I Downloaded something onto my computer and now when I click onto safari yahoo pops up instead of top sites I know certain changes come along with downloading but if there is a way back to top sites and google as my search engine I need it!! I'm not one for change and I love the whole original display that the macs have to offer when you first get your mac so thats why I really want top sites back also it was great when your in and rush and so much easier!! How can I get my site back (done with Iweb) on my new hard drive? I had to change my hard drive after droping my computer.

Can someone help me. I had to change my hard drive few weeks ago and lost everything. I made a site via iweb and my site is still on line but I don't know how can I get my site back on my iweb with my new hard drive.

How do you get a back of your site back online?

I had to nuke and pave my computer to send it in for repair. I thought I backed up everything with Backup, but it looks like my sites in iWeb did not get backup up.
I went to my online Idisk and everything was there. I copied it to my desktop before I did the following:
1. Created a new page from iPhoto 06
2. In iWeb noticed that my other sites were not listed
3. Went to the iDisk and made a back up of the sites folder
4. Pressed publish
Result:
My main page was now the new one and my other site was not there.
I then put all the original files back in place and tried to go to my page.
Result:
Cannot find page.
How the heck do I get my original site back? iWeb should sync with the iDisk and bring all those pages back into iWeb for editing and updating. Does it?
Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

~/Library/Application Support/iWeb has a folder named Doamin.sites and it is required to make edits to your previously published pages.
You can not edit existing pages without that file. iWeb can't import or open html files.

Reformatted hardrive can i get my iweb site back?

i recently reformatted my computer and i went back into iweb to find that my site is no longer there. i know that formatting erases everything but i did use timemachine to make a backup of my entire drive before i did so. where can i find the files to open my site back in iweb or is there a way to pull it somehow off of my idisk where the content for my site is stored

i went to the application support folder on my mac HD and it didnt have a iWeb folder so i dragged the one from the time machine backup and opened up iWeb and it still didnt open my site.

Now, perhaps you meant that it will never be changed back to the exact format of the old site, but that's not what you said. As I read it, the only reasonable interpretations of your utterance were as follows:
That you are privy to some Top Secret information concerning the long-term plans of Apple's support site structure, and had some inside knowledge that the site would, in fact, not change.
That you were under the mistaken belief that the site would actually remain unchanged.
I reasoned that the first option was patently absurd, leaving me with option #2. And that, my dear Kappy, is the interpretation upon which I based my reply.
All of this confusion could have been easily avoided had you been a bit more articulate with your meaning in the first place.

Seems to be different results for different people.
My sites have usually migrated automatically whenever I have upgraded. Others report the same outcome as you.
I've never traced the reasons for non-migration to a single root cause.

How to get 'Top Sites' back?

I downloaded an Installer, but then deleted it, however what i didn't notice was that it had made itself my Safari Homepage, rather than 'Top Sites', how do i get 'Top Sites' back?

Open Safari and click Preferences on the menu named Safari. On the General tab set "New Windows Open with" and "New Tabs Open with" to Top Sites. It doesn't matter what the Homepage is set to if the above are set to Top Sites.
If New Windows Open With isn't a choice, go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > General and put a checkmark in front of "Close Windows when Quitting an app."

How do I get a deleted site back?

When I was trying to follow the directions to only publish one of my sites to my MobleMe account, it told me to delete the other site and publish. However what it did not say is that you would not be able to get the old site back ... EVER! Now a site that took me 2 years to build and get it right for work is gone. I have tried to go to the domain file, but the domain file just comes up as the one site that I did not delete. Is there anyone who can help me get back the site that I lost. I have a copy of it published to a folder on my desktop but that is the only copy of the information I have. To my knowledge, you cannot import html files into iWeb to edit. Why would apple make it so easy to delete an entire site and have no way to get it back.
Please to anyone that can help ... I am desperate to get this back without having to recreate a 2 year long project.

Try going to your iDisk/Web/Sites folder, locate the site folder and copy it to your desktop. In it will be the image files used in the site. You can use those in recreating your site.
Putting a transparent shape over a photo won't prevent a view from getting a copy. If they drag the photo to the desktop it will be at the pixel dimensions that it displayed with on the site. Not very big. If you put a transparent shape over it the viewer can take a screenshot of the photos and get a file with the same pixel dimensions. Add the transparent shapes just makes it only slightly more difficult for the view to get a copy, albeit a very, low resolution one, and can make your page load slower.
The best way to identify photos as your own is to watermark the. You can use a 3rd party editor or one of the many watermarking applications available at VersionTracker.com.

HT1391 How can I copy new songs from other sites back to my windows folders?

I just bought an ipod and downloaded itunes on it and my lap-top, (where I use windows media player.) Today I bought some songs from another website on my computer, but I couldn't find them in the "my music" folders, I signed on to itunes and found them there. I checked, and my preferences for that site hadn't been changed; how can I copy those songs back into windows? Itunes copied my entire library from my computer...

I figured this out; just go to the itunes folder, open it, and then move the song, or album, into that artist's folder in "my music." I thought about doing this, then I read the cautions about renaming, or moving, tracks and hesitated. It worked just fine.

The earlier version of FF brought all my previously open sites back after a system shut down (like for a scheduled windows update or similar). Now this is not happening any longer. What can I do? I liked this feature a lot and really miss it!!

I could choose to have all my previously open tabs brought back when the computer - accidentally or on a scheduled update - suddenly closed down. Sometimes I have windows open for several days with articles and sites that I spent time with finding. Now they are all gone and I have to painstakingly try to get them back.

hello; i just erased the post i started with, because my status has changed. i searched in the firefox folder and found the uninstall folder, and this time, uninstall worked perfectly, and it gave me an option to save my personal info! YAY! i installed ff 3.6.24 without a hitch; FF is Baaaaaack!
However, I did get a window saying my computer doesn't have enough resources for the latest version of 8, but that I should install the latest compatible version of firefox; which version would that be, I wonder? It takes me to the same page with the ff 3.6.24 downloads. I already have that now.
I am going to mark this as solved; thank you cor-el for helping me with this problem and sticking with me as i whined and moaned, and tried to get the courage to "just do it!"

Can't put a site back on to, Options, security, saved passwords.

I'm using; Firefox version 3.6.22 with Windows 7 on a Dell Studio 17 inch laptop.
On the; Tools, Options, security section, saved passwords.
I did have my login for www.walmart.com , in it. It worked fine & loaded &/or signed me in every time. Till today. The walmart.com site is gone from the saved list and even though the "Remember Passwords for sites" is working - it asked if I wanted to save the login info when I just registered to ask for help with this - it did not ask, "do I want to save the sign in, or login, password for this site" when I just had signed into the walmart.com because it didn't do it automatically like usual. Also the walmart.com isn't on the exception list either. But when I login on the site it doesn't ask if I want to save it, and I cant find a way to add it back to the list of sites.
The troubleshooting help for adding a site to the saved passwords list that had been blocked, or "do not ask again" checked, said to check the exceptions list and delete it from there. But the one I want back on the saved list is NOT on the exceptions list.
How can I get this reset, fixed, or what ever, without loosing ALL of my other saved sites UN & PW?
I used to have all my User Names and Pass Words saved with the NORTON security program. But now I cant access them because my NORTON expired. After loosing all of those I don't need to loose these too.

While looking into the issue you are experiencing I came across some helpful information. In an article called iCloud: Troubleshooting creating backups found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3992 there are a number of steps to help get your issue resolved.
General troubleshooting
General information
iCloud Backup requires a Wi-Fi connection to the Internet.
Automatic backups occur when you've plugged in your iOS device, locked the screen, and have connected it to Wi-Fi.
You can manually start a backup by tapping Back Up Now in Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup (requires a Wi-Fi connection to the Internet).
iCloud Backup will provide helpful information and status messages related to backups at the bottom ofSettings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.
If automatic backups don't work as expected, test to see what happens when you start a manual backup by tapping Back Up Now at the bottom of the Storage & Backup screen.
Backups and restores both take time, especially if you have a lot of data or a slow connection. Depending on the size of your data and the speed of your network, you may need to give more time than you expected to a backup or restore.
Make sure you have at least 50 MB of free space available on your iOS device before you back up. If you have no space available on your device, iCloud Backup can fail in some cases. You can verify how much free space you have available on your iOS device in Settings > General > About.
