Site layout and color looks different in each browser

I created a site.  When I preview the site in firefox it is just the way   I created it in dreamweaver cs5, but when I preview it in IE the   background color is not the pinkish color I used, it is black and the   subheading is crunched up to the left and not the right.  Also, in   google crome browser, it is perfect except there is a huge gap of space   from the bottom of the page to the footer (It shouldn't have margins but   the margin is very large).  The site is for a client (escort-personal), I hope that someone will be able to help/lead in the right direction.

I see a black background in IE, no doubt caused by truncated #hex color codes in the markup.  Remove the table cell BGColors from your html markup.
Add this to your CSS code:
     td {background: #993300}
FYI, table-based layouts are very old school.  You should be learning to work with CSS Layouts.

  • Colors look different in titler than on timeline

Colors look different in titler than on timeline. Here's a screen grab. The upper image is the program monitor and the lower image is the titler. Both are on the same monitor.
I guess it's a bug and I will report it but I wonder if anyone else is seeing this.

What is your Premiere Monitor Playback Res set at?
    What is the Preview Setting?
Jims advice is useless in this instance. He expects you to do an output file everytime you make a tweak in Titler or Sequence just to see what you might abitrarily be getting.

  • Split line/tone Pantone swatches of same color look different

QUESTION: In Illustrator I need to split a Pantone color into two different swatches (line and tone). When I duplicate the swatch and rename it with an "L" in front, the color looks different (with overprint preview)! Same CMYK values – I checked. I know it has something to do with how the swatch is named, because if I rename both swatches I don't have this problem. What's going on and how can I fix this?

    John Danek wrote:
Not sure, but I would not recommend renaming Pantone Spot color swatches.  What's the point?  I mean, why would you mess with the names?
I think they wants to use one swatch for certain parts of elements like the stroke and and perhaps the other for fills but of different and not necessarily common paths.
Changing the name make it easier for them to know which is applied to the other. There coud be a reason to keep them separate and to have the names be different to make the work flow effiecient.
I think the reason is that since they are now two different swatches it treats it as two different inks one from the book and the other from a CMYK mix.
It simply does not recognize the second swatch as a book color which would have to be a second plate with the same ink.
You cannot rename a book color.
So unless you were planning to hit the piece with two plates with the same spot color what you want to do is not possible.
I can see where you want this but I see no way of fixing it except a feature request.
Perhaps placing the same swatch in two different color groups?

  • Unable to draw AP Div from Insert Panel as described in Tutorial "Classroom: Basic Site Layout and Navigation in Dreamweaver"

I tried to perform the draw AP Div from the Insert Panel as described within the Tutorial "Classroom: Basic Site Layout and Navigation in Dreamweaver" but that option isn't available/visible from my most recent update t Dreamweaver CC. The only thing noticeable is that the instructor is using a Mac version of the software. Help!

CS4 is 6+ years old.  A lot has changed in web standards and Dreamweaver since then.
APDivs were never a good or sensible way to make primary layouts.  Today, they are downright impossible in Responsive web designs because content in APDivs is removed from the normal document flow.  See links below for further details on why APDivs should be avoided.

If you're going to work with DW CC, you need to find tutorials to match your product version.  CS6 is wildly different from CC and CC 2014.

  • Apple's Alpha Transitions and Color Looks. How to Install and Use?

A few months ago I downloaded the Alpha Transitions and Color Looks from the FCS3 website.
I have just re-discovered the .dmgs on one of my hard drives but my memory is a complete blank!
I cannot remember whether I used them or installed them but seem to recollect reading some instructions somewhere!
Where should they be installed and is there any info on using them?
(Possibly in a few more months I will come across this info that I may have downloaded originally).

Digging around I found most of the answers so will add them here in case anyone else suffers from a similar memory to mine!
The Color Looks .dmg contains the instructions, the main ones being:-
    To install the Color looks
1  Locate the Color Looks folder in the image you downloaded.
2  Select the individual folders in the Color Looks folder and copy them to /Users/username/Library/Application Support/Color/Effects/.
The next time you open Color, the new looks will be available in organized folders in the Color FX bin, located in the Color FX room. Opening the individual folders with categories of looks such as "Blues and Greens" and "Glows" will reveal new Color looks presets that can be applied by double-clicking.
If you like, you can move the default looks that come with Color into these folders, to keep everything organized. You can also save your own Color FX presets into these folders.
As for the Alpha transitions, there is of course just one, found in the Wipes folder, which is modified using the media that comes in the download.

  • Pdf color looks different in preview and acrobat?

I notice that the colors in various PDF files I have look different in Preview and in Acrobat. Is there some weird color profile issue?
To be specific, I can create a PDF file in various ways, of a slide deck I originally created using Keynote. It has various different color blocks in the slides. In particular some acid green colors look very different depending on whether I open the PDF in Acrobat or in Preview.
Preview shows the colors as they were in the original keynote application. But Acrobat shows them far more muted.
I learned from another post that if I create the PDF by first saving to postscript and then creating the PDF using Acrobat, the issue seems to go away. However this is very inconvenient.
In short, it seems as though there is some peculiar difference between the way Preview and Keynote (and probably Pages ) handle color and the way Acrobat handles color.
Is there some way to fix this using some setting in one of the programs?
By the way, this is not a new problem. I noticed it with previous OS's as well as previous versions of Keynote. I am currently using the latest version of everything.

Same problem here. I was printing a PDF that my designer had sent me. Before I have always used Acrobat, but I've started using Preview in Leopard since it's faster and more powerful than before. But the colors were seriously wrong, often reversed completely. I believe this file was originally created in Illustrator.

  • Cyrillic font in google and some other sites like Wikipedia are looking different in Win XP and Win 7

    Good day, gents.
Yesterday I installed 4 beta on my desktop after succesfull using it on laptop. But when i opened google (and some other sites) i found that fonts are looking different with the same settings. Here screens:

http://i56.tinypic.com/5nw47l.jpg - Desktop, Win 7 Ultimate (Looks terrible, those Times New Roman makes me mad)
I tried reinstall, clearing cashe. In Firefox 3.6.9 on Desktop fonts was normal.
How to resolve this ? Thanks and sorry for my English.

  • Color Looks Different in Aperture Viewer Compared to Full Screen

The color in my photos looks different depending on how I view them. In Aperture's Viewer and in Photoshop Elements 6, it looks what I consider to be normal. In Aperture's Full Screen view, and in other applications such as Preview and Safari, the colors look super-saturated: much more vibrant than in real life.
The photos were imported into Aperture as JPEGs, directly from my camera. Previews are turned off in Aperture, and I have it set to export using sRGB. I'm using an external Dell display that's been calibrated with Spyder2 Express. Turning on Onscreen Proofing in Aperture (and trying different profiles) doesn't seem to change the display in the Viewer at all.
How can I make the color in the Viewer match the color in other applications? It's hard to edit when I can't accurately see what I'm doing.

Thanks for the quick and helpful reply! I didn't know there was such a thing as a default display, but after setting that to the external the photos look good again.
I guess I wasn't using the right search terms, but after reading your reply I was able to find this huge thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1394928&start=0&tstart=0
It seems to me that this is an OS bug, because the images were displaying incorrectly in Preview, Safari, etc. Each display has been calibrated and has a ColorSync profile, and the OS knows which display the window is on, so it should be able to figure out which profile to use.

  • Re-organising site layouts and structures

    Hi
I have a requirement where an organisation wants to re-organise their
existing site structure. They have a number of site collections (1 per department) each SC has a number of sub-sites (team sites).
All SC need to to have a new layout with new webparts on the landing pages. All subsites need to have layout changes and maybe navigation changes also. (I'm still looking at the requirements)
Originally, I was under the impression that I was to build all from scratch, this would have been easier. My idea was to create a feature that would build and configure everthing in new site collections. As existing site collections exist with sub-sites,
how can I achieve the requirements ? All changes need to be mirrored across all existing site collections.
Will this need to be a manual alteration or can it be automated with some sort of template?
    Thanks

Hi, I will do my best to answer each question in order.
In terms of order is it best to build a custom page adding and testing jquery slideshow and then after debug somehow copy this to the VS project?
Yes, I suggest you create a working site collection with sample sub sites and demo pages. Create your custom branding (custom master pages, page layouts, content pages, etc) as well as build custom controls or components such as jQuery sliders. Debug and
get working, then package into VS. Many developers would complain as say always build in VS from the beginning but I find debugging takes significantly longer as you have to recompile/redeploy with every change.
Can VS create branded sub-sites upon activation?
Yes, you will want to use an event receiver or feature stapling. The actual technique you will us will depend on how automated you want the process. If you want everything wrapped up into a large site template, then you can add a root web, sub webs, all
with prefilled content and branding applied when a new site collection is added. This is an advanced VS solution though.
Once the VS project is ready the solution needs to be deployed and activated in other departments. To activate in other departments do I need to create a site collection and then activate the feature?
I suggest you package this all as a site template, thus when a site collection is added, you will select your custom site template. That will mean all sub sites and branding is auto applied for you depending on your custom site template configuration.
Using multiple SC’s can I use a single master page and page layout or will I need to have a master page and page layout for each SC?
Each Site Collection will need its own set of master pages and page layouts. You can have a central repository for css, images, js, etc, though. I good reason why to package branding into a feature so it is more easy to maintain. If you need to update master
pages / page layouts, simply update the feature, redeploy to the server, then deactivate/activate the feature on each site collection using powershell.
Are there any alternatives other than using VS to build this (I thought of simply exporting site as template- though this only exports current site not subsites)
Not that I know of, I recommend the power of a custom site template built in VS.

  • Colors look different in browser window than in InDesign or Photoshop

So, the colors look quite different (brighter) on Kuler (in
my Firefox browser window), than when I download or copy the CMYK
numbers exactly over to InDesign or Photoshop. In Kuler, the colors
are significantly brighter and more saturated than how they appear
    in my design software.
My coworker theorizes that InDesign & Photoshop are
'compensating' for how the color will actually look when printed.
Thoughts? Is there a setting I need to change on either
Firefox or my Adobe software so the colors match up?

I have a similar problem - colours look brigher in Firefox,
IE and Photoshop, darker in Illustrator and Dreamweaver. I've tried
resetting the color settings in Bridge, but still get the same
difference between Photoshop, and Illustrator and Dreamweaver. I
can't understand this at all. I don't know if it has something to
do with the fact that I have a color profile called "Natural Color
Pro" installed on my computer (came with the monitor) which
Photoshop reminds me is faulty every time I open it - I tell it to
ignore the profile. I don't seem to be able to uninstall it for
    some reason.

  • Published a site in iweb but looks different in the web browser

  • Layout and Colors etc.

    Hi
I wonder how the layout of a map is defined with Oracle Spatial. How is it descided that lakes are blue and roads are black etc?
Mapinfo uses sometingh called Map Definition File (.mdf). Can it be used with Map Extreme or is it any similar way to describe the layout?
    Regard Lennart

When you use MapInfo to display Oracle Spatial, you've layout info on the mapinfo_mapcatalog table.
Mapinfo use this table to save the color, symbol, etc of each layer.

  • Pantone Bridge and Solid looks different on screen

Why the same Pantone Coated colour looks different on screen between the Bridge palette and the Solid palette. If I compare the same colour on the 2 printed coated palettes, they look the same

Thank you so much for responding! Here are answers & below screenshot of my Distiller settings:
    Platform = Windows
    Frame version = 8
Rendering workflow = I print to .ps and then distill to PDF.
What settings in Distiller? I tried the "Tag all images for color management" in Distiller with sRGB selected as the color model, but it still came out lime---however, when I chose "Convert All Colors to CMYK" it kept the green color BUT then greyed out my images!!! I have attached a screenshot of the settings---can you see it?
sRGB = The artist had no idea was sRGB was (he is not really helpful at all...).
Any suggestions on how to get my images back...? Thanks so much.

  • 2 files with exact the same PMS color look different

I was working on a print project for my company and all files are created in Illustrator CC. Here is the confusing part, in this logo color file I found from the company inside files, the PMS color code actually matches the CMYK color code, and they look exactly the same on screen:
But on all the files I'm working on, the PMS color looks washed, when using the convert button to convert PMS to CMYK, the code looks different too:
Is there a file color setting I need to change? Besides illustrator, the PMS color in Photoshop cc and InDesign cc all look wash out.

The Color Mode of the swatch only impacts how the the color appears on your monitor. The important thing is that the Color Type always be "Spot Color" regardless of the Color Mode when you're dealing with files for print. If it's set to Spot Color, then exporting the file to film will have a single color pass. If it's set to Process Color you'll get 1-4 color passes when exporting depending on your CMYK values.
For the company's branding guide, you have both color options depending on how the logo will be printed. If you had something that included a photo, then you would want to use the CMYK version of the logo because you're already going to have CMYK values from the photo. Using an additional spot color just for the logo then makes it a 5-color job, thus increasing the cost. If you were printing something that only used black for text and also included the logo, then you would use the PMS version as this makes it a 2-color print job.
In some circumstances you don't have an option of a CMYK break of a PMS color, such as metallics and fluorescents. Some companies only print their logo in a spot color despite having it as part of a 4-color print just due to how a CMYK version of their logo appears. Not every PMS color has a 100% accurate CMYK break. Most frequently the CMYK version is dull compared to the PMS color simply because the gamut for CMYK is not as diverse as the full range of PMS colors are.

  • Why does 44k and 88k look different?

    hi,
ive been using some 88k files for high qual recording, now i want all my files at 44k, so i convert them all, but looking the wave overview the 'level' appears to have dropped to nearly 50% of what it was for each file.
is this just a visual artefact of the way logic shows sample rates, it doesnt sound any quieter.

although the sounds are identical in level shown in any level meter i have.....they 'look' different on screen.
the 88k>44k convert is at the top compared to the original 88k file below it.....this  seems to be a naormal artefact as this often happens when i use pitch time machine to change some samples' speeds......
