[SIS Series] Sound distortion problems

This computer is 3 years old. I got it from new. Every 6 months I have stripped it out completely to get evrything cleaned. It has always been no problem . This time though when I started it up the sound was distorted as though there was a problem with the speakers. I tried the audio on the Monitor speakers and the result was the same. So that ruled out the speakers. I done a re-run and stripped everything out and reinstalled it again but still the same sound problem. Below are the specs. Can anyone help me with this problem. Could it be the processor as I inadvertently bent one of the pins, tried to straighten it and it came off. Or is the Motherboard on the way out.

**I coudnt understand what you said about putting another proccessor and grafhics on the monitor? Is the sound ok when you put another processor?**
I tried a friend's processor on my own machine, when I started up it seems that all I got was the fan running. No sound and nothing showing on her monitor. Now that I think about it, I should have tried my processor on her computer.
At the end of the day my only option is to get a sound card and set it up. At least going this way I will still have the problem in the background and will still try to get to the bottom of it. If I don't get a card I would probably get rid of the computer as buying a new pc would be just as cheap as buying a motherboard & processor.
Thank you for your time & directions on installing the card.
If I get it sorted I will let you know

    JoBautista,
you still have the option (before your warranty expires) of purchasing an AppleCare Protection Plan, which will provide an additional two years of coverage. Once your warranty expires, you will no longer have the option of purchasing AppleCare.

  • How I fixed my Toshiba Satellite sound distortion problem

I've been trying to get the garbled sound recording problem fixed on my Satllite L745-S4210 for months. I have been on this forum and other forums. Alot of people have given me their time trying to fix it, but I managed to do it myself. In the Microphone Properties Advanced Section is a box "enable audio enhancements" I unchecked that box and all my recordings are now crystal clear!

  • Sound distortion problems, help p

Hi I recently bought the Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme audio but i've been having problems with it. First of all i installed the sound card. Then when turning computer back on i went into bios and disabled the audio function thats in the integrated peripherals then saved and exited. When i got onto my desktop i installed all the drivers and was prompted to restart my computer when i did another driver update came up and i was prompted to install that (even though it says vista at the top and i have xp...) anyways i installed it and restarted my computer again. This time my desktop wouldnt come up. Instead i was brought to a blue screen that said windows has been disabled to prevent any physical damage or sumtin like that. I tried everything but it kept going to that screen. So i took the sound card out, enabled my integrated sound card and started up comp. It worked. So I tried again, installed sound card and disabled integrated sound card when i got to windows i installed drivers and all and now everything works but theres a problem. The sound is a little distorted. Its off and on too, like sometimes when im listening to music the bass is HORRIBLE then other times its ok. Volume doesnt affect it though so i dont know what is changing it. Ventrilo always sounds bad, when i switch channels the robot voice has a crappy echo and sounds terrible. A few other weird things that went on was when i tried installing the sound card a second time i uninstalled the realtek hd audio thing that came on comp and i had on board sound disabled...even still i heard sound (this was before i put my sound card in that second time) So if your still reading this any tips? I think what might be the problem is my on board sound and the sound blaster x-fi are playing at the same time since i couldnt ever figure out how to make my sounds stop. I dont know too too much about comps though so who knows. Tnx for reading.
ALSO im not using a usb headset i've got the plugs going into my sound card...

So this distortion occurs on all songs from any
playlist but didn't use to be present on the same
    songs?
    MB67
    exectly,
every song now has a click click click click sound at the start and during the song and a small hissing sound during the song. Very strange and weird.
    Any suggestions welcome

  • Sound Distortion problems w/ lower frequency tones/instuments

I've been ending up with a lot of distortion in tracks when I bounce them over to Itunes. Primarily w/ lower frequency notes on bass and various pads - it's frustrating to have to adjust all the levels to lose the distortion. I obviously don't want to have to avoid using lower tones in tracks.
Am I stuck just filtering and adjusting eq's or is their an easier option?
    Thanks in advance all.

What the best way is to avoid distortion w/ lower frequencies?
The likely source of your distortion is too hot of an output level. You might try using compression or limiting to keep those low-frequency levels under control. Other than that, you just have to adjust individual track levels so that you get a good overall level without distortion. EQ can also help if a certain frequency range is too hot compared to everything else.

  • Output sound distortion when USB Mic Connected

    Hi everyone,
Really appreciate anyone’s help on this sound distortion problem.
I have been using the new 2014 iMac 27' for last 8 Months, bought Brand New, and recently updated to Yosemite. Everything worked fine including recording, until this update.
I'm using Blue Yeti USB Mic for recording, and few days after the update I was trying to record in GarageBand and the output sound (via headphone connected to USB MIc) started to distort and then suddenly dropped the bitrate/ sound and I could only hear some clicks. I reinstalled the GargeBand, still its the same distortion happens. The sound gets back to normal, only for few seconds, after I unplug the USB cable from the Mic device. And I tried changing the bit rate and again sounds starts to drop after few sec. This happens only when I connect the Blue Yeti USB Mic and sound output from the Mic itself. Same thing happens with iTunes as well. Output sound from Internal mic and speakers are working fine as normal.
I tried connecting the USB Mic to my Windows laptop and its working fine with the Cubase 5 without any problem. So the problem is with the output sound, when external Mic connected.
I don’t know the solution for this. Have checked on every single blog/ thread, sill couldn’t find the answer I’m looking for, to fix this.
It would be great if you have any kind of a solution for the same.

Nope. The larger buffer didn't work. What did work was running a cord out of the 1/4-inch jack from the direct box to a 1/4-to-1/8-inch adapter and then into the mic/line-in jack on my computer. I set GarageBand to use the built-in line-in and had no static problems. It's a stopgap until this gets fixed.
A post by LinuxMercedes on Oct. 3 at http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8158914 may provide a solution.

  • Having sound distortions in games with M-Audio Revolution 7.1

I'm having sound distortion problems with a couple of games. I think this started a few OS X updates ago, but not sure which one. Two known games are Quake 3 and Quake 4. When I run either of them, the sound is deep and distorted.
I'm sure an update of OS X broke m-audio's revolution driver. I currently have driver version 1.4.1. I only have distortions when sending sound output to my sound card. Sound sent to internal speaker comes out fine. I also tried with a freshly created user and freshly reinstalled driver & prefs. Same problem.
I've tried M-Audio's site with no luck for solutions. It's been a year or so since they have updated it.
Is anyone else having similar experiences with their M-Audio Revolutions?

    • DVD-ROM drive
    • Mac OS X version 10.3 or later (Apple DVD Player required or AC-3 or DTS)
    • 512MB RAM

I dont think the Card will fully work with your Machine, because of your BWG3's specs.
Reading the basic info, for Multi-Channel Operation aka Surround Sound you comptuer is not at Spec as it states it requires 733MHz G4 QS min, 800MHz G4 QS recommended.

  • Sound distortion in most recent episode of Lost

    Hi all,
the most recent episode of Lost plays on my Apple TV with really bad sound distortion starting from 4.23 and continuing to the end.
I have a series pass so the episode downloaded onto my Apple TV. The file that has synched with my Mac plays fine in iTunes. I've changed the sync options to remove that ep of Lost from the appletv and then synched back, but it still does it. The episode is Lost s6 e6 'Sundown'. Has anyone else had this issue? I don't want to watch it on my laptop, I really need it to work on the Apple TV!
    Thanks
    Caspar

Not the best solution, but at least you'll be able to watch this episode on the Apple TV.
    Either:
Switch Dolby Digital Out to Off in Apple TV's setting. The episode will then play the Stereo AAC track instead (which is fine, btw). Problem is, you'll have to switch Dolby Digital Out back on if you want surround sound back for other content.
    Or:
    Download an App called Subler.
Open the HD Episode of Lost in Subler.
You'll see that subler lists the video track and two audio tracks. The Digital surround track is not ticked, but this normal and is not the cause of the 'static problem'
Select the surround track and click the delete button.
Save the file and re-sync to Apple TV.
It will now play in stereo.

  • SB Audigy 2NX USB - Sound distorted and interrupted after format

    Salve,
due to some softwareproblems i had to format my hd, and reinstall my windows.
    some specs first:
win xp prof, sp2, intel p4 2,2 desknote motherboard, sis vga, sis onboard sound
usb devices: ta 33 usb router, wacom intuos 3 and soundblaster audigy 2 nx
the funny thing is - before i formated, the sb worked well, i had no trouble.
then i got my graphic tablet - and it didn?t work properly - the pc chrashed every time i used the tablet. installing sp2 solved the prob, and sb and tablet worked well togehter.
i installed the system again, and first my onboard chips drivers were installed. i can't deaktivate them in the bios - so they are loaded, no matter if you want to or not.
then i connected the sb again, and the sound plays clean - but only on two speakers.
after installing the drivers, the sound was interrupted, or had some distortion.
i tried to deaktivate the onboar chip, but it didn?t solve the problem.
after installing my tablet - the sound got worse, and the mouse cursor often lagged or stucked. so i thought it could be a driver problem, or irq conflict. in installed sp2 again, but this time it did not fix anything.
i tried all i knew - deaktivate acpi, reinstall drivers, cleaning registry, re install and so on. then i calles the tech support - he gave me hints, i already tried, and gave me a alink for the webupdate drivers. i downed and istalled them - but still the same problems. i uninstalled my usb controllers, disconnected all other usb hardware, i even changed through all 4 ports - but the problem stayed. after 3 days i decided to format again - but - tadaaaa -it was useless. i still have the same problem - now one week is over and i?m fed up with this. i need my soundcard for making music, and playing dj sets....and i?m running out of time - so please - if anyone has an idea, i would be very glad.
i found out the distortion depends on cpu usage, but also changing the parameters of the hardwares, soundchip- and blasters accelaration did not help. dxdiag said it'ss all fine
    with my system.
    greetings,
    psycho mantis,
    germany

    hi,
well i could fix the problem.
first i downloaded updates for my board and all the chips on it, and windows sp2 and so on...
but nothin worked. the problem was caused by the ir port. i disabled ir support in the bios, and then it worked fine. there was an interrupt channel conflict. now everything is fine

  • Sound Distortion playing DVDs with Audigy2 Va

Last time I have problems playing DVD movies on my computer: The sound is distorted
by scratches like an old vinyl. I am using a SB Audigy 2 on Win XP. I have tried several software DVD players, reinstalled the old drivers from CD and cleanly installed teh newest drivers via internet auto update. I also tried to update my VIA chipset drivers, deactivated several background programs etc.
I found out that disabling the sound acceleration in DXDiag removes the sound distortion but then the sound (speech, effects) within a movie are extremly quiet compared to the music.
Another thing: First I deinstalled completely the software and drivers from my audigy to replace it with new ones. Then I had to notice that the new Audio Control Center does not support the option to send bass-frequencies to my subwoofer. I could set the speakers to 5. but had no chance to get my subwoofer working. At the moment I have status quo by using new drivers, but my old creative applications for configurating my speakers.

Ijust checked the preferences, go to Disc Setup and on the bottom in the Audio section, check off the box that says "Disable Dolby dynamic range compression" see if that helps.

  • Wav file distortion problem

When putting radio programs together, I'm adding .wav files to .mp3 files in the multitrack view in Audition 3.0 and they sound fine to start with.  When I export the file to mp3 and listen to it in the edit view the .wav spots that I added sound distorted, as if there are 2 or 3 spots playing on top of each other.  I go back to Multitrack view and they also now sound distorted.  The other thing that happens is that sometimes once I export something of say 10mins, it only saves the first 20 seconds or so!  It doesn't happen every time but it is quite often.  If I go to another computer it seems to work fine and nobody else I know seems to get this problem which makes me think it must be my laptop.  Any idea what is causing these issues?  Maybe my Audio hardware or sample rate?  Please help!  Thanks.

    jonnykibbs wrote:
To be honest I'm not sure what the levels are,
Surely you can see on Audition's meters what the signal is peaking at? If levels are peaking very near to '0' then when you encode to  a lossy format like .mp3 you can generate levels above '0' and which lead to clipping and distortion.

  • Sound Distortion AP 11 and 12.

I'm experiencing sound distortion and weak signal after AP upgraded to 11. I downloaded 12 and I still have the problem. Windows 7.

    AP?  You mean Flash Player?
12 is a beta, so it's not a good idea to use that to remedy playback problems as it's a test product.
Are you experiencing audio issues elsewhere? Windows Media Player, iTunes, Quick Time or VLC for instance?

  • Sound distortion issue when uploading iMovie

Each time I try to 'Share' a movie I created the sound distorts once it's uploaded.  It's driving me crazy!  I've read other posts re this problem but no resolutions given.  The sound just ends up a bit fuzzy - it's fine until it's uploaded to file or iTunes etc.  Does anyone else know what the problem may be?

Solved it by downloading win 8 drivers for audio from sony support... followed condor's suggestion http://community.sony.com/t5/VAIO-Windows-10/LAPTOP-VAIO-SVT15112CSX-audio-drivers-that-work-with-windows-10/m-p/516334#U516334

  • Why am I getting sound distortion when connecting iPad 2 to amplifier.

I am getting sound distortion when connecting iPad or iPod thru amplifier using AirPlay or 3.5mm to rca cables. Also the sound has far too much bass. No problems when connected in car.

It sounds like a mismatched impedence.  What are you connecting to?   the output from the jack is intended for headphones, and is not just an audio out.
Try turning the volume on the pad way down, and use the gain on your amp, and see if that minimizes the issue.
There is a pure audio signal for both channels on the 31 pin plug, but you would need a special cable to use it.  I would bet they are available if you google.  Although I have read that the 31 pin signal is not filtered like the headphone output, so while it is a pure audio output, there may be some noise in it that would need to be filtered.
Try google for a 31 pin cable.  ( the input for the car is probably built to take a signal from a headphone output, while your amp may be expecting a lower power signal)
