Site edit not recognizing index.htm file

Going through the Site/Edit function to change server
information, DW told me it can't find the index.htm file. Waiting
on more information from the host - beside the new IP address, the
password has been changed and the upload path.
While I'm waiting on that info want to make sure there's not
something on my end that could be wrong. The file is in the root
directory, the name has not changed, and the default file extension
is set to .htm. Is there something I could have done to cause this?
The site's been up for years, and I last changed it successfully
last month or the month before.

> it can't find the index.htm file
No, it's telling you that you haven't told it which file is
your home page.
Find it, right click, and choose "Set as Home Page". Bada
bing, bada boom.

  • Why did my index.htm file generate blank? and other weirdness.

Here's the story. Maybe someone can tell me where I made my mistake, or what happened. I'm numbering the steps for convenience in discussing this.
    1) I started a new project, a WebHelp project.
    2) I imported content in Word.
    3) I created an index, glossary, and TOC. I used wizards for some of this.
    4) I created a style sheet and applied it to all the topics.
    5) I added a skin from the gallery.
    6) I generated output.
Then I sent that output to the UI developer on my project. He plugged it in to the web app, and it seemed to work fine. So then:
    7) I opened the project, edited the text, and removed glossary links (because I didn't like how they were working) individually.
    8) I generated a new TOC to match the changed topic structure (minor changes).
    9) I generated another output.
I sent that output to the UI developer and he said it was blank. I opened index.htm and sure enough, it was indeed blank. In fact, it was Zero KB. I also noticed that four other files were blank: whfform.htm, whform.js, whskin_plist.htm, and whtbar.js.
So then I decided to start over. I created a new project, imported just the html topic files from the old project, redid the index (in a  hasty and less thorough manner), decided to bail on the glossary for now, did a TOC and sent that to the developer.
Now the Search pane is totally wonky, showing a list of characters and terms.
So I am getting frustrated. The developer has tried monkeying around with stuff on his end, but it's not working. So he says, why don't you send me a build with everything?
The problem is, I have two broken builds. The first one, which for whatever reason has the blank index.htm file (and other blank files), and the second one, which has no glossary, a messy index, and a screwed up search.
I can't seem to find anyone else having this problem. :-/  Can someone help?
    Thanks so much,
    Tamarleigh

I am having the exact same problem, and I think I've figured out what is happening here. There is an issue when mapping Word styles into RH. The person who setup our Word template included a sidehead with conditional text to hide instructor notes when printing participant training manuals. I removed the conditional text, and everything is working fine. You may want to double check to make sure you don't have conditional text in your Word docs. I've uploaded an image with the code below to show how the conditional text looked when the document was linked and generated.
    Check out the code below:
    <table cellspacing="0">
              <tr>
                        <td style="vertical-align: top; padding-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px;

  • Renaming the index.htm file

Folks - I welcome some help on this one!
I'm running RoboHelp 9, and authoring a help system for a dev group whose buildmeister has requested I rename (if possible) RoboHelp's compiled 'index.htm' file to something else, so as not to conflict with another index.htm file that apparently is part of this software build. I'm assuming this can't be done as a simple File Explorer 'rename', but needs to be defined within the project prior to compiling fresh output. However, I can't find a setting for to accomplish this, and, frankly, don't even know if it's necessary (or possible).
    best,
    Lumpy

    Hello again, Lumpy
In looking at this thread the following thought occurs to me. If your developer is wanting you to rename your start page, it likely means that your WebHelp is just plopped in with other content. And if that's the case, I'd have to think things are severely disorganized. Normally the help sits in its own folder that is separate from whatever application it supports.
I know that often developers suffer the God complex and don;t fathom any possibility they are wrong, but it might be worth asking some questions about the arrangement.
    Cheers... Rick

  • .jpg files created on iphone 4S are not recognized as .jpg files when uploading them to American Heart Assoc. website?

.jpg files created on Iphone 4S are not recognized as .jpg files when uplaoding to American Heart Association fund raising webpage? .jpg's from Canon camera uploaded without any problems? The website automatically reduces the file size to <100kb.

I haven't contacted AHA about this issue. The .jpg files created on Canon SLR uploaded correctly, but the photo from iPhone which was emailed to my PC using MS IE. The .jpg was browsed to from my desktop and is submitted. It shows up in draft form then when uploading it fails saying it is not a .jpg file or .png file? I have had other issues in the past emailing iPhone pictures. They were not editable after being sent to a PC. I guess we can retake photos with a non-Apple camera.

  • Trying to move my iTunes Music and other media from the main drive on my pc to an external hard drive but iTunes is not recognizing the new file location?  Ideas?

Trying to move my iTunes Music and other media from the main drive on my pc to an external hard drive but iTunes is not recognizing the new file location?  Ideas?

    Hello there, Underwriter.
The following Knowledge Base article provides in-depth instructions on how to migrate your content to an external drive:
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527
Particularly of note for your situation:
    External drive
This option requires more work than Home Sharing, but it creates a backup of your iTunes library on the external drive in addition to moving your content.
    Notes before you start:
You can use most iPods as an external drive.
Windows operating systems don't recognize Mac OS-formatted disks (HFS or HFS Plus formats). Because of this, you can't use a Mac-formatted iPod or external drive to move your music to a Windows PC. See iPod: How to determine iPod's hard disk format if you're not sure how your iPod is formatted.
Mac OS X can read Windows-formatted iPods and drives. This means there are many ways to migrate your information from your old Windows-based PC to your new Mac.
Mac OS X: To be sure external drives appear on your desktop, choose Preferences from the Finder menu. Be sure the options for "External disks" and "Hard disks" are enabled.
Part 1: Locating and consolidating the iTunes Media folder
Part 2: Copy iTunes folder from the old computer:
Part 3: Get iTunes ready on your new computer
Part 4: Back up any music that's already on your new computer
Part 5: Copy music to your new computer
Part 6: Add preexisting music that was on the new computer back into the library
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • Why is my Photoshop CS3 not recognizing my NEF file from my new Nikon D7100, but will recognize NEF's from my old Nikon D90?

Help... Why is my Photoshop CS3 not recognizing my NEF file from my new Nikon D7100, but will recognize NEF's from my old Nikon D90?

Because many of the camera makers slightly alter their versions of their raw format whenever they release a new camera model.
Nikon does it, Canon does it, and also several other camera makers.
There is not a single version of NEF that all Nikon cameras use, nor a single version of CR2 for all Canon models.
Here is a list of supported cameras and the required ACR plugin needed to open the raw files.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
Versions of ACR are specific to each version of Photoshop.
Older versions of PS cannot use the latest version of ACR.
You need to download the latest version of Adobe DNG Converter.
This will convert your newer 7100 files to DNGs that can then be opened in older versions like CS3.
Be aware DNG only works on folders of files, not individual files. Select the FOLDER not a single file

  • Premiere's not recognizing my avi files

I have a bunch of avi files that I made a few years ago.  I can't remember what codecs were used exactly.  I now have need to use this files again and do some editing to them but Premiere's not recognizing them for some reason.  CS6 imports the audio but not the video and CC won't import them at all.  The video's play fine off the desktop but won't work with Premiere.  Anybody have any suggestions on how I might be able to get these working?  Maybe recommend a program I can download to convert them?  I have the entire creative cloud so there might even be another adobe program that could help me with this that I'm just not aware of.
    Thanks

  • Not Using Index on File Server When Accessing User Files Directly on Server

It appears to me that on a server with an indexed network share (Desktop Experience and Search Indexing roles/features installed), if you access the share directly on the server using its drive path, you can search the folders using the index, which
is much faster and supports finding words inside of the files in seconds). However, if you access the same shared folder via its network path from the server itself, the server ignores the index. I have this experience/problem across all shared folders on
the Windows 2012 R2 Server. Details and my most specific goal follows.
In addition to a laptop, I frequently work directly on a Windows Server 2012 R2 computer. We have Redirected Folders set up on DFS (for failover redundancy) so that my Documents folder is in:
\\network\redirections\user\documents. This all works fine on Windows 7 and 8 client computers connected to the network via Offline Files.
The problem is on the server itself. The server has Desktop Experience enabled and Windows Search is installed. If I navigate manually through the DFS root folder to my documents folder, I can search and it properly uses the index. This proves the location
is properly indexed. However, if I access the folders through the official "Documents" folder from the Folder Redirection (a network share pointing to the same server computer I'm working on), it performs an un-indexed search (slow and ignores file
contents, but does find files eventually if the search term is in their filename). Is there a way to force the server to use the indexed search on the Redirected Folders (my Documents folder in particular) when working on that server when logged in locally
    on that server?
I suspect a workaround would be to go into the Registry and manually change the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders to point to the local DFS folder instead of the network share name, but at least one problem
with this is then if I save files with links to other files (e.g., a linked Excel table in a PowerPoint, a mail merge to Access database in Word, etc.) on the server computer, those links will point to d:\DFSroot\... (a physical drive on the computer) instead
of \\network\redirections\user\... (a universally accessible network path) and so none of the other computers will be able to find the linked files, defeating one of the
major benefits of using Redirected Folders.
I can't believe that I need to choose between indexed searching and proper path names in saved files. Surely there is a way to use an indexed search on the server itself?
If you need any more info to help me troubleshoot, please let me know.
    Thanks for any help,
    Colin

    Hi Colin,
It seems that we can not use indexed search on DFS shares. Windows Search works well when users directly access the server. That is, the server is not made available through Distributed File System (DFS).

  • MSI GTX770 OC Edition not recognized by PC

Hello, I recently build my pc, and found out that my pc doesn't recognize my graphics card (MSI GTX 770 2GB OC). I can't install drivers, since it doesn't recognize it. At first everything didn't work, but I changed pci slot and the fans started turning. Is my gpu DOA or did I do something wrong? The oddest thing happens. When I remove the GPU, I can start up perfectly thanks to Intel Integrated Graphics, however, when I put it in Pci slot 1, the screen is black. When I put it in pci slot 2, it starts up fine

Disable Win8 feature in bios. Also make sure the tool successfully prepared the stick before rebooting. If no go use the forum tools option to fix the usb stick and restart preparing the bios file with the tool.
So I succesfully flashed, but my gpu is still not recognized by my pc. I tried installing the drivers and it still didn't work
    What now?

  • Xmp edits not recognized after clicking "done" in ACR or Bridge

.cr2 files... i open them in either Bridge or Photoshop to the ACR panel, make changes, click DONE.  when i reopen them to, say, make futher changes or process a whole bunch of files, all settings are back to default, all adjustments forgotten.   this seems to happen often, but NOT always.  weird.
using MAC  10.6.8     photoshop CS6 with latest updates installed.... this has happened for awhile, though...  cannot find a suitable answer on the forum. JEFF SCHEWE? OBIWAN KANOBI?  anyone?  this is FRUSTRATING

There have been a few users that have exactly your problem, raw edits do not take, on some, but not all images.  In  those cases it turned out the camera clock setting was an hour or two ahead of time so the program would not make in changes.  Computer figured the pictures had not been taken yet and you can not edit for future possibilities I guess.
Anyways syncing the camera to correct time worked so edits would be executed.

  • Photoshop CS6 is not recognizing the raw file from the Nikon D4S.

Just picked up the Nikon D4S, took some shots to get acclimated and glad I did. When I uploaded them my PS program is telling me, "Camera Raw cannot open this file."  Than when I tried to edit an older image from my Nikon D300S I was getting the same message.
Can anyone help? I believe I have the most current Camera Raw.
    Thank You, Tami

I have Camera Raw 8.1. I found that I needed 8.4, so I downloaded the 8.4 converter plug in and I was able to open the images. However, I had to go through a few steps & than wait for the files to be converted to a dng file. I hope I don't have to go through these steps every time? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks so much,

  • Acrobat Pro XI is not recognizing Word 2013 files when I try to combine files in a single PDF. Please help.

I recently upgraded to Office 2013. Everything seems to be working fine with Acrobat Pro XI, except when I try to combine Word 2013 files into a single PDF, I get this message: "Acrobat does not support the conversion of one or more of your files to PDF. . . ." Please help. Thanks.

I've opened both Word and Excel. The Acrobat ribbon is showing in both programs and I did some test things and they seem to be working fine. However,  I still cannot see or use formats other than pdf in the Acrobat Pro program. Is there another setting that needs to be adjusted?

  • CS6 is not recognizing my PNG files

    Hi Everyone,
I cnanot find a PNG forum for the life of me and I cannot open any of my PNG files in CS6. Where do I go for that question? Can someone please point me in the right forum??
    Thanks!
    Angela

Thanks Curt Y. (I am logged in now as a different person for some reason.. not sure where my previous user name appeared..) In any case, I looked in Bridge and the PNG is not listed under anything.. as if it were wiped out from Adobe completely. Why is that? What could have caused that? The picture itself is visible in Bridge and in mini bridge but I cannot open it no matter how hard I try.

  • After Effects CS6: Canon .CR2 RAW files not recognized as acceptable files for import?

    HI Folks,
I'm trying to import as I've seen on tutorials, my RAW files from my Canon 5D3  .CR2 files.  I can open them in PS and LR5….and I'd seen examples of folks opening them with AE CS6 standalone, but it doesn't seem to recognize mine.
Any thoughts? Is there something I need to update, or flag or change?
    I'm on a mac, OSX 10.7.5
    AE verson: 11.0.4.2
This is what my import screen looks like:
    Thanks in advance,

I read through those linked pages, but they didn't give me any solution.
After nosing around through a LOT of sites on Adobe's site (why aren't pages dated, took forever to find the most up to date or pertinent pages)…I found this one that was slightly related, but worked for me.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/kb/acr-84-bridge-cs6-metadata.html
I had to download this zip, and manually place the plugin as directed, and now, After Effects CS6 will recognize my CR2 raw files from my canon 5D3.
Thank you for the help, it led me in the right direction, but the link above was the actual solution I found that worked!!

This week I bought a new camera, Canon T2 i (550D), and also upgraded from PSE 7 to PSE8.
The PSE prgram does not recognize RAW files from the Canon T2i camera.
However, it does recognize the RAW files shot with the previous Canon Rebel XTi camera.
I have spend hours trying to figure this out and find different settings to solve this.
    Can anyone help?

You need to download and install the latest version (5.7) of the Adobe Camera Raw plug-in:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4685
Be sure to follow the manual installation instructions on that page precisely.
