Site Looks Different in Firefox ?

Title says it all - the text, pictures are all different from
what it looks like in Internet Explorer. Is there a way to fix it
so it looks alright in ALL browsers?

  • Why does my site look different in chrome, safari and explorer?

    Hi,
My site looks ok in Firefox but it looks different in  chrome, safari and explorer...
I have already tried to clean the cache and delete cookies, what I have to do?
    Thanks for helping!
    Livia

    Hi Livia
I have checked the file and can see that you have used a slideshow for browser background , the page fill is the hero image where the thumbnails are disabled.
If you remove the slideshow then the issue is resolved as the red bar in top and white bar at bottom comes fine with all browsers.
Please remove the slideshow from page background and use the same image as browser fill which will fix the issue.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • Created site in IWEB 08, works on Safari but looks different with Firefox?

I created a site with Iweb 08. I used Safari as the viewing browser and was happy with how the site looked. I then used Fetch to FTP the folder to the web server. When viewing the page on the server with Safari it was great, but when viewed with Firefox it was all frigged up. I didn't try it with Internet Destroyer cause personally I don't like it. I then published the page folder to Web.Mac.Com. The site works great on both browsers when accessed through web.mac.com. Is there something missing when accessing the site on my original server? My thought now is to remove the site from the original server and just bite the bullet and fly it on web.mac.com. Appreciate any thoughts

I think part of my problem was trying to move content made with Dream Weaver into IWEB. My site was made with Dream weaver originally. I pasted it into IWEB, thinking it was possible to do. It was to a point. I had to redo all my links and buttons and so on, but the pictures and text content seemed to look fine. After somewhat completing the site I published to a folder and used Fetch FTP to move the site to the server I was using. That is when i got the different looks in different browsers. I then published to the .mac server as I had a 60 day free trial. Low and behold the site looked good on the 2 browsers I have on my new IMAC. I switched over to the Windows side of the IMAC and logged into the site with IE 7. It looked good there too. So I ended up going with the .mac account to host the site
www.unitedpuett.com. I then had to redirect from Network Solutions, my registrar for the site, so when the address was typed in it would direct to the .mac server. This was another chore but was solved easily by
    http://networkcreators.ning.com/profiles/blog/show?id=492224%3ABlogPost%3A50148
It all seems to work as it should.
On another note, i read that Microsoft was releasing IE 8 beta. The big change was they were finally standardizing their browser to match all the others when opening pages.

  • Site looks different in IE vs. Firefox.  Please Help.

    Here's a site that I'm working on: www.beyondtheexterior.org/resources.html
It looks different in IE than it does in Firefox.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Start over.  When you use Photoshop or any other graphics editor to generate your HTML code, you're asking for trouble. The code is too rigid and fragile for anything more than quick prototypes.
Use graphics apps to create images only. Use DW to build your HTML and CSS code.

  • Quicktime video looks different in Firefox and Safari, is there a fix?

My full problem is described in this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4451761
but to keep it simple, my immediate issue is that Safari and Firefox are displaying my video differently. Firefox appears darker and Safari appears brighter. With my monitor set to a gamma of 1.8 (default for OS X) Firefox looks perfect and Safari looks washed out, and with my monitor set to 2.2 (Windows default and all-together better looking) Firefox is too dark and Safari is perfect.
All I want to know is WHY they look different and how to fix this.

Thanks for your response. While this may work with audio and video originating from your own computer it doesn't seem to effect audio and video viewed from the Firefox 5.01 browser which uses a QuickTime plugin. Audio and Video viewed from Safari and Firefox 3.6.19 work fine which leads me to believe the QT plugin and Firefox 5 browser are not working correctly.

  • Published site looks different on mac and pc?

having (finally) published my site, why do the fonts and layout look different on my mac to my husbnad's pc? v odd???

because different browsers interpret CSS files indifferent ways and because fonts that are installed on your mac may not necessarily be installed on your husbands pc. It is a common gripe of web designers (not just those using iWeb) that margins and padding (for example) are all read differently by IE than by FF.

  • Why does my DW site look different depending on computer?

    Here are my specs...
I am using Dreamweaver CS4 on two computers.  One is a 64 bit windows 7 desktop with a 24" widescreen monitor, and the other is a 64 bit windows 7 17" widescreen laptop.  I access the site from both computers using a usb external drive (backed up every night). Because I travel a bit, I find that most of the site work I do is on the laptop.  As one would hope in a WYSIWYG environment, my design view on the laptop is pretty close to what the uploaded site looks like.  Very close.  However, when I do need to work on the desktop, the design view will show divs out of place, way over to the right or left as though pushed or something.  BUT, when I check the preview and/or upload the page and check it online--everything is fine.
I've learned to ignore it if I know it is not affecting the output, but it would be helpful if there is a way to have both views accurate.  Any ideas?

Thanks very much for looking at the code, and I didn't realize about the ampersands. I ran the validator tonight and wow, I'm embarrassed.  I went through and repaired a great deal in my main template page, and tomorrow I will have to go through the other pages and see if I have more. I'm sure I do.  While I was able to fix a lot of the errors, there are still some on this page (main template) that have me confused, and I welcome some wisdom.  After fixing as many errors as I could the following list has me stumped.
The reason I am stumped is because all of these lines are created by Dreamweaver.  I didn't write them.  I have attempted to change the order of the lines, but still come up with validation errrors just in a different order.  Here are the lines as the validation report refer to in my template:  I will put the corresponding numbers at the beginning of the appropriate lines...
Thank you for any suggestions anyone has.

  • My Muse page looks different on Firefox and Chrome - both are the latest versions

On Firefox, my pre-loader wants to load each time it encounters an Edge Animate on my scroll page. Page anchors are slightly changed in Firefox and this messes up my scroll, opacity and Ege Animate triggers.
I'm not sure if this is relevant but I also receive this error message in my browser immediately after exporting to HTML - http://www.broadcastgems.com/mediastreamer5/Muse_js_Error.jpg
    Here's my Muse Webpage - http://www.broadcastgems.com/MoGraphIntensity_ShapesText_PreLoad/
Lastly, I can't get my Form on the said page to work - on both Chrome and FIrefox. I can fill in the boxes but clicking 'Send' doesn't seem to do anything. Also, the text column for "Message" is ridiculously narrow - only 2-3 words long and I can't seem to change this. Visually it looks long but once I start typing it wordwraps after only 2-3 words. I'm using the built-in Form widget that comes with Muse.BTW, the form is right at the bottom of the page/URL I provided in the previous para - you can get there via the menu button, Inquiry.
    Thanks for any assistance
    - Roland

Hi Aish, here's the screen recording I made http://www.broadcastgems.com/mediastreamer5/Muse_Browser_Issue_Jan29_2014_01.zip
Notice how Firefox initiates the Muse pre-loader each time it reaches an Edge Animate object AND how the layout looks different when I use the menu buttons to access page anchors. Unfortunately, I forgot to record the form's Message Text Field, to show how narrow the column is. Any idea on how to fix/enlarge the column for this?
BTW, I just received a form submission that I made a while back - like half an hour ago.
    Cheers
    - Roland

    Hi
They are different because of the way IE/Opera and FF/Safari handle list indents, you will have to change the default margin and padding values to achieve a consistent list positioning, (do not forget negative values are allowed).
See the section on positioning in this article for more info - http://www.alistapart.com/articles/taminglists/.

  • URGENT - Site looks different in different browsers

I am trying to make a website for somebody else but have a
problem befroe moving on and finishing it. I have an email and
password field in the top right hand corner of the site, which all
looks perfect when it is viewed in IE and dreamweaver. The problem
is when it is viewed in Firefox, as everything in the top column of
my table seems to move down.
    You can view it here:
    www.rewardguide.co.uk/freebiejeebies

This will most likley achieve what you are looking for (all
    code below).
The two login buttons will now be vertically central to the
    input fields
and the red image fully shows.

  • Why Does my site look different on my computer

My site, www.aaronapter.com, looks completely different on my computer than when I view it on another computer. It actually looks like my browser is accessing the files from my HD instead of the internet. Any ideas why? I ask because I want to fix some errors on my published site, such as a fonts appearing differently and the spacing of a page being totally messed up. Again, this doesn't happen when I view it on my computer, but it does on others. Any help? I'm using iWeb '08.

Is it just fonts? If so, the challenge is that you're using fonts that are only on your system and not others. There's a bit of a tricky fix but it'll force fonts to be graphics.
I'm not too sure about this approach but it seems simple enough: http://podcast.eusd4kids.org/groups/teacherresources/weblog/a91d4/iWeb__fonts_displayed_asgraphics.html
This appoarch is a tad trickier but I found it easy:
    http://11mystics.com/2007/09/12/how-can-i-ensure-the-fonts-i-use-will-look-good- on-a-pc/
In short, go to Applications, control-click on iWeb and choose Show Package Contents. Then open Contents, then Resources, and then double-click on FontMapping.plist. Look for the special font that you're using and change false/ to true/like this:
    <key>AmericanTypewriter</key>
    <dict>
    <key>Generic</key>
    <string>serif</string>
    <key>Image</key>
    <true/> <=== change this from false/ to true/
    <key>Windows</key>
    <string>Courier New</string>

  • Why does my flash image viewer look different in firefox than in IE...

So I have created a horizontal spry bar that overlaps a flash image viewer slide show. When i load the page in IE everything works fine, but as soon as you open it in firefox it works improperly...you can hit refresh in firefox and sometimes it resizes the image I don't understand how that is possible....if you have any input it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

You need to be aware of the limitations of the various browsers and make sure you use web-safe fonts and colors.....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/WebMusic/FontsandColors.html
Do a Command A on all your pages in iWeb to make sure that objects/text boxes are not touching or overlapping.
Firefox has problems with displaying drop shadows/frames etc.
To get help with specific issues you would need to tell us the URL of our site.

  • Font on Facebook looks different on Firefox than IE?

On IE, the font looks clearer, darker and smoother but on Firefox it looks bigger, fader and rigid. Why?
I previously fixed this problem by tweaking the about:config on Firefox. Changed the value of
    gfx.font_rendering.cleartype_params.rendering_mode to 0.
But now it doesn't work anymore. I am using Windows 8 OS.

How it looks on IE and Firefox respectively:

  • Why does my site look different when I FTP it?

Hi -- I am doing a clean upload (All files) of my site to my BlueHost FTP site.  Here is how it looks in Publish mode
    http://thebigdivide.businesscatalyst.com/gift-shops-selling-the-big-divide.html
and here is how it looks on my site
    http://thebigdivide.com/gift-shops-selling-the-big-divide.html
What is going on here? Is there a file I need to delete?

    By gum that was it.
I have no idea how you figured that out but thanks.
