Siri "show reminders" command erratic behavior

iPhone 4s and iPad 3 both with iOS 8.1
when asking Siri to "show reminders" it sometimes show them on Siri's display and other times it just open the Reminder application.
Before on iOS 7 it would only "show reminders" in Siri's display, and then open the application if asked for ("open Reminders application").
Has also someone else noticed this erratic behavior with these commands, and have a solution to fix it?

That's the crazy part - sometimes I'm doing nothing - I have no airport installed or any wireless accessories either.
When it last acted upon (after writing 1st post) I played along - since it thought there was a disk in the drive I went ahead and gave a command to burn to it. When it said there was no cd inside , I canceled the operation. So far so good.
My suscpicion is that there was/is an uncompleted command somewhere - but I've no idea what would trigger the drive to remind it of this. Weird huh?
I would like to avoid the 10.4.9 upgrade as my research doesn't give enough favorable input on the Apple Discussions pages to warrant it.
Any other ideas what it could be?

Erratic behavior

I am having a lot of problems with scripts from a book
tutorial. The book is PHP 5 Advanced by Larry Ullman. I've worked
through two of his other books with no problems. But with this book
I am getting a lot of errors and erratic behavior.
With a header.htm file in chapter 5, if I save the page as
htm some of the code is exposed "($fcat\n"; } // end of while loop
?>" in the browser without the two end quotes. The same with the
downloaded file. If I save the file with a php extension the code
is not exposed. Does it really matter if I save it with .htm or
.php? I know that the php files have to make a trip to the server,
so there is a little more overhead. But I don't think it will
matter that much with a few files.
There is something wrong with my work environment. I use
DreamWeaver CS3 as an IDE and the rest of my setup below. I have
completed a semester of php at the community college, completed 4
books on php and mysql with this setup. I am about ready to
re-install DW, PHP, and Apache server to see if it resolves my
problems.
Some of the scripts work on my remote server but not on my
local setup is why I think something might be wrong with my setup.
Has anyone experienced similar problems? If so how did you
resolve them. Since I have fairly recent versions of my programs I
really don't want to re-install everything. The companion scripts
that I downloaded also provide the same errors.
I am getting ready to work through David Powers' book
Dreamweaver CS3 with CSS, AJAX, and PHP. I would like not to have
these problems but I don't want to re-install php, Apache and DW. I
had trouble installing the Creative Suite Web Premium the first
time I installed. I had to have help from tech support.
I should add that older scripts that I have work as they
should.

contained in a page,
you will use the .php extension to save your page. You have

The setup below should work .. perhaps you didn't install
correctly. Did
you use an installer? If you create an info.php page with the
code here,
does it show you the PHP info page?

Cisco ACE - "show conn" command queries

Hi all,
i have some queries regarding the "show conn" command in Cisco ACE.
Working Scenario:
VIP : 10.10.10.1
Server 1 : 10.10.20.1
Server 2 : 10.10.20.2
Client: 30.30.30.1
When a client 30.30.30.1 initiates a connection to the VIP on 10.10.10.1, the ACE load balances it to Server 1, 10.10.20.1. Looking at the "show conn" table, it shows that Server 1 is replying back to the Client 30.30.30.1 through the ACE.
Now, my question is when the ACE returns the traffic to the Client, should the Client be seeing the source IP coming from the VIP or Server 1? My understanding is that the Client should be seeing traffic returning from the VIP. But the show conn table does not seem to suggest so.

The client is expecting a response from the VIP otherwise there would be an asymmetrical routing problem and conns will never complete.
The fact that you're seeing 30.30.30.1 as the destination address is just that the server is able to see client's IP address on the request, when your backend servers sends the reply back to the client this response is forced to go through the ACE, when the ACE looks at the packet it matches with a previously conn created on the flow table so it "NATs" the reply so now the source of the packet is the VIP and destination is 30.30.30.1.
This is a expected behavior as you're not using S-NAT on your network.

Siri and reminders Lists

Can you add a new reminder within a specific list, or ask Siri to show you reminders within a specified list? I have a List called 'work' with items in it. When I ask Siri "Show me my Work Reminders" show says there are no reminders for work. Anyone had any luck? Seems dumb to have lists, but yet not let Siri work with them.

Say "show work reminders" (Actually, after writing this, I tried saying "show me my work reminders" again and it showed me that particular list as you would want. It must be learning.)
Also this is the syntax i used to attach a reminder time:
"Add <listname> reminder to <do whatever> <remind time>"
For example, "add work reminder to close old cases on Friday"

Cool uses for Siri powered Reminders

I thought I would start this so folks could share discoveries of hw cool this combination really is;
There is the obvious
get milk at the store,
wake me up at__.
Ect.
Reminders is integrated enough that it is a real task manager. It will never be as powerful as an Omnifocus ot Things but it might be just the ticked for those that don't need that much complexity.
Multiple lists that can be pulled together by day.sorting isn't available but Siri will sort your tasks by time if you ask to see your reminders for today.
You can use the app as a custom timer.
Sure you can start the iPhones time with Siri but it is only one. Tell Siri to remind you in 5 min to check the grill and a reminder will be created to go off in 5 min.
Theses show on the phones lock screen and stay until cleard with the elapsed time show since it went off too.
Lots of uses here. " remind me to leave for the dentist in a half hour" " remind me to baste the turkey in 15 min" remind me to start the squash in 10 min"
You get the idea. The alarms won't keep ringing so you have to be paying attention but it's sure quicker than messing with a timer app or setting a bunch of wind up timers all over you house.

I'm sorry. That was missleading. Reminders can have any sound in the iPhone sounds list. They just won't repeat like the timer app. That is the disadvantage. If you need that kind of notice and you only have one thing to time then certainly use the timer. If you are using reminders regularly you should be tuned to what ever tone you have chosen anyway. I would sort through the list and see if there is one that gets your attention better. This is found in settings/sounds. You can also create a custom tone and use that as you reminder tone. They can be up to 30 sec long. There is a great App called Due that that has excelent remonders and timers. Its the interaction between Siri and Reminders that make the use of the builtin app cool to me.

MSI X99S SLI PLUS and XP941 - Booting, but very erratic behavior

I finally got my XP941 to boot in my X99S SLI PLUS using the beta BIOS. I Still can't see it listed as a drive in the system settings, but Windows 8 install sees it just fine, and I can see the "Windows Boot Manager" option available to boot from. Windows is booting just fine now, however it will freeze up for about 3 seconds about every 10 seconds. I used CrystalDiskMark and found that speeds were over 1000MB as expected for sequential reads, but 4KQD32 reads were absolutely abysmal. I can't remember the exact number, but it was around .012 I've seen other reviews of the XP941 showing much higher speeds than this. I think the slow random read performance is causing the machine to lockup and have erratic behavior.
Does anybody have any ideas? or can anyone confirm that their SLI Plus is running this m.2 ssd just fine?
Another note is that I am only using 1 4GB Single Dimm of memory until my real memory kit arrives. Would running just a single dimm cause this?

Using default BIOS settings to start from, then enabling windows 8/8.1 features and changing it to M.2 PCIe. I didn't touch the SATA Config after loading defaults. (I don't have any memory remapping settings available to me either).
Keep in mind that the device won't show up as a sata device, so don't even bother looking for it. You just have to start installing windows and trust that it will show up.... make sure after initially installing windows 8.1 and first reboot that your first boot option is "Windows Boot Manager". Show Reminders in iCal not showing

I've just discovered Reminders - and I love it! But I can't get it to show up in iCal, either on my Macbook Air or in iCloud on the web. In the view menu, I don't see the Show Reminders option. Help!

Do you know them if there is anyway to change my alert to remind me I have an event in my iCal on the iPhone from 9 am till 730 am .... By time 9 has come I'm out and it's too late then

Unable to select "show reminders" in ical

Hi,
I am unable to import my reminders into ical. Everything I've read shows that I need to select "show reminders" under View in ical, but this isn't an option (It's not even that I can't select it. It's just not there). My reminders and calendar are all visible on icloud, just not visible together on my mac.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry, no answer, but I have the same problem. I was trying to research why shared reminder lists between my wife and I, who have different AppleIDs, seemed to no longer work. We set them up originally using iCal on icloud.com and shared them per the instructions we'd found. They worked great, but seemed to be no longer working recently. I finally got around to trying to troubleshoot but in no way can get the Reminders list to show in iCal on the website anymore (just like you found). I was wondering if perhaps they were separating sharing functionality into the Reminders app but don't see it there either (nor even a Settings).
Note we still have the reminder lists on our devices (even the ones that were "owned" by the other), however when you use them, it's as if they were only your personal lists - they share only on your AppleID. Any help appreciated.

Unfortunately, I have a very similar problem. Since I upgraded to os 5.1 on my new iPhone 4S the reminders screen will not add new reminders or scroll up and down. What's more strange is the screen will still scroll side to side allowing access to the Completed list, and both the Completed list and Date functions work normally so this must be an upgrades glitch.

The functionality has been REMOVED as a primary function in
CS3. It will
allow you to edit a LEGACY MENU, but not create a new menu
from scratch.
This is a good thing. The DW menus were indescribably
horrible.
In their place, use the Spry menus, or -

the "Show Pop-Up Menu" behavior is depreciated. The problem I'm
having is it is Grayed out (And yes, I made sure I had a 'link'
selected when I tried to choose this behavior) Does anyone have any
suggestions what to do so this selection is not grayed out? Is
there a setting in the Preferences that I missed or is CS3 just
teasing me w/a remembrance of this easy to use pop up menu maker?

Question about ACE show Conn command (tcp duration)

Hello,
I was checking connections and noticed that I would see the initial connection, but after a short time the connection quits showing up in the counters and the “show conn” command. However the user is still up and working.
This is the command I used:
sho conn serverfarm STAGING-HTTPS detail
The output shows all the connection info from source to destination, and in the ESTABLISHED state.
However, after maybe 2~3 minutes, when I up arrow I don't see any connection info. The web page is still up. If I refresh the web page, I do see the connections come in.
Can someone kindly point me to a document or provide an answer on how long should the connection be stored before they are flushed?
Config profile:
4 real servers
HTTPS protocol
Leastconn for predictor
sticky based on src/dst IP

If you would play with a sniffer capture, you could answer the question yourself.
If the browser loads a flash object or a java applet, once it is loaded, you can still work on the page but there is no data transfer.
with a sniffer tool you could see the browser closing the connections.
The default TCP idle timeout on ACE is 1 hour.

Clarification on the SHOW TOP command

Does anyone know much about the Show Top command? I am trying to get specs on the bandwidth utilization of a port. When
I do the Top command it tells me a percent of utilization. However it looks to be too low. I verified the util using a traffic generator test set and it has results of almost double the util. that the Top command stated. So my thoughts are that if the port is set for 100/Full then the Top stats for Util show only half Dux. Is this so??? I think that I need to double the Top results for util and that will be the true Util for the port. Can anyone verify this????

you are kind of correct, that it will look like a half duplex utilization because process actually bundles the TX AND rx into the same counter and it also looks at the full duplex bandwidth when calculating the % utilization. So a GE port is really 2000Mbps full-duplex. so, from the traffic generator you are sending at line rate of 1 Gig, the TOP will see that as 50% utilization. Does that make sense. This is how I understand it.
