.sit file Install

I downloaded some games off the internet and they are .sit files. Is it possible for me to install these on an Intel Mac?

Sure, provided they're Mac OS X games. You just need a copy of Stuffit Expander.
Stuffit used to be the de facto compression standard on the Mac but .zip and .gz are more common now.

  • I uninstalled and re-installed dreamweaver and it deleted ALL of my site files!

Using Creative Cloud, I uninstalled and re-installed D6, and now I no longer have ANY site files.  Over twenty sites were deleted.  How can this happen?

Wow, I have never heard of such a thing and have no clue how that would even be possible.
Were you saving the actual files into a DW program folder or something? Maybe that would explain a total uninstall having any affect on your actual files. It's a guess anyway.
It's still quite "fixable" even if you don't have a back-up (you have a back-up, right?)
You can create a new site and point to an empty folder on your desktop with the site name. Add your FTP info and save the new, basically blank site definition. You can then connect to your site and choose the "Get" button to download the entire site back to your HD.
Do that for each and you'll be back in business.

  • "An error occurred accessing your Microsoft SharePoint Foundation site files" connecting site with SharePoint Designer

I have a SharePoint 2013 environment with 1 AD Server, 1 DB Server and 1 APP Server, with 13 Web Applications running under the SharePoint.
Recently I rebuilted the application because of some infrasctrucutre problems, and I was able to solve all of them, except one. I can't connect to any of those 13 Web Apps with SharePoint Designer. When I try to connect, it always ask credentials, then it
seems like loading the site, then the error appears:
"An error occurred accessing your Microsoft SharePoint Foundation site files. Authors - if you are authoring against
a Web server, please contact the Webmaster for this server's Web site. WebMasters - please see the server's application event log for more details."
I've spent hours troubleshooting it, but none of the information I found was valid. I've already tried to clean the cache, but didn't work. I found plenty of related data of this
error with FrontPage and old versions of SharePoint, but nothing helped. All the Web Apps are SPD-Enabled at Site Collection Administration. I've tried connecting from many different PC's. The 15/LOGS folder doesn't get any data from this error, neither the
    Event Viewer.
I really don't know what else to do. Please Help!

I found the answer of my issue was in a .NET Agent installed by NewRelic on the server. I found a connection trouble with Fiddler, then I end up figuring this out:
This can be the result of Real User Monitoring so the first step in troubleshooting would be to disable it and see how it affects the application. The .Net Agent injects snippets of javascript into the header of pages sent to the users browser to measure the
page load time on the user's end.
You can disable RUM by editing newrelic.config and changing this line:
    <browserMonitoring autoInstrument="true"/>
    to this:
    <browserMonitoring autoInstrument="false"/>

  • DW CS5 "Get" bug in expanded site files view

    Hi,
I just installed the CS5 Design Premium trial and have been playing with Dreamweaver. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the following issue...
When in expanded site files view (showing both local and remote), selecting a file on the REMOTE site and trying to "Get" the file does not download the remote file. It instead tries to retrieve the remote copy of the file(s) selected in the LOCAL file list pane.
If no file is selected on the local file list, pressing "Get" after selecting a REMOTE file from the list brings up the "Are you sure you wish to get the entire site" dialog.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Open expanded site files view (local and remote)
    2. Click on a file in the remote file list. For testing purposes, click on a file in the LOCAL list first, then select a remote file
    3. Click the Get button or right click on the remote file and choose Get.
DW should download the selected REMOTE file if that was the last selected file prior to executing the Get command. (this is the action that DW CS3/CS4 does)
I have submitted this bug in the official Adobe bug reporting system, but I'm curious as to whether others can reproduce this bug.
    Thanks

@Murray, I think I have discovered exactly where the bug lies and how you may be able to reproduce it yourself...
@quantumlight - do you happen to have your Site Files panel UNDOCKED and in its own floating panel??
I work with Dreamweaver on a dual/multi monitor setup. I have my split design/code view on one screen, and the site files and code inspector on a DETACHED Files panel on the 2nd monitor.
I did a full DW prefences reset and everything went back to the factory setting, with the Files panel docked to the right hand side of the DW program window. With it docked, I opened the expanded/split site files view and IT WORKED NORMALLY as is expected.
However, as soon as I UNDOCKED the Files panel into its own floating panel and expanded the file view, the bug appeared and selecting a REMOTE FILE and pressing Get, asked to either download a copy of the selected LOCAL file, or if no local file is selected it asks "Are you sure you want to get the entire site"
Redocking the Files panel back to its original position makes the bug disappear.
I have tested this on two Windows 7 machines and one Mac Snow Leopard machine, both with the CS5 11.0.2 updates installed.
It seems it's a Windows version only bug as both Win7 machines produced the bug, with the Mac machine NOT presenting the bug in either docked or floating panel state.
Hopefully the Adobe DW guys see this soon and can work on fixing this bug in the next update.
Do you think i should re-submit my previous bug report with this updated discovery?

  • What is an "sit" file?

I have pictures in an Olympus RAW format (.ORF I think) from an Olympus 5050 Zoom Camera. I installed the Camedia Master 4.1 software and then went to the Olympus website to download the latest update (4.2). The file downloaded and displayed in the download window. I double clicked on it but it would not open as there is no application to open it with. Does anyone know what I need to use to open this file? Is there another application that can read this file? iPhoto will not open it (I didn't think it would).
    Thanks

.sit files are those compressed and expandable by Aladin's Stuffit Expander.
You need to DL Stuffit, and then all supported-file formats (and .sit is but one) will be automatically expanded when they are DL in the future.

  • DW 4 not seeing GoLive .site file!

I have several sites created in GoLive 7. I downloaded the GoLive 9 free trial, brought them over into GL9. Then I did the "Convert Site to New Structure" command as I have seen suggested. Downloaded the GoLive to DW migration extension and installed it. So far so good.
But when I go to Import GoLive Site, and navigate to the folder where the site file is (there are actually several, only one is the current one), Dreamweaver does not "see" the .site files, even though when I look in the window in explorer, they are there. All I see are the web-content, web-data, and web-settings folders, but no .site files at all.

This is an issue that I have never come across before. You're
    using a
non-standard filename extension, so it doesn't particularly
    surprise me
that Dreamweaver ignored it. Have you tried entering
    .properties in the
list of filename extensions, as I suggested? If that works,
    your problem
is solved. All that's needed is for the documentation to be
    made more
    explicit.
On the other hand, if your filename extension is likely to be
    in
widespread use, perhaps it's something that should be added
    to the
standard list of files that Dreamweaver handles. Submit a
    feature
    request to the Dreamweaver team.

  • Can't read site files

I just got a new computer and installed DWMX2004. My old site
files are also on the new computer. I used the Site Wizard to
create a new site, leading to the folder that contains the files.
However, while I can see the folder defined as a site, I cannot see
the folders and files under that folder. I am on local view too. I
can see files under different folders on my computer. I can also
see my site files using the Windows file manager, so I know they
are there. Probably something very elementary, but I can't figure
    it out yet!

It will not let me download the file. I get the following messages when I click on "View Image" I get the message:
I then click on save, save as and I get the message:

  • Stuffit Will Not "Expand" .sit Files

Please help. Every time I double-click a ".sit" file (or, select Stuffit from the "open with" menu item), a small windows opens for less than a second, then closes. Nothing else happens. I can't tell what the window is because it only flashes on the desktop.
I am experiencing no other problems on my PM. I have deleted all the Stuffit files I could find using Spotlight; Repaired Disk Permissions and Repaired Disk (no problems found in either); re-booted, and re-downloaded and re-installed Stuffit Expander -- but, I get the exact same results.
It must be something simple that I am overlooking, as I am fairly new to the Mac world. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

maclover - thanks again for the response. What does "you could have a trawl here" mean?
I went to the support link you provided and followed the instructions (even though it appears the problem described in this link is for when Stuffit crashes upon opening - Stuffit opens fine for me, but crashes upon attempting to expand a file). Anyway, I turned off "version checking" in Stuffit (I was able to do that without going through all the steps...all my other settings were as described), but the results are still the same: Stuffit crashes the moment it tries to expand a ".sit" file. More suggestions?

  • Can't open .Sit files

I've been trying to install some drivers that download as .sit files. I then can't open these files. Any suggestions out there?

    Bartley,
You will have to install Stuffit Expander.
Please read: Mac OS X 10.4: Where is StuffIt Expander?
Allume StuffIt Expander doesn't come with Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.
But Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger lets you compress and decompress archive (.zip) files that work with both Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows.
If you'd like to use StuffIt Expander too, for example, to open .sit or .sitx compressed files, you can download it from the Allume Systems website.

    Help please,

Are you trying to install from the original CDs, or a copy someone gave to you?
I have only CS1, but I would think Adobe CS2 should have an installer application not dependent on Stuffit since it doesn't mention anything about that in the support doc.

  • Unable to DISCOVER site files

Running DW CS5. That works fine.
Running XAMPP as a localhost server. That works fine.
Created a MySQL database to match the db name, user, and password on a remote server. That works fine.
Installed WordPress (using the same admin password as the remote server). That works fine.
Dreamweaver discovers the site files. That works fine.
The problem occurs when importing the remote MySQL database information. When Dreamweaver does a site search for the files it reports that the server isn't configured correctly. However, reloading the MySQL database that was created when WordPress was originally installed on the local server, DW has no problem discovering the site files. So, it appears that there is something wonky with the imported database.
The references in the database have all been conformed to work on the local server. Site search has been run before the change and after; it doesn't matter either way because the site files are never recognized.
    The error message reads:
"Dynamically related files could not be resolved because the site definition is not correct for this server."
At this point I have no idea what to look at as a possible cause.
    Your ideas/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    =================== Update ====================
Originally exported the database using phpMyAdmin and used the same to import.
Used WordPress' export/import feature (requires a plugin for the import). It now works fine.
If anyone has a clue as to why DW chokes when export/import with phpMyAdmin, please share.

Unfortunately iWeb cannot read or import previously published files, only generate them.  You'll have to recreate your site from scratch.
However, Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing files, image, audio, video, etc., from the published site in the recreation of the site.

  • What is the best way to open a .sit file?

I downloaded my first .sit file today and thought double-clicking on it would open it with Stuffit Expander (which I also thought was included software, but apparently not -- at least not according to Spotlight). Instead, it for some reason defaulted to Microsoft Word to open it. Since the .sit file is a program that of course didn't work.
When I checked VersionTracker I noticed that Stuffit Expander has a pretty mediocre user rating.
*Is there a preferred way to expand .sit files?*
    Replies appreciated.

I don't know but its MacUpdate rating is 3 stars (out of 5) and its VersionTracker rating is 2 stars (out of 5), so I concluded there must be something about it people aren't happy with.
