'm talking with it.
Guess the first question would be 'Is it working for anyone with a 5S'.
If it is I guess a trip to the Genius Bar is in order.

"Raise to Speak" not working on iPhone 4s

I got my Iphone 4s today. Everything works fine except for the "Raise to Speak" feature. I have it turned on in the Siri settings but there is nothing that I can do to get Siri to start when I raise the phone to my ear. Really frustrating. I have been on the phone with Apple's support and so far nothing that they proposed worked. We tried rebooting the phone, turning the phoe off and on again, and turning the raise to speak setting on and off. Anybody having the same problem?

I think I got it to work fine now. Everything depends on the kind of moviment you do to raise your phone to your ear. If you have your arm straight down and move the phone to your ear it does not work. It works with shorter moviments. I hold the phone in front of me as if I am reading the screen with my arm bended in 90 degrees. I bring the phone to the ear and it works like a sharm every time.
How did I founf that out? I went to the Apple store and I was able to see that everybody was having dificulty with using the feature. We tried several phones and it seemed to work randomly. After spending a lot of time behaving like an idiot moving the phone up and down thousands of times I sat down and it started to work much better. That was when I realized that it was working better because I was not moving the phone from all the way down but from much closer to my chest.
Now some important information. First, the raise to speak feature works from any screen that is on, even from active application screens. For example, when reading a message, I raised the phone to my ear and it worked fine. At the apple store, some of the apple advisors thought that it would only work if you were already in the Siri screen, which is not true.
Second, I have to say that I actually got my phone replaced just in case it was a hardware issue. However, I tried the new phone still using the long moviments and the raise to speak feature would not work. I changed to the short moviment I described before and everything worked fine. I am convinced that it is not a hardware problem.

My son was very upset when he discovered that the "raise to speak" feature no long works on iPhone 6 or if you updated your iOS to 8. The issue seems to be that Siri comes through only on speaker and not the phone so there is no privacy when using Siri.
Can you tell me whether you know or have information that Apple will restore the "raise to speak" functionality in an iOS update? It really doesn't make sense that they took it out.

[BUG] iOS 6 - BATTERY DRAIN : SIRI Raise to Speak/Proximity Sensor Always On/Flashing When Screen Active

Bug: Raise to Speak sensor for Siri remains on whenever the screen is active - regardless of Siri Raise to Speak Setting (enabled or disabled).
After updating to iOS 6 (via iTunes - not OTA), I noticed that my battery was taking quite a bit of a hit. Granted I was checking out the new features but aside from a very short call, nothing major in the way of activity.
I had also noticed that Siri sounded quite a bit different with iOS 6 (10A403) than with 5.1.1 (9B206). Not only did the Siri Voice change but also the responses vary between the two iOS versions.

Here's the weather for Juneau, AK through Monday (note: Siri does not say "Alaska", instead Siri says 'A-Kay'
With iOS 6, Siri sounds more robotic. After looking at speech rate settings and comparing between the two versions, I could find nothing different. I decided to post a video and this is where the Siri bug became interesting and tied into the battery drain with iOS 6.
Remember with 5.0.1 we saw a hit on battery drain and one of the fixes was a fix to the proximity sensor (http://hottipscentral.com/could-siri-be-hurting-iphone-4s-battery-this-little-li ght-might-mean-something/). Well, it appears this bug is back in iOS 6. When I went to do the video, I noticed that my 4s had a flashing light near the earpiece. It remained on continuously. The only time it would stop flashing was when the phone was locked and the screen inactive. As soon as I hit the lock button to bring the phone out of lock, the sensor would begin to flash again.
Give it a shot, hold up your iPhone to a webcam and see if your result is the same.

I dont believe so Amy. Phone has not sustained any damaging drops nor any liquid spills. Was not an issue before but I figured I'd post as I believe this is a definite bug. I neglected to mention that I have my wife's 4s (5.0.1 build) which I am using as a comparison.
Based on the issues folks are reporting with the ambient light sensor, its either the proximity or the ambient light sensor causing the drain. I've turned auto brightness AND raise to speak both off and the sensor continues to flash as I described in my opening post.
If others can confirm, this will definitely need to be looked at by Apple and fixed.

Thing is, when you turn Raise To Speak feature off, and use your webcam (no IR filter) to verify if it turned infrared proximity sensor off, results that it didn't. Since iOS 5 this bug has been present, power cycling, or doing a soft reset solves this issue but this solution does not apply in iOS 6. Don't have an idea on how hard it is on battery draining, but it makes no sense that this sensor stays on forever even when you turn this feature off. Unless it has to do with constantly display brightness adjust feature that we have noticed came with iOS 6 version. Doing some test of this feature (some of you commented about a brightness bug in earlier posts) I noticed that ambient light variations make that display brightness adjust accordingly to brighter or darker ambiences. Previous to iOS 6, the sensor samples the ambient light, and adjusts the brightness; it does this only once--each time you unlock the phone after waking it. Now in iOS 6 you can easily watch how brightness slider adjusts itself when display senses light variations. If you open Passbook app it raises brightness to full (it is supposed to act this way for easy reading of barcodes) but getting out of Passbook app makes that brightness readjusts itself responding to actual ambient light intensity (this adjusting task occurs slowly until brightness slider stops to right level).
I've checked and ambient light sensor and proximity sensor are separate and work differently but if Apple says that an always on proximity sensor in this iOS version is behaving how it is intended to do; all that I could think of is that it has to do with ambient light "sensing"??

Siri Raise To Speak Intermittent.

I have been having trouble with Siri "Raise To Speak". I can get it to activate maybe 40% of the time.
I raise it to me ear like I am going to use the iPhone, but no acknowledgement from Siri that it is active?
If I hold down the Home button for 2 seconds it works every time.
I assume it is using the ear proximity sensor to activate Siri, but it has not been consistent.

You have to start with the phone in front of you, held parallel to the floor (ie. held flat horizontally), then bring it up to your ear so it's vertical with a normal motion. Your hand must rotate from the horizontal to vertical position of the phone.
If you start with the phone vertically in front of your face, then move it to your ear Siri will NOT activate.
They key is starting with the phone held horizontally. The motion from horizontal to vertical is necessary.
This is illustrated on page 39 of the iPhone User Manual.

TS4079 Raise to speak quit working.

General settings, Siri, Raise to speak is still turned on. Turning it off and back on didn't help.

Activating Siri this way is tricky, and not at all intuitive.

Raise to Speak quit working

When I upgraded to io6, Raise to Speak quit working. The setting is turned on on my iPhone 4s. Siri does work when holding the home button.
What else could have changed?

A few days ago I tried to help a guy with Bose External Speakers and we found the male jack isn't quite long enough to make the connection:

Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings (or for network connection issues 'reset network settings').
(no media or data will be deleted from the device, this will only take a minute).
If that doesn't work then backup and then restore the device as new first (to isolate cause of the issue). Then from backup if necessary.

I am customizing a medical form with two blocks: cov_med_prem_header and cov_med_prem_lines. When user select emp_group from header, the list of medical program with end_date = '31-DEC-4712' will show at the detail block. Once a year at the open enrollment, HR will end date the previous year's program and enter the same programs but with different premium, also set the end_date = '31-DEC-4712'. In order to prevent user from enter to the wrong record, I added when-validate-record trigger for the detail block:

But the RAISE FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE is not working because the exception, but if I take out the exception part, I am not able to insert into the form, message like unhandled exception.

Hi,
There should not be an Exception part if you are using Form_Trigger_failure. So first find out what exception you are getting with the code, commenting out the raise form_trigger_failure. And first handle that, and then remove the exception part and use form_trigger _failure
