Site info disappears

I am running Dreamweaver 8.0.1 on a PC/XP. Suddenly, DW no
longer maintains the remote info for all of my configured sites. It
retains everything except the login name and password, even though
the save info checkbox is ticked. Once I re-enter the info, DW ftp
works during the current session. If I quit and restart DW, the
login and password are missing again.
This is a really frustrating bug. Does anyone have a
fix?

Which DW? Did you ever back up your site definitions with
Site Manager >
Export?

  • Managed sites have disappeared

I manage over 30 sites with DreamWeaver.
This morning when I opened DW, all sites have disappeared.
    Has anyone experienced this problem?
I am on a Mac OS 10.6.8 using Dreamweaver CC

Are the actual folders & files still on your hard drive?
I have no idea what could have caused the issue, but you can create new site definitions pretty easily from the files on your HD if they're still there.
Site > New Site > under Local Site Folder browse to the existing folder for each site
You'll have to enter the FTP info manually though.

  • Recovering Dreamweaver 3 preference and site info, ultimately migrating to cs5.5 on Windows XP

I had a hard drive failure in windows xp and have reinstalled windows xp and dreamweaver 3.  I have a backup of all my dreamweaver 3 files from the old machine, for example &sitename.dws, &sitename Changed.txt, &sitename Live.dws, &sitename Changed.txt.  I would like to have all my preferences, ftp info, etc. restored but cannot find any documentation on how to do that in Dreamweaver 3.
I tried replacing the following files with the backup versions:
    C:\Progam Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver3\Configuration\SiteCache
    C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver3\Configuration\SourceFormat.txt
as these were the only files I saw that appeared to have been modified by using Dreamweaver on the XP machine before the drive failure.
Is there any Dreamweaver 3 documentation about the names of preferences files, site files, and how to replace the default install files with backed up versions?
All help is sincerely appreciated as I have not been able to figure this out on my own.  I considered just replacing all the DW install files with my backup, but that would probably mess up the registry and I can't chance that.
Ultimately I will be moving to CS5.5--if I ever get my backed up information into my newly installed Dreamweaver 3, is there a way to migrate those preferences, site info, etc. to CS5.5?

Murray 'ACP', you are correct--DW3 does not have the option to back up to *.ste files, so I believe that pzciena is correct in stating that site information in DW3 is found in the registry and I can't recover that using files from my drive backup.  The reason I asked the question is because I am having trouble when using the FTP "Put" function to FTP files over to my website. The "Put" operation creates a subdirectory to the root file on the host.
The host directory is named "web" and I specify /web in my dreamweaver remote host site definition.  The "Put" operation creates a subdirectory using the same name as my local files subdirectory.  That is, on the local side, the file I am "put"ting is in subdirectory /hostsave and when it FTPs to the remote side, it creates a directory named "hostsave".  I deleted that directory on the remote side and tried FTPing a second time and it created the directory again.  This does not happen if I use Ipswitch to FTP the file, but I would prefer using the file transfer within dreamweaver since it checks to make sure I'm ftping all the image files in the .html file I'm PUTting.
I obviously have not re-created something correctly in redefining my site.  ????

    Hi Mac Attack,
My computer will not disconnect from the internet.  It seems to find a clone router and continues even when I shut down and unplug my my own home iy
Your main question was 'chopped' in the title. Please reply in the body of a reply box with the full question and anything you have tried. And no, the long report was not helpful .
If the same website is opening each time you launch a browser (Safari?) hold down the shift key as you launch to prevent previous pages from opening.
Have a look at your settings in Safari > Preferences. Especially General and Privacy.
Reset Safari to remove cookies and other stored data.
    System Preferences > General
Have a look at your settings in System Preferences >  Security & Privacy.
    Call back with more questions.

  • My Default Website Folder & Manage Sites info Not Appearing

The pop up box on the right with the Files, Assets, and Snippets has somehow changed my default "AAA_WebSite" folder under the Files tab to show "Computer." I can still drill down to the correct folder, but since it's not set to the correct folder, all my "Manage Sites" info is missing as well.
    Any thoughts?

If you're referring to what I think you're referring to, that's the Site Manager dropdown box where you can quick jump between sites in DW and select which site you want to work on.
Click the box (where it says Computer) and select "AAA_WebSite" from the dropdown menu.
If I've mis-understood, feel free to repost.

  • Web gallery site info presets

Can anyone tell me how to remove old and unused site info presets, have tried many ways but no success.
    thanks

I suspect the original poster means not presets but the drop down list of most recently-used entries in the Site Info panel's various fields. I don't think there's a way to clear this list (short of hacking into the database).

  • In trying to transfer iWeb pages (not uploaded) to another computer I went into the library and transferred the domain onto the desktop. Disaster! On opening iWeb all previous (uploaded) sites have disappeared. Help!

In trying to transfer iWeb pages (not uploaded) to another computer I went into the Library and transferred the domain onto the desktop. Disaster! On opening iWeb all previous (uploaded) sites have disappeared. On opening the domain all I can recover is the many component parts, and when unzipped the code. Help! Mike

Code in a domain file - really?  That is not possible because the domain.sites file does not contain any html or css code at all - the domain file is your iWeb data file and you won't see any code until you publish your website.
If you can see html code, then you have the wrong file and it is a published version of your site which iWeb can do nothing with - iWeb has no import facility so cannot open any html files.
Go back and ensure that you have the correct domain.sites files that can be found under your User Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites and if you have Mavericks then you need to go to Go and press the alt key to reveal your hidden User Library, so that you can then get to Application Support and then iWeb and then your domain.sites file.
You will also need to go and download either DomainCracker or iWebSwitch which allows you to open individual domain files under Mavericks, because from Lion onwards, you cannot open individual domain files.
Also, it says that you are still using iWeb 08?  If this is so, you'll either need to upgrade to iWeb 09 by going to Amazon and purchasing the iLife 09 or 11 boxed set, both of which contain iWeb 09 or you need to switch to newer software that is actively being supported and developed such as EverWeb (http://www.everwebapp.com).

  • Recovering website without domain, have all site info

    Hi
I have changed to a new computer and don't have my domain file, however I do have the folder that I published all the site info to. Is there an approach to rebuilding the site using the published site info?

    Is there an approach
to rebuilding the site using the published site info?
You can try to recreate your site inside iWeb using copy/paste from your published files. There is no way to bring the published stuff directly into iWeb if you do not have the domain file that created it.

  • Info disappeared when I rebooted my computer!

I have just rebooted my computer and reinstalled all the programs I need, including iTunes. Of course I saved all of my music and my iTunes library file before I rebooted. Almost all the info I added about the music in my library is still there, but with an emphasis on "almost". I have the Swedish version of iTunes installed, so I don't know if I get the names of things correct so I can explain my problem, but I will try.
When I right click a song in my library and choose "Show info" and then choose the "Alternative" tab there are some boxes you can check. There is one box that you can check if you don't want a song to be played when you play your library in mixed mode, so I have gone through all my songs and checked the songs that I want to be skipped when I play my library in mixed order. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Anyway, when I rebooted my computer this info disappeared. So I guess this info has to be stored somewhere else than in the iTunes library file. So does anyone know where it is stored so this doesn't happen to me again?
I would really, really appreciate the help with this! Thanks!

Maybe it is "Skip when shuffling" on the Options tab?
I never use that feature, but I believe that is the English translation. It's an iTunes feature, so if it's not stored in the ITL file, I don't knw where it would be.
I changed it on one song and looked at the XML entry for that song. Nothing changed...it must be in that ITL file that nobody but Apple knows what goes in it!

  • Manage Sites - All my existing Sites have disappeared..?

I have recently recovered form a hard drive crash and set up a new home directory.
When I open the <Manage Sites> dialog box in Dreamweaver CS4 all of my existing sites have disappeared and the list is empty.'
If I track the path in Finder <username/library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS4/en-US/configuration.SiteCache> I can see that all of the sites are still listed in folders there.
Is there a way to redirect Dreamweaver to see these existing sites?
If not, can someone suggest the best way to recover from this/
    Thanks

Correct - in order to keep those that are currently on the iPad they need to stay checked, and additional albums that you check will be added to those that are already on the iPad. Synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, they can only be deleted by un-checking/de-selecting them on that tab.

  • Create a Fully Integrated Layout & Remove Site Info, Site Title, Etc.

Hey everyone. I'm really new to Lightroom so this may be something really simple I overlooked. How do you get rid of extra fields in the lightroom templates that you don't want, specifically the site information?
I want to create a flash gallery that integrates fully into my website. I want it to be a page with just the thumbnails in a simple grid pattern where when you click the thumbnail the full image pops up over the screen (the way it would if using javascript).
I don't want anything else. No slideshow, no site info, no title bar, none of that, because this is going to be inserted into a page on my website. It's not going to be its own site.
Is there a way to create a completely custom template like that with Lightroom or are you stuck using layouts based on their designs?

To remove the headers, etc. once the gallery has been created edit the file called style.xml, found in the resources>styles folder of your created gallery. There are true/false entries for things like the header. You can also change the fonts, etc. with more control than is afforded from within LR.
The two lines you're looking for are
    (line 57)
    (line 64)
    Change true to false
As far as achieving the exact configuration you've described, I don't believe it's possible in LR. LR doesn't offer a thumbnail grid to big pic and back kind of scheme. It would be nice. I did a search a while back and there weren't many Flash gallery scripts designed this way. I think the Jet Photo script does it.
Of course there's all the lightbox type javascripts. The TTG Slimbox has been ported to LR, but it's javascript.

  • Client Site info on Dreamweaver

Every once in awhile Dreamweaver drops ALL my clients site
info after entering 40 + client sites & I have to re-enter them
all...it's a real pain. Anyone else have this issue? and can it be
    fixed.

If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a high value can cause such issues.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems, make sure that the window is not maximized:
    *<b>View > Zoom > Reset</b> (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)

  • Info disappears in itunes are importing

    Hi,
When i transfer songs that i have downloaded into itunes, that works fine. However when i then edit the info some of the info disappears.
An example: Artist Title and Name of Song after imported on the same line and then when i move the Artist to the Artist line and keep Name on the correct line. I right click and then press edit info but half the line disappears. This means then i have to type the rest of the info back in.
This only seems to happen after version 9 of itunes as before that everything worked. This is really annoying..
Please can someone help, its driving me crazy

Welcome to the club. I just tried to import a CD into iTunes this morning using an external DVD/CD drive and had the same problem. It asks me if I want to import the CD after getting the Gracenote info and when I hit the "YES" button everything goes dead in the drive. If I turn the drive off and then back on it imports OK. I tried an Iomega drive and it does the same thing. I haven't tried the internal drive on the iMac because I want to save that for important stuff (I have a 17" Powerbook, in which the DVD/CD drive went out on me after about two years of use). It cost a bundle to get it fixed so I decided it's a lot easier to replace an external drive ($99 from Other World Computing). I'm still under warranty for my iMac, so I'm going to try to contact Apple support and see if they can help me. I'll get back with you.
