Site Manager Misbehaviour

I have a persistent and very annoying problem with the site
manager, and I wonder if anyone here can shed some light.
Whenever a users opens the Dreamweaver (MX 2004) site manager
with the local version of the site set to a folder on a shared
drive it opens up a bunch of connections to the folders being
managed. It appears that there is a connection leak, because after
a while the number of connections grows to over 50 and my file
server (a LaCie Ethernet Disk, which is a little machine running XP
embedded) starts to throw errors about being unable to allocate
work units and running out of nonpaged pool memory. To restore
order I have to log in to the server and manually close the
connections, or have the offending user(s) close Dreamweaver
completely (just closing the site manager doesn't seem to help).
Has anyone else seen this connection leaking behaviour? I've
searched the forums and knowledge base, and can't find any
references to it.
Cheers,
Rodd

Search for FTP login, or IE7, please. Anyhow it's the recent
installation
of IE7 that is the problem.

  • How do I create a non-apple ID account for a new adminstrator for a Podcast Site Manager

http://myinfo.apple.com is inoperable.  I need to create a new account for an Administrator for our Podcast Site Manager account.  We have one that no one can access.  Can someone assist or point me in the direction of someone at APPLE that can?  I called their helpdesk and THEY couldn't even help.
    Concerned...

I'm afraid I don't know anything about this: it doesn't appear to be relevant to ordinary podcasts. Is this an iTunes-U matter? - perhaps that forum would help.

  • I can't find the Secure Zone in my Site-Manager.

I'm a creative cloud member and I can't find the Secure Zone in my Site-Manager. There are only Web-Formulars and System-E-Mails. What do I have to do?

Hi there, the creative cloud site you get is only a web basic plan. You do not have those features, you will need to upgrade if you want them.

  • Business Catalyst Site Manager Only Showing Web Forms

I am having a horrible time trying to just apply and setup a template in business catalyst. I have gotten to the point where you add the HTML {tag_pagecontent} into a page in muse. Now I went to my admin panel and went to the site manager drop down. All it shows is web forms and system emails! Isn't there supposed to be buttons for templates etc?! I hope someone has the answers, btw I am using a trial site currently but that shouldn't make a difference right? Thanks in advance.

I figured it out, I had to click on my name in the right corner within the BC admin. Then click on my details and scroll down and check box the "enable web editing" and save. That made all site manager options available.

  • DW8 Site Manager Window

    1. The dropdown menu for sitenames in the SHOW SITE list
selector no longer responds to typing in the first letter of the
site and the list zips to that alphabetical point in the list.
Previous versions did this, as is window standard for dropdown
    menus.
    2. WHen minimizing the DW main window, using the
click-on-taskbar DW icon, the Site manager window is left showing.
If the Minimize _ top left window standard button (near the X close
button) is used, it minimizes both windows.
    3. Often it seems impossible to get the Local Side of the
Site manager window to Refresh to be the current files listed in
the directory, if, for instance, image files were added outside of
DW. REFRESH, F5, etc. do nothing. Relaunching DW then shows the
    correct up-to-date directory listing.
    4. After how many revisions of DW since DW2(when there was
discussion and "promises" to fulfill these features), there still
seems not to be a feature to provide information (e.g., right click
context menu a filename in the local directory to have this option)
for what files use/point to a particular file or asset. Since DW
already keeps a cross-reference cache of the dependencies, it seems
this is an easy informational list to display. It's very useful in
a number of situations, especially as a precursor to moving a file,
to see if anyone (or who) is dependent on this file. Too, DW is not
always thorough in updating all links and references to assets and
linked files (for instance, (a) there's a difference in behavoir if
you drag a file to another folder vs. cut/paste a file to another
folder; (b) html option dropdown lists sometimes are not updated,
    (c) standard (e.g., imageready-generated) rollover menu image
references are never updated, especially in templates (what a pain
    that is to manage).
    5. Similarly there is no feature in a right-click context
menu (or otherwise) to fabricate/generate an absolute URL (from the
published web site perspective) for a given html file or image
asset. This has to be done manually(typing it in or navigating in a
browser and then copying the URL), but it could so easily be
generated and put in the paste buffer or other usable place.

    wait, are

<shrug> Personally I don't see the need for it, but you
    can always
tell Adobe (telling us here in the user-to-user forum doesn't
    really
do you a whole lot of good, you know?).
When I want to find out what links to a file, I do a global
    search for
the filename. But since I'm rather anal about site
    architecture, file
naming conventions, and keeping good records, I've only ever
    had to do
this when I'm working in a site someone else developed.

    >cut/paste a file to another folder;
Never tried this, to be honest. Since dragging works, why cut
    and
    paste?
In my opinion DW is acting responsibly. If you have cut a
    file from
the list of files, it warns you about existing links to that
    file. If
you proceed with the deletion, it's deleted. Including from
    the file
list. If you then paste the file somewhere else, how is DW
    supposed
to know that you didn't really mean to delete it, you meant
    to move
    it?

    >
That's because those are NOT "standard" menus. The links are
    buried
in JavaScript. If they were standard menus with standard
    links, DW
    could manage them just fine.
Do a search in this forum for posts about the Fireworks
    menus; the
    ImageReady ones are no different.

Guess since I have never seen the need to use absolute URLs
    within a
site, I haven't run into this.
How is DW to know what the absolute URL path is supposed to
    be? And
if you want site root relative links, why not just use site
    root
    relative links?

  • ITunes U Site Manager log in error

    Hello,
Some contributors to Public iTunes U courses/collections in our institution cannot sign in to the iTunes U Site Manager for the last couple of days:
    https://sitemanager.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/DZStudio.woa/wa/SignIn
They get this message: "We're sorry, iTunes Site Manager encountered an error"
We all use iMac or Macbook Pros.
As an iTunes U admin, however, I can log in without any problems.
Has anyone else encountered this problem. Does anyone know what is going on here?
I plan to send iTunes U Support an email about this issue as well.
    Thanks.

    You are welcome, WonderProfessor.
Updating iTunes may not be the reason at all. It could very well be the Support Team has fixed the problem, which i think is the case.
Also, I learned i should report EACH problem to iTunes U Support Team using its Report Form:
    https://ssl.apple.com/support/itunes-u/public-site-manager/contact.html
I used the Report Form a couple of months ago to report a different problem. One tech support person responsded and I have been emailing to that individual via email about a few more issues since then. This, however, is NOT a good practice. Reporting each problem using the report form will help the iTunes Support Team to prioritize the work based on urgency.
Anyway, I am releaved it is working now. Thank you. And thanks to the iTunes U Support Team and iTunes U Editors.

  • Site Manager Tabs Can't be Selected

I've been having the same trouble with the 'root folder' issue as reported by many others, however, I go one further.  Once I resolve the root folder problem, I can't click on any of the site setup tabs (under Site; Site Manager) in CS 5 Dreamweaver.  When I get the Site Name and Local Site Folder correctly identified, NONE of the tabs on the left (Site, Servers, Version Control, Advanced Settings) can be chosen.  After trying to select one, the only way to get out of this screen is to use the ESC key.  Now, this is a problem, because all the website information, such as usernames, passwords, testing sites, and all the other site manager details, cannot be changed.  It appears the only fix I can find is to export Site Manager info to a thumbdrive, take it to my other computer (CS4 Dreamweaver) and make the changes---even including setting up new websites), the export it back to the thumbdrive and import to my other computer.  I believe it would be easier to start using Expression Web!
    I'm using Windows 7.

That worked!  But it sounds so unrelated.  Who would think that the size of fonts would make a difference?  Sounds like a 'quirk' between Adobe and Microsoft.  I've found a few of them and had to make 'sticky' notes on work-arounds.
Thanks for your suggestion.  How did you figure this out?

  • Site Manager Update Issue Continues

    Duncan;
It appears that the iTunes U Desktop Application update issue has not been resolved. I added new content to a collection (see attached link) on Friday. As of this morning, the tracks have not appeared in the iTunes U Desktop application (ver. 10.0.1), although they do appear in the Quick View Preview, but cannot be previewed in that window.
The tracks have been available for preview and download all weekend on the iPad and iPhone.

    Greetings All;
Just checking to see what, if anything has happened with the Public Site Manager Update issue on your campus or in your office.
I've uploaded content that still hasn't shown up in the iTunes Desktop Application in over two weeks.
Oddly enough, I have added URL's to our site, and that information shows up within an hour of Publishing the site.
Just wondering if anyone has experienced a resolution of the issue.

  • Two Separate Problems -  1) Some website elements missing in Internet Explorer and 2) Site manager page Locks up

    1) I have two forms created in FormsCentral embedded on my website www.videoaldeco.com . They do not appear in Internet Explorer. They work in Firefox and Safari on my iPhone. However, the problem only occurs on this computer. I tried another PC and the forms appear fine in Internet Explorer.
    2) When I go into Site Admin Console page from Muse, Internet Explorer locks up almost every time. Only Windows Task Mngr can shut it down. Then it wants to recover page. Recovering page only locks up again.

    Hi
    Answering the questions :
    1) I am not able to replicate as it works on my end , form loads fine on IE. Please let me know the IE version you are using.
    2) I don't see the same issue with site manager , please check the browser plugins and try to disable all and then check.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
i am not too sure if this will help you, but here is my guess.
Before creating a database in BPA, you gotta execute a procedure (schema_aris_70.new_schema()) in the backend database, please check if you have done this.
check out admininstration guide for more details.

  • Nested sites in site manager

I tried to see if I could have nested sites in the site
manager and it looks like that works.
c:/www/site1/webroot < ------ (root for first site, inner
    site)
    c:/www/site1 <--------------------(root for second site,
outer site) (I will need this to work on some files under this
folder and also be able to upload them through DW)
Has anyone tried that before and are there any unapparent
    consequences for doing this?
I will avoid working on any files that belong to the inner
site from the outer site to avoid the links getting corrupted.
The reason I am trying this is related to a this question I
    had few days ago.
    This
    is the other post
    Thanks,
    Shahim

You can have a site definition whose root folder is within
    the root of
another site. You will have problems with synchronization in
    that
    configuration.

  • Public Site Manager - GIF files

It appears the PSM will only accept JPG or PNG files for album art. Since our current site uses GIF file in many feeds, I assume I'll have to convert all to a supported format. Question: Do I also have to manually replace each image that was manually uploaded to our iTunes U site?
Or will the new PSM pull all images from rss feeds and trash any manually uploaded images from our old iTunes U site?
    thanks

    Found the answer
    http://deimos.apple.com/rsrc/doc/UsingiTunesUPublicSiteManager/CommonQuestions/c hapter14_section4.html
iTunes U Public Site Manager copies course images from your original course pages, *except for feed groups*, and displays the images in your new collection pages as collection art. For collections created from a feed group in your original site, include image details within the feed itself. iTunes U Public Site Manager uses elements within the feed to populate your collection page.

  • Odd Behavior in Public Site Manager

    Greetings All;
Is anyone else experiencing unusual behavior in Public Site Manager?  Specifically, after I created a new Collection and

Also, my session seems to "time out" almost immediately.

Hi Duncan - I work with about six collections in Wellesley College's iTunes U site. Is there any specific information that might help you?
Late last afternoon around 2-3, I was able to publish my item (essentially by going to the item which was already visible in the collection and resaving it/signing out very quickly before the timeout had a chance to get me.) After that, I had noticed that the timeouts were no longer occuring as quickly, but the next time I logged in I got an odd error when I clicked the "return to collections manager" link. Unfortunately I did not think to copy the error, though it was a white page and looked like some sort of script error.
However, when I went back to take a screenshot of it today, everything looks fine as far as I can see. No unnaturally quick timeouts or links throwing errors. (I do still get the "sorry, currently being edited" if I close the browser on a collection without properly signing out, but as far as I'm aware that is normal.)
I will try to find some new content to upload and report back if there are any problems with that. But for now it looks like we're fine here.
Best of luck with your own, Syd.
