Site Backup Task fails

I am using SCCM2012 R2, I am trying to take backup i am getting error, i am using domain admin account, i gave full access to it in SQL , in sharing and security permissions(folder) i gave full access. (MY SCCM and SQL Server are in one box)
Warning: SQL installation root directory is empty: The registy key "SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Setup\SQLPath(populated by configmgr setup) was found empty
Backup Folder doesnot exist or backup service doesnot have permission to access teh folder

Hi
You need to give the computer account of the site server and the computer account of the SQL Server, if SQL Server is installed on another computer, Write NTFS and share permissions to the shared network folder.
By the way, I would recommend that you create your backup from SQL (SQL maintanence) instead. The only advantage of using the ConfigMgr Backup maintenance task is that you can specify what to do after the backup has completed in the AFTERBACKUP.BAT
file created in the smsbkup.box.
For information about how to create a ConfigMgr backup in SQL check out this post:

• SCCM 2012 R2 CU4 - Site Backup Task failed

Hi, I set up a Site Maintenance Task for Backup our Primary Site, but every time I run this task it fail with the following message:
Error: Backup folder \\backupserver\backupshare$ does not exist or backup service does not have permission to access the folder.
I tried to use "erveryone" in share permissions and NTFS Permissions with Full Control and then the Backup works! ... I tried to remove the everyone from NTFS completely then the Backup also still works .. but when I remove everyone from the share
permissions (and grant the SCCM Site Server and SQL Server Computer Accounts the Full Control Permission) the backup fails..
so it seems to me that I have a permission issue ... what is the correct Permission setup for UNC Backup? (Share and NTFS Permissions) ... I tried to give the SCCM Server and SQL Server Computer and SQL Cluster Account Full Control without success...)
kind regards

• Site backup task failure

Ever since I did a site recovery my site backups are failing, I know you can set it back to no then set it back to yes but thats all the options I have (and that didn't work btw).
MSB

Hello Marc,
I would personally try and solve each issue separately. If you can start the backup job manually by starting the service, then troubleshoot the directory structure first. If you look at the link I provided (updated), it shows how to trouble-shoot this. Here
is the direct link here:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/configurationmgr/archive/2012/08/01/support-tip-a-backup-site-server-maintenance-task-may-fail-to-run-in-configmgr-2012.aspx
Using Procmon with the filter settings listed really shows what each process is doing and why it failed.

• Backup task failed with exit code -1

Hello all.
I have not been able to backup my Daylite database for almost 2 weeks. This is the error I am getting: "backup task failed with exit code -1"
I have a Mac Mini Server running 10.7.1 .    I have plenty of disk space available 140GB and the Daylite database is about 1.7GB.
I had a corrupt disk and repaired it w/ disk utility and also verified/repaired permissions. I have tried backing it up to another location with no luck.
Anyone had a similar problem ??

until you delete the previous version in zlm and do a rug ref... or is this as designed
When you make changes to the bundle you need to apply them. That creates a new version and then you need to deploy that new version. Apply and deploy are on the same page. But I guess you know that.
If you already did that and still had problems, it might be the zen loader that needs a little bit more time. Once you hit deploy, a zen queue entry gets created that informs the zen loader to update the bundle xml file in the file repository. That file is delivered to the managed device when it queries for bundle information. So if that bundle xml contains the old version, the client will see that.
Problems here can be that the zen loader simply needs a few seconds longer then when you change to the device and run rug ref. Or there can be other queue entries that get processed and the bundle xml update is just in the queue and waiting. The zen loader has 5 slots for processing queue entries.
On the zlm server you can run "zlman ql I" for in progress entries and "zlman ql N" for new state entries that ned to be processed.
Or you can use the short script I posted (Cool Solutions: Monitor ZLM queue entries with Nagios) that shows you in one line how many and what type of queue entries currently exist. This is what I always use to get a overview about the queue status.

• SMS SITE BACKUP service failed to start

Hi,
Trying to start SMS SITE BACKUP service manually but it failed to start. Giving system error 2, specified service cannot find.
So how to start the backup.

Is this for the server that you just restored? Is that server healthy? If I remember right you also have the error
8 issue. A lot of these can be interrelated. IMO you should focus on the site server issue then work on the client issue.
No, this is not restored server. You mentioned right that error 8 issue is there but its getting resolved after restart.
Once restart there is no other MP related issue showing.
Not understanding where to check. Please suggest.
There is nothing to check on this one. It either exist or it doesn’t. Since it doesn’t exist you will need to contact CSS directly for support. They can work with you to fix
up your site server and make sure your site server is happy.

Does anyone know what the affected release for this bug, 8.0(34.0), is referring to?
As far as I can see, the most recent release code for present 4400 WLCs is 7.0.240.0 which means either this bug was found during the development of the new code version, 8.0 or 8.0(34) actually refers to the release of something else.

• "ERROR_DESTINATION_INVALID: Web deployment task failed" when trying to deploy site

I'm working on our CI process for auto-publishing WebJobs along with a host WebSite for said jobs. This isn't working, but that's not the point at the moment.
The site in question is called devpandajobhost.azurewebsites.net and I have created (and deleted

However, earlier today, my publish commands have started failing with

It looks like the scm site for my site doesn't exist. I have tried deleting and recreating my site several times, through various different mechanisms (VS new project, portal, powershell). The site can be created but when I publish to it I get the error
above.
What is going on?
PS my theory is that I deleted and recreated it and the Azure internal DNS server has got in a pickle

it is not only internal Azure DNS but your DNS provider as well. Since DNS records are propagated and cached (and negative cached as well) you need to wait for some time for negative cache to expire.
I see no good reason to go through the cycle of creating new site every time unless this is your scenario. If so you can delete the old one and create always sites with new name.

• Underlying task failed on exit?

I've recently been having troubles with my main drive, which is a raid mirror of two 250GB Maxtor drives which were pulls from G5's. when I would startup the computer, startup would take forever...it would just sit on the grey apple screen for minutes before starting up. when it did start up, before I'd have a chance to open anything at all, the screen would fade to the blue shutting down screen.
after getting started up on another drive I had as a scratch disk, I got a "device was removed incorrectly" warning, and my raid disappeared. I could see it in Disk Utility, but it would not mount. I could not verify it, and I couldn't repair it. it would report "Underlying task failed on exit."
I somehow got the raid back online, but I've not yet been successful booting on it. today it mysteriously disconnected itself again, and I found that i could verify the disk. I tried that, and it said the disk needed minor Volume header repair. I repaired that, and tried to set up the raid, but it failed, again due to "Underlying task failed on exit."
does anyone have any insight as to what is going on, or what i can do?
Zack

Since you do not say how the RAID is mounted, I am going to guess it is in the G5 internal dual bays. In that configuration I have seen problems between two Maxtors in the past. If it was my Mac I would remove the RAID and use one of the Maxtor 250GB drives as my boot drive. I would remove the second Maxtor while setting up the first one. After the first drive is configured as the boot drive I would install the second Maxtor and reformat it. This fixed my problem with two Maxtor SATA hard drives in the Apple bays in a G5.
When using the Apple SATA bus I have not seen a huge improvement using two drives as a striped RAID set vs using a single boot drive with a second drive for user files. The only time the RAID will be faster is when copying or duplicating large files on the boot disk and I do not find this to be a frequent activity for me.
I hope this helps,
Michael

• Windows 7 Backup is Failing with error 0x81000101

Hello,
My windows 7 backup is failing with the following message "Error Code: 0x81000101". I searched the internet but didn't find any good solution.
Can you please tell me what should I do?

If none of the above worked read this next
Did your computer come with a Recovery Partition on the drive? (Check the computers documentation)
If it did, you cannot have any backup software or System Restore set to backup or monitor that drive.
Go to Control Panel.
Click on Classic View in the Task Pane.
Double click System.
Select Advanced System Settings in the Tasks Pane.
Click the System Protection Tab.
In the Available Disks section, make sure that the backup partition is not selected. If it is, remove the check mark.
After this is done or if this does not work, go to Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools and click on Disk Cleanup.
In the Options dialog, select 'Files from all users on this computer'. Click the C: system drive. When the scan is completed, click the 'More Options' Tab. In the 'System Restore and Shadow Copies' section, click the 'Cleanup' button. In the 'Are you sure......' popup, click Delete. Click OK.
Wait for the Disk Cleanup to complete.
Now, go back into Disk Cleanup and follow the same procedure for any other drives that appear in the drop down menu where you selected the C: drive the first time.
Exit everything and reboot the computer.
After the computer reboots, check System Restore again. If System Restore is still not working, go back into System Protection and turn off System Restore for all drives and reboot the computer again. This will delete all restore points on all drives.
After the reboot, go back and enable System Restore for the C: volume only. Create a new restore point for that drive.
Let me know the results.

I cannot see the available sites from visual studio, and cannot connect to azure server from visual studio
It seems this problem is a general problem of connection to azure via visual studio..

Updating iphone 4 to iOS 5 - while doing the Backup I receive an error message no 402636788 - backup has failed. Can anybody tell me what this means or how I can fix this?
I am working on a Win 7 Machine and I have disabled all Firewall and Antivirus Tasks as this caused problems on an other update.

Well - I synced before - that was successful - but I am a bit scared to ignore this error and just to continue? You think I should ignore that?

• Web deployment task failed. (Unknown ProviderOption:DefiningProjectFullPath. Known ProviderOptions are:skipInvalid.)

Hi to all,
I'm failling to publish my website to azure due this error:
Web deployment task failed. (Unknown ProviderOption:DefiningProjectFullPath. Known ProviderOptions are:skipInvalid.)
Guys I really need your help

Hi
how are you trying to publish to your site, using Visual Studio? msdeploy.exe? what is your command line?
could you turn on application logging on the server and try again?  Just go to your site settings under
https://manage.windowsazure.com, and then go to the "configure" tab.  Under the configure tab, there will be a section called "application diagnostics".  Turn on application logging
for File System, and change the logging level to "Error".  Make sure to save your changes.
Reproduce the failure and then open the site log files under d:\home\logFiles\SiteExtensions\MSDeploy. you can use Kudu Console by browsing
to “https://{sitename}.scm.azurewebsites.net/DebugConsole.  Then navigate to d:\home\logFiles\SiteExtensions\MSDeploy and open the latest text file under there and send the error back.
Thanks, Hosam

• No HDD Recovery Area, Windows 7 backup process fails.

(similar problem to Mr. archegudnam posting)
This new Toshiba NB205 Running Win7 consistently fails attempts to use the Recovery Media Creator.
"No HDD Recovery Area" is the quoted cause. However, the Windows Administrator Disk Management Tool reports the partition to be healthy.
Additionally, Windows Backup Tool fails. No backup media is created, including disk image option failure, regardless the backup data selection criteria (windows choose or I choose ). Following the logs to the failure report indicated, specify an "unsupported file system".
All available updates (Windows and Toshiba) have been requested via automatic update tools.

Mr. archegudnam
You are not alone. I have a new Toshiba NB205 running Windows7, and I too receive the message "No HDD Recovery Area" from the OEM Toshiba Recovery Media Creator s/w bundled on the machine, as received at purchase.
Using Windows Backup also fails, sees an "unsupported file system", will not back up or even create a simple disk image.
The only thing I have not tried yet is the image creator built into the u-lead s/s bundled with the Toshiba CD/DVD (USB) Optical Drive accessory, the one advertised alongside the NB205 on Toshiba web site.
Mr. Jim - Is there any help from Toshiba on the horizon for this issue? I have already attempted to find posted updates with the built-in update tool.
Best Regards to both,

• Script task fails to send mail to GMAIL

Hi   guys ,
       I am new here and i am glad i that i am here.  I am working in a company  as SQL Server developer(T-sql), i am learning SSIS because  i wanted to move to data warehousing.
I not familiar and i don't know any thing about  C#,  but i am learning SSIS on my own.
I tried to send mail to gmail  using script task , both sender and receiver with same mail ID using variables which i tried using tutorial i found from the below link.
http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/85172/Send-Email-from-SSIS-with-option-to-indicate-Email
but finally when i execute the task , it returns failure message and email is not sent.
SSIS package "Send mail using script task.dtsx" starting.
Error: 0x8 at Script Task: The script returned a failure result.
Task failed: Script Task
SSIS package "Send mail using script task.dtsx" finished: Success.
Below message taken from progress tab
Error: The script returned a failure result.
Can you all please help me in  finding where i am going wrong? please check below code which i have used in script task.
Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Script Task
Write scripts using Microsoft Visual C# 2008.
The ScriptMain is the entry point class of the script.
using System;
using System.Data;
using Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime;
using System.Windows.Forms;
using System.Text.RegularExpressions;
using System.Net.Mail;
namespace ST_9bc84810a62a401aa44ddd905bcd369d.csproj
[System.AddIn.AddIn("ScriptMain", Version = "1.0", Publisher = "", Description = "")]
public partial class ScriptMain : Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.ScriptTask.VSTARTScriptObjectModelBase
#region VSTA generated code
enum ScriptResults
Success = Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DTSExecResult.Success,
Failure = Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DTSExecResult.Failure
#endregion
The execution engine calls this method when the task executes.
To access the object model, use the Dts property. Connections, variables, events,
and logging features are available as members of the Dts property as shown in the following examples.
To reference a variable, call Dts.Variables["MyCaseSensitiveVariableName"].Value;
To post a log entry, call Dts.Log("This is my log text", 999, null);
To fire an event, call Dts.Events.FireInformation(99, "test", "hit the help message", "", 0, true);
To use the connections collection use something like the following:
ConnectionManager cm = Dts.Connections.Add("OLEDB");
cm.ConnectionString = "Data Source=localhost;Initial Catalog=AdventureWorks;Provider=SQLNCLI10;Integrated Security=SSPI;Auto Translate=False;";
Before returning from this method, set the value of Dts.TaskResult to indicate success or failure.
To open Help, press F1.
public void Main()
string sSubject = "Test Subject";
string sBody = "Test Message";
int iPriority = 2;
if (SendMail(sSubject, sBody, iPriority))
Dts.TaskResult = (int)ScriptResults.Success;

Dts.TaskResult = (int)ScriptResults.Failure;
