Siri stopped reading messages...

Anybody else got this? iOS 8.0 came out and for a brief period I could say 'Hey, Siri' (pause) 'Read Last Message' whilst driving, absolutely brilliant, it meant I didn't have to try to catch it when I heard it come in.
Now it just tells me 'You have no new messages' even though I know I just gone one.

argh, should say iOS 8.1 on my installed version, 8.0.2 is when it started happening. Persists with 8.1.

Siri stopped reading my text messages

A few weeks ago, Siri stopped reading me my text messages. I used to always be able to say, "read me my last text message" and Siri would promptly read it to me, ask me if I wanted to respond, then let me respond by voice as well.
I was on iOS 7 and NOTHING changed, but one day a few weeks or so ago, Siri started just telling me that I "have no new messages" even when I clearly had new messages that just came in.
I updated to iOS 8 the other day thinking it would probably fix it.
It didn't. I can't figure out how to get it to work again.
I have not completely erased the phone and reinstalled iOS 8. I might try that, I just wanted to see if there's another known fix first before going through all of that.
Googling has turned up plenty of others who have had this bug too, but I can't find anything recently or anything that has actually fixed it for people.
Any known help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Siri stopped reading me my messages in iOS 8 on my 4S

I upgraded to iOS 8 on my iPhone 4S. Now Siri won't read me my messages at all. I've gone through the Apple troubleshooting guide and it is still not working. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Siri stopped reading my texts

Siri used to read me new text messages when I asked her to. She stopped and won't even show the message on screen. How do I fix this?

Siri has stopped reading new iMessages when iOS 8 came out. I have not updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 8. Any ideas?

I use Siri all the time. I have found it very helpful. When the new iOS 8 came out, Siri stopped reading new iMessages. I have done all of the usual reboots, etc without any luck. Since it happened the same time as the new iOS 8 ( even tho I did not update ) I wonder if there is some other issue. Have you heard of this issue and do you have any suggestions?

SSiri has also stopped reading my new text messages. She just says "you have no new messages." This also occurred at the same exact time I upgeaded to iOS 8. I have a 5s

Siri reading previously read messages

Whenever I ask Siri to read messages that have just come in, she will read the previous 5 to 6 messages before that which I read before. Some of them are several days old. I've tried doing a reset and also have done a restore but the problem continues. I've also erased old messages but it starts again after a few come in. Anyone else encounter this issue? Reading the message to me was pretty handy when I'm stuck in traffic but because of this issue, I've stopped using this feature.

What troubleshooting steps have you tried?
- Restart the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
- Reset the device. (Same article as above.)
- Reset All Settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings)
- Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)
- Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.
Test after each step. If not resolved, could be a hardware issue, but more likely, if everything else works fine, a bug. Use the feedback channel at apple.com/feedback.

Siri stopped working. I see message, "HOw can I help you" but do not hear any beeps or response indicating that my voice message is being heard. I cant find Siri on Settings. should it be there? what can i do to get it working again? thanks much

I tried going to Settings to look for Siri and it is not listed there. Should it be?? Not sure what is wrong or how i can get my voice activation to work on Siri . thanks for your help

Try a reset: Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

Siri not reading new messages in iOS 8

Ever since I have starting using iOS 8, Siri no longer reads my new messages to me. In my car, with my iPhone 6 connected to my car speaker via Bluetooth, I hear a ping that I have a new text message (or to be more accurate, a new iMessage). So I ask Siri to read me my new messages, which always used to work. But now, Siri claims that I have no new messages. If I look at the phone I can see the new message.
If I know that the message came from Person X, and I ask Siri to read me my last message from Person X, it will instead read the second-to-last message from Person X until I go to my iPhone and launch the Messages app and read the message. Then, if I ask Siri to read the last message from Person X, Siri will correctly read the last message.
I see various people posting similar problems for the last two years, but I haven't seen any solutions. And yes, I have restarted my iPhone and that doesn't fit. In fact, I kept my fingers crossed that this would be fixed in iOS 8.1, and then 8.1.1, but no luck.

Well, this kinda solves my problem. I seem to recall that it would still suggest words (but only one at a time), whereas now it doesn't. It does offer corrections if I fat-finger something. Us users are never satisfied! ;-)

If your phone is locked with a passcode and you ask siri to read any new text message, Siri tells you to unlock it first, which you do by entering the passcode and the moment you do that Siri says 'OK' and starts reading your message without you doing anything else.
However if you have not set the passcode in your phone and if your phone is locked (which means you have yet not done 'slide to unlock') and you ask siri to read the message then you will hear nothing..there will be silence ..and then 'siri will ask you to reply or read it again'. If you want to hear the message then first slide to unlock your phone and then ask siri to read for any new text messages and you will start hearing your message.
Let me know if this does not work.

I might be going crazy, but I recall that Siri is suppose to read your new messages when you received them and ask her to read it. On my phone if i ask siri to read a new mesages, she respons by saying "You have a new message from "name of the person" and that's it. Then asks if I want to reply or read it again. I say "Read it again" She repeates the same thing again. "You have a new message from "name of the person" then goes on you want to read it again or reply? This is somewhat inconveniant since I was looking forward to this cause i bike alot and don't want to pull over every time so I can respond..

I'm having this problem as well. Last night I was able to listen to the messages when I asked. But only for a little while. Then when I got out of Siri and tried to do it later/today it does the whole, "you have a message from ..." and then is silent, and then says "you can either reply or read again" and when I say read again thinking it will actually read it, it doesn't. what's going on??

Hi, I am using weblogic 6.1 to communicate with IBM MQseries foreign
queue. I use the asychronous way "onMessage()"(properly the only
known way) to listen the messages from the queue. I like to stop
receiving messages if my south bound stream has problems and not able
to process the message, I would like to stop fetching the message with
my MDB(message driven bean) untill the down stream problem is cleared.
As weblogic uses container to create the multiple session and
connections internally, how can I efficiently stop the message
delivery, do I have to locate all the connections and issue
connection.stop()for each one, or there is better way to do this.

Just reading through this post and the best way to Reset SIRI is to go to Settings>General>Siri and then turn SIRI off. This erase's anything SIRI has learn't about you, all you have to do then is turn SIRI back on and it is reset. It is not necessary to reset the iPhone itself.
SIRI can only read back unread Txt messages, if you have opened a Txt message and already read it you can not have SIRI read it back to you. Don't forget SIRI is still in BETA and will take a little while while Apple tweek this technology.

I'm going to make some guesses here. You bought your phone second hand. In other words, not from Apple and not from your carrier. What you got is a hacked phone that was originally carrier locked, most likely to AT&T in the US. You are NOT in the US. (If I get any of this wrong, please tell me).
What has happened is when you updated the software, it was re-locked to the original carrier. ONLY the carrier can authorize an unlock. If it is locked to AT&T, you're out of luck as they WILL NOT unlock an iPhone for any reason.
If it's locked to another carrier, you will have to find out what carrier that is (you can NOT tell by looking at the model number) and find out if they unlock iPhones. If you can't find out, or if they do not, then your only real option is to sell the phone and purchase one from a LEGITIMATE source.

Can Siri read messages if I turn preview off?

Hello good people. My question is about the iPhone and it's a little specific but I figure if anyone can help me it would be you good people. So here goes. Is it possible for Siri to read me my texts if I turn the "preview in lock screen" option off in Notifications for Messages? I would like to be able to have Siri read me my messages without having "preview in lock screen" on.

I would need a little more information on this issue to provide a better answer. Are you attempting to use a Bluetooth device with Siri? If this is the case, here are some troubleshooting steps that I would recommend going through.
Using Siri with audio accessories
Siri will work with many audio accessories, including wired and wireless headsets and car stereos.
Find information about troubleshooting Bluetooth headsets and headphones.
Find information about troubleshooting car stereo connections.
If you are using an audio device that connects using the Dock Connector, Siri will not route through that device. You will need to continue to use your device, wired headset, or Bluetooth headset to interact with Siri.
If you are using your iOS device with a device that uses a Remote User Interface, ensure that you control your iOS device using the car stereo or other device. Attempting to control your iOS device directly through either touchscreen, Siri, or Voice Control won't work.

Siri mispronounces "read" as "red" in her own messaging

When asking Siri to "get new mail" she'll say how many messages are there, then says "shall I RED them to you" (that is, mispronouncing read as the past tense verb "red", not present/infinitive "reed"). This is built into the coding for Siri and so it's nothing a user can fix.
Disappointing that something so basic wasn't checked by Apple QA, and that the only way to provide feedback is through the apple report a problem page, which still doesn't even list iOS 8.3 as a choice (it is, thankfully, listed here)! Things are slipping everywhere, it appears; in any case, I'm posting this here in hopes that it gets attention and that Siri's internal messaging is checked for errors. This comes up for me multiple times a day.

Well, I already did post it there. That reporting mechanism seems like a black hole to me. Disappointing also that things like the OS version lists aren't in sync.
