Site not publishing changes

HI. I am using dreamhost, (but changing to godaddy).  All of my changes show up on my iweb on my computer, but they do not upload.

Where are you publishing your site to - MobileMe or an external host?
If an external host, how are you uploading - iWeb built in ftp or Cyberduck or Transmit?
If you are using iWeb built in ftp, then perhaps try using Cyberduck to upload instead after publishing to a local folder from iWeb.  It could be that not all the changed folders are being uploaded.

  • IWeb 3.0.4 will not publish changes.

I have not updated or made any changes to my system.  I am using Leopard.  Suddenly, iWeb is not working.  I edit my homepage, but when I publish, the changes do not appear online.  I have tried several times; I have even delted the home page and created a new one from scratch.  But every time I publish, it just shows the previous version.  I'm trying to change a link for one of the words on the page, but it won't work.  Help!

I am having the same problem. I created a new website with iWeb and when I test the connection everything is ok. The site page listing on the upper left side of the window is red and next to the site name there is a small icon that looks similar to an RSS feed icon. When I click on PUBLISH ENTIRE SITE that option grays out but nothing happens. In the past when I have published websites next to the site name there is a circle that shows the progress of the upload and when completed the list turns blue. I have cleared cache, quit iWeb and restarted the computer. I do have multiple usernames on this computer each with a different iWeb website, but none of them are logged in.
Godaddy is the host and I called their support line and all my settings are correct. Although they tried, they could not help me beyond that. My iWeb version is 3.0.3 and I am running on OSX v 10.5.8.
I have had similar problems in the past with iWeb not publishing changes, but usually after I do the things above it will work.
    Please help! Thanks.

  • Iweb site not publishing

I modified my web site and I am trying to publish it but it will not publish any change. I am not using mobile me but ftp publishing

Publish your site to a local folder and launch this in the browser by double clicking the index.html file to see if the changes are present in this version. If they are then your problem is with FTP.
Always empty your browser cache after updating and before visiting your published site.

  • Iweb was not publishing changes to my personal domain name, AND now it won't let me publish at all!

Hi, i am new to the apple community so bare with me whilst i struggle to explain...
I recently purchased a hosting site through netregistry.net.  www.toyboxtherapies.com.au I spoke to them to allow the changes to the CNAME through their site. They did this for me. Once they did this my original 3 page site that I had published to mobileme came up.
When i added changes to the site, none of them were published even though iweb said they had been. I gave the site 48 hours (well, i gave them a week) to update the changes.
I went to double check today and now iweb wont let me publish to my domain name at all, it just lists File>Set up personal domain on mobile me.
When I log into mobile me my domain name is there. I have tried removing t and setting it up again, but nothing is happening with iweeb. Still the same problem.
Please help! I am trying to get this business off the ground and its all very frustrating!

This is what I see in a Lookup :
    ; <<>> DiG 9.6-ESV-R4-P3 <<>> www.toyboxtherapies.com.au cname +multiline +nocomments +nocmd +noquestion +nostats +search
    ;; global options: +cmd
    www.toyboxtherapies.com.au. 3600 IN CNAME web.me.com.
It means that the CNAME record points to MobileMe.
So go where you manage your domain and delete the CNAME record and change the  A-record(s) to point to your new webhost.
It takes some time for the changes to propagate thru the internet. A minimum of 20 minutes.
Note that when you publish to MobileMe, iWeb recieves the domainname information from the MobileMe server. Only when you publish elsewhere you have to enter the domainname. But if you do not change the settings where you host your domainname, it still directs to MMe. But that's beyond iWeb.

  • Podcasting on an iWeb site not published to .mac

Hi, I have created a website with iWeb which is hosted externally to .Mac. Everything works fine except I created a podcast (m4a file) which I'd like to include on my site. Can anyone let me know the steps I need to take to get this to be available to people using any PC when they visit my website? Do I need to convert it to another file type, embed a plug-in or whatever? Please explain in idiot proof terms as I'm a novice at this! Many thanks.

.m4a is a pretty standard file format. Sometimes PC users have better luck when they change the extension of the file to .mp4. But I'm not recommending this approach.
Here's where I am going with this... If you publish any kind of media file with iWeb -- video or audio -- iWeb will by default use (or expect to use) QuickTime to play them. This is true whether the site is being viewed on a PC or a Mac. The QuickTime coding is right there in the iWeb generated HTML files. Therefore, as long as your PC viewers have QuickTime installed (the latest version of QuickTime7 preferably), they will have no problem with the .m4a extension files.

  • Iweb not publishing changed content

In iweb the "Visit site" button is not enabled and each time I try publishing all my content to www.preppypug.com changes made in iweb are not being published - any suggesstions?

hello i have had the same problem and it was very simple to solve it. Just don't click "Visit Site" button and click "OK" button instead. Then go to your sever and open it, it'd probably already changed your changes. that worked for me. Hope it helps.

  • Site Not Showing Changes

No matter what I do, whenever I make changes on my site and then publish- the changes are not made online.
What is going on? I've gone so far as to completely recreate an entire page and it still isn't working!
My site is www.annarborgraduations.com - I had to change the front page, because on some browsers the contest entry form doesn't show up properly.

Publish your site to a folder on your hard drive and check it locally with your browser.  If all is well with that version then the problem lies with the uploading of the files to the server.
Try clearing your browsers cache again (Command+Option+E for Safari) and reload the website.  If that doesn't show the changes then you'll need to use the File ➙ Publish Entire Site menu option to try to get all of the files uploaded correctly.
So we're all on the same page what system version and iWeb version are you using?

  • Answer to web sites not publishing (?)

My web site refused to publish on upgrading to ilife 09. I read the blogs carefully. I followed the instructions posted by 'jravin' under the 'why did I upgrade?'
DO NOT just 'publish' and expect your site to go from red to blue.
Go to *'file - publish site changes'*.
Brilliant and only 15 minutes of aggravation instead of days.
Thank you 'jravin'. Whoever you are you are a genius.

Thanks. However, I had decided to do a reset using the reset button on the settings page which, as I understand it, returns the iPad to its factory settings and this seems to have completely cured the problem.

  • IWeb not publishing changes

I updated some pages on my iWeb program, then clicked "Publish Site."  All looked well, but when I visited my website, no changes showed up.  This is a new problem; I've been using iWeb with no problems for a couple of years.  Any ideas?

Have you tried using a 3rd party FTP client like YummyLIte, Transmit or Cyberduck to upload the files from the locally published site?

  • New site not publishing. 2 separate MobileMe accounts, iweb sites involved

*April '09 I purchase Mobile Me for use to develop a website for a friend.* I use his email, but my credit card to make the purchase, and set up the website from iweb on my macbook.
    http://web.me.com/samaniegosinclair/hector/AbouttheArtist
*A month ago I purchase an iphone and buy mobileme for my own personal use (with same credit card from first mobileme).* I set it up on my macbook and sign into mobileme from system prefs with my new username and password. Then I open iweb because I want to create a website for my own use.
*The friends website draft loads in iweb. How is this possible if I am opening iweb with a totally different account?*
*I try to create a new site, my own site (so it shows up second in the index to the left), and then publish.* It's been over 30 minutes, but all text on left side index is still red (not blue which indicates published status, right?), but there's a filled-in white circle next to the title of my site (doesn't that mean it's finished uploading?)
*Then I decide to search for my site.* According to the help file it should be http://web.me.com/[YourMemberName] for the first site. Well this is my first site on this account, but not the first site I've created using iweb (hence why the friend's site shows up first?).
*So I type in http://web.me.com/margie.hatch (margie.hatch being my username) hit the return key and this shows up: http://web.me.com/margie.hatch/hector/AbouttheArtist.html. WHAT? How'd that happen?*
Where do I even start to sort this out and get my new site published? Must I terminate the first mobile me account?

The friends website draft loads in iweb. How is this possible if I am opening iWeb with a totally different account?
You're not opening iWeb with a toally different account. iWeb opens a file on your computer :
    ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites2
iWeb publishes to the MobileMe account you entered in the System Prefs.
The purchase of an iPhone has nothing to do with it.

  • IWeb update site not publish.

    Hi Guys,
The answer is either yes or no and is most likely staring me in the face but for the life of me I can't see it.
Once you have done the a full publish of you website with iWeb and .Mac is there a way to just update parts of your site you have added or edited instead of re publishing your entire site every time you make a change?
    Cheers,
    rEEzA

I just got iweb last night so excuse my ignorance but:
I published a site with 2 pages. The first page is a large quicktime, about 800megs... it's my professional film editing reel. The second page has a large quicktime about 700megs. Problem is: the movie on the second page is fine on the web. The movie on the first page doesn't show up on the web. There's just a big fat "Q" logo where the movie should be. Is this because I've run out of server space? If so, why doesn't that warning come up and inform me to buy more space??? How do I fix this? I need the movie on the first page to work... my film editing samples.

  • Site not publishing "Shapeimage" not found

This problem is not resolved. Is there a fix, anywhere? It's not complex. It's not advanced. I can't publish my site because iWeb is saying it can't find a particular "ShapeImagefile." OK. Fine. You can't find the file. Neither can I. Let's get past this, iWeb. You agree to help me determine what the heck the original text or graphic is in the Layout and I'll remove it. Can't we all just get along? But, no, you are keeping it a secret.
Does anyone out there have a way of making iWeb talk? How can I find out what the original of this "shapeimage" file (it tells me it's #10...woo hooo. big deal) is so I can fix it without having to restart the entire frigging site?
My apologies for reposting this (you can see a similar thread posted by me yesterday). James gave it a good go, but he's one person on one schedule and I'm working day and night to try to figure this out. James said I should publish to a folder to see, but iWeb won't let me. It says it can't because the Shapeimage_10 or whatever file is missing.

Let me throw some questions out there...
Have you ever successfully published? If you have, you could search for shapeimage on your iDisk to figure out what it is. Although I just searched my iDisk and there are TONS of files named shapeimage so I have a feeling this is what all the little lines and spaces and such in a page are called by iweb.
Have you tried to "Publish ALL to .Mac"?
Have you tried searching your Domain file to figure out what the shapeimage is? I don't know if it would show up in there or not.
You might have to rebuild each page - insert a new page of the same style, cut and paste your content, delete the old page. Try to publish after each page is rebuilt, because you might not need to do them ALL once you find the offending page.
You might want to reinstall iWeb 1.1.1 before rebuilding pages, in case you have a corrupted template or something.

  • Iweb site site not publishing properly (ftp)

I've been using iweb for about 2 years now so I know it pretty well. I deided to use the iweb seo tool to get the site more popular I did all the pages tagging them ect.. I then oublished it to the ftp server will  my ftp server settings. About an hour later it had finished so I type inmy website (www.ersanspics.co.uk) and it comes up with a message on chrome ''404 page not found'' the only way I can get to home page is by typing this http://www.ersanspics.co.uk/www.ersanspics.co.uk/Home_1.html . I think that iweb seo tool and iweb overlaped becouse I published on the same ftp server settings. I uninstalled iweb seo tool and tryed but nothing happend.

You appear to have created an extra folder - www.ersanpics.co.uk -  in the root folder on the server.
When you upload website files with the iWeb FTP or SEO Tool, leave the Directory/Path field blank in the publishing settings window...
